LOV dynamic refresh in CR2008 with BOXI3.1

Hi,
I'm in a confusion whether the LOV for the prompts refresh dynamically when the crystal report is opened.
It is a universe based report. I heard, in XIR2 it is a problem and it wont behave similar to WebI.
When i tried in CR 2008 with BOXI3.1 unvierse, it DID refreshed dynamically and the LOV was changing for every user as row level security was applied. But at times, it doesnt refresh, which puzzles me.
Will the LOV refresh dynamically in CR2008 with BOXI3.1or it will not?
Please confirm.Many thanks.

Yes it refreshes the LOV from Universe. For more details please go through the following document
[http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/20984c2b-17f1-2b10-1091-d18977f7cd8f&overridelayout=true]
in CRXIR2 if it is not refreshing the LOV from universe we have to follow these steps
Registry Entry Information
Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREBusiness ObjectsSuite 11.0Crystal ReportsDatabaseAlwaysRefreshUniverseLOV
Type: STRING
Recognized Values: Yes, 1
Default Value:
Creation Method: Hot Fix Installation
Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEsoftware usiness objectssuite 11.5crystal reportsdatabaseAlwaysRefreshUniverseLOV
Type: STRING
Recognized Values: Yes,1
Default Value: 0
Creation Method: Hot Fix Installation
Known limitations:
When this registry key is in use, it may take longer to open a universe report in Crystal Reports designer or to view a report on-demand in a Business Objects Enterprise web application. Performance is affected because the Business Objects Enterprise Web Intelligence Report Server is called when a report that is based on a universe is opened, which adds more work to the server.
In XIR2, the "Always Refresh List of Values" check box must be selected within the report. This option is on the Query Panel of Crystal Reports, within the properties of the object in the Query Filters section for each object that uses a list. By default, the "Always Refresh List of Values" option is enabled.
In a universe, the object being used must have the "Automatic refresh before use" property enabled. For more information, see the "Using lists of values" section in chapter five of the Designer Guide.

  • Need help with OA Framework. Enable/Disable LOV dynamically

    Hello,
    I am new to OA Framework. My requirement is as follows;
    The page should have a field with parameter org code (LOV). When the user selects an org and click GO button, the page should display all the inactive items (which have no Sales order or work order for last 2 years). In the table region, user selects single record or multiple records by a check box. The selected records should be processed after clicking a submit button in the table region. The process is, calling an API to change the status of the item to Inactive or some other status. The status should be determined by the user by selecting a LOV within the table region. I could create LOV based field for org code and could display the data on the page. I have been trying to display the LOV for item status , I have created a LOV under table region under table components > table actions. I could open the LOV and select a value, but the value is not defaulting to the field on the page. Somebody please help me with a suggestion or if you have the code for a similar kind of requirement please share with me.
    Also, need some suggestion on how to enable and disable LOV dynamically. I want to display the 2 LOV's in different regions. I want to enable the LOV for Item Status only after the org code is selected and the page populated after the user clicks GO button.
    Thanks in Advance…..

    Hi,
    I could open the LOV and select a value, but the value is not defaulting to the field on the page.pls check the LOV mapping ,this might be wrong.
    to enable/Disable LOV dynamically ,u need to use PPR,please check the lab solution exercise create employee chapter to learn to implement PPR functionality.

  • How to refresh Portal form with dependent LOVs ?

    I have a portal form which has dependent LOVs, the first LOV is
    a Site LOV and the next LOV is a Teacher LOV. Once a Site is
    selected, the form refreshes to load the Teacher's LOV with
    teachers belonging to the selected Site.
    In some cases the Site is assigned internally (using Javascript)
    in such cases the form does not refresh automatically; which
    causes the problem, as all the Teachers of all the Sites are
    loaded in the LOV.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Hilal

    Put this code into the javascript onChange event of the list box
    that you want to automatically refresh the screen with:
    do_event(this.form,this.name,1,'CUSTOM','');
    that should cause the screen to refresh when an item is chosen.
    at that point, the 2nd list box (if you used the :paremter in
    the LOV and bound it to the right field in the form) should come
    up with the proper set of values Thanks Michael,
    But my problem is not with that part of refreshing; that is
    refreshing, when a value is picked from the first LOV to re-load
    the second LOV works fine.
    My problem is only when the value of the first LOV is internally
    set, the form does not refresh to re-load the second LOV. The
    value of the first LOV is loaded(internally) using one of the
    fields in "wwsec_api.person_info", eventhough this value is set,
    it does not trigger a refresh to re-load the dependent second
    LOV.
    I guess a solution to this problem would be to explicitly
    refresh the form (I am not able to figure out how).
    Hope I have clarified myself.
    Thanks.

  • Lov iterator refresh issue

    HI friends!
    I'm using JDeveloper 11g
    I've got a problem with a lov attribute in my application.
    I need to implement the following scenario:
    I have an adf table Licence in my jsf page. One of the table columns includes a lov attribute which values must be selected from a list box (a list data source is LicenceProducer lov view object).
    If there is no required licence producer in the drop down list we can trigger a pop up dilaog (kind of lov dialog) and create a new one row in the data source iterator.
    Then the required attribute value of the newly created row must be passed to the list in the source jsf page and become a currently selected value for the lov attribute of the Licence VO.
    SO i've have implemented almost the whole scenario:
    1. created an appropriate lov attribute in Licence VO with LicenceProducer VO as a list data source
    2. created a bounded adf task flow which is resonsible for displaying the pop up lov dialog with all insert/commit/return new value functionallity.
    Everything works just greate except that the lov iterator is never refreshed after returning from the pop up dialog.
    The updated content of the list box is only seen after reloading the source jsf page. Setting partial page rendering (for the Licence adf table) on returning from the pop up dialog does't work.
    I saw a number of posts on this issue but never found any good solutions.
    I think that i must somehow get an access to the lov iterator (data source vo) wich is not the same as the base LicenceProducer view object and refresh it programmatically.
    PS. if i brought my issue in a not sufficiently clear way. please answer the quite simplier question. Is it possible somehow to add a lov functionallity with the possibility to add new rows into lov iterator?
    Thanks in advance. Alex.

    Thanks friends.
    It is so greate to see somebody notice your question and even have the similar problem.
    First to Paul
    1. Yes I have a model driven LOV, i.e. i defined the lov functionalty for the attribute in a VO.
    2. I'm using JDeveloper 11g as you might be using.
    3. Actually i'm afraid i have not fully understood your approach with a row impl class. AS i could notice there were no worthy changes added into the row impl class after i had redefined VO's attribute to use a lov view object.
    it would be greatly appreciated if you let me know more detail about your solution.
    By the way i have noticed one interesting thing as I was experimenting with my issue. It turned out that the lov iterator refreshes just excellent on returning from a pop up "manually created lov dialog" after i click a rollback button of the data control
    where the VO iterator containing the attribute with the lov functionalty exists. Give it a try and you'll see, no other standard operation button gives the same effect!!!!! I realized it accidentially myself.
    To Hasim
    if i understand you right your assumption is to refresh a row iterator which is the basis for the lov attribute and then refresh a page element where the lov attribute has been dropped?
    If so than i've tried it because this is the first thing comes into mind. But it doesn't work, i think that this basis iterator we select for the list of values of the required attribute in VO is not the same as a real list Datasource iterator...
    If i understood you wrong please give me know and explain please your approach. Your opinion is interesting for me.
    I address our experts ones again with a rather simplier question. Is it possible to create a model driven lov attribute where it would be possible to insert new rows into the list of values during the ongoing user session?
    Alex.

  • Dynamically refresh a list box in a web report

    Dear All,
    I am having a serious issue with one of my web reports. I am using Oracle 9i PL/SQL Cartridges for developing my web reports. The problem is :
    I have a drop down box for department and also a list box for locations.
    I want to dynamically refresh the locations list box whenever the user selects a department.
    I know I have to refresh the page somehow to get the list box requery from the database.
    Can anyone please send me a sample code or suggest how to do it. I am new to PL/SQL cartridges.
    Thank You

    hello,
    althought his is not a PL/SQL cartridge forum i'll give it a shot.
    the basic behind the solution would be that your procedure need input values that would be used to create this cascading effect. so you would have e.g. input values for region and country for a form that should provide selection fro region country and city.
    when the procedure is called for the first time without any parameters, it would generate a drop down list for the first (region) parameter. when the user selects a value javascript would kick in that would submit the form that basically calls itself, but this time passing the value for the region parameter.
    now the procedure would create two drop down lists (region and country) because it had a value passed for region. both drop down lists would have a javaScript event that would submit the form. the only difference would be that the region list would need to clear the value of the country value before submitting so changing the region would produce a new country list.
    i hope that was clear enough. as for the code example. that is simple javaScript and you can find tons of examples on the Web. just look for "JavaScript" and "OnChange".

  • Steps to create LOV dynamically

    Hello All,
    I want to create LOV dynamically.in my Oracle Forms 6I
    Is there any code which can create LOV dynamically using coding.
    I can create Record group dynamically. but I want to create LOV dynamically not from object browser of Form Builder by pressing Add LOV option.
    Kindly help me.
    Thanks
    HARSH SHAH

    Forms does not have a Built-in for dynamically creating an LOV; these objects can only be created in the Forms Builder during design time.  You can, as numerous people have tried to demonstrate, change the Record Group an LOV uses dynamically.  Unless you are changing the Column Mapping Properties of the LOV, using different Record Groups to supply the data for an LOV should work for you.  If you need to change the Column Mapping Properties, then you will need to create multiple LOV objects with the different mapping you need and then assign the LOV to your Item dynamically.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to handle refreshing TEST schema with PRODUCTION schema ?

    - we have database 10g ( standard edition), database name : ABC
    - Schema name: ABC.PRODUCTION (which is our production schema)
    - Schema name: ABC.TEST (which is our testing schema, where developers work)
    Both the production & Test schemas exist in the same database.
    Now once a week I wanted to refresh TEST schema with PRODUCTION data
    Here is what I have been doing all these years:
    => Take a logical backup (EXPDP) of PRODUCTION schema (prod.dmp)
    => Drop user TEST cascade ( i don't need a backup of this TEST schema)
    => Create user TEST
    => Import PROD.DMP data into TEST schema
    All the above 4 steps are being done manually.
    Questions:
    ======
    1. Is there any easier way of doing the above steps using some tool ?
    2. Does Oracle enterprise manager which comes free with database installation (http://localhost:118/em)
    has any utility or tool to do this job ?
    3. I want everything to be refreshed (all database objects including data) ?
    Thanks

    This is crazy. One inadvertent typo and you'll overwrite your Production schema. Plus, what happens if a developer 'tests' against the test schema and slows the Production database to a crawl.
    I presume you know all about this, though and can't make the case to management. I hope it's not a business-critical Production database!
    Anyway, your method is decent. I would advise against doing it automatically, to be honest, especially when your system is so precariously set up. But if you exist, you could use encapsulate all the steps into a script and use crontab to automate the process. I, personally, wouldn't use DBMS_SCHEDULER as you have to be careful with priorities and workload sometimes (at least in my experience) and you might end up having your export/import clash with other jobs in the system if you don't pay attention.
    Here are the steps I would use:
    Create a 'create user' script for the test schema based on dynamic SQL. That way you can be sure you have all the grants necessary for the user, in case things change.
    Drop the test user (use EXTRA caution and be defensive when coding this part!)
    Export the schema using FLASHBACK_SCN to ensure you have a consistent export
    Run your 'create user' script to create the test user
    Import the schema with a REMAP_SCHEMA option (use EXTREME caution with this!!!!)
    Compile invalid objects
    Compare objects and exclude any recycle_bin objects. Send an email alert if the object counts are different.
    Compare invalid objects. Any objects which aren't invalid in Production should be flagged up if they're invalid in test.
    Again, it's absolute insanity to have a test schema in a Production database. You absolutely must insist on addressing that with management.

  • Dynamic Refresh not working

    Hello Experts
    I have a text box and a select list. As soon as the user enters a value in the text box, the select list should refresh depending on the value that has been entered in the text box. I have a query behind the select list which selects from a table where value = text box value.
    To achieve this I created a dynamic refresh on the text box so that it freshes the select list as soon as the focus is lost, but everytime I run the page, a refresh icon appears next to select list but it seems to refresh forever and nothing gets populated in the select list. If I submit the page then the list is populated, but I don't want to submit the page but want to pick up the value from the text box and refresh the select list.
    Any help on this is appreciated.
    Thanks

    You cannot use LoV based on SELECT as the SELECT will execute only when the page is loaded, which you have already noticed.
    What you need to do is construct the HTML fragment for the select list and push it into your HTML DOM as described in Denes Kubicek's demo.

  • Changing LOV Dynamically

    Dear Members,
    I have an OAF Page which has 6 records.
    When user is in first record, I want to attach XXLOV1 to FIELD1 by changing the where clause. Similarly when user is in 2 nd record I want to attach XXLOV1 to FIELD1 by changing the where clause dynamically and so on..
    Kindly please let me know how to acheive this requirement.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Arun Reddy D.

    Hello Anil,
    Thank you very much for your reply. Iam a beginner to OAF.
    Can you please elaborate your answer.
    Actually I have page where I am displaying FIELD1 6 times i.e., 6 records.
    When the cursor is in first record I want to attach the lov with certain query criteria by changing the where clause. Similarly when the cursor is in second record, I want to change the same lov's where clause and attach it to the same field i.e., FIELD1 and son on.
    Here if we have an event to the field how we will know that whether it is first record or second record .... to change the lov query dynamically.
    Here my main problem is Iam not able to find out user is in which record to change the lov dynamically. Can you please give me some hint to find out the record number in which the cursor is so that i can change the lov dynamically.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Arun Reddy D.

    Running a cable to the HDMI port is still supported. (and still works on mine).
    If the Arrangement tab in System Preferences > Displays isn't present then it doesn't recognize the physical connection.  Double check all cables.  If that doesn't work try a PRAM reset:

    Is there any way to combine tabbed panels together with "Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry"?
    Visit: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/best_practices/progressive_enhancement.ht ml#updatecontent
    And click on the "Using Spry.Utils.updateContent()"
    The 3rd example shows how to use a fade transition whenever the content changes.
    I already have tabbed panels. My menu contains buttons (on tabs) and my Content div contains the panels.
    Tabs code;

    and the panel code:
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent" id="Home">
         CONTENT
    </div>
    I hoped i can use the example code from the link into my tabbed panels.
    I thought this code:
    onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;"
    could be added to the tab code like this:
    <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>

    So i changed my header etc, put the SpryEffects.js and SpryData.js into position and nothing changed...
    Is there a way to keep my tabbed panel (or change as less as possible) and let
    A. The fade work
    B. The loading work.
    The problem now is that it loads all pages instead of only the home. Therefore i wanted this Progressive Enhancement.
    And the fading part is just because its nice...

    It doesnt show in the post but off course i changed this link;
    "data/AquoThonFrag.html"
    into;
    "javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);"
    I must say i dont know if this even works...

  • How to populate dynamic internal table fields with data??

    Hi Folks,
    How to assign a particular internal table field to a dynamically assigned internal table?
    I have an excel sheet, and i upload the excel sheet data into an internal IT_EXLOAD table using FM ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE

  • How do I refresh a table with a bind variable using a return listener?

    JDev 11.1.2.1.0.
    I am trying to refresh a table with a bind variable after a record is added.
    The main page has a button which, on click, calls a task flow as an inline document. This popup task flow allows the user to insert a record. It has its own transaction and does not share data controls.
    Upon task flow return, the calling button's return dialog listener is invoked which should allow the user to see the newly created item in the table. The returnListener code:
        // retrieve the bind variable and clear it of any values used to filter the table results
        BindingContainer bindings = ADFUtils.getBindings();
        AttributeBinding attr = (AttributeBinding)bindings.getControlBinding("pBpKey");
        attr.setInputValue("");
        // execute the table so it returns all rows
        OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("ExecuteWithParams");
        operationBinding.execute();
        // set the table's iterator to the newly created row
        DCIteratorBinding iter = (DCIteratorBinding) bindings.get("AllCustomersIterator");
        Object customerId = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getPageFlowScope().get("newCustomerId");
        iter.setCurrentRowWithKeyValue((String)customerId);
        // refresh the page
        AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getFilterText());
        AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getCustomerTable());But the table does not refresh ... The bind variable's inputText component is empty. The table flickers as if it updates. But no new values are displayed, just the ones that were previously filtered or shown.
    I can do the EXACT SAME code in a button's actionListener that I click manually and the table will refresh fine. I'm really confused and have spent almost all day on this problem.
    Will

    Both options invoke the create new record task flow. The first method runs the "reset" code shown above through the calling button's returnListener once the task flow is complete. The second method is simply a button which, after the new record is added and the task flow returns, runs the "reset" code by my clicking it manually.
    I'm thinking that the returnListener code runs before some kind of automatic ppr happens on the table. I think this because the table contents flicker to show all customers (like I intend) but then goes back to displaying the restricted contents a split second later.
    Yes, the table is in the page that invokes the taskflow.

    Step1 - invoke new record task flow
    Step2 - enter data and click Finish
    Step3 - bind parameter / table filter cleared. Table flickers with all values. Table reverts to previously filterd values.

  • Dynamically Refresh Dropdown in JSF

    I wanna dynamically refresh dropdown values. Here is my requirement
    The user creates new record by selecting "New" value from the dropdown. Then user enters values on form fields and clicks the Submit button. The result is record gets created in the database and also gets populated in the dropdown. Now i wanna show this record as selected value in the dropdown instead of New to faciltate update/delete operations.
    Note: The reason i am doing this is subsequent save results in detached object hibernate exception. To resolve this exception if i create a new instance then i will loose the original object so i cant do update/delete on the original object. My backing bean is in session scope
    Any pointers/suggestions will be highly appreciated
    Regards
    Bansi

    What do you mean by preset it by property because the new value is allready set in the backedbean but its not reflected on the page as the drop down doesn't get refreshed.
