Loss of Printer HP C4180

I am at a complete loss here.
My HP C4180 has always worked well but I have in the last couple of weeks lost the ability to do anything with it. My drivers have all seemed to have failed on me or something. Have tried downloading new drivers from HP support site, have tried re-installing, have tried software update on through HP. I literally can't do anything. The HP Set-Up software can't even see it even though it is connected through USB.
Strange thing is that I attributed this to 10.5.7 but it turns out that my iMac G5 has lost all ability to use the C4180 as well as my MacBook, the former not having 10.5.7 on it (currently sitting on 5.6).
Is there anything else I can try need to get a marriage certificate scanned in sharp or the wife will chop me head off!

Sounds like the printer's gone south. Contact HP for steps on resetting it. Alternatively, get another printer.

Wondering how to best format prints for printer to avoid visible edge loss in printing. I have color borders on the photos, H & V.
Do I subtract a 1/4th inch from each side while formatting? Order with "border" and cut the border?

From your original post you said you had a colour border, so why not extend your canvas and border by a quarter inch all round. That should be more than enough bleed.

How can I get back to reader 9?

I don't know what you mean by "loss of print Scaling"; works fine for me with Reader X and XI.
But if you want to revert to Reader 9; uninstall your current Reader, then download and install Reader 9 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

HP Printer Photosmart C4180 All in One

HP Photosmart C4180 All in One Printer.
I did reinstall the printer using the original disk, did uninstall it and then reinstall it, but did not work right. Then I try to download the driver direct from HP and I get the same result (The printer works but the scanner, ink levels etc is not working)
I need to TOTALLY REMOVE THE ENTIRE SOFWARE, can somebody help?

Modify Financial Report (Profit & Loss) through Print Layout Designer

Hi all,
We try to modify the P&L Financial Report in SAP BO 2005B through the Print Layout Designer tool. We saved a new P&L Report with font size and font type modified and set this new report as default, but we noted that our modifications are only displayed in Report print preview instead printing this Report it seems like our modification are not performed.
Have you got any experience in this matter.

We had also faced this problem. we are also using SAP 2005B.
For P&L Report, Hope u did changes in Profit and Loss Statement (System).
But, it is true that the system is not using the baove template for its print. Instead of that the system is using the template called "Profit and Loss statement Comparison".
When u give print preview u can understand this.i.e. the name of the template used will display in the title bar.
Hence, u do the changes in second said template. Hope u understood

Sudden loss of print selected area in Photoshop 10.0.1?

Between printing one image and printing the next I seem to have lost the ability to print a selected area in Photoshop 10.0.1. I am using this old program because the new Photoshop does not have that option. The box is now greyed out. Does any know why I could lose this, and what can I do to get it back? This is extremely important to my work method...

Great news! "Print Selected Area" was restored in Photoshop CS6.
Go to File > Print, scroll down in the dialog box that appears, et voila:

Color quality loss when printing...

My office recently bought a large Roland printer that is capable of a feature called "CutContour", where in Illustrator if you name a color swatch "CutContour" exactly and draw a line on your image with that swatch as the outline color, the Roland will cut where the line was drawn. It's pretty neat. The only problem is that when I open my pdf in Illustrator, by the time it prints, the color quality is dramatically decreased. (like instead of a bright blue, it prints a dull blue-violet color). I have already gone into Bridge and "synchronized" my color settings between my Adobe applications and have played a little bit with the color settings in Illustrator itself. I also know it's not the printer, because it prints the PDFs just fine only when I don't edit it in Illustrator in order to add the CutContour line. Has anyone ran into the same issue? I would really appreciate your help!

You may be changing from RGB to CMYK Color Mode (File>Document Color Mode).

Loss of printer and computer connection

I have an imac 10.6.8 and an HP photosmart estation and I have not had any problems with connectivity between the printer and the computer until recently when I received an error message stating that some of the printer software had been deleted. At that point, I uninstalled the softeware and reinstalled it, but it did not solve the connectivity issue. I know that the printer works fine because I am able to air print from my ipad. Next, I posted on the HP forum and was instructed to do a hard reset control-option-command and uninstall the software and then reinstall, but that didn't work either. I have also read the articles on the apple site about adjusting settings under the preferances tab, but that didn't work either. Help! I don't know what else I can do.

Since you are able to print from your iPad, but not from your iMac. Can you please tell me if you are getting a specific error message when trying to print from the iMac?
I would just to reset the print system of the Mac. I have included the document 'Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system' http://bit.ly/1gYbCLS. This will delete all the printers listed in the print queue. After the reset has completed, please close down the windows that are open.
Next you will need to complete a verify and repair of the disk permissions. I have included the document 'Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions' http://bit.ly/1bjFnnP. After the repair disk permissions has been completed, please restart the Mac.
When the Mac is back up, you will need to re-add the printer. I have included the stpes below for this.
1. Click on the Apple Icon
2. Click on System Preferences
3. Click on Print & Fax
4. Click on the Plus sign in the bottom left corner
5. Click on your Printer
6. Click on the Add button
Next you will need to open the HP Utility. This can either be found on the dock, or in the application folder, and in the Hewlett-Packard folder. Try printing one of the test pages. Are you able to print the test page from the HP Utility? Are you able to print another document on from your Mac.

Printing problems with 1.5.3

I find that after updating to 1.5.3 I can only print one 8 1/2 x 11 print on my Epson 4800. After printing Aperture freezes with the beach ball spinning and I get the message in force quit that Aperture is not responding. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. I am at a loss. Printing works fine from other applications.

It would help to know what Xerox printer the issue is being caused by.
Apple provides updates for Xerox drivers via this link:

10.6 and later
It has been found that updating the drivers through Apple, and then installing the manufacturer drivers direct from the manufacture, or sometimes vice versa can fix printer driver issues. Sometimes doing it even for unlisted printers (on the 10.6 or later link) can help.
If neither helps, open source drivers may be needed*:

Note: Apple can't do anything without the printer manufacturer's help. Each printer manufacturer has its own design, and without input from the manufacturer, all Apple can do is issue guidelines.

What's the best way to export for print?

I usually upload images to my local photoprinting shop. What's the best way to do that with Lightroom? Since lightroom does the final sharpening in the print module, how do I get that into the exported file since there is no export function in the print module? Also, how do I get the proper dpi and sizing info into the photo for the print shop? Thanks.

There is no good way to prepare images for printing from a file from a commercial printer by using Lightroom alone. You need to do an export of the image without any resizing or color space conversion, and then use some other program of your choice to 'finish' the file.
It's just plain missing functionality... Lightroom assumes that you will be printing photos yourself and it is missing a whole lot of stuff in order to support external printing, including:
a) Resize to exact pixel dimensions. Many labs require an exact pixel count for a given print size, so for example for an 8x10 they need a 2400 x 3000 pixel image. Can't be done in Lightroom.
b) Trim adjustment. If you are doing full bleed photos (no margin), you might need to provide about 0.05 inch of 'trim space' to compensate for image loss during printing. Can't be done in Lightroom.
c) Exporting to a specific printer profile. Can't be done.
d) Adding margins, text, etc. Many times my clients want a 1/4 inch margin in their photos to facilitate framing, or I put a dim watermark type text in the bottom corner. Can't be done.
My solution. Do most processing in Lightroom, do an export, and then do a second export via qImage on a PC. It does all of the above plus much more. It's just a matter of using the right tool for the job, and LIghtroom has no facilities at all for printing to a file.
I have been asking for "Print to File" ever since I was under NDA during the betas.

Acrobat 9 Pro Install Printer Help?

Hello All,
Everytime I install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro I loss my printer connection. When I uninstall it I get my printer connection back.
Anyone have any ideas? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a Dell V305. I have all the software updated on both.

Do you have the serial number for your Acrobat 6 Pro and is your Acrobat 9 Pro an upgrade??
In case yo do not have the serial number , and your Acrobat 9 Pro is an upgrade you should not uninstall acrobat 6 otherwise you will be struck at the Upgrade serial number screen and then you will ave to call Customer Support.
If you have the serial number for Acrobat 6 , then you can uninstall it , if , in case , you get the prompt for upgrade serial number , you will have to selct the product from the drop down as Acrobat 6 Pro and enter its serial number there.

Why A Warning in my Print window?

The image is 12MB, printing full frame to 12x18" on a 13x19'' sheet. Why am I getting a yellow warning triangle on the image in the Print window? And why don't the custom sheet and image sizes stick from one session to the next? Thanks a lot,

Have you cropped the Original? You are correct: at 4000 x 2700 you should be able to print 12 x 18 inches without any loss of print resolution. Is the warning in the Print dialog the yellow triangle with an exclamation point? That usually indicates that Aperture thinks you may not have enough pixels for a sharp hand-held print. I'm not aware of any other way of triggering the yellow sign warning when printing.
"Full-frame" describes a sensor size — roughly the same size as a 35mm film negative. The term isn't helpful in specifying image dimensions, as there can be be images from full-frame cameras that are smaller than what the camera is capable of, either because they were created that way by the camera, or were cropped.
("Full-frame" is, imho, silly even as a camera descriptor, however helpful it is to marketers. Cameras should simply list the pixel size of the sensors. "APS-C" is equally out-moded.)
I have to get back to you on the 3880 setting. I know the settings works, even with top-loading. Iirc, it's the one I had to use in order to access the Epson paper profiles. Excellent printer, btw.

PIXMA MP610: Can Printing a large number of copies damage the printer head

Hi!I want some suggestion, if some one give me nice suggestion it will be best for meI bought Canon Mp610 , for my thesis (which contain 400 pages inculding color and black pages), and require 10 copies meanwhile, 4000 pagesI decide print to thesis with 1, or in 5 actions , I need suggestion which will be best for me to print collective 5 copies or print one or two copy then give it rest for 15-30 minutes and then give action for other copy, but is time consuming, but my colleague said me if you print 5 copies in signle or multiple actions, it damage the printer head, and you will loss your printer. He said me to use Laer jet for black portion and for color use inkjet printer. I am worried about his suggestion because i will waste my lot pages which will be print in black then I will replace them with color pages. I know what you mean, this has to happen every month, and for some reason (orders from the bosses), i have to be at work until the whole job has finished printing incase a batch goes wrong so we can imediatly start reprinting, it used to be only from the Friday night until early Monday morning, so I'm also trying to get the job done a bit quicker, but i can't see that happening.
The problem is that its all together 150 000 documents that we need to print that will be split up into these batches (within 5 days, monthly), the printer that we are printing to is an OCE, so it can handle big batches. the thing is that we use to print it from an AS400 through DOCOUT, so while the printer was printing one of these batches, it was busy spooling the next batch, which made it a bit quicker, but now this process has to move over to JAVA, and if i can the program to spool the jobs, i can start spooling while the previous one is printing. i even thought about writing a batch through the socket, in theory its almost like spooling, but i don't know how much RAM the OCE has.
I also thought of merging the POSTSCRIPTS into one document, but that will take alot of time and space.

Printing with Epson 2880 after Apple Software Update of Epson Drivers

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the loss of "Print Settings and Color Management" controls in the print dialogue when printing from Lightroom or Photoshop after the recent Driver Update (which appeared in Software Update.) Prior to the Update which I had been avoiding until it came down when I updated iTunes (again, Software Update) all print options were available with the Epson software. Oddly, if you elect allowing the printer to control the output the color and color settings are available but if you set the (Lightroom or Photoshop) dialogue to the paper profile then the color and color settings are grayed out. I talked at length with both Epson Tech support and went through the drill of removing and installing the printer and installing the newest drivers (from Epson) and nothing changed. I talked with Apple and again, nothing changed inspite of various adjustments. This is just a little disturbing since I do a considerable amount of photo printing.
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

I'm going to make an additional comment to my question and that is, strange as the behavior is, this may be a normal function with the update. Although during my roughly hour talk with Epson tech support, the rep was not aware and gave me reason to believe what was (not) happening in the software was in fact wrong. Clearly, the new print dialogue with it's grayed out settings is different from the previous print dialogue and print settings. If you now use a paper profile - regardless of manufacturer - the software assumes you are going to turn off color management - which is absolutely correct. Although I have not tried it, I am led to believe from some material I found deep in Epson's Support, the "color" area in the print dialogue no longer permits electing printing in "advanced" Black and White. More correctly, inorder not to have B&W grayed out you must be using glossy paper and the correct black ink cartridge is in the printer. This isn't a bad idea but sometimes I find the image is better with a Matte paper. Obviously you can, and I have, printed in B&W - you just have to be aware that within the Color settings of the print dialogue you no longer have the "option" to select B&W or advanced B&W. In some strange ways the new dialogue and settings areas of the Apple print menu for the Epson printers is simpler but it does come as a surprise when you first struggle with the changes.

My new MG6150 Canon printer's Print Options are in a language I cannot understand.
No. 1     Prevent loss of print data. What is that? (not ticked)
No. 2 (Instead of Off-On, for no color management there is) ,
     Disable ICM required from the application software. (I ticked this one, I hope I am right).
No.3   Disable the color profile setting of the application software. ( not ticked)
No. 4   Disable the paper source setting from the application software. ( not ticked)

For 1) I guess it means that the print job is put on memory, then sent to the printer. Sometimes, you can select if sppoling is done in the printer, or in the computer.
For 2) It all depends if you control CM from Photoshop or not. But the language they use is puzzling, indeed!
I'd check if the prints have the symptom of double-profiling.(usually, they are too green or magenta)
