LR4 drag to reorder images

I hope LR4 includes being able to drag images around in "Grid View" to reorder them. This is a huge issue for a wedding photog who is working with assistant and has to order images from 4 or 5 camera bodies. Not good enough to select "sort by capture time" because sometimes just a 2 seceond difference between the bodie's clocks can put an image slightly out of sequence. Right now I have to do it in Bridge and then rename all images followed by re-importing into LR. Huge hassle. Somebody dropped the ball with not including this ability in LR and I will not pay to upgrade to LR4 unless this is fixed. I am furious everytime I have to do this and won't even consider spending more $$ while having to go to Bridge.. Also, If I rank images by stars or color in Bridge the rankings don't carry over to LR and vise versa (unless I'm missing something). Bridge is so intuitive with this kind of thing. I would like LR to be just as intuitive.
Hope the right eyes see this

You can not reorder into a User order from within a Folder. You need to be in a collection to do so. Move all the images from an event into a single collection and you can reorder them via drag and drop.
Capture time can be altered by camera if you use your filter bar to select individual camera serial numbers and then alter that group of photos' time signatures.  This will solve your out of sequence issues.  Most people with more than one camera in a situation like this sync the camera times before an event to avoid just this problem. But, even if you don't or can't, the ability to filter by camera and adjust time by using Metadata>Edit Capture Time… solves this and puts your capture time in true chronological order regardless of camera settings.
I haven't been in Bridge in 3 years and cannot think of why, with Lightroom, I would ever go back there.  I find Bridge to be counterintuitive and Lightroom to by very intuitive. I think as you discover more about recommended workflows in Lightroom you will find that your experience will be much better.
I am also concerned by your use of the phrase "re-importing into LR". It is almost never a good idea to re-import. I hope you meant import.

  • How to reorder images within an event

I would like to reorder images in an event which will produce a slide show in the order I desire. Highlight an image and dragging it does not work for me.

Create an album and put the photos from the Event into it. Then you can manually sort the photos into the order you want before creating the slideshow from the album with the Create button in the toolbar:

  • Dragging a single image from mac Preview to InDesign CS6 doesn't work but 2 or more images does?

I usually take anywhere form 2500 to 5000 photos in any single day's session. Because of this, I need an easy way to sort through them and grab just the one's I need to import to my InDesign "book". I have been using CS3 for years now, and what I always did was open up Preview on my Mac to browse all my days photos. Then when I found a good one, I would simply drag that single image over to my opened InDesign screen and just drop it into a page. I would then go back to Preview and continue this procedure until I had looked through all the days images. I could even drag multiple images over and once I was over InDesign I can just click each image and pop them into various pages with ease. Then I upgraded to CS6 and I've hit a kink in the works. When I drag over a single image to InDesign, before I drop it into the page my mouse pointer looks like 3 tiny paste images (the little rectangle with the folded down upper left corner). If I release my mouse to drop the image into InDesign, it just flys back to Preview and doesn't drop into InDesign. Now if I get 2 or more images from Preview, this process works just like it always did. But 1 single image... never. I've tried holding down command, shift, control, option, and combos of those buttons to see if anything changes and it never does. I always get the mouse icon with 3 little paste icons. In CS3 if I dragged a single image it would only show 1 paste icon and 3 icons if I dragged 2 or more, but not in CS6. Is there a setting I'm missing or a preference? I've tried looking through everything that I can find to no avail. There has to be a way??? Thanks!

    Use Bridge instead
    good luck

  • I am unable to drag and drop image files in a JAVA supposrted site. I have all the lastest versions of softwarte here - everything is up to date.

I am no longer able to drag and drop image files int this JAVA supported site. It had always worked flawlessly in the past.
I would open the site, go to Send Files, allow access, fill out the fields and then drag and drop my image files. Now I can only use the ADD (+) button to do so.

Ok, the red you referred to is a Stoke you added. Then QuickMask is not involved.

  • Why can't I drag and drop images from the browser into other programs?

Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 4 (even after I upgraded again to Firefox 5) I have been unable to drag images from the browser into other programs, including MS Paint and IcoFx. I receive an error message stating that the file (the address given lists it as being located in the temporary files folder) cannot be found.
Prior to this I had always been able to conveniently drag and drop images for easy editing without having to save first and then open them. This feature is important to me, as I work with graphics very often, and is still available in Chrome and Internet Explorer. I love Firefox though, and hope that there is something I can do to fix the problem.

I had this problem on Windows 8.1.1 and iTunes 11.2.2.3
To resolve it from within Itunes I did :  Edit, Preferences, Sharing.
I took the tick out of "Share my library on my local network"
    Click OK.
    Closed iTunes/
Reopened iTunes and I can drag and drop.
I went back into Edit, Preferences, Sharing and put the tick back and clicked OK.
    Works fine now.

I don't think there is anything like that . You need to develop by yourself . I've written some blog post which might be related with your requirement.

Well, I don't really understand the DnD interface so maybe my chess board example will be easier to understand and modify:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=518707
Basically what you would need to do is:
    a) on a mousePressed you would need to create a new JLabel with the icon from the clicked label and add the label to the glass pane
    b) mouseDragged code would be the same you just repaint the label as it is moved
    c) on a mouseReleased, you would need to check that the label is now positioned over your "drop panel" and then add the label to the panel using the panels coordinates not the glass pane coordinates.

  • Problem with dragging/panning images in Lightroom

I installed Lightroom 6 on a few days' old laptop - part of my initial set of intallations, and therefore very much a "clean" machine.
An immediate problem I noticed was in the Develop module.  Here, a hand tool enables you to pan round a zoomed-in image which is too big to fit the screen, by clicking and draggging on the touchpad.  This works as expected using the touchpad, most of the time.  But if you select a tool, the touchpad moves the tool (obviously) and a click implements whatever the tool does (such as spot removal).  If, therefore, you wish to pan round an image with a tool selected, you hold down spacebar to bring up the hand  tool.  You should then be able to click and drag on the touchpad to pan the image around.  But this does not work: holding down the spacebar to bring up the hand tool seems to disable dragging or panning with the touchpad.
In case this was a Lightroom 6 bug, I installed Lightroom 5.7.1, but the behaviour there is exactly the same.
If I use an external mouse, there is no problem dragging/panning holding down the left mouse button while the spacebar is depressed.  This is a problem only dragging and panning with the touchpad.
I have updated all the drivers, video, touchpad etc. to the very latest versions from the HP website.  I have tried using Lightroom at different resolutions (my default is 150% magnification).  None of this makes any difference.
It seems to me that htis is likely to be a touchpad driver bug.  Has anyone else come across this?  More importantly, has anyone come across a solution?  It is a very big issue using the spot removal tool on large images - the only way of panning around is to drag on the image in the navigator at the top left, which is hopelessly imprecise.
    Graham

Did you contact Adobe about this problem as well cause if this problem isn't happening in other software on your laptop then it might be the way Lightroom is configured that is causing the problem?

  • Drag and drop images from the OS or select images over filebrowser

    Hello,
I want to create an image upload tool in JavaFX with similar functionality like Jumploader (http://jumploader.com/). The users should be able to select images from the filesystem that will be resized and uploaded to their website, similar as in Facebook. The difference is that I want users to be able to crop images directly in my application. This is something, other upload tools do not offer.
I was searching weeks on the web trying to find a sample on how to drag and drop images in to a JavaFX 1.3.1 app or also to create a file browser. I have found many examples but they seem to be outdated. Is it to early yet to try and start projects like these with JavaFX as JavaFX is still under development? Or can anybody lead me in to the right direction?
    Thanks,
    Chris

To be more precise, you can setup a JComponent or JPanel on top of your JavaFX nodes that has a TransferHandler that can convert the (AWT/Swing) images dragged to the app to JavaFX image and then insert it into the underlying node.
As for the file chooser itselft: ListView and the JavaFX composer can allow you to create one quite easily. TreeView can aslso be used to a lesser extend (still a big buggy). For both of these, there are small bugs in the Cell API that may (or may not) prevent from displaying a proper thumbnail in the cells.
You can also use a regular JFileChooser if you do not mind the dialog box having a different LnF from the rest of your application.

  • How may I stitch within Lr4 2-5 raw images into pano's, shot with my D800

How may I stitch within Lr4 2-5 raw images into pano's, shot with my D800?

I am running LR4.2 and Photoshop CS6 Ext (most recent version) on a Windows 7 Pro PC.
I did a Pano Merge the day before yesterday.
    1. In LR4.x, select the photos you want to merge (I like to do a Lens Profile, White Balance and Noise Reduction on them first. I do this on a representative image.  Then I Synch those sttings across the selected images.)
    2. Right Click on one of the selected images or a selected Thumbnail in the filmstrip.
    3. In the pop-out menu, select "Merge to Panorama in Photoshop CS6" (I think that's close to the exact wording.)
    4. After some crunching, you will get a merge Window which allows you to select other options for the merge.  This happens after LR4 exports copies of the images selected.
    5. Select your options and start the merge.
    I hope that helps.
