LOV Mode (Dynamic List Binding)

Hi All,
I'm trying to work with Dynamic List Binding with LOV Mode.
Could anyone Give me the detail Information about the LOV Mode. What is data source List, what is target list and what is Display attribute. How can we use LOV Mode.
Thanks,

  • Null value in List Binding (enumeration mode)

    Hi,
    how can I declare a NULL value in a List binding with enumeration mode?
    A user should be able to select an empty entry in a combobox to update an attribute with a null value.
    I'm using JDev9052 and JClient.
    Any hints?

    Adding '-1' in JComboBox (addItem(new Integer(-1))) or in the control binding does not change the picture. Sorry.
    While play with different List bindings I have discovered that a Button LOV Binding works when using a "select * UNION select null from dual" view object. It does not work with a Combobox LOV binding. Why?

  • DYNAMIC LOV FOR SELECT LIST

    hi to all,
    i've a question regarding lov query based select list:
    For a certain user i need that the lov display a list
    if app_user = BACK_OFFICE I NEED THAT ther query on wich is populated the
    select list is qry 1.
    if app_user is another (consultant) i need query 2 for populating the select list
    1) select name|| ' ' || fname D, id K from partner
    2) select name|| ' ' || fname D, id K from partner WHERE UNAME=(:APP_USER)
    Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
    Another solution would be to have 2 different apps (one for back-office, one for external consultant), but there i should always duplicate all changes to the second one, loosing a lot of time.
    Now thinking as well to use hidden fields.
    If not clear enough please ask me.
    Thanx a lot.

    I think one solution wold be to create two different named querys, one containing query 1 and the second query 2. Than u must create an Application Item(like a session variable) in wich u will store you condition. If you want to use the app_user variable u allready have it so you don't need to create it any more. On your page where u want to display the different select list u create two items, one with the query 1 as source and a second item(select list) having the source query 2. Then you must add a condition display on both of them like. Item one is displayed when Value of Item in expression 1 equals expression 2. And you pust :APP_USER in expression 1 and BACK_OFFICE in expression 2. And for the other item, that contains query 2, you put the opposite condition Value of item in expression 1 is not equal to expression 2, and expression 1 is :APP_USER and in expression 2 is BACK_OFFICE.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't create multiple dependent LOVs from the same bind variable

    Hi all,
    I'm having difficulty creating multiple dependent LOVs from queries based on the same bind variable in my JSF application (JDev 10.1.3.1). Basically I have a static LOV in a af:selectOneChoice component from which users select a value which then becomes the bind variable value for two separate queries that generate two different dependent LOV. Having developed the code along the lines of Steve Muench 's blog (http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/2006/04/03.html#a685), the first dependent LOV works really well. The first dynamic LOV gets refreshed whenever the list from the static LOV changes, and I can execute other queries based on the values selected.
    The problem arises when I want to create the second dynamic/dependent LOV that has the same bind variable based on the same selected value from the static LOV. Here I would also like the functionality whereby the second dynamic LOV is also refreshed after the selected value in the static LOV changes. Thinking that all I had to do was replicate the methodology used in creating the first dependent LOV, I created the second iterator, invokeAction and other binding components in the PageDef. The executable section now looks like the following:
    <iterator id="SelectStaticQueryViewObjIterator"
                  Binds="SelectStaticQueryViewObj" RangeSize="-1"
                  DataControl="DMSApplicationModule1DataControl"/>
    <invokeAction id="refreshDynamicQuery1BindParameter"
                  Binds="ExecuteWithParams1" Refresh="prepareModel"
                  RefreshCondition="#{empty requestScope.VariableChanged}"/>
    <iterator id="SelectDynamicQuery1ViewObjIterator"
                  Binds="SelectDynamicQuery1ViewObj" RangeSize="-1"
                  DataControl="DMSApplicationModule1DataControl"/>
    <invokeAction id="refreshDynamicQuery2BindParameter"
                  Binds="ExecuteWithParams2" Refresh="prepareModel"
                  RefreshCondition="#{empty requestScope.VariableChanged}"/>
    <iterator id="SelectDynamicQuery2ViewObjIterator"
                  Binds="SelectDynamicQuery2ViewObj" RangeSize="-1"
                  DataControl="DMSApplicationModule1DataControl"/>I now have a problem whereby everytime I change the value of the static LOV, multiple HTML components for the same ADF component are being generated (the LOVs are refreshed via PPR). The surprising thing is that this duplicating behaviour applies to all ADF components listed after the first dynamic LOV in the *.jspx source. For example, I have a <af:outputText="Test Text"/> component created after the first dynamic LOV. Each time the value in the static LOV changes, a duplicate HTML component is created. This also applies to the 'related' second dynamic LOV which is bound to a af:selectOneChoice component - multiple dropdown lists are created. I've checked with the browser's Page Source and there are actually multiple html components being generated with their own unique ADF-generated IDs. I've tried all different options for the Referesh and RefreshCondition attibutes in the second invokeAction element but nothing seems to eliminate this issue.
    Any suggestions about how I might create multiple dependent LOVs from the same bind variable that get refreshed when the selected value changes would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    George

    Hi all,
    Just updating the thread on how I've overcome this issue. As it stood the manner in which I was trying to solve my use case, as described above, was creating an absolute mess. Then with a blank sheet of paper I quickly realised that a much simpler solution would be to create a whole series of master-detail VOs and build my components around them. Thankfully I haven't had any issues going down this path as yet.
    Cheers
    George

  • LOV single selection list is not working in my JDeveloper 10.1.2.3

    Hi!
    I'm stumped with this. I'm also new to JDeveloper. I used the sample tutorial from the OTN website entitled "JSPDataBoundLists.jws" to learn how to create drop-down lists in JDeveloper.
    My problem is I created a single selection list LOV from DepartmentListView Data Control and pasted it into an EmployeesView Input form. This is so I can just select the Department names to populate the DepartmentID field in Employees table. I setup the data binding in the UI Model of my jsp using the "List Binding Editor". I checked the UIModel file and it looks as follows:
    <DCControl
    id="DepartmentId2"
    SubType="DCListSingleSel"
    IterBinding="EmployeesViewIterator"
    DTClass="oracle.adf.dt.objects.JUDTCtrlListLOV"
    ApplyValidation="false"
    isDynamic="false"
    ListOperMode="0"
    ListIter="DepartmentsListViewIterator" >
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="DepartmentId" />
    </AttrNames>
    <ListAttrNames>
    <Item Value="DepartmentId" />
    </ListAttrNames>
    <ListDisplayAttrNames>
    <Item Value="DepartmentName" />
    </ListDisplayAttrNames>
    </DCControl>
    I run the jsp, selected a value from the drop-down list, do a submit and do a commit, but the DepartmentId from the DepartmentsListView was not stored in Employees. What is wierd here is that there is an exact same single selection list defined a row above mine which is working fine. How come that one is working and mine is not?

    Eureka! I finally found the answer to my own question!
    This simple problem of adding a drop-down list into a jsp page cost me 3 whole days (around 24 full working hours) to find the answer. Normally it only takes me a few minutes with the other web app languages I've learned. And I just stumbled into the answer just a few minutes ago (maybe all thanks should be given to God whom let me stumble into the answer since me and my wife have been praying for several weeks now ever since I started trying to learn Oracle JDeveloper. It is really very very difficult and time consuming to learn compared to other web app languages and tools).
    Anyway, the reason why my LOV does not work in my jsps using JDeveloper 10.1.2.3 is because JDeveloper 10.1.2.3 seems to allow only one input-form-element for the same field of the input table!
    For example, what happened to me was I had an input form created for the Employees table in the HR schema. I did this simply by drag-and-drop from the "Data Control Palette". This feature I like very much with JDeveloper. It is really easy and works instantly. And then, I drag-and-drop the departmentname field from the Departments table as a "single selection list" into the jsp and setup its bindings. So when I run the jsp, viola! The drop-down list does not populate the DepartmentId field of the Employees table. IT DOES NOT WORK! I've tried reinstalling both JDev and Oracle db and JDKs to no avail! I tried posting in this forum to no avail! I tried experimenting with newly created jsps to no avail! Then suddenly after repeatedly experimenting on this on different tutorials, guides and my own web app, it works! Why did it work? It was because I tried to add an LOV-single-selection-list on another sample tutorial with a READ-ONLY FORM on the jsp! Thus only the LOV is the input-form-element in the jsp for the table's field.
    So why can't you find such a simple and basic fact anywhere in the web, the tutorials, guides or the forum? I do not know. Maybe only I am using such an old version of JDev? But what about the users who used it when it just got out a couple of years ago? Didn't they have the same problem? Anyway, it seems like the answer to a lot of my simple basic questions about JDeveloper is not documented, or is buried very deep beneath all the other words of all these documents. Hopefully JDeveloper's documentations would get a lot easier to use very very soon!

  • Can I set the value of a list binding in my managed bean?

    Dear All,
    This is just an exercise for me and I just wanted to experiment on the bindings of ADF for me to understand it further.
    I wanted to create a custom Model Driven LOV with my data control listed below
    Countries
         -CountryId
         -CountryName..but I wanted to display the label similar to this
    1 - USA
    2 - England
    n - France..so I thought of manipulating the select items in a bean
    <af:selectOneChoice id="soc1" value="#{bindings.Countries.inputValue}">
      <f:selectItems value="#{pageFlowScope.MyBean.countries}" id="si1" valuePassThru="true"/>
    </af:selectOneChoice>..and the code similar to this
    public class MyBean{
         public List<SelectItem> getCountries(){
              //countryMap points to accessing the iterator binding
              //BindingsHelper is a utility class that sets the value
              for(...){
                   SelectItem item = new SelectItem();
                   item.setLabel(countryMap.get("CountryId") + " - " + countryMap.get("CountryName"));
                   item.setValue(countryMap.get("CountryId"));
                   list.add(item);
              //set the item to the first row
              BindingsHelper.setExpressionValue("#{bindings.Countries.inputValue}",
                                     list.get(0).getValue());
              return list;
    }...on the last part I wanted to set the value to the first item but I am encountering numberformatexception when setting the list binding.
    I know I can do this declaratively also by removing the unselected item but as I have said I am experimenting on the bindings.
    Is this not possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
    I understand that , you want to show select one choice (dropdown) with label (countyid - country name) and value is (countryid).
    and these informnation is coming from ADf Model ( may be a VO).
    in the UI page you used this list is coming from MyBean
    <af:selectOneChoice id="soc1" value="#{bindings.Countries.inputValue}">
    <f:selectItems value="#{pageFlowScope.MyBean.countries}" id="si1" valuePassThru="true"/>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    so ,
    The Managed Bean code should be ,
    private List<SelectItem> countries;
    ///setter method
    public void setCountries(List<SelectItem> countries) {
    this.countries= countries;
    // getter method
    public List<SelectItem> getQuoteStatusList() {
    quoteStatusList =
    selectItemsForIterator("countriesVOIterator",
    "countryId", "countryName");
    return quoteStatusList;
    public static List<SelectItem> selectItemsForIterator(String iteratorName, String valueAttrName, String displayAttrName) {
    return selectItemsForIterator(findIterator(iteratorName), valueAttrName, displayAttrName);
    public static DCIteratorBinding findIterator(String name) {
    DCIteratorBinding iter = getDCBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding(name);
    if (iter == null) {
    throw new RuntimeException("Iterator '" + name + "' not found");
    return iter;
    public static List<SelectItem> selectItemsForIterator(DCIteratorBinding iter, String valueAttrName, String displayAttrName) {
    List<SelectItem> selectItems = new ArrayList<SelectItem>();
    for (Row r : iter.getAllRowsInRange()) {
    string labelValue = (String)r.getAttribute(valueAttrName) +"-"+ (String)r.getAttribute(displayAttrName);
    selectItems.add(new SelectItem(r.getAttribute(valueAttrName),labelValue ));
    return selectItems;
    this will give you what you except in the ui
    when you try to get the value form that seclecOneChoice value in MyBean what user selects , you can simply get the value of this selectOneChoice.

  • Dynamic context binding in web dynpro alv

    I use dynamic context binding (see code below to show and edit the ALV table.
    'DB_TABLE' is a tranparent table. It works fine.
    But now this table should be expanded with additional fields which are only known at runtime and could be different from case to case.
    How can I get these fields in the context dynamically?
      DATA:
            rootnode_info TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node_info,
            dyn_node      TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
            tablename   TYPE string.
      rootnode_info = wd_context->get_node_info( ).
      tablename = 'DB_TABLE'.
      cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>create_nodeinfo_from_struct(
        parent_info = rootnode_info
        node_name = tablename
        structure_name = tablename
        is_multiple = abap_true ).
      DATA:
            stru_tab TYPE REF TO data.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <tab> TYPE table.
      CREATE DATA stru_tab TYPE TABLE OF (tablename).
      ASSIGN stru_tab->* TO <tab>.
      SELECT * FROM (tablename) INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE <tab>.
      dyn_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = tablename ).
      dyn_node->bind_table( <tab> ).

    You should create a structure dynamically and use this as the context structure. See the coding below, where a structure is created, which contains CARRID and CONNID.
    DATA: node_info type ref to if_wd_context_node_info,
          struct_type TYPE REF TO cl_abap_structdescr,
          table_type  type ref to cl_abap_tabledescr,
          comp_tab    TYPE cl_abap_structdescr=>component_table,
          comp        LIKE LINE OF comp_tab,
          my_table    type ref to data,
          my_row      type ref to data.
      field-symbols: <table> type table,
                     <row> type data,
                     <flight> type sflight.
    * build a structure description from the list of single fields
      comp-name = 'CARRID'.
      comp-type ?= cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'S_CARR_ID' ).
      APPEND comp TO comp_tab.
      comp-name = 'CONNID'.
      comp-type ?= cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'S_CONN_ID' ).
      APPEND comp TO comp_tab.
    * note this structure contains the fields "CONNID" and "CARRID"
      struct_type = cl_abap_structdescr=>create( comp_tab ).
    * now the nodeinfo is created
      node_info = wd_context->get_node_info( ).
      node_info = node_info->add_new_child_node(
        name                         = 'MY_NODE'
        IS_MANDATORY                 = ABAP_true
        IS_MULTIPLE                  = ABAP_true
        STATIC_ELEMENT_RTTI          = struct_type
        IS_STATIC                    = ABAP_false
    * fill new node;
      data: l_node type ref to if_wd_context_node,
            l_flight type STANDARD TABLE OF sflight.
      l_node = wd_context->get_child_node( 'MY_NODE' ).
      l_flight = wd_assist->get_flights( ).
    *  if you could create a local data type, would be fine, but if you have to do it dynamically ...
      struct_type = node_info->GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTES_TYPE( ).
    * create tabledescriptor from structdescription (standard table, no keys)
      table_type = cl_abap_tabledescr=>create( p_line_type = struct_type ).
      create data my_table type handle table_type.
      assign my_table->* to <table>.
      loop at l_flight assigning <flight>.
        create data my_row type handle struct_type.
        assign my_row->* to <row>.
        move-corresponding <flight> to <row>.
        append <row> to <table>.
      endloop.
      l_node->bind_table( <table> ).

  • Dynamic List and Security Issue

    Hi
    I have a Dynamic List Wizard for orders, which the user can click on edit to edit or modify the order and if the user choose "Yes" to submit ( the order form has a submit filed which has Yes / No Values)then the EDIT button disappear and the user has no more control on the record(using show if conditional Region server behavior).
    - Now i noticed that when i click on the edit the address bar includes the (www.mysite.com/form.php?order_id=1) now say the order Number 2 is already submitted (still on the list but no Edit button for it) if i write 3 or 4 or any other number instead of 1 at the address bar (www.mysite.com/form.php?order_id=3) the record which has the order number 3 displays on the screen and then you can edit it and when click update the Edit Button becomes Active which destroy the whole concept.
    so, how to fix that?

    Hi Lorie,
    Taking it a step further
    interesting that you´re mentioning this -- because I was just in the middle of finding a workaround for the very same issue ;-)
    I actually did find a pretty easy solution, which basically goes like this:
    1) wrap the whole table *plus* any possibly added hidden fields located below this table in a "Show IF conditional region" behaviour -- but make sure to *not* include the buttons within the "KT_bottombuttons" div in here.
    2) as I assume that your "supplier_name" column holds a numeric value which equals the user´s "kt_login_id" Session Variable (which it should !), define the following conditions for the "Show IF conditional region" behaviour:
    Expression 1: choose "supplier_name" from the tNG recordset
    Condition: ==
    Expression 2: choose Session -> kt_login_id
    3) tick the Has ELSE option
    4) confirm with OK
    5) replace the default "has Else" message with something meaningful like "you can´t edit this record !"
    Switching to Code view and navigating to the very start of your "Show IF conditional region" should display something like this:
    if (@$row_rsqueryname['supplier_name'] == @$_SESSION['kt_login_id']) {
    When viewing the modified Dynamic Form in a browser, you´ll note that this solution will indeed display the form instances for all "authorized" records, whereas those form instances which don´t match the required credentials will be replaced with that "has else" message.
    BUT !! This solution has one major drawback which I haven´t been able to resolve yet :: when the Dynamic Form goes into Insert Record mode
    (means when you click the "add new" link in the Dynamic List), all inner form instances will display that "has else" message.
    The only workaround I currently can come up with is to have the List´s "add new" link point to a separate "add_new.php" page that´s going to insert a single record.

  • Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

    Hi,
    I have this requirement where I have to use an EL expression's output as a bean's property in the value attribute of a InputTextField. E.g.
              <h:dataTable value="#{entity.formats}" var="field">
                   <h:column>
                        <h:outputLabel value="#{field.shortDesr}"/>
                   </h:column>
                   <h:column>
                        <h:inputText value="#{*entity."+#{field.shortDesr}+*"}"/>
                   </h:column>
              </h:dataTable>
    The JSF page will be a generic one so the fields within a form will be dynamic and will be formed at run-time. Since the exact bean property(entity in the code above) for a particular field is not known before, it needs to be dynamicaly built
    To give more clarity. In the following snippet, i know that entity is the bean to be used but which property(XXX) the text field has to be bound is not known and needs to be assigned at run-time.
    <h:inputText value="#{entity.*XXX*"/>
    Is this possible? Are there any direct JSF solution or work arounds for it? Appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks
    Ranjith

A: Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

Hi BaluSC,
Your solution is totally acceptable. But I was also looking for something that can make possible direct binding to the bean properties without going through a Map.
In the meantime, I worked around the problem by not using the DataTable. Instead I loop the collection and add the Form elements programatically (code given below). With this I am able to achieve the desired effect of binding directly to the bean's property. But I am hitting another problem now, On submit the form Seam throws up 'No active conversational context" error while binding the #{sdmManager.grid} attribute. Now, I am trying to figure out how to come across it.
JSF
     <h:panelGrid columns="2" binding="#{sdmManager.grid}">
</h:panelGrid>
Bean code
     public HtmlPanelGrid getGrid(){
     grid = new HtmlPanelGrid();
     List<UIComponent> children = grid.getChildren();
     Collection<FieldFormatData> formats = dataManager.getFieldFormatData();
     for(FieldFormatData format:formats){
          HtmlOutputLabel outputLabel = new HtmlOutputLabel();
          outputLabel.setValue(format.getShortDesr());
          children.add(outputLabel);
          HtmlInputText inputText = new HtmlInputText();
          inputText.setSize(10);
          inputText.setMaxlength(10);
          System.out.println("Binding ................................... " + format.getEntityField());
          inputText.setValueBinding("value", FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createValueBinding("#{entity."+format.getEntityField()+"}"));
          children.add(inputText);
     return grid;

  • Dynamic List of Values does not appear

    Hi All,
       I am re-creating this post as I have not received an answer on it.
    Hi All,
    I created report (using Crystal Reports 2008) in which one of my parameters displays a dynamic LOV from a field. When I run the report in Crystal, I get to select which values I want for record selection in my report.
    However, when I save this report and run it on the Crystal Server (2008) using infoview, I do not get the dynamic LOV. Rather, I have to manually type a value that I want to select.
    Why does the LOV's not work when I run it through Crystal Server? Another thing, when I access it from Crystal Server through Crystal Reports, I still lose the dynamic LOV option.
    How do I use parameters so that I can select from a dynamic list a values? It behaves normally in Crystal Reports 2008 but loses it's functionality on the Server.
    Thank you in advance.

    This just started happening to me as well, the reports I created (using standalone crystal reports 2008) contain dynamic parameters and suddenly they stopped working as intended in some reports.
    I noticed that when the datasource is a single table or a single view the cascading (nested) dynamic parameters and dropdowns are working fine, but when the datasource is two or more linked tables, the parameters prompt shows two empty text boxes instead of two dropdowns. I tried refreshing and verifying the database but nothing works. So until we find a real solution, we're basing all our reports on single views.
    This remains a serious problem because in some cases we don't have write access to the database to create views, and basically we're recreating all the reports that now suffer from this problem.

  • Join query in a dynamic list of values query

    I have a join query in a dynamic list of values query. The value does not return a text value, but rather the id value.
    Is it possible to use a join query in a dynamic list of values query?
    For example...in the below query, I expect to see ename in the drop down list, but I see class_emp_id.
    select b.ename d, a.class_emp_id r
    from class_emp a, emp b
    where a.class_cat_id = :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID
    and a.emp_id = b.emp_id
    order by 1
    Thanks,
    Reid

    :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID is a number datatype.
    I think the problem is with the ARF. Whenever I change the dynamic LOV query to exclude the :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID (a passed in session variable), the drop down shows all the text names I am looking for; albeit, too many since I am excluding the :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID.
    The page I am having the problem with is a popup that is called from a report link on another page. When I show the session variables on the popup page, it shows values for only 1 of the 3 session variables I am passing to this page.
    I am using the javascript:popUp2 syntax when I call the popup page from the report link.
    As I said previously, I am passing 3 parms and only the 1st parm is getting a value. Yes, there are values for all three parms in the record of the report.
    Is there a limit to the number of variables (itemNames) that can be passed to the popup using this method?

  • Dynamic List of Checkboxes and their Default Values

    Hello,
    I have spent more than five hours feebly attempting to figure out how to make a dynamic list of checkboxes (using an LOV) adhere to the values in the database which those checkboxes represent. The LOV itself works; I can get a nice list of checkboxes with the appropriate names, but I can't get HTML DB to check the boxes that have a value of 'Y' in the database. The code for my LOV follows:
    SELECT mesg_name n, mesg_id r
    FROM notifications
    WHERE mesg_id = (SELECT mesg_id
                      FROM subscriptions
                      WHERE upper(network_id) = upper(:APP_USER))Since this is a dynamic list of checkboxes, I obviously cannot use the "Label" property to set the labels of each checkbox. That is what n is in the query above. r is the unique ID of the message (a varchar2) that I will need to pass back to the program after the page is submitted by the user for processing. I cannot take up the value field of the checkbox with a "Y" or something as equally vague. The ID of the subscription that the user is subscribing to or unsubscribing to must be passed back to the program so the appropriate modifications to the database table can be made.
    I would most appreciate it if anyone could lend assistance.
    Thank you,
    Marc Weil

    Marc,
    I think I see what you're trying to do. You'll have to separate process that renders the LOV as a series of check boxes from the process that sets the checked values for each user.
    Before the LOV is rendered on a page, make sure you set the session state value of the LOV item to a colon separated set of IDs based on your query:
    SELECT mesg_id
    FROM subscriptions
    WHERE upper(network_id) = upper(:APP_USER)
    If you have trouble, let me know, I'll try to come up with an example.
