Mac address or mac IDs

My macbook pro was stolen and I need my mac-ID (mac address) to submit it on quick heal can I get it by my serial number or part number?
please help me

I doubt it. You should have written it down as a preventative measure if thst is what is required by quick heal.
Quick Heal isi nternet security software. It does not appear to have anything to do with theft location.

  • Can't add new MAC address to MAC ACL on Airport Express

    Hi,
I just recently got a new iPhone 3GS. When I logged into my Airport Express to add it's MAC address to the ACL I found that the + icon was greyed out. I can modify old MAC addresses in the list and delete addresses, but I can't add new ones. Anyone have any idea why this might be the case. It seems like I can modify all other settings without any problems. I restarted the basestation, no help. I also even reset the password just incase, as you might expect that didn't help either. Any thoughts? Thanks.
    Setup:
WDS with 2 other access points
Mac Address Access Control set to "Local"

If you are configuring the router as MGCP, you do not enter the mac address, just the router name.

  • WRT610N: Cannot enter MAC address in MAC address filter list

My WRT610N cannot accept a very specific MAC address in any position of the MAC address filter list.  It is a valid address and it was working fine in the filter list of my WRT54G but the 610N will just not take that specific address!  What is this all about?

I recommend to replace the WEP only device instead of taking the risk of a hacked network.
And just forget about the wireless mac address filter. Anyone, who wants to crack your WEP network will collect enough accepted MAC addresses during the cracking process. It's just not worth the trouble to set up the filter and keep the list current...
Thanks for the diligent follow-up gv but I can't replace the WEP-only device for now.  (I need to go through a conversion process for that device to accept WAP and that will take a fair amount of time)  I understand your point about getting accepted MAC addresses but, at least, it requires a bit more effort... Maybe I will return the WRT610 and stick with my old WRT54 until the 610 gets fixed...

  • How to change mac address on mac

i'm sry i'm not sure if this is the right section or not but yeah.... nyways does anyone know how to change mac address on a macbook?

If you have not updated your OS you can use the following command.
    sudo ifconfig enX ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
You will need to replace the X with your network number and the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx with the mac you want to have.
    Then run
    sudo ifconfig enX down
    sudo ifconfig enX up
This change will last till your next reboot.
    cheers
NOTE: This is not working in 10.5

    Hello Kappy,
Why is it not a good idea to change the MAC address?
    Thanks Kevin
Because it is intended to be a globally unique identifier of hardware. The MAC address can be changed on modern systems but why? See here for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address
Here are some reasons a person may want to change their MAC address. None of them sound like legitimately valid reasons.
    From http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=security/changemac
To get past MAC address filtering on a router. Valid MAC      addresses can be found by sniffing them and then the deviant user could      assume the MAC of a valid host. Having two hosts on the same network can cause some network stability problems,      but much of the time it's workable. This is one of the reasons why MIC      Address filtering on a wireless router is pointless. An attacker can just      sniff the MAC address out of the air while in monitor mode and set his WiFi      NIC to use it. Interestingly, a lot of hotels use MAC filtering in their      "pay to surf" schemes, so this method can be an instant in for cheap skate      road warriors.
Sniffing other connections on the network. By assuming      another host's MAC as their own they may receive packets not meant for them.      However, ARP poisoning is generally a better method than MAC spoofing to      accomplish this task.
So as to keep their burned in MAC address out of IDS and   security logs, thus keeping deviant behavior from being connected to their   hardware. For example, two of the main things a DHCP server logs when it      leases an IP to a client is the MAC address and host name. If you have a      wireless router look around on it's web interface for where it logs this      info. Luckily there are tools to randomize this information (MadMACs).
To pull off a denial of service attack, for instance   assuming the MAC of the gateway to a sub net might cause traffic problems.      Also, a lot of WiFi routers will lock up if a client tries to connect with      the same MAC as the router's BSSID.

  • I need to change the MAC Address for Airport on MacBook

I have a specific need to change my son's Airport MAC address as his school requires the use of USB network cards that aren't compatible with MACs. These cards are needed because the school's router uses MAC address filtering.
Before we upgraded his Mac to Snow Leopard, we were able to change the MAC address to the MAC address of the useless dongal the school supplied. We basically created an AppleScript program that ran the "sudo ifconfig en1 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" and all was good.
This command no longer works for changing the MAC address. We tried it as root user as well and by typing it into the terminal window as root. After running the command, we can run "ifconfig en1" and it does display the new mac address but when we turn the airport on and try to connect, it just hangs and won't connect.
Our other non-Snow Leopard still works fine after running the commands so I'm guessing Apple disabled this functionality. It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac addres.
Is there a new way to accomplish this? I've searched everywhere.
    Thanks!

Would an easier solution be to provide the school's IT admin with your mac address and have it added? If they can add a block of mac addresses for the usb dongles, they can add more for machines that cannot use the dongle.
Also: "It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac address."
While it may not be a security issue for your machine, it is a security for the school network who is using mac address filtering as hopefully only one part of their wireless security.
That being said, have you read this?

  • Is there any possible ways to get the MAC address?

    Hi guys:
I am writing servlets on the server side. Is there any possible ways to get the MAC address when a HTTP request come in? Thank you very much for any helps.
    all the best!

It is usually impossible to get the MAC address of the maker of a HTTP request in any programming language or system.
At best, you can get the MAC of the closest intervening router, firewall, whatever.
Are you sure you mean the MAC address? MAC looks like this: 8:ab:f0:0:71:bb:90 (Ethernet), or 01-23-45-67-89-ab (Token Ring), etc, depending on your network type.
In contrast, an IP address looks like this: 209.249.116.195. If you want the IP address, check out the javadoc for HttpServletRequest and ServletRequest. Caveat: load balancers, web caches, proxy servers, etc will mask the "true" peer's address. Don't do anything silly like try to use the IP address for security or authentication.

  • ACS v4.1 PEAP and MAC Address Validation

I would like to authenticate to a ACS server via both 802.1x (PEAP) and to also validate the MAC Address of the user. Can both of these be done? I have 802.1x (PEAP) working to the ACS and Active Directory but now I would like to add the MAC Address of the laptops. Can I use Network Access Profiles and add the MAC-address under MAC-Authentication bypass?
    Your assistance is appreciated.

I seem to have figured my way out of this. The reason for the short dot1x timer is that we are using MAB to authenticate the client MAC, so we actually WANT the dot1x authentication to timeout as quickly as possible for the secondary (MAB) authentication to execute.
I'm also suffering from the age-old problem of interpreting the logic of a config originally implemented by someone else. I'm wondering if all the dot1x commands we have are actually necessary in our situation.
What I have found when comparing new switches to old is that on the 3750s, show authentication sessions for an interface only shows mab as a runnable method, while on the 3850s it lists dot1x, mab and webauth (in that order). Using authentication order mab and authentication priority mab on an interface of the 3850 seems to do the trick. With debug mab turned on you can see the mab authentication working and the switch then allows the interface to pass traffic. Just as importantly, it blocks the port if I try using a client whose MAC is not in the ACS database.
    Appreciate your help.

  • MAC address on 2950

    Hi...
Whenever I telnet to the switch that my PC is connected to and type sho arp I get all the IP addresses of PCs connected to the switch while the hardware address is the same for all of them.
How can I get the mac addresses of the PCs connected to the ports?
    Thanks

You should be getting the correct hardware address if the PCs are directly connected to the switch.
If you are connecting a group of PCs that pass through a router, then the single MAC that you are seeing is the MAC of the router interface connecting to the 2950.
To get the real MACs of the PCs, you'd need to look at the ARP table of the router.
Here's a sh arp from my switch:
    Smack_2950#sho arp

  • IPv4 reservations check all of Option 61, not just MAC address

I am trying to use Server 2012 R2 DHCP to assign IPv4 addresses in a mixed network.
Most systems send a very brief Client Identifier (Option 61) which includes only hardware type and MAC address.  Some systems (most importantly Fedora 21 in my case) send more information including an IAID, DUID type, and time in addition to hardware
type and MAC address.  MAC address still comes at the end of the option.
I am attempting to use reservations to assign addresses to workstations, but DHCP doesn't seem to know what to do with the extended options sent by Fedora 21; it checks all of the client identifier against the MAC address and then rejects the request because
the client identifier has additional information.  Has anyone found a server setting to resolve this?  Once a Fedora client is set up it can be configured to send only the MAC address and hardware type in Option 61, but I am looking for something
that will work with the default options.  It seems odd to me that DHCP requires a MAC address to identify clients in a reservation, but compares the MAC address to all of the contents of Option 61.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that DHCP server(Windows Server 2012) can’t reserve IP address to Fedora 21, due to extended options(61) sent by this client.
Windows DHCP server, reservation is based on MAC address. as you mentioned that DHCP server will check the message sent from the client, if the matched MAC address has been detected, reserved IP address will assign to the client.
As far as I know, there is no additional setting for Windows DHCP server to control the identifiable field of message sent from client.
Configure the Fedora client to send only the MAC address and hardware type in Option 61, could be a better way to resolve this problem.

  • EPC3010 MAC Address Aging

The spec sheet does not say a lot about the bridge forwarding table.
Could someone tell me the number of MAC addresses that the forwarding table can hold.
Also are there SNMP OIDs for controlling how quickly entries in the forwarding table will time out, or for deleting entries in the forwarding table?

The Add option allows you to add Ethernet MAC addresses for devices that might pass traffic through the bridge. If no addresses are added through the Add option, the bridge learns the first eight MAC addresses that pass through its Ethernet Port. Subsequently, only data from those addresses is allowed to pass through the bridge.
Caution: The first MAC address you add should be that of the PC you are using to Telnet or browse to
    the bridge.
You should add MAC addresses if there are more than eight Ethernet devices attached to the hub to
which the bridge is connected. This ensures that the selected devices communicate through the bridge. After an address is added, the bridge won't learn any more addresses. You must type each MAC address you wish to have communicate through the bridge (up to eight).
Once you enter the first MAC address, the MAC addresses of every other device that you want the
bridge to communicate with must be entered. The process is not automatic and the bridge will no longer "learn" any addresses. The addresses must be manually entered.

  • How do I restrict access to Wireless router (800 series) by mac address

I hope I'm in the correct area.
I'm trying to deny access to 3 wireless devices to the cisco 800 series wireless router
    The MAC address are:
MAC Address    IP address      Device        Name            Parent         State
    0014.6caf.410a 192.168.2.26    unknown       -               self           Assoc

    a4d1.d205.72e1 192.168.2.25    unknown
If this cannot be done is it poosible to assign the mac address to an ip address and then denying access to the ip address.
    Thanks

    Hello Jon,
You should be able to do it either way. Best way would be by IP address so you do not even allow the host to associate with your AP.
