Lost Font Settings

I built a GUI with a GridBagLayout with two columns. Each column has a series of components. One of the columns contains JLabels, with the Font set to italic and bold (using the JLabel's setFont() method and a Font defined as an instance variable.):
Font labelFont = new Font("Arial", Font.BOLD + Font.ITALIC, 12);
sponsorLabel = new JLabel("Sponsor: ");
sponsorLabel.setFont(labelFont);
sponsorPanel.add(sponsorLabel);
The problem occurred when I decided to place the components in each column in a JPanel (one for each column.) Suddently, the italicizing and bolding disappears, even though the setFont() methods are still invoked in the code.
Anyone have an idea why this would happen?

>
Font labelFont = new Font("Arial", Font.BOLD + Font.ITALIC, 12);
The style parameter is an integer bitmask. Try doing:
Font labelFont = new Font("Arial", Font.BOLD|Font.ITALIC, 12);

  • Where can I change the font settings for the name of the month in iPhoto's calendar project?

    where can I change the font settings for the name of the month in iPhoto's calendar project?  I just ordered two copies of a calendar I designed in iPhoto and was surprised to find that the calendar's months were printing in something like an Arial 10 pt font.  On previous calendars I've printer via iPhoto and Apple, the font was much larger.  I've tried every menu option in iPhoto and the Calendar Project program and can't find where this is modifyable. Which leads me to ask, what the heck happened here in the first place?  I did not consciously change the default.
    I do remember that I got some notice when I first tried to print the calendar about the default font having been changed, but I don't know how this could have happened, and I didn't know what impact that had on the calendar until it was delivered.  I typically print about a dozen annual calendars but won't buy another until I've got a handle on this problem.  For the most part, the rest of the calendar is okay.
    As a P.S. is there anywhere where one can get a power user's manual, or instruction on iPhoto?

    "Maximum" and "12" usually refer to compression (influencing image quality and jpeg file size in bytes); and as Curt wrote, dpi is meaningless for display by and viewing in web browsers.  (It could be a different matter if you are uploading the jpeg files for someone to download from the web to print.)
    What are the sequence of steps that you and your batch processing take from Bridge?
    You can use call Photoshop's Image Processor from Bridge to create the jpeg files  (Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor).  In the Image Processor you can set jpeg compression, pixel dimensions if desired, also convert to sRGB (good idea for web display).  In my experience the image processor leaves unchanged whatever dpi is set in the source file; or, if none there as might be for a pdf, it will set the dpi value in your New Document Preset Print Resolution (from your Photoshop Units & Rulers preferences).

  • How do I recover a "lost" font in Pages?  The font file appears to exist in my MS Office area.

    How do I recover a lost font in pages?  The font management process seems very opaque, lots of areas on the hard drive with font folders.  None seems to match the list of fonts I can pull down from the font menu in Pages.  At the moment, the font I need is Century Gothic, which does reside in the MS Office area, but nowhere else that I can find.  Would greatly appreciate help!
    thanks much,  Eilert

    Thanks for the idea, fruhulda.  I just checked (Jul 18) and the "missing" font is there.  However, yesterday I tried a full restart of my computer, and it seemed to fix (?) the problem, so I still am not sure what happened.  At any rate, the problem is now gone.

  • Windows 8.1 Update Causes Lost Brightness Settings / Screen is Dim

     I updated from Windows 8 to 8.1 and the next day my screen went dim and I could not adjust it neither with the keyboard +/-, nor with the onscreen graphics dashboard, nor within the power settings.
    How do you fix it?

    Sometimes Windows updates will break your graphics driver. That is because Intel and NVidia do not update their graphics drivers on the same schedule that Microsoft
    updates Windows, and sometimes the updates are incompatible and cause the graphics driver to do wonky things. In my case that came in the form of lost brightness settings.
    I searched these forums for a fix and I could not find one, so now that I know the answer, I am sharing it here.
    How do you fix it? You have to reinstall the graphics driver. This is how I did it.
    I found the graphics driver install file that was already on my computer and I ran it. It reinstalled the driver in about 5 seconds and my screen brightness functionality was restored.
    Where is my graphics driver install file? On my computer it is here:
    D:driversVGAIntelx649.17.10.2932\Setup.exe
    Yours is probably in a different but similar location depending on how it was installed and what brand it is, etc. I have a Lenovo
    P400 touchscreen laptop with an Intel HD 4000 Graphics.

  • Font settings keep changing when I restart Mail

    I've noticed over the past few days that whenever I restart Mail, my font settings keep changing, so I have to keep going back in and adjusting them.
    Anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?
    I did a search in this forum, but didn't see anything about this.
    Thanks!

    I should clarify that this happens after I restart my computer, then open Mail. If I close Mail, then reopen it, without restarting, then this does not happen.

  • Tumblr breaks advanced font settings in Firefox, all Win and Mac versions

    tumblr.com and tumblr.com/dashboard do not support, or break, the ability to choose your own fonts in Firefox. The problem affects Firefox 12-14 on Windows OS, and may also affect Firefox for the Mac.
    The problem: unchecking the option "allow pages to choose their own fonts" does not produce the expected result; the user font settings are ignored by tumblr. There is already extensive documentation of the problem in the forums including screen shots and font info.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/932614?s=font+override+ignored+by+website&r=2&as=s
    The problem is easy to recreate.
    The mystery is: how is tumblr screwing up ''do/do not allow pages to choose their own fonts'' in Firefox? Is it a problem in CSS? Something else?

    I can make Firefox use the selected default font on Linux, so it is possible.
    Firefox uses Nimbus Sans L Regular instead of Helvetica

  • How to limit the Font Settings Authorization ?

    Hi ,
    I have given NO Authorization for the Document Settings under the General for a User, but when i logged IN after limiting the Authorization i could find the Font Settings Icon when logged on.
    How to hide the Font Settings Icon for a User?

    Hi Nagarajan,
    It has worked out.   Thanks for your reply.
    I have one more doubt.
    i have created a Additional Authorization Creator for one of the UDF Field and its working fine,  but the issue is i need to block only one UDF which i have created.
    For Eg.
    There are some 5 UDF in a marketing document, namely
    UDF 1 - Transport Name
    UDF 2 - Transport Type
    UDF 3 - Vehicle Number
    UDF 4 - Driver Number
    UDF 5 - Driver Name
    I need to block only the UDF 5 from changing and the other UDF's can be changed.
    The Additional Authorization Creator which i created block's me from changing all the five UDF Values instead of only that UDF 5 .
    What could be reason?  Should i need to give any  Form Number like what i give  63771 which is for Form Settings?

  • System wide font settings

    I am a websdite designer / developer and I am noticing that I may have accidently hit a key combination that has changed my system wide font settings...
    I have a co-worker, same hardware / software and my browsers render my code different. Same browser, same versions, etc.
    It seems my fonts a slightly larger, etc.
    Can someone please direct me toward the system settings to fix this? Ive checked my settings and have yet to come across anything that
    seems like it has helped at all. Its every browser for me, safari, chrome, firefox, etc.
    I have checked 4-5 other mac computers and all render properly.
    Thank you

    I found the issue.
    The site I built is rendering RALEWAY from google fonts... but since i have Raleway installed in my fonts, in my font book, its using my computer to render the font rather than google fonts for some reason. I disabled my raleway font in font book and now it renders properly...

  • Allow Custom Font Settings on SQL Dev

    Hi,
    Well this is just simply a polite bump on my request.
    I had posted on the forum about setting font on various SQL Dev component more that two years ago.
    2.1.1 UI : Inconsistency Fonts setting on SQL Dev
    And put on Exchange here :
    https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=43135:7:242850196580001::NO:RP,7:P7_ID:23701
    Well, to be honest, it seems although each released of SQL Dev introduced new feature, many of the users requested features on Exchange are simply neglected.
    Quite sad though, as the Exchange should be considered as the main customers wish to see on the next version.
    I just curious to know which any of the top 20 of the request marked as implemented on this SQL Dev 3.2?
    Even for this request status is Open for more than two years, and not even a single comment from the team.
    Perhaps they don't even care to read the Exchange though.
    And this new 3.2 coming out without early adopter release as it used to be.
    Well, for the bugs (or missed bugs) I've seen from some of the posts here, would simply have to wait another 6 months from now.
    What a waste....
    What I've seen is this long cycle issue has caused lots of retiring 'used-to-be-active' users.
    To put on weight for my request,
    Isn't it funny that you cannot distinguish the query result grid between 'Oracle' and '0racle' from this 0racle's tool (or was it Oracle's)?

    Hi,
    In User Interface perspective, mostly stands for, What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG).
    Maybe that's what Sven's referring to, and that's one of the reason I started this thread.
    Let's just wait for the team to decide the broad range of Font settings which are customizable, perhaps including Edit dialog as one of the customizable. And let the forums to give their opinion.

  • Windows font settings produce incorrect appearance

    I have developed an application on a Windows 2000 machine using standard font settings. When compiled and running on a machine with large (125% of the normal 96dpi font) settings... the text runs off the buttons, out of the boxes... everything is messed up. Is there a way to maintain a standard interface that won't change sizes for different users based on whatever their particular font settings are? Do I have to use non truetype fonts to get this effect? I would like a user to be able to run the install program for my application without having to go find a small/large font configuration setting that is six options deep.

    If you have chosen the application to use "application font" then that means the font will vary with the default on the machine it is run on....If however you instead specify a specific font then it will not change size or design, on the other side you will need to ensure that that font is installed...
    You do not need to change the font to a custom one everytime, just set the default in the font section of Options.

  • Lost fonts

    The Contribute editing options for "Fonts" differs between
    users within our office -they use to all be consistent. Looks like
    somehow changes have been made to our editing options and some of
    our default "Font" options are missing. I still have more options
    than the other users here, who now only have Times New Roman - not
    just on the edit mode for the homepage but for all pages. We'd like
    to have all options restored for everyone and to ensure we all have
    consistent editing capabilities. Not sure if something has to be
    reset for our intranet templates to achieve this??

    I am the Administrator and the post is what a client sent me.
    The Styles and Fonts settings are open and everything should be
    available for all users But the homepage doesn't allow the user to
    change fonts. The rest of the site does. But apparently some users
    don't have the fonts on all pages.
