Why does my Power MAC G4 keep restarting itself after I shut it down?
Hi,
Thanks for reading this.
Why does my Power MAC G4 keep restarting itself after I shut it down?
This JUST started happening only 4 days ago.
Most recent installation was Limewire, but I removed it to see if this problem would go away.
I have 3 internal drives (See drive types below) that all have OS 10 on them in order to be able to boot up from either drive in the event of trouble.
However...
No matter WHICH drive I use as the start up drive... the computer STILL restarts itself after it is properly commanded to shut down.
Prior to the Limewire install... the ADOBE creative suite was installed.
There is a Lexmark X83 printer hooked to the computer, which, it seems doesn't matter if it is left on or off... the computer still restarts itself.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi, Tommy!
If you still have problems, trash the following three preference files, then shut down and do a PMU reset. (PMU reset procedure for the QS is the same as is shown at the link for the Gigabit Ethernet.)
HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist
HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist

Satellite P300 keeps restarting itself after initial start up screen.
My Satellite P300 keeps restarting itself after the initial start up screen.
The initial start up screen with the F2 & F12 options at the bottom appears, the screen then goes black, then a cursor appears in the top left hand corner and flashes a couple of times. Then the laptop shuts down and restarts itself and goes through the same process over and over.
This is all with the power adaptor plugged in. If unplugged, it will go through the above mentioned process and shut itself down with no restart.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Can you please give an answer to C3POs question?
Have you made some hardware upgrades in the past (RAM, HDD)?
Have you changed anything? -
Mac mini keeps restarting itself....
Hi,
I've just bought a refurb mac mini. The problem is it keeps restarting itself every so often. I've read a post from about a month or so ago saying that it could be something to do with RAM. Can anyone confirm that? I was just wondering if there was anything I could try before having to take it back the the apple store.
Thanks x
Mac mini Mac OS X (10.4.8)There are a number of possible causes of random restarts, but RAM is certainly one of the more common ones.
Given that the unit has just been purchased, I would return it rather than try and effect a resolution yourself, particularly since many of the potential fixes involve opening the system up, and the common causes would indicate that the system had previously been worked on. -
My Power Mac G5 (4 x 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5) with an Apple 17" CRT monitor, an HP LaserJet 1200 Printer and an HP4570c scanner draws approximately 200 Watts of electrical power after entering the "Sleep" mode automatically, but only 41 Watts of electrical power if I put it to sleep manually.
I have tried changing the Energy Saver preferences in every way that I can think of, with no effect.
What am I doing wrong?Hmm, 159 Watt diff, that's interesting, can't picture Hard Drives using that much, can you disconnect one devie at a time to test it's not them?

Why does my 2010 MBP keep restarting itself after upgrading to Yosemite?
This problem actually started once I upgraded to Mavericks - my MacBook Pro will randomly restart itself every 30 seconds - 15 minutes or so. I don't really have a good estimate of the occurrence though since it is so random and there seems to be no rhyme or reason. The only thing I can say is that it pretty much always restarts if I am resizing windows. When I upgraded to Yosemite from Mavericks, it kept restarting itself but now it restarts twice every time! It's added an additional restart in the middle of the boot up screen. I reformatted the drive, reinstalled the original software and then reinstalled all the software upgrades and the problem persists. I know I should probably take it in to see a Genius as my best guess is that there seems to be an error with the graphics card, but I'm a college student on a very tight budget, so if there's anything I can do myself to fix this that would be great! Any help is appreciated! Here is the text from the last kernel panic:

Why does my i phone 4 keep switching itself off
hi can anyone help why does my phone keep switching itself off
Hi jodierigby,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. This article has steps you can take if your iPhone is unexpectedly powering off:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Cheers,

Bad or incompatible RAM is, more often then not, the cause of most Kernel Panics. It could also just need to be reset.
Here's the most used site for Resolving Kernel Panics. Please do all the steps in order, even if you don't think you need to do a certain step. This link just goes up to Snow Leopard but there are a lot of good tips in there.
Here is a great MacFixIt article.

Why does the iTunes mac logo keep appearing when my iPad is out of battery and I charge it?
My iPad 3rd generation with iOS 7.1 ran out of battery, so then I plugged it in the socket. After a couple of minutes, it showed me a 30-pin charger icon pointing to the iTunes logo with an arrow! I tryed connecting it to my computer but it gave me this message when I launched iTunes for Windows Vista. iPhone could not be recognized. Then, I thought the wire or something had a problem so I changed it, but the same thing happened! HELP ME!
That screen indicates an ipad in recovery mode and is directing you to connect to a computer as you have done.
Try another port on the computer, -

after a fresh install, Spotlight will need to reïndex the files on your internal disk — that happens each time a fresh installation takes place.
I see that you have OS X 10.9.2 installed. Are you planning on installing the 10.9.3 update?
Your installed version of Java is outdated — the most recent version can be downloaded from here. -
Why does iTunes on my iPhone keep rewinding songs after pausing?
If I pause iTunes on my iPhone by either removing my headphone jack or pressing pause, if I then restart after about an hour later, the music jumps backwards several songs that have just been played. The longer I leave it, the more songs it rewinds. I find this very frustrating !!
Make sure you're selecting the iPod in the left-hand column, and then clicking the Settings column. It should be the second line under "Options" .. I believe it reads "Only Update Checked Songs."

it keeps turning on and off but wont show my display screen at allHey , Thanks for your post! That sounds pretty frustrating, but we would like to help. First, we would like to gather a bit more information from you. Can you confirm you have an SM-G925A (Settings>About Device)? On that same page, can you provide us with your Baseband number? Has there been any physical or liquid damage? What happens when the phone is plugged in? When did this start happening? Let's start with a Soft Reset. This will restart your phone. You can do that by pressing and holding the volume down and power button for 7-10 seconds. Keep us posted on how that goes, Thanks, Les with Samsung Support -

Why does Airbook sometimes restart itself after shutting down?
My MacBook Air sometimes restarts itself after I shut it down. At first I thought I was carelessly choosing the wrong command, but now I'm clear -- it's the Airbook. Also -- I had thought this was unrelated, but now I'm not so sure -- it's been forgetting to start up automatically some mornings. And yesterday at 3:19 pm it informed me that it was getting ready to shut down, "as instructed" (the actual instruction in the Energy Saver is for midnight).

Sounds like a Broken Drive...
Most of the times this will be solved with a HardDrive Replacement
although,
you could try this
Restart your Mac and hold down the Command key and the R key (Command-R).
Keep holding these keys until the Apple icon appears.
This indicates that your Mac is starting up.
After the Recovery System is finished starting up,
you should see a desktop with an OS X menu bar and a "Mac OS X Utilities" window.
After you do this, select Disk Utility and run it.
On the next screen,
Select the hard drive in the left hand column,
the First Aid tab on the top, and click on Reparid Disk. (bottom left)
When that is done, click on Repair Permissions.
When that is done, quit Disk Utility and restart.
