LSMW in DMS

Hi friends,
Is it possible to use LSMW to upload files in DMS. How to upload files  through LSMW as file name stores in different table. Or the better option is to go for z development? Kindly suggest.
Regards,
Punam Modi

hi poonam,
you can use BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 to upload the document in dms.
Develop BDC using this bapi  BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 , you can upload the docuement in dms.
consult your abaper for this.

  • DMS Data Migration-Help required

    Hi,
I don't have enough knowledge on DMS Data migration.
In our recent Implementation, we are implementing SAP DMS.
Our client has more legacy data which is in their server. So we have to upload all the data's into SAP DMS.
I gone through few SCN threads and understand that LSMW & BDC will be used for Data migration.
Which is the best method for Data migration?
We are having 50+ document types and it has different processes (status network), Classification & few Object links.
Please advice me and provide me some examples to upload legacy data in DMS.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
There are few approach discussed in the thread https://scn.sap.com/thread/2119796
You may check feasibility on these approaches for your scenario.
We are having 50+ document types and it has different processes (status network), Classification & few Object links.
Creating these configurations into SAP is one time and should not be a problem.
I gone through few SCN threads and understand that LSMW & BDC will be used for Data migration.
Which is the best method for Data migration?
How much volume of data do you have in legacy system ?
Have a thought on whether do you really need to migrate all these data into SAP DMS   ???
    OR
You can configure the DMS system and start fresh leaving the document in legacy system as it is.
    Hope this helps.

  • Accessing files stored in Common Server and share drive with  SAP DMS

    Hi DMS Gurus,
We have a requirement, apart from retreving the data from content server storage, the client also wants the documents stored in common file server and Share drive also to be accessed through DMS,
    1) one option for this may be upload all the documents in the existing servers to DMS Content servers to get the full funtionality of DMS i'm i right? please suggest.
here again they have lacs of document so this may not be a ideal solution, now 2nd option is
    2) create a data carrier and Mount points with the existing server if i'm right, but by just doing this what funtionalities will this provide
i have a preassumption that this existing common server can be used as a storage area for DMS (as vault or common server), but only those documents which are stored in to this common server or shared folder through DMS can be retrived by DMS., again i'm i right?
but how can we access all the lacs of file which are already existing there for years.
how can we see all the documents in SAP DMS which are stored earlier in this common server before DMS,
is migrating all the necessary preexisting documents to SAP DMS the only Solution for this.
any solution for this please suggest.
Points sure for any clarification given
    Thanks and  Regards

    hi Priya
This is an old thread but nevertheless would like to give some inputs.
your point .. common file server and Share drive also to be accessed through DMS,
    1) one option for this may be upload all the documents in the existing servers to DMS Content servers to get the full funtionality of DMS.
<The option 1 is an ideal option as in future u would one day need to migarate the documents if u intend to use SAP DMS as the DMS system in ur org>
Alternatively if the documents would still need to be retained in the file server but also would need to associate to SAP business objects u could use the Define data carrier external DMS.
This again depend on what kind of documents are stored in the file server & are they relevant to be associated to SAP objects/ Transactions.
The point here is u still want to use SAP DMS to view the file , all though there are other option as Archive link, Service for objects etc. Using SAP DMS option will still call for creating DIR in SAP & assigning the file path hyper link using LSMW /upload prog.
So as for a temp sol till u clean up the file server u can use the hyperlink and later migrate to Content server.

  • DIR Mass Upload by Standard LSMW.

    Hi Experts:
I'm using the LSMW tool to upload in mass processing DMS Documents.
The option used is the standard batch input, using the program RCVBI010.
The LSMW has working almost well, the only problem is the original is not save. All others functions are working well.
In the DRAW_BI structure, i'm passing values to fields STYPE, DOKAR, DOKNR, DOKVR, DOKTL, LABOR and FILEP.
Executing the batch Input in visible mode, the system enter the file path. After save, when i check the document, dont have any file in original.
    Anybody can help me?
    Thanks a lot.
    Best Regards,
    Ricardo Siqueira

    Hi Lutz.
No i dont. I solve this problem creating new LSMW program only to do the check-in of the original, by batch input mode (recording).

    Hi Sam,
Additional data is also feasible to add thru BDC. we have done it in current project.

  • DMS massive import documents from legacy system

    Hello Gurues,
I am new in DMS and I would need some guidelines in order to massively import documents from a legacy system to DMS (content server).
After that, I am expecting to be able to mass assign those documents to EHS Specification header and property level (PLM).
Hope you can help me with it.
    Thanks in advance

    HI Karina,
for mass import or upload the document use LSMW or BDC method. For addign the new objects as your objects are not in DMS standard objects list use the following link:

  • Add attachment in Equipment (LSMW)

    HI Expert,
I have some equipments that have been created. Now I want to add attachment file to those equipments by changing the equipment (IE02).
By manual method, I could add attachment in service for object button. But I have hundreds of equipment, so I want to make some kind of tool for that purpose.
Does anyone know how to make LSMW tool for that purpose? Or is there any other way?
    Thanks before.
    Regards,

    Hi there,
basically you have two options: SAP DMS with info records (as mentioned above) or object attachments (GOS).
For SAP DMS you can work with LSMW, for GOS its not possible as far as I know.
If you want to use GOS and mass-attach files, check out this thread for a program:

  • MASS UPLOAD OF DOCUMENTS USING LSMW

    Hello Experts,
I am experienced in SAP DMS but not in LSMW.
I would like to use LSMW for Mass Uplaod of Documents and would like to give the input in the below format.
I was able to create LSMW for Doc Upload using Recording option but it will not give me the original path location.
I know there is a BAPI too for Document create which is BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE but dont know how to use it in LSMW>
Which option is best to be used in this case. Below find the input format of the file which am looking
    DIR
      Number
    Doc Type
    Doc Part
    Doc Ver
    Description
    Status
    Original File
      Path.
    Appriciate your answers.
    Regards,
    S.Kulkarni

    Dear Shrikanth,
please note that batch input in Document Management System is not
supported for Releases higher than 4.5. The batch input technology
was designed for the transactions CV01 and not for CV01N/02N etc.
    To create
or change a document info record in background I would recommend you to
use the BAPIs BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 or BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHANGE2 to create
or change a Document info record. Please see SAP note 766277,
which contains the full documentation of all BAPIs in the DMS area.
Normally you can use DMS BAPI or API function modules to checkin
originals into the content server. I would recommend you to use the
API modules as they are much more flexible then BAPIs. Please see the
note 504692 which contains further information and some
    sample programs.
With transaction SXDA you can also create document info records
in the background but the filepath should not be shortened anymore.
For further information please check SAP note 817743.
I hope that this information could be useful for you to setup a
working scenario to edit document info records successfully in
    background.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • DMS Query

    Hi All,
    1. How to load the Documents from existing DMS system to SAP DMS?.. is there any standard program available?
    2. Can a URL / link of existing DMS system be able to provide in the SAP DMS with reference to DIR?
Appreciate if anyone can provide detail input.
    Thanks
    Guruprasad..

    Hi,
Q1: I've seen some discussion in this forum that LSMW can be used for this, although I have not used it myself. It also depends on what you want to do. If you simply want to load only the documents, this can be done by doing a mass upload from EasyDMS. However, if you want to populate information such as classifications and object links LSMW may be an option. You will need to create some sort of mapping between the data in your existing DMS to the fields in SAP DMS, regardless of what tool you use.
Q2: Not quite sure I understand your question. You can attach a URL link under object services (system > services for object, then click create and select URL).
    Cheers,
    Lashan

  • LSMW  - Open Sales Orders

    Hello  Friends
I want to find if anybody can guide me on how to get all open sales order tables , i want to create a format and create a flat file for uplodading the file , for this what do i need and how do i do it.
Also for creating LSWM can i use the existing one which i can just Assign the New file to the existing one .
    Regards.

    Dear Mehmood,
I want to find if anybody can guide me on how to get all open sales order tables
You want to extract all the open sales orders- which you can get from Table:VBUP key in overall document status in selection screen ( You can use VBUK also- but if there are certain sales orders in which some of the items are completed or few of them open, using VBUK - you will not get exact records)
Secondly, you can get the data by using Query also- in SQVI
design a query with VBAK / VBAP & VBUP
so that from VBAK you can give time period & sales area details
from VBAP - you can enter plant relevant details to filter certain records & item category as well
where as VBUP- filter wth the status.
once downloaded store in flat file.
Now Create LSMW object by using batch input recording method. after mapping the relevant fields,
prepare the flat file in such a - it suits to the upload file / recording file. then you can upload the already downloaded n stored open sales orders in flat file.
Hope this is what you are looking for.

  • Error while creating a LSMW

    Hi,
I have created a LSMW for updating sales office in the Sales order by using Direct input method.
While specify files;I specified the file saved in the Desktop. While saving I get an error saying 'Logical path is not specified'.
Can anyone tell me why this error occurs and how to rectify this??
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Sophia Xavier

    HI
Place the cursor on "legacy data" and click on "create" option.
You will get one screen. There, you have input box called "FILE". By selecting drop box or pressing F4 on that, you will get all folders, files available at ur PC.
Search for you file, and double click on ur file. Next give all mandatory information in that screen. Finally press ok and save your "specify screens". It can be saved.
    Reward if it is useful.
    Thanks.
