Mac cannot see my audio interface

Hi,
Please help!! I have recently purchased logic studio. In trying to set it up I keep on hitting a brick wall. I have connected my midi controller into my Edirol UA25 and connected the audio capture unit to my Macbook as shown. In the Midi/Audio settings my Mac cannot see the midi input even though Iam able to select the UA25 as an input and output device.
I've been searching the web and logic manuals for hours now!
Any answers would be massively appreciated.
Will

Hi jeb70. Hsve you selected the edirol in mac system preferences as preferred audio device? Also try unplugging the cable from the interface to the mac and replugging once logic is running. Also check if the track in logic has edirol inputs selected as that track's inputs. Hope this helps. Scorpii.

  • Mac not recognizing mixer/Audio interface

    HELP   HELP    HELP
All you home recording studio enthusiast out there I really need some help, the sooner the better as I have a session tomorrow.  here is my issue.  I can’t record an audio (vocal) track.  Here is my gear, DAW: Reason 8, Mac running Yosemite (version 10.10), mixer: Behringer 1204 USB (with built audio interface).  I’ve also tried the following stand alone audio interfaces, TASCAM US 100 and M-Audio Fast track Pro.  Key board Axiom 25.  I gone into preferences and selected USB Audio CODEC for both output and input on the MAC, did the same under reason preference audio tab.  when I create a audio track in Reason, in the audio input section I see “No audio input”.  When I select the drop down menu there is a section for Mono input and Stereo for me to check this is followed by a grayed out section that states “No audio input available, please check your sound card settings.
The other funny thing is when I use Garage Band, I have no issues recording.  I just recorded in garage band using the Behringer 1204.  Am I missing some simple setting somewhere, missing a channel routing.  I need any help anyone can give me.

    Me too!
Almost the same as Rharrell - Reason 8, Mac running Yosemite (version 10.10.3), irig pro audio interface (I pick up my Apogee Duet this week but I think i'll have the same problem). No audio inputs available, please check your sound card settings.
    Can anybody help please.

  • Leopard Mac cannot see hard drives on Tiger Macs

Running Leopard 10.5.2 on a Mac Pro 3GHz 4-core w/6GB RAM. I cannot connect to any hard drive / root directory on any Mac on my network running Tiger (10.4.9, .10 or .11) or Panther or OS9. I have 4 Macs on the network but only one running Leopard.
The Mac running LeopardI can connect to the User folder on any Mac running Tiger but cannot see any hard drives' root directory on any Mac running Tiger . No hard drive can be accessed from a User folder even if an alias of the Tiger drive is placed in the ~/User/Public folder.
The reverse works as usual. Any Mac running Tiger can see any hard drive on any networked Mac including Macs running Leopard.
Has anyone else encountered this issue &/or found a workaround? After 2 hours with Apple Tech Support including a system specialist, they confirmed this behavior in Leopard Macs networked to Tiger OS Macs. (Hard drives can be seen between all Macs running Leopard) It was theorized by one of the Apple techs that the behavior was engineered to encourage upgrading all Macs to Leopard. BAD idea! I requested this be reported to Apple engineering.
    Any ideas?
    TIA!

Download and read the documentation for Carbon Copy Cloner which is handy and what a lot of us have used over the years to clone, migrate and backup or manage drives and storage.
I think 500GB is overkill for boot drive as most of your apps and OS only need less than 150GB, and all of your data and media and home folders can be anywhere you want and not on the boot drive. Also, Apple way over charges for 2TB drives and no reason or value to do so. That is history now but fwiw.
You could I guess setup one 2TB as boot drive easy enough. Then migrate etc. Make that a backup of everything. Then manually or with CCC or other you can clone just what you want to SSD and to the other 2TB drive.
Apps should always go to the boot drive, the SSD in this case, and not to other locations. No benefit putting them elsewhere.
When you migrate are your files on TimeMachine or just standard files and folders? and can't selectively copy? Honestly never found need to use M.A. more than once probably.

  • Audition CS6 Mac Won't Play Audio Interface Preference Issue

Hi Im having some problems with Audition CS6 mac. I have the full master collection and only encounter this issue with Audition.
    On my Macbook pro
I use my internal speakers/audio or a vrm box audio interface, occasionally Ill use a fasttrack pro to record. My problem occurs after I use the audio interface. When I next open Audition set up for the built in speakers/audio and hit play, it says playing but nothing plays.
When I open Audition after using a external interface going back to my built in macbook audio I get a pop warning that:
"Your systems audio hardware settings have changed. Would you like to go review Audition's audio hardware preferences?"
I click yes,  go to that everything is set for internal mac audio,
hit play, says playing bottom left, then  just sits there.
I noticed today when it did this, that it if I go into the Audio Channel Mapping Preference, it shows what ever audio interface I used last on the output/not working on it. I am unable to change theses settings.
I reboot after changing audio interfaces, etc.
I can delete my Audition preference files in my user folder and it functions again, but that also entails rescanning all plugins which takes some time.

I just found that removing MachineSpecificSettings.xml in the user/preferences/adobe/audition/5.0/  folder will get it to play again under the internal audio settings. And when I look at channel mapping it shows the internal audio.

  • Mac cannot see wi-fi hardware

Apparently lots of people are having this issue.
If you imac cannot see the wi-fi hardware.
    1.  Shut down imac.
    2.  Disconnect all wires connected to the imac including the power cord.
    3.  Hold power button down for 10 seconds.
    4. Reconnect the all wires you had previously disconnected.
    5.  Turn on the imac and now you should have wi-fi.
Something to do with power going to the airport card.  This reorders the setting.
You are welcome and have a blessed rest of  your day.

802.11a is at 5GHz, however, your specific phone model neither supports 802.11a nor 802.11n in 5GHz. Only 802.11n in 2.4GHz, 802.11g in 2.4GHz, and 802.11b in 2.4GHz is supported.

  • G5 Power Mac Cannot See AE Base Station

i've set up my airport express network and it is working fine with my iMac 2 GHz Duo - now in trying to connect my G5 Dual 2.5 GHz Power PC the G5 cannot see the AE using airport admin utility...
    steps i've taken...
bought a replacement airport antenna for the back of the G5 Tower
placed the AE directly beside my G5 and scanned for it (nothing)
    taken wireless security off
waited on hold for an incredibly long time for tech support
still the G5 can't find the network...
    please help

You may want to double-check to see if you connected the antenna properly on the AirPort Extreme Card in your G5. (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108039)

  • Mac cannot see shared windows 7 pc or printer

Recently upgraded to windows 7 (from xp) and now I'm having issues networking with my iMac. The PC can see the Mac just fine. On the mac, 0 items show up under network, even though file and print sharing are enabled on the PC. If I "connect to server" I am able to mount the shared windows folders. I am also able to stream my itunes library from the pc to the mac. However, I cannot add the shared printer connected to the windows 7 pc to the mac. I also have a laptop running windows xp and it can see both the mac and windows 7 pc just fine. It can also use the shared printer.
Basically I need to know why my shared windows 7 pc and windows xp laptop are not showing up as shared computers in finder, and why isn't the mac recognizing the shared printer?

I've contacted both Apple and Microsoft this morning. Apple says that since I can force the connection it must be a MS issue.. something they've changed in windows 7. MS says that since the windows 7 computer can browse files on the mac and because the xp laptop can print to the shared windows 7 printer, this issue is beyond their boundary for support, ie.. it's a Mac issue.
I don't care to point fingers. I just want things to work. As a last resort, i'm going to physically connect the printer to the mac, share it, and see if the windows pc can use it. However, that is not a desirable option for me because of the location of the computers/space in my home.

  • Mac Cannot see Windows HDD Partition/ Windows cannot reformat disc?

I have installed boot camp and windows 7 64 bit on my mac pro dual quad core.
    I have 3 drives.
#1 is 1 TB and partitioned in 2 logical drives so that one is windows NTFS and one is Mac. The mac OS does not see the windows drive. In fact it appears in disk manager as UNMOUNTED and FAT when in fact its NTFS.
#2 is the drive that shipped with the mac, partitioned into 2 drives, one which boots windows (bootcamp) and 1 boots OS X. No problems.
The problem is drive #1 holds all my vido from my camcorder so I need the mac to recognize the windows drive and read the data. I copied all the data off of the NTFS partition and tried to format it in Windows. Windows says its "in use". It is not in use since Windows boots from BOOTCAMP on a different physical drive. It won't let me ignore the error, if I try it waits a few seconds and repeats the error.
I tried to erase the partion in disk manager, same issues. Even after the mac erases it into any format (Mac, Fat32, etc...), the Windows disk console will resfuse to format it claiming that its "in use".
    Any ideas?
Anyone else have the same problem? I think it has to do with the hidden 200 MB partitions that windows 7 creates and that the MAC may unintenionally mess with.

    Maybe
    On the Win7 machine,
    1. Ignore everything to do with Homegroup.
    2. Go > Computer > Users > User; right click on User and chose Share with > Specific people; and Set to share with a specific individual or Everyone—both with Read/Write permission.
    3. Go Control Panel > Network and Sharing Options > Advanced sharing Settings, and Turn on network discovery, Turn on file and printer sharing, Turn off public folder sharing , and Turn off password protected sharing (unless sharing won’t occur without turning it on).
    4. Restart (probably not necessary, but I’d do it).
    On the Sno machine,
    1. Go System Preferences > Sharing > Check File sharing > Go Options > Enable SMB sharing.
    2. Go System Preferences > Network > Select Airport or Ethernet depending on what you are going to be using. I am assuming you will be using wireless below. Let me know if not true.
    3. Having selected Airport, select ask to join new networks and show Airport status in menu bar.
    4. Click advanced > click remember networks this computer has joined > Click Wins > Enter the ip address of your Win7 machine in the WINS server box > Enter the Win7's workgroup name in the workbook box unless it already is there (look in the drop down menu too). In all likelihood the name is workgroup, but check on the Win7 machine.
    5. Restart (probably not necessary, but I’d do it).
Try to connect to your Win7. Use Go menu > Connect to server. In trying to connect, type smb://ipaddress (of the Win7 machine). If, for some reason, you are asked to, input a user name and password, then use you user name and password for the Win7. Don't save anything to Keychain now and actually never for making network connections.

  • When starting a Lync group message from a Mac, anyone else using a Mac cannot see the first message.

When a group conversation is started from a Mac, any other Mac user will not see the first message unless they reply to the message immediately.  Here's what I've tested:
Mac User 1 starts a group conversation with 4 people invited.
Mac User 2 sees the popup but does not immediately open the conversation window.
PC User 1 opens the conversation window and sends a reply.
PC User 2 opens the conversation window and sees all the text.
Mac User 2 finally opens the window about 30 seconds later and can see all text except the first message.
Why does the first message disappear for Mac User 2?
Note:  This does not happen if the original message was started from a PC, in that case Mac User 2 would be able to see the first message.
    Thank you for any help.

    Hi,
Did the issue happen only for single Mac computer or for multiple computers?
Please try to login Lync client on another Mac computer with the same Lync account and test again.
Please also try to login Lync client on the issued Mac computer with other Lync account and test again.
Please check if the Lync client on Mac computer update to the latest version, if not, please update to the latest version.

  • Why choose an audio interface over a mixer?

I know there are tons of question out there who are quite similar to mine, but yet none of 'em seem to be able to solve my question.
The main question I'm asking is: what's the difference between a mixer (either w/ or w/o built in audio interface) and an external audio interface?
But the answers to this exact question weren't sufficient because I ran into a practical problem, wich is as follows:
A friend of mine uses his Behringer XenyX 802 mixer as a way to input the signals his mic's send into GarageBand/Logic (kind of DAW is irrelevant). Now i've been wanting to set up my own little home studio myself and basically every tutorial/video out there says: "in order to record multiple instruments into your Mac, you need an audio interface." Now I don't get exactly why, because i've seen someone do it with a mixer. I assume that the mixer in question has a built in audio interface (since it has, amongst other features, phantom power), so it's not neccesary to have an audio interface, or is it?
Then I started searching the web for different audio-interfaces because I thought: "well they must know what they're talking about. So I guess I have to start looking for an interface." I found that a lot of interfaces <€100 have only 2 inputs, mostly an XLR input and a Jack/instrument input. One of the most popular beign the Avid Fast Track MK II USB interface. I happen to know that the Xenyx 802 has 2 XLR inputs AND 2 jack inputs and I can get my hands on one (2nd handed version) for about half the price of the Fast Track. I thought to myself: "why? Why do all those 'experts' who explain it in video's tell me to specifically get an interface?" this is because I found that the more input channels you want from an interface, the higher the price.
Can anyone help me explain why the Fast Trak MK II is twice as expensive as the Xenyx 802 while it offers half the amount of inputs?
    Thanks

    Cyclone13 wrote:
Thank you for your response, it helped quite a lot. Just to make sure if I understand correctly:
You can only record 2 instruments simultaneously at max using a mixer (on their own track, because I have seen it done before), but you would be able to record, say, 6 mic's at the same time if you had the proper interface (an interface with at least 6 inputs and outputs that is). Now the M-Audio has only two inputs I believe, and therefor I take it has a stereo output as well, so the maximum simultaneous recording for the fast track is 2, just as that of the Behringer?
Regarding the Mixer... The Behringer you posted is just a standard Mixer, it doesn't have USB output, in which case you have to use the Mac's audio system (the Line-Input) and run a cable from the Mixer's main or monitor outs into the Mac's Line input. Computers use inexpensive audio chips that do not provide the greatest sound.
I thought you were talking about this Behringer:
    http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Xenyx-Q802USB-Audio-Mixer/dp/B008O517IC
It is a mixer and an audio interface rolled intro one.
The M-Audio is a true separate Audio Interface that provides it's own Inputs and Outputs, (Like the USB Behringer).
Regardless, all three, the Behringer stand alone mixer that uses the mac's audio, The Behringer with the built-in stereo USB audio interface and the M-Audio with USB interface are all stereo units. The USB audio interface will only show two inputs and a stereo out. The most you can record separately on either is 2 instruments.
    Here is one step up:
    http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/audio-express
The MOTU unit has 4 analog inputs as well as a stereo digital input.
The next step is an interface like this with 8 Mic inputs. It would show up in Logic as 4 stereo pairs or 8 individual inputs. You could use 4 mics on a set of drums, 1 for guitar, bass direct, stereo input for keys and record everyone playing at the same time on 8 separate audio tracks giving you full control (in Logic) of the final mix.        http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/8pre
