In meiner Bibliothek finde ich viele Bilder welche durch die Funktion Upright automatisch korrigiert wurden. Das möchte ich jedoch nicht und würde diese Funktion wie angedacht nur manuell im Entwickeln-Modul anwenden wollen.
Warum sieht sich LR seit neuestem bei mir veranlasst neu importierte Bilder automatisch auszurichten?

Want movie to auto play -- do I need to import it twice?

I made a 58-minute video in iMovie HD with iDVD chapters, then I clicked the button to send the movie to iDVD 5. The movie imported great into iDVD and was to take 3.9GB of a 4.0GB DVD. However, when I clicked the "map," I noticed the first slide was to auto play the movie. GREAT, I thought, that's what I want, as this DVD is for a bunch of seniors who would benefit from auto play, but then also being able to select a certain scene that they wanted to go back to (it is a video of a speaker on medicare with a corresponding printed outline).
When I selected the movie from my movies folder and drug it to that first slide in the map field, which was auto play, I noticed that then the size of my project went from 3.9GB to 7.8GB. It would all fit on a DVD-R, but the quality would be reduced because with all that data, iDVD would need to compress more. I don't really need to import the movie twice, do I, if I want auto play AND chapter selection?
My question is, is there a way to use the same movie in iDVD to auto play AND to be able to select the scenes/chapters I inicated? I tried to drag and drop the movie in the map view on the third slide to the first slide, but it would not allow me to move it, or set up an alias pointing to the original movie.
I suppose I can delete the third slide movie that iMovie auto imported and then just import the movie manually to auto play area, but then I don't know if that will erase allow for the use of chapters. Does anyone know about this?

I think I may answer my own question here. According to this page http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164968, it says "iDVD doesn't create scene menus for autoplay movies." So if I want a movie to auto play AND have scene menus using the chapter markers, I will need to import the movie twice and just live with lower quality. If anyone else has any input, I'd love to hear it, but I really need to keep the scene menus in my movie AND would like auto play. For now, I think I will just pass on the auto play, as I need scene menus more than auto play.

Auto name the clips as they import from camera?

Well I have had this Mac and FCE for almost 2 years now, and still not done anything with it. Have played with it and done a few bits from Tom Wolskys book FCE4 editing workshop, but still not done any real footage.
My girlfriend has dragged up 30 hours of home video footage to be cut down to something usable.
It is analogue, so importing via another camera, acting as analogue to DV convertor, so no splitting of clips automatically. Doing it all via Capture Now. Just imported one 3 hour tape in to about 10 segements.
I have a created a bin called Tape 1, but even with the bin highlighted, when Capturing, the clips do no go in the bin...and just get named Untitled, Untitled1 etc...So then you have to move them to the bin, rename them, rename the clips in Finder, the re connect the renamed clips with the media.
Is there a way to get the clips to capture straight into the bin...with the name of the bin...I am sure I have done it before...but now cant remember how to do it

No...not solved at all...well not completely.
It captures to the correct bin, but there is no naming option given.
In the Capture tab there are option for
Capture Bin
Reel
Name
Decription
etc
But they are all greyed out.
The box next to Prompt is ticked, and cant be un ticked
The box next to description is Blue, so it look active, but also cant be un ticked, nothing can be changed or modified in this window/tab at all.
The only button that works is the Capture NOW...Clip or Project will not work as the DV cam is in AV in - DV out mode.
Any other ideas?

Photoshop Elements. Skalierungsfenster verschwindet am Oberrand

In meinem (älteren) Photoshop Elements, das ich unter XP fahre, ist das Skalierungsfenster immer weiter nach oben gewandert, so dass jetzt die Breite nicht mehr eingegeben werden kann. Wie bekomme ich das Fenster wieder runter? In einem früheren Posting wurde in einem ähnlichen Fall empfohlen, Photoshop unter drücken der Tasten Shift+Wahl+Befehl neu zu starten und so die Einstellungen zu löschen. Shift-Taste ist klar, Befehl wird Comand sein aber was um Himmels willen ist die Wahl-Taste? Mit Control habe ich es erfolglos versucht. Oder weiß jemand eine andere Lösung? Vielen Dank.

vielleicht lässt sich die Sache ja auch mit Hilfe der Bildschirmjustierung lösen (Auto --> Justierung --> die Bildschirmeinstellung ändert sich dann selbsttätig).
Ausserdem könnte auch ein "Spielen" mit der Darstellungsgrösse des Programmes (s. Pfeile rechts) helfen.
Mit Entfernen und erneut starten der shortcutleiste (Pfeil links) muss sich der Bildschirm ebenfalls komplett neu orientieren.

Firefox funktioniert nicht richtig

Firefox ist auf linken seite auf Höhe "Zurückfeils" abgeschnitten, man sieht den feil nicht ganz u.Tab "Datei" auch net richtig. woran liegts u. wie kann ich das ändern, de- und neuinstallation von firefox bringt nix. danke.

Zu einem ähnlichen Problem gab es schon längliche Diskussionen im englischsprachigen Forum. Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, war das Problem dabei, daß sehr viele Bilder zur Bearbeitung im Editor geöffnet waren. Wenn man dann zu schnell hintereinander die Bilder schloß bzw. speicherte, kam es vor, daß einige davon nicht im Organizer auftauchten. Abhilfe schafft dann, zwischen dem Speichern der Bilder eine halbe Minute verstreichen zu lassen.
Ansonsten fällt mir nichts dazu ein.

Das geht relativ einfach. Zunächst mußt Du (z. B. per "Auto Smart Fix" oder wie auch immer das auf deutsch genannt wird) eine "*_bearbeitet.*" Kopie erzeugen lassen. Dann einfach die soeben erzeugte Datei mit der "richtigen" überschreiben und im Organizer das Vorschaubild aktualisieren.

Hey, also in der Regel ist die iCloud Nutzung kostenlos.
Wenn du Probleme mit deinem iPhone hast, dann versuche es doch mal mit iTunes wiederherzustellen, Denk aber daran vorher die Daten von deinem iPhone zu sichern.
Wenn der Bildschirm dunkel erscheint dann überprüfe doch mal in den Einstellungen die Helligkeit, ggf. Die auto.-Helligkeit mal zu deaktivieren!

HDR Bilder zusammenfügen

zuerst will ich meinen Frust los werden, dass ältere Versionen nicht mehr im Support unterstützt werden!
Kauft "ihr" Euch jedes Jahr ein neues Auto, nur weil es keine Ersatzteile mehr gibt?
So Frust weg - jetzt bitte ich um eure Erfahrungen und Lösungvorschläge. Ich habe einen MAC 10.7.5. Proz. 2,4 GHz Intel Core i7, Speicher 8 GB 1333 MHZ DDR3, PH CS 5 Ex. Version 12.1 64 Bit
Ich habe 3 Bilder
Bild 20 sehr hell
Bild 21 normal
Bild 22 sehr dunkel
Diese 3 Bilder wurden "zu HDR zusammegefügen". Ein neues Fenster geht auf (Zu HDR.... 76,3 %), rechts kann ich das Bild anpassen. (Manchmal erscheint der Text ... kann nicht, eventuell Dateien beschädigt - trotzdem geht das neue Fenster auf.....).
Auffallend. das neue Fester hat oben links NUR den grünen Punkt für Fensterfüllend). Und noch auffälliger - egal wie groß ich das neue Fenster ziehe - es fehlt jegliche Möglichkeit, das Bild abzuspeichern. Will ich im PS etwas machen - geht alles nicht mehr (Absturz).
Meine jetzige Notlösung: Screenshot vom HDR Bild und dann PS neu starten.
Das kann ja nicht der Sinn der Sache sein.
Euer Fach- und Sachverstand ist gefragt.
Taucht jetzt nur noch die Frage auf, wie ich an Eure Antworten komme.

Sigma 35mm Upright Doesn't Work Properly

I am using Lightroom 5.7
Equipment I use is:
Nikon D800E
Sigma 35mm f1.4
Tamron 24-70 f2.8
I shoot raw
The problem is when I use Sigma 35mm, Lightroom auto upright function tilts all pictures too much to the right. The profile is correct (Sigma 35mm f1.4). See sample pic below.
It works correctly with Tamron 24-70.
Does anybody have an idea how to solve this apart from doing it manually for every picture?

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode and then try to reset all Skype settings.
Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Reboot in normal mode and try to start Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

let me try to explain this because this has happened in past and never found a way to resolve but i lived with it
now that I have a Sony A7R the problem is more serious
Firstly i take pride it making the picture happen all in camera, i use DRO lvl 5 to get enough light, like when i'm shooting at dusk. DRO its like doing HDR but in a single file, it lightens the darks. in my camera i'm happy with results
but when I upload them to lightroom, they come out near black.
allow me to explain
lets say I import 100 images
i double check my preferences and everything is UNCHECKED when it comes to importing options, there is no auto toning, nothing.
as the images import i see a preview in the thumbnail which looks fine.
i double click on one to enlarge it, hence leave grid view.
for a brief 1 or 2 seconds, i see the full image in all its glory but than lightroom does something funny, it darkens the image
one by one as it inspects each image, if it was a DRO image it makes it too dark.
to make this clear, the image is perfect as it was in the beginning but after a few seconds lightroom for some reason thinks it needs to correct it.
how to prevent lightroom from doing this, i want the image exactly as it is, why must lightroom apply a correction>?
i think it has to do something with interpreting the raw file and lightroom applies its own algorithm.
but here is what i dont get.....before lightroom makes the change i'm able to witness the picture exactly as it was taken and want it unchanged..
now i have to tweak each file or find a profile for it which is added work.
any ideas how to prevent lightroom from ruining my images and just leave them as they were when first detected...
there are 2 phases...one is when it originally imports and they look fine
second is scanning each image and applying some kind of toning which darkens it too much.

i've disabled it now
thing is, there is no DRO jpg to download from the camera
its only ARW. so my understanding is when i use DRO setting, the camera makes changes to the ARW than lightroom somehow reads this from the ARW.
but then sadly reverts it to no DRO settings.
because i notice if i take normal picture in raw mode its dark but if i apply dro to it, it comes out brighter, yet when i d/l the image from camera to lightroom, which is an ARW - there are no jpgs. lightroom decides to mess it up
so in reality there is no point in using DRO because when i upload it lightroom removes it.
is there a way to tell lightroom to preserve the jpg preview as it first sees it.
its just lame, picture appears perfect...than lightroom does something, than bam, its ruined,.
what do i need to do to prevent lightroom from ruining the image? if it was good in the first place.

Ever noticed that Auto Tone performs slightly different adjustments when applied during import as opposed to when applied in the Develop module? I've just run some experiments using LR 5.7.1 Camera Raw 8.7.1 using Canon CR2 images. 3 out of 4 test images

I received two email replies (BriPhoto & Rob Cole) to my above post, which are now missing here. I only mentioned Auto WB because of this statement in your PDF posted here Shared Cat:
"Apply auto WB and Auto tone to an unmodified photo and note the changes.
Apply auto WB and tone to another photo with very different exposure and tone and note changes to confirm that changes are different and do depend on the content of the photo being operated on (assumption)."
You are now saying:
"However, in this case we are talking about the SAME raw file, imported from the camera's CF card twice. One is imported with no preset, then the Auto Tone preset applied, the other is imported with the Auto Tone preset set in the import module. Both files have the SAME WB setting (As Shot) and the same Temp and Tint, as you would expect. The only differences (in LR) are in the tonal values."
I repeated Import of the two copies of your 14BD3913 CR2 file (14BD3913.CR2, 14BD3913-2.CR2) following the above procedure. The Tone values are identical for both using LR5.7 on my Windows 7 SP1 system. I cannot duplicate your issue as outlined above.
Is this the Auto Tone preset you are using on Import?
Two other things you can try:
1) Reset your LR Preferences file:

2) If that doesn't correct the issue I would try uninstalling LR5.7.1, delete the LR Preferences file, and then reinstall LR5.7.1 using a fresh download.

Auto Align Layers not working

Hello,
I am trying to auto align layers from a commercial job to mask different exposures and flashes in and out.
Every time I try to auto align, it doesn't work.
I make them JPGs in Lightroom and bring them over to photoshop.
I add a base layer and then upload the other exposure/light layers.
I make a group to add the exposures into but not the base layer.
Select them all.
Go to Edit - Auto Align Layers - but its always greyed out.
I am extremely frustrated. Help.

Try unlocking the base layer. Not sure if that'll effect it, but I could see it not wanting to auto-align if a layer was locked, even the base layer.
I would also try auto-aligning as soon as you import, before grouping. Shouldn't make a difference, but I do some RE/architectural work myself, and have never run into issue with my workflow (from lightroom I choose "open as layers in Photoshop", then autoalign, then group and mask and edit). Though I don't usually run auto-align. I assume you're on a tripod, did something move?

Auto-stack on import in Aperture 3?

My recollection of the Aperture 2 trial was that I could choose to auto-stack, based on times, while importing images. I can't seem to find the option to do that in Aperture 3. Once the images have been imported into a project, I can then have them auto-stacked, but they don't seem to come in that way.
Am I missing something obvious in Aperture 3? Did I hallucinate this feature in Aperture 2?

I've found a way to do it, but it's not as intuitive as it was in Ap2.
The box that shows which images will be imported now as a little check-box by it, and they all start ticked, by default. You have buttons, up top, to check all, or uncheck all. And the button down in the lower right is now labelled "Import Checked," when I think on used to have the option to "Import All" or "Import Selected" (after you'd done normal style multiple selection on the files).
There's an auto-stack dialogue, that you can access at any time from the stacks menu, but you can't actually move the slider unless images are selected. So, on import, do a command-A to select all (as opposed to the check all that's done by default), and then open the auto-stack dialogue and set your time, and you can see how things will stack. Then, press "Import Checked" (assuming they're all still checked), and the images will come in, and already be stacked as they were at the source. So, it's available, but nowhere near as friendly to use as it was.

Auto-rotate D4S files and sharpening

Two questions: Bridge CC does not auto rotate my D4S files on import. It does rotate my D300s files. I have updated and installed the latest camera raw plug in.
Second issue I have sharpening applied to preview images only in preferences. Sharpening is only applied when image is opened in ACR not in the bridge preview window?

This is not an auto feature of Bridge but has to be set to on in the camera software, check your D4s manual for this, it should provide you with several options. The camera writes metadata to the file, Bridge reads this and applies the rotation from the info of the metadata

It should be the other way round, by default it is a reasonable subtle setting and very useful to judge the previews better for sharpness. There are tons of books written about sharpening but personally I only apply sharpness at the end of the process, I certainly would not use ACR sharpness settings at the start of processing the file in PS.
If your camera has been set to auto rotate and your sharpness at preview only is double checked to be set to on then it might be needed to reset your Bridge preferences. Restart Bridge holding down option key (Mac) or ctrl (win) and choose reset preferences and try again.
