Why A Warning in my Print window?

Hi,
The image is 12MB, printing full frame to 12x18" on a 13x19'' sheet. Why am I getting a yellow warning triangle on the image in the Print window? And why don't the custom sheet and image sizes stick from one session to the next? Thanks a lot,
Raphael

Have you cropped the Original?  You are correct: at 4000 x 2700 you should be able to print 12 x 18 inches without any loss of print resolution.  Is the warning in the Print dialog the yellow triangle with an exclamation point?  That usually indicates that Aperture thinks you may not have enough pixels for a sharp hand-held print.  I'm not aware of any other way of triggering the yellow sign warning when printing.
"Full-frame" describes a sensor size — roughly the same size as a 35mm film negative.  The term isn't helpful in specifying image dimensions, as there can be be images from full-frame cameras that are smaller than what the camera is capable of, either because they were created that way by the camera, or were cropped.
("Full-frame" is, imho, silly even as a camera descriptor, however helpful it is to marketers.  Cameras should simply list the pixel size of the sensors.  "APS-C" is equally out-moded.)
I have to get back to you on the 3880 setting.  I know the settings works, even with top-loading.  Iirc, it's the one I had to use in order to access the Epson paper profiles.  Excellent printer, btw.

  • Why doesn't the Firefox print window not provide a double-sided printing option?

My HP printer is capable of printing double-sided, which saves paper, but the Firefox Print Window does not offer a double-sided printing option. (I recently switched from IE, which did.) Do I have to do something to add it?

Can you post a screen shot of what you're seeing?
The relevant print options for your printer appear under Properties AFTER you click the Print button and select the printer to be used.

In CC214 PS Why has adobe removed the "print Size Button"  And why have they made the Brush preview window so small you can't see the effects to accurately adjust them?
These two things need to be remedied in their upgrades because It's become such a bother I've had to revert to older versions of PS.

Yea, and it's a pain to get to.  What was the rational for removing the print size button?   With the magnifying glass tool selected in older versions of Photoshop you would get a button that says "print size" right next to Actual pixels, Fit Screen, Fill Screen. Now I have to go out of my way and dig for it if I want to see the print size.  Of all the buttons you could have taken away, why not fill screen?  I never use that.
Besides the point I just downloaded the Oct Upgrade for PS and surprise! Nothing has changed and these are two big black eyes on newer versions of Photoshop.   The Brush preview window is  unchanged in CC but in CC2014 it's basically worthless.  If you apply a texture to a brush you can't properly see the scale of the texture, the spacing, scatter, etc...

    it looks stretched taller.
I think you have Anamorphic material.
Start a new Sequence. Go to Sequence > Settings and click the Anamorphic checkbox.
Select a clip in the Browser. Press command and 9. Find Anamorphic in the column on the left.
Click next to it in the Clip column to place a check mark there too.
    Edit into the timeline.
    Does that look better?

Just upgraded to snow leopard, downloader apple support drivers for canon mp620.  Why won't a printer list display in add printer window?

Assuming the MP620 is connected to your wireless network, then there are two components to this device - the printer and the scanner. The printer uses Canon proprietary software while the scanner is supported by Apple's Bonjour service. So in many cases, you will at least see the scanner, shown as Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column, while the printer can take longer to appear and is shown as canonijnetwork in the Kind column. If you cannot see either then you have a network issue. Try turning off the MP620 for a minute and then turning back on. Then see if the scanner / printer component appears in the Add Printer window. If you still don't see either, then confirm the MP and the Mac are using the same network. If you know the MP's IP address you can use Network Utility to Ping the address. You can also enable Bonjour Bookmarks in Safari preferences and when selected, the MP620 should appear.

  • Why can I no longer print from my Windows XP computers to my Bonjour connected Canon printer thru an Airport Extreme Base Station (f/w 7.6.4, model A1301)?

Something has changed recently and I haven't figured it out.  My 2 Windows XP computers are no longer able to print via Bonjour.  I have tried removing and reinstalling Bonjour.  Upgrading the firmware on the AIrport Extreme Base Station and comparing Port settings from an able to print Windows Vista laptop.  Port settings match and Bonjour says it sees the printer...but the communication is not happening between the computer and the networked printer, it times out and produces an error in the print que.  Both XP computers have no problem using the internet via the Base Station.  One is wired and one is wireless.  Thoughts?

Sounds a bit like a problem being discussed in this thread:

I suspect some kind of update is at fault. Like you, my printer/base station setup had been working fine until recently.

  • When changing the default printer in windows vista why doesn't the default printer change in firefox (firefox was running when the default printer was changed)?

I am not sure whether or not this is a bug or a feature, but I was running firefox on my laptop. I then went to add a new printer and set it as a default printer. When I went back to firefox to print, it did not automatically choose that new default printer as the printer of choice. I then had to choose the new printer manually to print to. This is merely a convenience issue but thought I would bring it to the attention of Mozilla in case.

    Hello bradleesargent
as i can see the note in the kb article ([https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-print-websites#w_print-window-settings Print window settings]) ''The default printer is the Windows one. When a web page is printed with the selected printer, it becomes the new default printer.''
do you have your previous printer also, or you uninstall the previous printer and then install the new one and make it default ?
I think firefox must be closed when you set up a new printer. Do you have it open when set up the new printer ?
    thank you

When closing Firefox windows, I would like a warning before the last window closes. The about:config settings do nothing. There is a warning for multiple tabs... why not for the last window? I do not use tabs... just windows... I have a mouse button programmed for that. It is really irritating to have to restart Firefox all the time and then open the history window because no warning was issued!

This is ridiculous. I've had this problems for years now and I'm finally walking away from Firefox. I use my keyboards more than my mouse, and how many times does your finger slip and hit Command Q instead of W. How come FF can't reset something as trivial as this? So many people are having problems with this?
Feels like FF has become too big, too slow and just not cooperative anymore. What a shame, I've been using Netscape/Firefox for 13 years. This is silly.

  • A shortcut for a button in Print window

I want to make a shortcut on Printer button in Print window, which is not definable through Print Presets.

the buttons are only lighted, but not pressed.
    tell application "System Events"
       tell process "InDesign"
click button "Printer..." of window "Print"
       end tell
    end tell
I tried "click button 3", not workin too.
    Can anyone tell why?

So, why isn't this listed in the keyboard shortcuts help list fo iCal?

  • DPI and PPI in Aperture 'Export' and 'Print' windows

    Hi,
As mentioned in an earlier post, I just bought an Epson 3880 printer and some Epson Hot Press paper, so now I have to pay attention to PPI (term used for displays) and DPI (term  used for printers).
In Aperture however, files being exported require DPI specs(!), while files being printed require that we specify PPI specs. How is that?
Also, my Epson manual indicates that I can print at 5 distinct "DPI" settings, from 180 to 2880. My Aperture Print window, however, only offers 3 options with 360 "PPI" as the highest (considered Draft quality by Epson - if "DPI"), plus a 4th referred to as Custom.
Also, I have a note jotted down a while back that says: "1440 dpi for most papers with 240 dpi files, at 2880 if 360" - whatever that meant 6 months ago at an Epson 3880 seminar, before I got the printer.
Can you guys sort this out for me? Please?
    Thanks a lot,
    Raphael

I'm not at my studio.  My current driver is 8.x.  The newest driver is 9.33.  My remarks here may not fit with your more current version of the driver (but that would surprise me — the printer came out about 4 years ago, iirc).
The profiles are not, afaik, included with the driver, at least when you download it from Epson's site.
There are two profiles for each Epson Fine Art paper — one at 1440 and one at 2880.  You should try each with every kind of print you make, and determine which is better.  IME, _for my needs_, 2880 was never worse.  I use the 2880 profiles.
The profile is selected from the "Color Profile" drop-down at the top of the "Rendering" section of Aperture's "Print" dialog.
(Set "Render Intent" to "Perceptual" for, in general, photographs or anything with smoothly graduated changes in color.  Set "Render Intent" to "Relative Colorimetric" for, in general, graphics or anything with smooth areas of constant color and sharp transitions between areas of color.  Generally, if "Render Intent" is "Perceptual", check "Black Point Compensation"; otherwise uncheck it.)
Leave "Print Resolution" at "Auto".  I know of no reason to ever change this.  (I don't, in fact, know what this control does, and have never changed it.)
When you click "Print" in Aperture's "Print" dialog, a short dialog opens asking you if you want to save any changes you made to your Preset.  I always save my changes.  Prints often need to be immediately remade — all transitions of data from electronic to physical media are problematic — and I like to return to my Preset ready to print the same Image(s) again.
When that dialog closes, the OS print dialog opens.  Your 3880 printer should already be selected in the "Printer" drop-down.  You need to create and should save an OS Preset for your paper.  Note that on the "Color Matching" page (this dialog has pages, not tabs; direct complaints to Cupertino), all (two) options should be grayed-out.  This indicates that Aperture is handling color matching, which is what you want (for best prints and anything approaching a color-calibrated workflow).  On the "Paper Handling" page, the "Destination Paper Size" drop-down is grayed-out, but should show you the selection you made in the Aperture Print dialog.  The "Printer Settings" page has two tabs.  On the "Basic" tab, in the "Media Type" drop-down, select your paper ("Fine Art Paper ▹ Hot Press [Bright or Natural])*.  The "Ink" drop-down should be grayed-out, but show "Matte".  Matte is proper selection for Hot Press [Bright or Natural].  This dialog knows this from your color profile selection in the Aperture Print dialog.  Chose "16-bit" output and any other options your want (you can experiment; I find no difference).  I ignore the warning about print quality at the bottom area — this has never been an issue.  On the "Advanced" tab of the "Printer Settings" page, it should tell you that "Epson Driver Color Management is Off".  That's what you want.  You want Aperture to manage the color.
Save your OS print dialog Preset.  Use it every time you print to the same paper.
*If you cannot select your paper, you have not selected the correct paper size in the "Printer" section of Aperture's Print dialog.  Note that the "Paper Size" selection includes not only the paper size, but also whether the feed is by sheet-feeder or manual, and whether or not the print is borderless.  (I didn't design this; I assume there are reasons to have shoe-horned these options into the "Paper Size" selection.
This is all tricky on top of being actually complex and next to being new.  It takes everyone time and mistakes (read: ink and paper) to canalize a flow that works for producing the prints they want.  I hope this gets you there a little faster.  Report back with what doesn't work.
    —Kirby.

  • Adobe Reader Print Window not legible

Adobe Reader (free) works just fine until I want to print a document. For some years now, whenever I want to print the print window comes up looking like this:
It has occurred to me that my custom color scheme may have something to do with this (but note the "8.5 x 11 Inches" text that does appear) so I have tried changing the Window Theme to Windows Classic. Doing that results in the print window looking like this:
Notice the vertical scrollbar on the right ... scrolling shows more of the print window, which has the same attributes as what we see here.
When using my normal (custom) color scheme with my personal Theme, sometimes the print window comes up looking like the 1st picture, sometimes like the second. I have not discerned any pattern or reason why it shows one way one time and the other way another time.
When either version of the print window comes up, pressing the Enter key always prints the document correctly. Similarly, If, in the first picture, if I click the left-hand button of the pair at the lower right of the window it also prints. When it comes up looking like the second picture, I have never been to find the "Print" button and have to use the Enter key. Again, however I start the printing, the document prints as it should.
This has been going on since sometime back when I was using Windows XP (before Windows 7 came out) and has continued now that I am using Windows 7. I always keep the O/S up to date with both the Service Packs and the Windows Updates. Likewise I keep the Reader up to date and installed the latest update just before taking these screenshots. I have 27" HP 2711 monitor @ its native resolution of 1920x1080.
If anyone has any ideas on how to make the print window readable, I would appreciate it. This has been an annoyance for much too long.

I had the Segoe UI Light, UI Semibold, and UI Symbol fonts installed, and 6 other Segoe fonts available, but not installed. I installed Seguo UI (only) and brought up a PDF document and tried to print ... voilà! ...
It's perfect. The picture here is a little fuzzy here due to the size reduction, but in real life, it's just the way it should be.
    Thank you very much!

  • Printing window causes exe to freeze

in windows xp pro only when running apps using v5.01 labview app builder ( on different system) when i want to print window, the app freezes after the printer is finished printing window, any idea why?

Have you seen this same behavior on other operating systems? The previous post is correct, the first version of LabVIEW to support Windows XP is LV 6.1, but you might be able to get it to work using your old version of LabVIEW. I have inlcuded a link to some common causes of printing errors, and you may be able to come up with the problem through this, although I would suggest seeing if you can reproduce this same problem on Windows 95/98. • Unable to view Print window when Print triggered from J6NY

    Dear Experts
We have enabled Print option for printing the document from J6NY. It works ok when we try to print a document using a Test user in test system in our network on my system(The test user has all the required roles assigned for printing the document from J6NY).
When the Client tries to test it using same test user on his Laptop, he cannot see the print window. But he is able to print the document from the transaction other than J6NY.
We checked below but there is no issue with it.
    1) The print queue for default printer on the Client's Laptop, there are no documents available in the queue.
    2) The internet settings to see pop up blocker
Any idea what could be the issue and what checks needs to be done in order to resolve this?
    Regards
    Vaishali

    Hi Alok,
This is a known issue : User is not able to view the contents (i.e. reports) of the folders while importing a documents from Deski 3-tier or from infoview however he can view the reports and folders from Deski 2-tier.
    Solution:
Upgrade all client machine to the same level of patch as the server
BO always recommends maintaining the same patch level for the BO Server and the Clients
    For Example:
       - If Server/ Enterprise: BusinessObjects XI R3.1 then Client should also be on the same patch level. or
       - If Server/ Enterprise: Crystal Reports Server 2008 then Client should Crystal Reports 2008 or
       - Server/Enterprise: BusinessObjects XI R2 or BO XIR2 SP4 then Client [End-user] should also be on XIR2/ XIR2 SP4.
    - Also BusinessObjects also recommends that while installation we should install Client product first and then Server product.
    For Example:
If you want to deploy BO Enterprise and CR Designer on same machine then we should install Crystal Reports Designer first and then BusinessObjects Enterprise
There are some common files/dll in CR client and BO server and those dll/ files that common folder used by both i.e. why we always suggest user to install Crystal Reports Designer first and then Enterprise/Server. This is not applicable for Desktop Intelligence because it uses other files.
If we install Sever first and then client then those common file/dll wonu2019t install properly (also might be some Server files or dll gets overwritten by Clientu2019s file/dll) and due to this might Crystal Reports will not work properly i.e. some compatibility issue may come with DLLs.
    Hope this information helps you.
