LR4 Flag Sorting in Collections no longer working

I get that the flags are carring over to collections now, when before they didn't. In lightroom 4 beta, I didn't have problems tagging some of the flagged images as regects and then filtering the results from those left flagged, to those changed to rejects. Now that I have upgraded, none of my flag filtering is working. If I select flagged, i get nothing. If i select rejects, I get nothing. How can I fix this? As a wedding photographer with thousands of images in a collection, this will be quite frustrating to go back through all these images to manually move the rejects out of the way.

Collections no longer working

The function CREATE_COLLECTION_FROM_QUERY no longer works in our production database. We have a few pages built around collections and all of them stopped working. When we load a page with a collection, we have the PLS-00103 error (symbol "" encountered instead of).
I'm guessing this could be a database issue or an APEX issue. Do you have any lead on what I can check to correct this problem? Thanks!

Sort Table command no longer works in Numbers 3.2.2

I am running OS X 10.9.4 and recently updated Numbers to 3.2.2 on my Macbook Pro. Since then I have been unable to sort a table which uses cells referenced from other tables. I have re-created a very simple set of tables to illustrate the problem. Table 1 and 1-1 below are the basic tables created to hold the data. The DATE column is formatted as Date with no Time format.
The Summary Table selects the relevent data from each DATE field in the above 2 tables. I reference these fields by typing in "=" and then clicking on the appropriate field. Shown in Fig. 2.

Everything looks fine in the table until I want to SORT the Summary Table by DATE field which I do by clicking on the down arrow at the top of the DATE column and selecting SORT ASCENDING - see Fig. 3 below.

When I do this, the result is as shown in Fig. 4.

I used to be able to do this Sort really easily before updating to the latest version of Numbers. I have tried creating another worksheet and setting up completely fresh tables, I have created the same tables on my iMac running Numbers 3.2 and I keep getting the same result. Each time I run the Sort command I get varying results of more or less exclamation marks interspersed with blank cells. I may be being completely thick here but I would really appreciate someone helping me out as this is driving me NUTS!! I have searched on as many Forums as I could find and have been unable to find anyone with a similar problem. Any help here would be much appreciated.

Anyway, if you can see all that now, could someone explain what is actually happening in the sort process as I don't really understand why the results appear as they do. I have now taken out all blank rows and columns of data in Table 1 and Table 1-1 and now when I run the sort I get the following result:-
What I want to happen is that the Summary Table is arranged in Date order. - surely that should be easy enough?? This used to be such a simple process before the update!!
Could someone explain to me what is actually happening here and whether the safe sort suggestion made will work in this instance? I am off to experiment now and have another look at the links given as I still don't really understand what is happening. Thanks again for the suggestions and help - much appreciated!

Key code 24 using control down - no longer works in 10.6

I have a script that should open a dialog box to make a picture using Copernicus. the command I try to invoke is 'Control ='.

If I do a manual 'Control =' it works regardless if the Application is active or in the background.
Has anything changed in 10.6 that this sort of code no longer works? How do I set it up for this to work?

Why LR4.4 no longer works with Blurb?

why LR4.4 no longer works with Blurb?
If I configure a book and then click Submit to Blurb does not happen anymore. I even looked at the network traffic and it seems as if the IP is pinged to the contact record no longer respond. I do not understand. This has worked fine all the time. On the computer no setting has been changed. No software is installed that would prevent something. The last book has worked wonderfully. Interesting things, when I export the book as PDF and then upload at Blurb, Blurb complains that the standard by which PDF is not true. X2003 PDF version .... but I am surprised very strong and I really suspect that there adobe wants to put a stop to that one is supposed to buy the new LR version. But everything just a guess. Maybe someone can help me or even has a similar problem.

Try:

Problems sorting LR collections

This is a slightly long story but necessary to explain the help I need and why! I have some 18000 photos which have been collected over several years and which in some cases have come from different cameras (metadata capture dates and file numbers in different formats) and from slides which have been digitized but now think they were taken (captured) on the date they were digitized. After a lot of effort I have grouped the photos into chronological LR collections and have rated them so that I now have about 1500 photos "of interest" contained in these collections. The leading characters of the collection names are in the format "year/month" (eg 1998/03) followed by a short text description. These now reside in about 50 different LR collections. The number of photos in each collection varies between 1 and 43.
What I want to do is condense these 50 collections into a single master collection but keep them in the same chronological order Once I have done this I can use LR to apply an "indexing" number to all 1500 photos. I can then export the photos to a catalog and use the index for future sorting as I further refine the photos before printing. I will not need to worry about differing file names and inaccurate capture dates.
I found a tutorial showing how to condense groups of catalogs into a master catalog but there seems no similar option to group collections which I find hard to believe. I have the latest LR5.7.1 version.

To build on Modesto's comments: While collections allow you to provide a custom (manual) sort order, collection sets do not. You can see that by clicking on the Sort: dropdown in the toolbar at the bottom of Library grid mode when you have a collection set selected in the Collections panel:
So when you select a collect set, it will be ordered by Capture Time or some other criteria, but not by manual orders you imposed on each of its collections.
Rather than making a collection set, you could make another collection called "Master" and then add all of the pics in each of your other collections to Master in turn. Master will retain the order of the pics in which you added them. To make that go fast, right-click Master in the Collections panel and do Set As Target Collection. Then in chronological order, select each source collection in the collections panel. Do Edit > Select All to select all the pics in the collection, then right-click the pics and do Add To Target Collection ("B" is the keyboard shortcut).
Of course, if you update one of the individual collections, you'll have to manually update Master, which probably isn't what you want.
Stepping back, you're trying to use collections for something for which they're not designed. You want to set and maintain the chronological ordering of pics, and digital-asset-management tools like Lightroom provide a number of tools to let you use the "capture date" metadata field to do precisely that. You set the capture date of each pic, and then the tools will let you sort, slice, and dice by date very easily.
Digital cameras make this nearly painless, since they automatically set the capture date of pics. But the rub you've encountered is that you've got a large number of scans, and scanner software doesn't set the capture date for you (how could it? -- it doesn't know what the date should be).   So you need to set the capture date of your pics.   Unfortunately, LR was explicitly designed primarily for manipulating pics from digital cameras, and while many of us use LR to also manage scans, LR itself doesn't make it that easy, starting with its clunky Edit Capture Date command.
When I scan a group of slides, they're typically grouped by time (e.g. in numeric order, or from the same year, or whatever). I import the scans into LR, and then use a temporary collection to put them in proper chronological order, using the date and slide number printed on the slide.   Typically, I know the year and month but not the day or time of a group, so I'd like to set all the pics in the group to have capture dates, say, of 1961/2/1 12:00:01, 1961/2/1 12:00:02, 1961/2/1 12:00:03, etc. The clunky LR Edit Capture Command would make that exceedingly painful, but luckily, there are a couple of plugins, such as ExifMeta and Capture Time To Exif, that make it very easy.
While this is a little more work than dragging each photo manually into a collection, as you've been doing, it's really not that much more work, and you're left with your pics assigned capture dates that any software tool can use to display and organize.
You've already got your collections organized by year and month, so using ExifMeta to assign capture dates to your scans shouldn't be that hard.

IPod Apps no longer work, Music disappears, Fix?

QUESTION : How to fix permanently the “iPod Touch Breakdown“?
(seems identical to the iPhone “Breakdown“)
Since I upgraded to 2.0.2, running iTunes 7.7.1 (11) on a MacBook Pro G4, I keep having big trouble with Apps, Music and Films.
Here is what I call the “iPod Touch Breakdown“:
- Apps won’t start : the iPod would go back to the home screen after a few seconds.
- Music and Films disappear (My music consists essentially of personnal CDs).
- (for me Photos are still there)
- all original Apple Apps work OK
This is a known problem, also occuring on the iPhone with many posts on the iPhone discussions forum (see “iPhone“/“Installing and Using iPhone Applications“/“iPhone Applications no longer work“. At the time I write this messge, this question has been viewed 16,080 times ( ) (*) and there have been 319 replies: probably a sad record for a single question, which means that THERE REALLY IS A BASIC PROBLEM.
My iPod is a 8Gb purchased while staying in Pasadena, almost a year ago. I was extremely happy to use it more and more like a PDA (updates 2.0.1 and 2.0.2).
There have been some fixes proposed on the discussions forum (iPhone) that I tried and I have tried myself a couple more. NONE of them could fix the problem permanently: all fixes have been working for a day or two, no more. Untill you download an App (even an update) and you get the “Breakdown“ again.
As other users, I have noted a slowdown in anything I am doing (e.g. typing text) just before the Apps stop working and the music disappears. (see for instance Truth42 on iPhone Forum (Applications no longer work), Posted: Aug 25, 2008 10:57 AM)
Fixes: typically you get to disinstall and then reinstall all your Apps. Each time, you lose all your Apps parameters (bad for data bases and notes).
Two ways:

In the end you can use the Apps you have reloaded, but just for a few days (or hours)… until you cannot resist downloading a new App, or simply just download an App update. It won’t breakdown instantly after you do that, but it will very soon.
I certainly would take any procedure to fix this definitely. However, the best choice is probably to use as few third party Apps as possible (none is better) and wait for 2.1. Hopefully Apple is working on this, and we’ll get a definite fix very soon. This actually makes a very bad press for the iPod Touch and iPhone.

0. make a note of all your music, movies, photos, apps selections to restore
1. cancel connect attempt to iTunes store (little 'x' in iTunes toolbar)
2. cancel attempts to sync or backup (little 'x' in iTunes toolbar)
3. clicked <OPTION>[Restore] once selecting my iPod touch device
4. navigate to <home>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Udpates/
5. pick the prior update: iPod1,12.0.1_5B108Restore
6. then waited through iPod window status displays
'Preparing iPod software for restore...'
'Restoring iPod software...'
'Verifying iPod Software...'
7. OK the 'Your iPod has been restored to factory settings,...'
8. Ssync process did NOT automatically being so I unplugged & plugged it
(I did verify that 2.0.1 was loaded seeing the App Store)
9. Pick 'Set up as a new iPod'; don't pick an earlier backup point
(mostly 'cause I couldn't be sure which was a good failsafe).
10. iTunes then begin setup of my [ahem] new iPod.
STOP IT; it'll try and do restore everything. Then navigate the tabs for
your iPod and re-select those things you want (music,photos,movies,apps,etc)
So like any computer you need to keep proper backups.
The apple s/w system updater appears to do just that automatically, thanks! Of course it would've been nice to have had the 2.0.2 version tested a bit more before its release.
IMHO the host (mac) should have kept my prefs for the iPod rather than my resorting to handwritten notes but at least I'm back to normal. Consider when replacing an iPod how you'd want the replacement to be a mirror of its predecessor.
Oh, skip future requests to update to 2.0.2 until Apple can get his sorted out.

Itunes no longer works after latest update

I updated the latest version of iTunes. Now, it no longer works. Then my computer told me to update the latest version, so tried again, but again it didn' work. So in uninstalled iTunes and tried to install it again. It didn't work. I even tried with an older update after I had deleted the latest one and it didn't work. Now my computer tells me that some file or stuff was missing.

Ipod out no longer works with iOS 6.1

As the title suggests, after updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1 the iPod out function no longer works with connected devices. With the previous version, I could hook up my Kenwood car stereo using the lightning to 30 pin adapter and the stereo would "Read" my iPhone and begin playing the first track of my music collection. I also had song, artist and playlist search support.
Now, all I get is a constant "Reading" indicator and can't get past this point.
Is anyone else having any experiences similar to this and does anyone have any suggestions to fix it?

Try this.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off.
Set the date one year ahead. Try to get email.
If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to get email again.

DVI to S-Video TV out no longer working

I have a Macbook Pro 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo, bought mid 2007. Up until December last year I have been able to use an Apple DVI to TV adapter to display on a TV. For some unknown reason this no longer works. To find a solution I have tried plugging things in different orders, deleting preferences, creating a new user but nothing works. It may have happened after a Mac OS X Leopard update but I cannot be sure.
What I do know is:
- the DVI port still functions on an LCD, using a DVI to VGA adapter or just straight DVI.
I've read about failing video cards etc but I don't think any of these apply to my model. I believe it might actually be a software issue...
Has anyone had any success with recent versions of Leopard and connecting a TV?

turns out the dvi to s-video converter was kinda sorta broke, I had to jam the cable down into the s-video and rca plastic piece, I guess it wasnt making a perfect condition. Oh well works now.

Scan function no longer working on my Printer

Recently moved locations and had to re set up my PC. Since then the scan function no longer works. I get the error message "Scanner reported an error", "Failed to open a session on the device". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP drivers, i have checked the internet connections and all are working. Actually have had a lot of troubles earlier with the rinter and the scanner re wireless connections but hoped to have finally overcome these.
Not part of the problem but a real gripe as to what is the purpose of wireless devices when they never work as well as the ethernet connected devices, someone really needs to get this sorted <gripe over>.
Can anyone help me please to get my system back up and running. I surgent now as currently on paternity leave and need to get some administrative issues doen from home in the next couple of days.

Thank you for trying my recommendations, I believe this is a wireless issue. Let's go ahead and start troubleshooting the network:
I would like you to shut down the Router, Printer and Mac in that order. Wait atleast 60 seconds, then power on the items in the way they were shut down. Re-attempt the scan. Was this successful or are you still getting the error message?
If you are still getting the error message, let's try Pinging the Mac and testing the connection, click on the link below:

If pings are successful the issue is not likely communication, instead it is probably a firewall blocking the scanning communication. Continue below:
To turn on firewall protection:
1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security, and then click Firewall.
2.   Open the Firewall pane of Security preferences   
3. Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then type an administrator name and password.  
4. Click Start to turn on Firewall.
To allow only specified applications and services to connect:
1. Click Advanced.  
2. Click the Add (+) button, and then select the application or service in the dialog that appears.

Getting error message : the item Itunes.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved so this shortcut will no longer work properly. I get this either using the start menu or the desktop shortcut. I tried going to programs /itunes and repair.

I think it is some sort of permissions issue preventing the installer from updating the shortcuts. Is your account an administrator of the machine? If it is and you still have the problem then you may need to explicitly use the "Administrator" account for the install.

iTunes and the iTunes Store won't have anything to do with your photos. Those would be stored only on your laptop unless you made a backup of some sort. If you didn't, and the hard drive in your laptop has failed, then your photos are gone unless you wish to pay a disk recovery service a lot of money to try and get them back.
As to your music, if you purchased it from the iTunes Store you can probably re-download it. Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time.
