Losing focus of applet when using messageboxes

When i show a messagebox, focus is lost on the whole applet is lost (im using internet explorer). I use RequestFocus() to set focus to an editfield, and the cursor is correctly positioned in that textfield, but i have to click somewhere in the applet for the applet to get focus again.
I would really appreciate some help on this, my project should have been ready weeks ago...

Ok, I figured it out...
A SwapChainPanel must have a swap-chain set to it -before- it can stay focused. I.e. ISwapChainPanelNative::SetSwapChain must be called with a valid swap chain before the control retains focus. Content doesn't necessarily need to be drawn to
the swap chain, it just needs to get set up.
I had been writing a simplified user-input test, one that hadn't yet gone through the process of initializing the panel's swap-chain. Once I made one and set it, this problem went away.

Lumia 1020 auto focus in video when used in apps.....

Hi. If I want to take a video clip up close using the Nokia Lumia 1020 on WhatsApp or Skype, the auto focus just will not fire. It stays zoomed out, and is only useful for taking clips really far away. This is incredibly frustrating given that I bought this phone for the camera.
Is this a bug in the phone? or is my phone broken?
Auto focus only works when using the actual camera app. Skype and WhatsApp seem to ignore the "auto focus" setting that I've turned on in the default camera app and the Nokia Camera app...

not sure as i haven't used those apps myslef, but for example, if you use Vine, there is a setting in there that allows you to lock the focus. it appears to me that auto-focus isn't automatically enabled / enabled at all in certain apps. you will need to contact the developers of the apps themselves for further feedback, as this is a user to user forum only for Nokia products and services.

Losing WiFI on MacBook when using AirPlay to Apple TV

When I use AirPlay to 'Extend Desktop' from my 2014 MacBook Pro to my Apple TV, about two thirds of the time my MBP will lose its WiFI connection to my Airport Extreme. So AirPlay and Extend Desktop works fine, but my MacBook no longer has access to the Internet. The WiFi signal strength icon on the MBP menubar just goes grey. If I click on the menubar icon, it just says "Wi-Fi: AirPlay" rather than the name of my network.
It's like AirPlay just takes over my WiFi connection to connect my MBP to my Apple TV, forcing out the WiFI connection to my base station. But again, one third of the time my MBP will remain connected to the WiFi and the Internet when using AirPlay. And other devices, like my iPad, always remained connected to the Extreme and can access the Internet.
I've been scouring the Internet looking for solutions or even other people having this issue, but no luck so far. Thought I'd ask here to see if anybody had any suggestions.

Finally got a chance to test this out. Saddly enough, it didn't work.
I deleted the movie from iTunes (no hard delete), then added it again. Same problem :-/
And yes, they are all saved in the same location (Movies folder).
Any other suggestions???

Losing smart camera connection when using web server on NI1762 smart camera

I am using 2 smart cameras ( old NI1762 and the new NI1772) with Vision builder 2011 .
I am trying to find a way to retrieve data and image to a Visual Basic 6 application. i could not find an elegant way to do it , so instead , i am sending TCP command to the smart camera as an input and the smart camera send me back a TCP command a as an output. by this way i could communicate with the smart camera . For transferring images I could not use the TCP step , so I turned on the smart camera web server to get the image by a browser Object . But the problem is that everything is going well with the TCP, but when I turned on the web server and try to communicate with it, sometimes I loose the connection with the smart camera. That is happened with the 1762 smart camera. But when I use the NI1772 it rarely happed.
Please help me. is there any other elegant way to communicate with the smart camera , and if a TCP and web server is a solution , Why the NI1762 web server is not stable ? Why i am losing the connection when browsing to the inspection page???

Previous versions of Vision Builder had a COM library that you could use from Visual Basic 6 or other environments and talk over the network to a Smart Camera running Vision Builder AI and control its execution just how you are requesting. In more recent versions, this has been replaced by a native .NET and LabVIEW-native API that is much more fully featured. Unfortunately, I do not think the older COM mechanism is still available/supported (but I certainly could be wrong...).
However, one avenue you may wish to persue would be to call into the .NET interface from Visual Basic 6. Microsoft designed .NET to allow COM interoperibility in both directions (.NET can call into COM libraries and COM libraries can call into .NET). Take a look at the following document from Microsoft:

ITunes keeps stealing focus from itself when used with Windows Live Messenger 2011

Dear Community,
I've always used WinAmp as my default music player, which worked like a charm both at playing music and showing my 'Currently Listening To' in WLM 2011.
However, I personally think iTunes has better library management, and since I bought an iPod Shuffle (4GB, small stick without buttons, think 3th gen?) I needed it anyway just to be able to listen to my music when I'm in the bus or train, so I made the switch.
It really works quite nice after you get to know the program, minor flaws here and there, but no really big deals. (except the lack of FLAC support, had to recode like 60% of my library, I like lossless audio without a proprietary codec)
At least, not until I used it to show the currently playing song in WLM2011.
Since upgrading from iTunes 9 to 10 (10.4.1.10 to be exact, and upgraded after a clean install of Windows 7 SP1, so to make it clear, iTunes 9 was not installed at the time I installed iTunes 10, nor were there any files or leftovers) it just keeps stealing focus. Not from my browser, or other apps, but from itself!
Whenever I try to edit a song's information and WLM is running, it keeps popping back to the main window, which makes correcting songs (like putting the artist in the right column) a real pain in the ***.
I'm running W7 x64 SP1 (build 7601), all drivers are up to date, WLM 2011 (build 15.4.3538.513) and, if it makes a difference, WLM Plus 5.03.0.716.
I already have it as 'Default Program' for all possible file extensions.
I have looked through these forums to see if there's a similar problem and found many, however, they all apply to older versions (iTunes 6 and 7 or MSN 7 and 8) and don't seem to work with this new version.
If any of you know a way to keep iTunes as my default player and show the currently playing son in WLM2011 without iTunes stealing its own focus, I'd love to hear it!

hi there, i've had this same issue too for a while...so basically...the problem only happens if you run windows live messenger with compatability mode and while you tell windows live messenger to show what music you're listening to.
SO the solution to this problem is to:
1. turn off compatability mode
OR
2. turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" to on windows live messenger
personally i'd rather just turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" because windows live messanger tends to crash a lot when compatability mode is turned off.

Mac mini losing signal over vga when using adapter.

At my church we are installing 2014 Mac minis in the classrooms and occasionally when we power them up the main display works perfect but the projector which is plugged in through the mini display port to vga adapter the screen will just be blue like it does't have a signal. When I check in system preferences the computer shows both displays plugged in though. Powering off the projector doesn't fix the problem I have to manually unplug and replug in the adapter.

There is no limitation to get 16:9 out of VGA. How far away is the TV? What are you using for a cable? Do you get the result you want from a shorter cable?

Checkpoint SSL Network extender stuck on Java applet when using firefox 4.0.1

I use check point SSL network extender on my mac to access my company's VPN. Since upgrading to 4.0.1, I get the message "Please confirm the use of this Java applet and then refresh or reopen the window.
If you have already disapproved using this applet, you might need to restart your browser before attempting to connect again"
I'll accept, refresh, wait, and then the message comes back. I never get through. I just uninstalled 4.0.1 and went back to 3.6.17 and it's working fine on the old version.

The first thing I notice is that you are using Firefox 4 and that is now out of date, it is not considered secure so it would make sense to upgrade to Firefox 5 (Or Firefox 6 if you read this after the 16th)
You mention Firefox 3.6.17, and although Firefox 3.6 is still (for possibly only a limited time) supported I believe the current version is 3.6.20 (it is certainly at least 3.6.18) so again you are using an out of date version. I am not a Mac user but IIRC some of the recent updates were Mac specific and fixed Mac problems, possibly problems relating to Java.
If you wish to use more than one version of Firefox to test problems developers tend to use separate profiles and custom installs but for ordinary users it may be worth considering firefox [http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable portable] versions. (that tip is applicable mainly to Windows users, no doubt there is also a poratable version for firfox5 Mac users somewhere)

SSLSocketFactory proxy fails in Applet when using HTTP(S) proxy

As part of some security feature of a new eID Applet, available at [http://code.google.com/p/eid-applet/|http://code.google.com/p/eid-applet/] I need to get access to the SSL session identifier. For this I'm using a custom SSLSocketFactory, of which the implementation is available at:

Basically this custom SSLSocketFactory is delegating every method invocation to the original SSLSocketFactory. The only additional functionality is the readout of the SSL session identifier.

You can get the session after the SSLSocket is fully constructed and connected. That depends on what else your createSocket() method does, but in general doing that just before you return is best.
However the session is a property of the session, not the socket, or the factory, so the lifetimes are all wrong. The session can survive the SSLSocket, or the other way round. To avoid that I think you should set enableSessionCreation to false on the SSLSocket after the handshake.

Yoga 13 - On-screen Keyboard Randomly Popping Up When Using Physical Keyboard?

While in laptop mode, and typing on the built-in physical keyboard or a keyboard attached via USB, the on-screen keyboard will randomly pop up, taking away focus (particularly noticeable when using extended desktop on an external display) and eating up half of the screen real estate. As soon as I press the next key on the physical board, the on-screen keyboard minimizes itself. Sometimes it will pop up when I'm not even touching the laptop!
Anyone else experience this and/or know how to stop it? It's the only thing about this machine that drives me absolutely nuts. It seems to be random. I can't pin it down and haven't found any similar reports via Google search.

Disabling "OnScreen Keyboard (Lenovo Transition)" stopped it. The solution is good enough for me, as I don't need the keyboard to pop up on its own anyway. It'll pop up when I tap in a text-entry box, and that's all that matters.
Attempts to calibrate the screen were unsucecssful. I can't say whether or not a screen calibration will stop the random pop-up issue because every time I calibrated the screen, it broke the right-side screen swipe that reveals the Charms Menu. Resetting the screen calibration was the only way I could find to restore the right-side swipe function. This is quite unfortunate because, regardless of the fact that it broke my Charms swipe, my touchpoints were FAR more accurate after the calibration than before.
So now I have another problem. I can't calibrate my screen for optimum accuracy without losing the convenience of the right-side swipe.
Any ideas?

JMenu doesn't dissapear when menu is losing focus

I have a JMenu with several JMenuItems. The problem is that the JMenu doesn't dissapear when the menu is losing it's focus, for example when I click somewhere in the application window. I use the Windows look and feel for my application.

I am losing my carriage returns when sending emails using the Internet email vi's.
All carriage returns are stripped out and I get one long word wrapped paragraph.
I want to avoid html.
Ideally, using the vi's for rich text would be perfect, but a simple text message with carriage returns and line feeds in any font ok.

Adobe Premiere CC 2014.2: losing rendered files when using warp stabilizer

Hi,
I am constantly losing rendered files when using the warp stabilizer. So far I have tried about every hint I could find on the web such as cleaning the cache, rebuilding the rendered files, creating additional sequences etc etc.
Honestly I am getting tired of using a product that isnt cheap in the first place to rent and where a bug like this apparently persists over several product versions without being fully fixed (I have had this problem throughout 2014 but according to forum postings others seem to have problems with much earlier versions as well).
I would be really grateful if somebofy has any suggestion how this can be addressed.
I am also happy to help testing fixes - if there are any fixes available.

Welcome to the Adobe forums.
Please try the steps mentioned below and check if it works for you.
1. Launch Premiere Pro and create a Project, go to File menu>Project Settings>Renderer and change the Renderer to Software only mode, delete previews if you get a prompt and then try to import the clip.
2. If step 1 fails or the Renderer is already on Software only mode, go to Start Menu and search for Device Manager, go into Display Adapters and Right click on the Graphics card to select Update driver software option, on the next screen choose "Browse my computer for driver software", then choose "Let me Pick from a list..." option and from the list select "Standard VGA Graphics adapters. You might need to change the screen resolution of your screen and once done restart the machine again.
Launch Premiere Pro and import the clip to check.

Is there a problem accessing a MySQL Database via an applet

Applet runs out of a sandbox, if you print the exception, you'll see that you have run into security access violation:

}This will tell you why your applet didn't print anything. Just a firendly advice, never try to catch something and don't display what was caught.

No mnemonic or focus when using HTML for a components text

When using HTML to set the text for a JLabel, JRadioButton or JCheckBox; mnemonics are never displayed and the outline depicting focus is never painted. Any ideas why? Any way of fixing this? Is it a known bug?

The accuracy of this response may vary depending on the look and feel you're using.
The JRadioButton and, by virtue of being a subclass, JCheckBox are painted by the look and feel class. Those classes behave differently for HTML text. If the text property is HTML, that is there is a javax.swing.text.View that is responsible for rendering the text there is not even a call to paintFocus so the focus is never painted.
Also, if there is no text the focus is not painted. This will happen if you create a JRadioButton with no String argument and use a separate JLabel with setLabelFor(Component) to associate it with the JRadioButton. The actual guts of the radio button never ever seems to show any indication of focus under any circumstances.
I can only assume this is deliberate (rather than a bug) since there's fairly deliberate non-calling of methods and no provision for the focus indicator to be painted when there's no text associated with the JRadioButton or JCheckBox.
