Mac is typing by itself & adding spaces to everything I type

Hi,
A couple of days ago, I opened my Macbook, and on my password screen I noticed that words or letters were being filled in, without me even  pressing anything. It would just show something  being typed in,  cleared, and typed in  again. I would then just highlight the text and delete it, putting my password in and I could log in fine. Now, when I type online,  oftentimes my mac  will  start  typing  by itself, things like  " nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn."  until I stop it. It  also adds spaces  between letters that  I have to go back and erase, which is hard because the delete button won't work half the time!
Here is a s ample ofme  trying t o type  normally.  I'm  pressing  all  the r ight  keys but     t      h is  is  how i t                  turns out                                              .
I've restarted, but nothing changes. Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas, before I have to take it in .

Hi,
I'm having the same issue. My macbook is about 3.5 years old, have never had a problem with it, nor have I ever dropped it/spilled anything on it.
Today whenever I go to type it automatically starts typing letters over and over and adds spaces. Example: ittttttt       looooooooks like thiiiiiissss   .
Having found this thread I unplugged the power cord, and it's now running on battery power. It's still typing by itself regardless of battery power, or cord power. Any thoughts?
Note: I have a wireless internet connection. Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.
Please help!

Yesterday, my Mac Pro started restarting itself and giving me a message that there may be a problem. I'm not sure what to do, so I thought I'd share the Problem Report in case any of the more tech saavy people out there could spot the problem.
I tried posting the Problem report here, but I got a "You Have included content in your post that is not permitted." So here is the Pastebin address:

A page fault occurred in kerneltask. Drivers recently referenced include the caldigit driver.
You are not running the Mac OS X kernel. You have added about 17 third-party add-ons, shown at the beginning of the list of kernel extensions, which are likely making it unstable.
Pace app is a known bad actor that is installed with high-priced software. You will need to consult the manufacturer for removal instructions.
    Soundflower driver has been troublesome.
you have drivers for both highpoint and caldigit and logitech cards. ¿ do you need them all?
Something about the way you collected that panic log has it tagged in a formatted, numbered list. Perhaps you passed it through some other program rather than simply Copying from Console and Pasting with the forum software ?

  • Xserve raid can not recongize added space after expansion

My Xserve is Mac OS X server (ver 10.5.7), 2x2.8GHz Quad-core intel Xeon CPU. My Raid box is older (It is ordered with ours previous G5 Xserve), but work with Intel Xserve pretty good. It has 5 500GB disks on lower controller as Raid 5, I recently bought a new 500GB Apple disk drive module, and using Expansion function in RAID Admin to expand current raid, after that, the Raid admin correctly shows increased disk size, but in my system (or disk utility), it still shows the original (unchanged) disk size.
Could you please tell me how to make system recognize the newly added space? Thanks

Hi, after expansion you need to re-format to get the increased size. Don't forget to backup all that data first !!!

    •     After creating the VM (Guest OS) , When I tried adding a VIRTUAL DISK of size 150 GB , I got an error “Maximum available Disk space is only 10GB”.
    My query :
    •     Will I be able to add space to Existing VM from the added Repository ( /OVS/935970F2CC2D4B4391701397517F1001/ ) , whose system.img is stored in path /OVS/running_pool/34_rhel/ .

    Hi all,
I checked with Oracle on the above and got the info currently , the we can utilise only the space available in the existing repo and cannot extend to additional repo.
Work around is : Clone it to the other repo , or Use Symbolic link .
    Thanks,

    Hello;
The "diskgroup space exhausted" is key.
Try creating smaller files or adding disk space.

  • HT4410 I have a new mac mini, do I have enough space to download Windows 7, and can I just download the software or purchase a disc?

I have a new mac mini, do I have enough space to download Windows 7, and can I do it through online purchase or disc?  My bootcamp assistant mentions using a USB flash drive???

Yes you do have enough storage, you only need let's say 10GB to properly install Windows with a few (very small) programs. You'd be best of just going to a store and buying a Windows 7 install DVD (not an upgrade one!), or using one that you might have laying around at home. You can also purchase Windows 7 via the Microsoft online store and than burn it to a DVD. It is possible that installing from a USB-drive works, but I have not tried this yet.

  • RH8 After conversion, added space after conditional tag phrase

We just installed RoboHelp 8. After converting my 3 projects from RH7 to RH8, the system added spaces in between words of a condtional build phrase. That's great since it's much easier to see the words -- that was an improvement over version 7.
However, it's also adding a space after the conditional build phrases, which is incorrect. It adds a space before a comma, adds a space before a period if the conditional build phrase occurs at the end of the sentence, etc. But it doesn't look like it does this in every case...I'm not sure why it did this, but it only happened after the conversion to 8.
The generated help appears as in the example below. Note the space before the period in the first sentence and the space before the comma in the second sentence. It has done this on quite a few pages.
    Customer Definition Detail
This page allows you to add a new customer or to edit an existing customer . If you are adding a customer , you must complete the detail information and then save it.
Tried to upload the example of conditional build phrase, but it's not letting me.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. This would be a lot to manually repair, so I'm hoping someone knows of a way to fix this using a setting.

    Thanks for your posts.
After trying everything I could think of the only thing that resolved the issue was replacing any instance of back-to-back conditional text followed by any punctuation with two sentence exactly the same except for the conditional choice.
For example, the original sentence (color indicates conditional build tag):
For customersmembers, this field indicates transaction limits.
would be changed to these two sentences:
For customers, this field indicates transaction limits.
For members, this field indicates transaction limits.
I'll submit this as a RoboHelp 8 bug in the forums (if it hasn't already been submitted).

  • CRVS2010 beta 2 - header underline adding spaces

    Hello,
I'm noticing that headers that are 2 words and the second word is a number, there is a space/break in the underline
For example Address 1 instead of Address 1.
I reported this in beta 1 (see CRVS2010 beta - header underline adding spaces) and hoped that it would have been fixed.
I'm wondering if it is on the list of things to fix for the final release.
    Thank you.

I assume you are referring to the embedded designer's preview is breaking the underline betweeen the word and the number (ie: Address 1).  I am able to reproduce with the CR for VS 2010 Beta2.
I found that the WinForms and ASP.NET CR runtime viewers do not have this issue but the WPF viewer does have this issue.
I will log a bug for both issues.
As a potential workaround, instead of underlining the field, format the object (right-click the object and select Format Object), on the Border tab, set the Bottom line style to "Single".  This is not ideal but it may work for you.

  • UDf sample plz..adding spaces

    Hi experts,
i need UDf code for filling the target field with spaces...
    proxy to file
    e.g:
i am geeting 14 digit input field from proxy......
some times the data will be 4 digits...
    i/p 0.00 then o/p should be "0.00          " like this...
    adding spaces after the field
as i am using FCC on receiver side....
    plz help me out.

    Hi,
    int len = a.length();
    for(int i=0;i<14-len;i++){
    a=a+" ";
    return(a);
I think this is what you expect.
By varying the condition you can get the spaces howmuch ever you need.

  • Why does my Power MAC G4 keep restarting itself after I shut it down?

    Hi,
    Thanks for reading this.
Why does my Power MAC G4 keep restarting itself after I shut it down?
This JUST started happening only 4 days ago.
Most recent installation was Limewire, but I removed it to see if this problem would go away.
I have 3 internal drives (See drive types below) that all have OS 10 on them in order to be able to boot up from either drive in the event of trouble.
    However...
No matter WHICH drive I use as the start up drive... the computer STILL restarts itself after it is properly commanded to shut down.
Prior to the Limewire install... the ADOBE creative suite was installed.
There is a Lexmark X83 printer hooked to the computer, which, it seems doesn't matter if it is left on or off... the computer still restarts itself.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi, Tommy!
If you still have problems, trash the following three preference files, then shut down and do a PMU reset. (PMU reset procedure for the QS is the same as is shown at the link for the Gigabit Ethernet.)

  • IE6 Adding Space in Tables

I have a design that includes nested tables. The page appears
as it should in FireFox (ie. as it appears in DW8); but, in IE6
there is extra space being added. It looks like the space is being
added below the content in the table cells. I'm using CSS and I've
tried setting margins to zero and collapsing the borders of the
    tables, but nothing is working.
Can anyone suggest how to clear the added space in IE6?
    Thank you,
    Ron

As Osgood mentions can't really tell until your code is
    sighted... post a
    link.
Make sure you don't have any empty <p> or <br>
tags after the close of your
table or before the ending body tag.

  • Hi guys I deleted my extension"bitdefender antivirus"but when I switch on my mac safari open up itself asking to instal the extension above what can I do to avoid this pain in the behind? Thanks

hi guys I deleted my extension"bitdefender antivirus"but when I switch on my mac safari open up itself asking to instal the extension above what can I do to avoid this pain in the behind? Thanks

Uninstall "BitDefender" completely, not just the Safari extension.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

I am trying to turn Photo Stream on - on my Mac when I get to the space where you are supposed to click on the Photo Stream icon -- the icon is not highlighted and when I click on it nothing happens --- what should I do?

the space that I am referring is the "screen" that pops up after I go to Apple icon - select System Preferences - the iCloud screen pops up and you are supposed to be able to click on the Photo Stream icon to turn Photo Stream on.  Well, the icon "Photo Stream" is not highlighted and has no check box so that I can select it to get to the screen that will let me turn Photo Stream on.

  • Import photos without copying? I Have thousands of photos on a hard drive separate from my mac and i dont have enough space on my mac to copy them to. Any way to import without copying to the local hard drive?

Import photos without copying? I Have thousands of photos on a hard drive separate from my mac and i dont have enough space on my mac to copy them to. Any way to import without copying to the local hard drive?

Yes, but you might want to think carefully about it.
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing. The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
This is an attractive option for some users at face value, but it contains a significant number of issues that you might want to consider before making the decision to run a Referenced Library
    How to do it:
iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck the box at 'Copy items to the iPhoto Library'
Now when you import iPhoto makes an alias in the Library Package that points to the stored file. Note: iPhoto still creates a thumbnail of the image and it makes a Preview of edited photos inside the Library Package.
    Issues?
    1. You are responsible for file management. That's more work:
You must first move the files from your camera to the storage location before importing.
If you want to delete files then you must first trash them from iPhoto and then afterwards find them in your storage and trash them.
Thereafter, you cannot move the files on early versions of iPhoto at all, on iPhoto 08 and later you may move them on the same Volume or Disk. If you move them to a new volume or disk the aliases my break. If they are on an different volume and you move them the aliases will break.
    You cannot rename the files.
Migrating: moving to a new machine, moving the files to another disk are all a lot more complex.
    2. You gain no extra functionality from running a Referenced Library. Nothing. This is just storage. You still manage the files via iPhoto. You edit them with iPhoto or via iPhoto's External Editor setting, otherwise you're changes will not be available in iPhoto. You don't save  byte of storage space.
    3.  If you have the Library on one volume and the photos on another you if anything changes in the path to a file (Like if you upgrade your machine, move the files on the NAS or on to another one?) then the alias will break, and you'll have to repair it manually. For every photo in the Library. One at a time.
Why do you want to run a Referenced Library?
Because my photos won't fit on my HD?
You can run a Managed library from an external disk. Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
You're worried about accessing the files?
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
