Lost address bar/area

i've lost my address bar and don't know where to find it.
i've confirmed that it is there in firefox and internet explorer but not safari.
i upgraded to safari 3.2.3 but still no address bar.
i've gone thru all of the preferences and even reset safari but no luck.
any help is appreciated.
thanks,

I have this problem and have tried both solutions listed but it does not appear.
When I open the Customize the address and Google boxes appear, but when closing the Customize window they disappear again.
I have tried resetting Safari and no change.
I have tried closing the window without the address box, selecting an exising window with the box and starting a new window but the new window appears without the address or google box.

Use "Alt" to make sure the menu bar is visible, then View > Toolbars > ... -- make sure that the Navigation bar is checkmarked, if tabs on top is confusing uncheck that, if you want to see menus and title bar make sure menu bar is check-marked.

• Lost address bar on safari

I have lost the address bar on Safari. Any help getting it back?

Hi mbert and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Are you talking about the Address Book not being bookmarked? If so, read on:
If your address book isn’t bookmarked
If you don’t see your address book listed as a collection in your bookmarks library, or the Address Book Collection doesn’t contain any websites, the information here may help.
Here are some things to try:

Choose Safari > Preferences and click the Bookmarks tab. Make sure that Include Address Book is checked. You can add the address book to the bookmarks bar, menu, and/or library (as a collection).

In your address book, check to see if any of your contacts have websites listed in the “home page” field. If no websites are listed, there are no home pages to include as bookmarks.

• Lost address bar, bookmarks

My 80-year-old father, who lives 250 miles from me, called today to tell me that Safari "went crazy" and he had to reboot. When he restarted, all his bookmarks were gone. More seriously, his address bar is gone.
The View menu has a command, "Hide address bar." When he chooses it, it is still gone and it says "Show address bar." When he chooses it, it is still gone. He tried to restore it using the "Customize address bar" command, but the address bar is still gone.
He is running OS X 10.4 on an iMac G5. I suggested he upgrade to 10.4.4, which he did but it did not solve the problem. He tried to install Safari 2.01 for OSX 10.4.4, but it returned an error that it could only be installed on 10.4.4, which is what he was running.
I told him to find his system DVD and reinstall Safari. But for the future, what could cause the disappearance of the address bar? What could cause the loss of bookmarks (which he says he has suffered before)? If bookmarks are lost, can they be restored?
Thanks for any help,
Randal

Let me get this straight . . . your 80-year old father is doing system upgrades and reinstalls? He sounds like one sharp character!
I have no idea how these things got lost, but the bookmarks can be saved and restored. They're at Library/safari/bookmarks.plist. If he has a subscription to dot Mac, he can use the Backup program to back up to an Apple server (called his iDisk), or to DVD, CD, or an external drive.
I think he could also load a "demonstration" version of Backup that would let him backup to CD or DVD, for free, from the dot Mac site at http://www.apple.com/dotmac/
Backup files are compressed. I've not tried it, but I'd guess he could also copy the file to another file and/or CD or DVD.

• Lost Address Bar

I have lost the Web Address Bar in Safari. How do I get it back?
There used to be a Web Address Bar and beside that a Google Search Bar. All that remains is a long Google Search Bar. It is also missing from Default Toolbar in Customize Toolbar. This is what my Customize Toolbar page looks like.....
And this is my Toolbar....
The highlighted blue bar above is the Google Search Bar
Can anyone help,
Thanks

Now its just one. You can't separate it.

• Lost address bar- HELP!

My mouse went crazy making it right click everything. Anyhow, I was trying to get it to get it back to normal and clicking multiple times. Doing that I accidently (somehow) got rid of my url (where the http://www.mac.com goes) bar! Thankfully, I was in safari and at the apple website when I lost the url bar so I could direct myself to the Support>DIscussions. Does anyone know how to get the url bar back? I would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me!
Also, if anyone knows how to keep your mouse from right-clicking everything let me know!

Look in the menu bar under view (I think that's the English translation I work with the Dutch version of Safari, anyway it's left of history) and see if the address bar is still there and click it. That should do it.

• In FF4 while in Private Browsing mode i am unable to use the back or forward buttons, btw right click and back menu option works, just the buttons near the address bar are disabled at all times (this used to work fine in FF3.X)

Which address bar are you reffering to?
Safari ??

• Safari has lost the ip address bar

Safari now is greyed on the upper portion and does not show the ip address bar.

Are you able to select Show Toolbar on the view menu?

• First tab will not close and address bar in tab does not update.

The first tab and its address bar are not working as expected. I am unable to close the first tab using the close icon on the tab or by selecting close tab from right click menu.
I also find that the address bar when displaying the first tab does not display the current web address, only text that has been previously written into the address bar field.

While trying to figure out a solution, I removed my themes and I closed the tabs I could, then clicked on the new tab button, doing so changed my original tab into an (Untitled) tab and created a new (Untitled) tab. I then found I couldn't close either tab, I clicked on new tab again, got a third (Untitled) tab, which again I couldn't close. I then closed Firefox choosing not to save. This appears to have fixed the problem; however I do not know which of the above action(s) resolved it.

• Combined search and a address bar issues.

Hello.
I have OS X Lion on my iMac 27", and my MacBook 13.3". On my MacBook there was an update for safari where the search and address bar are combined into 1, and I updated this via Software update. On my iMac, there is no update and I'm stuck with the old boring Safari.
Please help as I keep typing searches into the address bar by accident and it annoys me.
Thanks in advance.

What is the current setting for the location bar?
* Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History, Bookmarks, History and Bookmarks, Nothing
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Location+bar+autocomplete
You can check these prefs on the about:config page and possibly reset them via the right-click context menu to the default value:
*browser.urlbar.autoFill
*browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled
*browser.urlbar.maxRichResults

• How can I make the font size in my address bar smaller?

On my laptop running Windows XP, Firefox 7, suddenly the font size on my tabs and in the address bar are huge. I have no idea what happened to make them that way. It's horrible.

I finally got the font size issue remedied. I somehow had an add on to make the print large in the address bar. But I have saved your tip to a folder for future reference and thank you so much.
Now if someone could just help me with this crashing business. I can't isolate it because nothing is constant. I unselected hardware acceleration and this is the longest I've gone without a crash, but I'm not thinking I've got it solved.
This is on an old laptop running XP. Firefox was running just fine until yesterday morning when I uninstalled RoboForm and installed LastPass. After that I started getting the crashes, yet I'm not pretty sure they have nothing to do with LastPass itself.

• HELP: Safari Address Bar is missing

Does anyone know what I should do to get my address bar to come back? I have been using my mac mini for a few weeks, including Safari and one day last week when I turned on the PC and Safari my address bar was gone. I have gone into the view tab several times and tried to get the address bar to return but it is missing. I have rebooted and I have reset Safari and still no address bar. What can I do? Thanks

Hi
Go to the View Menu>Customize Address Bar. This will open the Icon panel. You'll see an "Address and Search" bar. Click/Drag it to the Address Bar area of the browser window. Select "done".
