Lost BLOG entries

On our blog ( http://web.mac.com/spraine/Site/Blog/Blog.html ) we have entries up to Sept '08. I just opened iWeb to make some additional entries, but the most current entry is June '08. There are 11 entries that are online but no longer on iWeb.
During this period, my Mac Book Pro was replaced by Apple because it was a Lemon.
I presume if I make new entries in iWeb and update the website, these missing entries will be removed from the web.
Solution = ? Download missing entries to iWeb from the website?
Thx,
Steve

I was working with a new blog entry, when iWeb suddenly quit unexpectedly. I've never been good at hitting the save button, so all my work was lost.
I do run backup with TM, so thought there might be a slim chance that all was good, but alas...
I find the Domain.sites2 file in TM, but when I hit restore this does not change anything! It does not matter which date I try to restore from... iWeb still looks exactly as I left it last. So there must be something I'm doing wrong. Can anyone enlighten me?
    Tnks!!

to restore a file (or folder) with TM you launch TM and go back to the time you want, select the item (iPhoto library in this case) and click restore

  • Lost iWeb '09 Blog Entries

I kept a number of blogs pertaining to my pregnancy and several other topics. A few months ago, I moved the blogs from my main site and created a new site I called Archive. My plan was to publish these to a folder for backup purposes, but the publish always fails.
My larger problem is that now, the blog entries seem to be...not gone, exactly, but I can't see them. On two, the main blog page shows up, and when I click on Entries, I can see the list of my entries and their titles, but I can't scroll through them (list snaps back if I release the mouse button). I can't click on them either. One blog works just fine. One shows the main splash page, but shows only the background of the Entries page.
iWeb won't let me move these out of my Archive site. I have been unable to publish them to MobileMe or to a folder. I've tried deleting plists, etc. but nothing works. Restoring from backup messes up my current sites.
Help, please. I'd like to not lose these. Are these files alive somewhere?

The entries are kept on the MobileMe server I believe and are linked to your main site. If you can move those blog sites back into your main site you might be able to get the entires back. No guarantee however.

  • Can't find my blog entries in iWeb.

I had just made several days worth of blog entries in iWeb and saved them.
I went to publish them, and now all of my blog entries seem to have disappeared.
All I see is my "About Me" page.  I see no blog entries.
My desktop file does not appear to have been updated with the blog entries either.
I'm hoping my new entries are not lost as I spent hours making them.

The "http://web.mac.com/yourname/" approach only seems to show the very first site I made. Is there any way to list all pages I have made? Without using iweb?
Well, your old page might still be there. Check in
    this path:
    iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/...
Do you see two folders or one? If you only see one,
then your old pages were probably overwritten. If
you see two folders, then presumably the folder names
represent your old site from the old powerbook and
the new dummy site that you just created. If so,
then you can just point your browser to this address
    to access the old website...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/oldsite/
The new sites that you publish on your new MBP (I'm
jealous, btw) can be accessed via the usual URL...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/
Unfortunately, even if the folder containing your old
website is on your iDisk, there is currently no way
to get it back into iWeb for editing or revising.
Your only recourse is to recreate the site on your
new MBP. In the future, if you ever move machines
again, just be sure to transfer the "Domain" file
which is located in this path...
    Users/yourname/Library/Application
    Support/iWeb/Domain
This file is where iWeb keeps everything about the
website that you create. Transferring it to a new
machine enables iWeb to pick up right where it left
    off on an old machine.
Of course, I've assumed through this whole message
that you don't have access to this "Domain" file from
your old powerbook, do you? If you do, then you're
    in luck!
    Good luck!

  • How to delete a blog entry in Lion Server Wiki?

Anyone know how to do this?  It seems that even logged in as system administrator you cannot delete blog entries using the web interface.
Wiki help unhelpfully reports that "If Delete Page or Delete File isn't listed, you can't delete the page or file.".  Really?
Thanks in advance for any help avail.

The above works most of the time, but sometimes User accounts can be stubborn.  I setup an admin account, perhaps unecessarily, when installing lion on a new solid state hard drive.  After migrating my original Admin account over from the hard drive I had difficulty in removing the newly created Admin (method: I clicked the minus and deleted the home folder, checking 'erase home folder securely') which resulted in the acct. being downgraded to Standard.  Still it would show up at startup login screen.  Although logging in to this account (to attempt to logout and then reattempt the delete) was not possible (never ending spinning beachball - not what you want with 20G RAM and a top end SSD).
    Then I found this -

  • Blog entry didn't show up on blog summary page. ¿Por qué?

    RE: Blog
Last night I wrote a blog entry, but the first few sentences did NOT show up on the blog summary page. I previously had set the blog entry length to be short (toggled far to the left), but there is a difference between a short length and NO length at all.
Why do you suppose this happened?
INFORMATION: Prior to writing the blog entry I was having difficulty with the picture not showing up on the blog entry page, and in trying to edit it and move text around I might have messed up some registration lines, or LINES. Could that have had an effect? I must say that of all the things involved in iWeb, this Blog feature has given me the most problems and made me the angriest. Just thinking about it right now has created a tight knot in my chest.

Go back to your main blog summary page in iWeb. Open
the Inspector to the RSS tab and slide the text
excert slider to show ALL (all the way to the right).
Does ANY of your blog text show up in this
    particular entry?
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
Well, Inspector Tseng, I toggled to the *Show All* position, and heheheh, none of the blog entry showed on the blog summary page.
If not, then perhaps you entered
your text in a different text box....did you add a
text box to the page? If it does, then maybe you
have some preceding spaces in the text box? Or
maybe you inserted a photo into the text box
    inadvertently?
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
James, last night I was having so many dang blasted flippin cockamamie problems with the picture that I moved a bunch of things around and recall making a new text box and typing into it. Grrrr.
I am going to return there and copy and paste and delete that page. I feel very bad that I cannot master the blog after so much stupid time. I also think that the blog needs to be more idiot proofed so that normally OK actions in other iWeb scenarios don't end up as yet another disaster on the ash heap of broken iWeb dreams.

  • Blog Summary Page: Pictures in blog entries are gone

All of my blog entries on the blog summary page no longer display images set inside the text of an entry. Is this an iWeb 2.0 bug or "feature"?
This is annoying, because with iWeb 1 I was able to share these pictures in my blog summary page and RSS feed. Now my blog and RSS readers have to click the "read more" link to see any pictures, even though I have set my blog summary length to the total entry.
This is a serious loss of feature for no good reason, and I hope this is considered a bug and will be fixed soon.

I was just getting ready to post a similar question when I ran across yours. I've been using Rapid Weaver for my blog and was thinking about switching over to iWeb, but until the pictures start showing up on the summary page (inside the text of an entry), iWeb is utterly non-functional for my purposes.
The other thing I noticed is that none of the formatting (like bold or italics text) shows up inside the text of an entry on the summary page either.
I, too, am very interested in whether this is a "bug" or a "feature."

  • Blog summary page echoes blog entry but not the pic...?

My blog summary page echoes my blog entries' text but not the image file.  I either get the stock photo that comes in the template, or no image at all.  What's wrong?

Never mind folks...Once I submitted this, I found an identical query in the "More LIke This" box at the side of this page that gave me my answer.  I have another question now that I'll pose in a new thread...

  • Help, my new Blog entries, since iLife '08 upgrade, don't show ANY text!

Ever since upgrading to iLife '08, my new Blog entries do not show any of the text once it is uploaded to the server. In fact, all of my recent Blog entries now have all thier text gone when viewed online. Only Blog pages in "Archives" are still normal. What gives?! They all look good in iWeb, but not live. Thanks for your help. Wayne
    [email protected]

Hi Cedric. I went ahead and took down all recent changes to my site, and then just re-uploaded my last good set-up from iLife 2006. I think iLife 2008 changes how blog pages are addressed. As an example, my two most recent good entries show on the web as:
    http://waynelhenderson.com/Blog/693901ED-99E6-42D3-8AA9-7F8338989B47.html
    http://waynelhenderson.com/Blog/629035FF-E021-4B9D-AFE5-D091583E0676.html
Notice the long string of numbers, letters, and dashes, after the word /Blog/? My iWeb in iLife 2008 no longer puts those types of strings at the end of /Blog/. Instead, the Blog web entries show as:
http://waynelhenderson.com/Blog/Entries/2007/10/26Tuning_In_With_Wayne_Henderson_podcast_39_%26_40%2C_by_Wayne_Henderson_Voice-ove rs(206)984-1446iPhone_GreenpeacePackers!.html (before I took it down because it wasn't working right).
Could the fact that instead of the string of number, letters, and dashes after /Blog/, my iLife '08 uses "/Blog/Entries/2007/10/26_Tu....etc" have anything to do with my problem of text not showing?
I've always used the same fonts, sizes, and colors. But now it's not working. What is weird, however, is that if I did Select All, and Copy and Paste the web page contents onto Notepad...the text IS THERE...just not showing on the web.
    Argh!

  • Publishing One Blog Entry At a Time

I am going to use my website and blog page for a class I am going to teach, and I will use my blog page to assign journal assignments. I would like to do some of these in advance, but I only want to publish one entry at a time. Does that make sense? Can I do such a thing?
    Thanks!

I don't think you can selectively withhold the publication of blog entries — once they're created, they're all published next time you publish.
Problems with iWeb's blog are a recurring theme on these forums and it's advisable not to use it for important projects — or perhaps for anything! ...For a success story with a non-iWeb blog hosted on WordPress, see this old thread:
To blog or not to blog
And to link to an external blog from iWeb's navbar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (Actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • How do I change the order of blog entries?

How can I change the order of my blog entries? I want to add some extra items with an earlier date but iWeb won't let me drag the entries around and insists they must stay in the order of the creation date. What do I do?
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Chris...
yeah, I'm probably not making myself clear... change the date on the podcast page entry. Select the entry you want to edit, then move your mouse down to the actual page that appears below. On that page, below the title, is a date. Change that. It will change the date published in the entry list above.
    Sunday, March 6, 2006
This is the standard listing... day spelled out, Month and day number, year. iWeb has to see it in this format to make the changes above.

  • Restrictions on the size of blog entry

When I publish a blog entry 200 words about it is appeared properly. But if I write a great article, I see only a blank space on the blog page. But on the front page of the blog in summary form, everything is fine. Does anyone know what is the problem.

You might take a look at your System Profiler description of the machine.  Select "About this Mac" from the Apple menu, then click the "More Info" button (at least that's what is says in Tiger).  Or you can just launch System Profiler from the Utilities folder.
In either event, you will open to a Hardware Overview like this (except yours will be for the laptop)
    Hardware Overview:
      Machine Name:          Power Mac G5
      Machine Model:          PowerMac7,2
      CPU Type:          PowerPC 970  (2.2)
      Number Of CPUs:          2
      CPU Speed:          2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU):          512 KB
      Memory:          5 GB
      Bus Speed:          1 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:          5.1.4f0
(Note, if you post, do not post your machine's serial number, which will be in the display.)
That being said, my TiBook from 2003 now has a 160G Hitachi Travelstar in it, which was the largest IDE little drive I could get at the time.  If your machine is in that time frame or newer, you can put in pretty much anything they make now.  Of course, if it is truly a MacBook, then the SATA laptop drives are getting very big.
You can get some more information at this OWC link which will allow you to see how big an IDE drive you can put into a G5 PowerBook.

  • Photo problems in blog entries...

I am having problems with photos and images displaying in blog entries. I am able to place photos in the text of my blog entries but upon publishing some will display and some won't (in any web browser or system used).
I have tried emptying Safari caches and reloading pages but to no avail. Some photos are still missing (they are displaying as a small question mark when viewed online).
What's worse is that reinserting the photos in iWeb and then republishing will make some of the missing photos appear on my site while others that were displaying okay previously will now be gone.
The result is that many of my blog entries are always missing photos.
Examples of this can be seen by clicking to view the various entries here:
    http://web.mac.com/jtbcmac/iWeb/MaiTai/MontrealTiki/Archive.html
    and here:
    http://web.mac.com/jtbcmac/iWeb/MaiTai/OtherArticles/Archive.html
I am currently trying to reload things, so pages may or may not look ok when you view them.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    UPDATE:
All seems to be fine now... after making minor changes on each of the affected pages and republishing a couple of times.
But I have a feeling the problem will re-occur... as it has in the past... when I make a new blog entry.

  • Photos in text of blog entry do not port to main blog page

I have posted before about the photos from my entry page disappearing when ported to my main blog page. I have yet to find a solution so I'm asking for help again.
I'm am trapped using iWeb 1.1 until I find a solution. I use the Modern Template with modifications. Usually I delete the snowboarding surfer placeholder. Please note I'm not concerned that this photo doesn't port. I don't want it to. I do however need the photos that I have embedded via text wrap within my blog entry to port to the main blog page. They do not.
I have tried keeping the snowboarder place holder and redoing entries with wrapped text, but my additional photos are still missing. I have checked the box in iWeb 2 that says show photos. My layouts conveted to iWeb 2 look perfect on the entry's page, and horrible with missing photos on the summary page.
This problem is beyond frustrating. My blog can be seen here, however it is still the iWeb 1.1 format.
    http://web.mac.com/knittsings/iWeb/knittsings/knittsings/knittsings.html
As you can see, almost all my entries have numerous photos. I want them to display on the main blog page.
Am I missing something very basic? I have seen others with this same question but no one seems to have had any luck resolving this problem.
    Thanks,
    Kathryn

  • Issue with Blog entry length

Okay, so i create a blog with pictures that are very long (several pictures made into one in photoshop). When i'm editing the blog entry in iWeb, everything looks fine. When i view it in the browser the page cuts off half way and moves the next and previous buttons up to where it cuts off. In iWeb i set the page length to be 4000pixels, which is more than enough...but it doesn't show up that way in the browser.
My solution right now is to open the html file in dreamweaver and change the length pixels to 3000, which works fine. The problem is that anytime i do work in iWeb, it'll automatically save it back to it's version...so i'd have to change every blog entry every time i do anything to the website! WHAT A PAIN!!!
Anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution? Is Apple listening? FIX THE BUGS!

This seems totally illogical to me, because if the picture is in the body, the footer should come after the body. I should have to extend a footer to have an entire picture in the body show up.
Either way, i obviously did it (because all your other advice is accurate), and of course it works....sort of.
Okay, so now i CAN see the entire picture, however, Next and Previous still show up mid way through the picture. yet in the editor they are under the picture. SO, i thought i'd just drag them down a ways and sort of gage how much extra space is needed. So in the editor there would be a huge gap under the picture before these arrows show up. Unfortunately, this didn't work, the next and previous buttons still who up mid way over the picture. GAH?
Is there a fix for this? I haven't really bothered playing around with it, 'cause i spent soo much time last night trying to figure out why adding another blank page caused all my other pages to alter.
Thanks for your help on all my issues Ethmoid!
