Lost iPhone without contacts backed up

My dad lost his iPhone today somewhere out in a 2,000 acre ranch and he can't find it. I didn't set up his backups so I don't think we have a current back up of his contacts. I can see the phone in the Find iPhone app, and have contact with it. Is there any way I can back up his contacts virtually even though we can't physically find it? I'm desperate -- and 8 hours away from being able to help at all. It is an iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1.2 on it.
Thanks!
Lorie

No. I was afraid of that. I was just hoping there was some way we could manage it from afar. Darn it.
Thanks!

  • Lost iphone, retrieving contacts ?

    Hello,
I lost my iphone, and i'd like to retrieve my contacts saved in itunes without using another Iphone, and I did not synchronize my contacts with outlook. Is that possible because i have an another phone which is not an iphone (for the moment) so i would like to know if i can get my contacts back ?
    Thanks everybody for your answer.

Since you have lost your iPhone, you cannot restore with iTunes. However, as long as you have an iTunes backup, you can extract the lost contacts from previous iTunes backup using an iPhone backup extractor.
Even if you haven’t backed up your iPad with iTunes manually, iTunes might have backed up it automatically each time you sync your iPhone 3GS with iTunes.
In addition, you can copy the contacts from your old phone to your phone, or sync the phone with some cloud service that you used to sync your iPhone data previously, e.g. Google Contacts. This 6-method iPhone contacts recovery blog will be helpful.

  • How can I retrieve texts and photos from a lost iPhone without backup?

I recently lost my iPhone at a concert and unfortunately, it was never connected with iCloud, nor was it backed up to iTunes. I got a new iPhone and connected it to iTunes. I have my contacts (taken from my sister's iPhone) and voicemails, but nothing else. I would really like my old text messages and photos, but have no idea what to do in order to get them. Please help! And like I said, backing up will not work, and I tried to use iphonebackupextractor.com also.

Let me get this straight.....You lost your phone.  You never backed it up, either to your computer or to a cloud service.
How in the world would you expect to get data back?

  • How to erase and restore an iPhone without using back-up

This might be a common question, but here it goes...
I am in need of setting up an iPhone 4S as a new device without restoring it from the back-up. Most of my contents are on iCloud (calendar, contacts, reminders, safari bookmarks, and notes), so I'm not worried about those data. And I am comfortable with downloading apps by hand. I'm also willing to configure all settings again.
However, I am concerned about other data, such as photos, iMessages and SMS messages, music, voicemail, and such. I've given up on the call history.
I did transfer purchases from the phone to my iTunes, and I also sync'ed the device. But I'm not sure if it means whether the above types of data are sync'ed to my computer, and how I can restore them back to the phone once I erase the phone.
Is this possible? Is there a document that details how this can be done? Can this be done purely with iTunes and Finder or do I need a third party app to help me with this?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the response! As for photos, yes, I can see iPhoto as an option. Would uploading them back to the phone equally easy? Would it be through iPhoto as well?
It's equally easy, but they won't go back into the Camera Roll. Instead, iPhoto albums are uploaded to the Photo app. You do this with iTunes. Connect the phone, click on its name in iTunes, then the Photos tab, and select the albums you want on the phone. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236 for more details.

  • Lost iPhone 4 Contacts

I emptied my Mac laptop address book thinking that next time I sync'd my iPhone with the laptop I'd get the address book from my iPhone... wrong. I was left with only 2 contacts and lost over 180, not a good start.
However, I have a simple solution, try going to 'settings', 'mail, contacts, calendars' and 'import SIM contact'. Chances are you migrated your contacts from an old phone and they're there.
I will find a better back-up solution in future! Hope this helps...

I would hope so. All you need is an external hard drive.

  • Is it possible to track down my lost iPhone without the "Find my phone"-thing?

I´ve lost my iPhone 5 and I dont have Find my iPhone activated on the phone. Is it possible to track it down without it?

If it is with iOS8: nobody will be able to use it, just a bit of junk. So this might help in having the honest finder to contact you or the police.

  • Lost iPhone without Find my iPhone app

Lost my iPhone and the phone was turned off. Did not register Find my iphone app and not using iCloud but the phone is locked so passcode is needed.
Is there anyway that the person that took the iPhone can access to the information in my phone? If the person connect the phone to a PC/laptop, what are the info that he/she can get? I'm sure the photo albums can be accessed.
When the phone is off, can the person use siri to call 'home' and get to see my 'home' number?
    Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Off on an iPhone is off, nothing works. Since you did not turn on/activate Find My Phone, there is no way to locate it now, other than physically looking for it. Unless whoever finds your phone can guess the passcode, they will have to force the phone into recovery mode & restore it to remove the passcode. This will delete all data on the phone. However, the phone will be useless to them, as it cannot be re-activated without knowing your Apple ID/Password.
You should change your Apple ID password NOW.

  • HOw can i locate a lost iphone without the "find my iphone" app

MY daughter has lost her ipod 4g.  I previously was able to locate her via the find my iphone app, however, her ipod no longer shows up on my device list since its been gone.  Any suggestions?  Or should i just consider it gone forever?

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • Lost iphone without find my iphone turned on. A Few questions

Somebody slipped their hand and took my iphone from my pocket
    1. I had a 4 digit passcode on my iphone. Will the thieve be able to access any of my data?
    2. Find my iphone was turned off. is there any way apple support can remotely wipe my iphone for me?
    3. will they be able to restore the iphone and use it as their own?

    Read this
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support
Note Apple do NOT track or search for  stolen iPhones nor take any other action ...that is what Find-My-iPhone is for
unless they can guess  the passcode ,only way to break it is to restore the iPhone as new ,wiping all contents

  • How to find a lost iPhone without the find my iPhone app ?

i lost my iphone and need help finding it.However, idont have the find my iphone app

If you enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost, you may be able to locate it on icloud.com as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.  If you didn't enable Find My iPhone on it before it was lost, there is no way to track it.  You'll have to try calling your number to see if anyone answers or physically look for it.

  • Found a lost iPhone without a sim

How would I go about finding the original owner? It's password protected too and I tried a few common combinations with no avail.

Is there no way to find out their details with the serial and stuff? Would prefere doing that as I'd have to pay for a train journey, if not I'll have to do that I guess!

  • How to sync iPhone 4 contacts to Mac address book

    Hello!
I can sync all my contacts from the Mac address book on my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4. However, why does it not sync the iPhone contacts to the Mac address book? Should it not be like a two way sync? I was looking at the syncing options but it does give that option. I just want to make sure that I have the same contacts on my iPhone and Mac. I do understand that MobileMe does that. But till I can afford to have MobileMe, maybe there is another solution?
    Anybody... help!

I had a major drama doing this last night, have managed to restore my Address Book file with a backup after I mistakenly wiped all the contacts I had created on my iPhone. Yikes! I suggest when you sync your iPhone leave it plugged in after the sync until you check that the contacts are all where they should be. That way, the most recent backup that is done automatically when you plug in the iPhone will still have all your iPhone contacts should something go amiss and they can be restored. Also export your computer's Address Book (File>Export in Address Book) which should land in your Documents folder.
To get all my iPhone's contacts back into my Mac's Address Book, I created a group in my Mac Address Book called 'iPhones contacts'. When I synced the iPhone with my Mac, (Info tab>Sync Address Book Contacts in iTunes), I checked the box that says 'Add contacts created outside of groups on this iPhone to...' and checked the new 'iPhone contacts' group and when I synced, all the new contacts on the iPhone landed in my Mac's Address Book. Phew. Heartstopper!
