Mac laptop terminal copy/paste?

I'm running Arch on a PowerBook G4 without X.org (for now), and I need to know how to select, copy, and paste some text, e.g. from w3m in vc/1 to nano in vc/2. The reason being I'd rather not have to type up this long xorg.conf section by hand, I'd rather copy and paste. Sorry, kinda new to doing things console-only.
BTW, I mention that I'm on a Mac laptop because the standard copy/paste commands that I found elsewhere don't work on it. I don't even have and Insert key.

Mac FB3b3 lost copy/paste !!!

It's the wierdest thing... I can suddenly no longer copy,
paste or cut text in any perspective in FB3, either with the Cmd
key shortcuts or the menu options. The odd thing is that when I

Have you tried simply dragging the file from one stick to the other? Do you know the format of the memory sticks (Macs can't write to those formatted as NTFS without the use of third-party software)?

my app runs cross-platform, and on the mac os x, copy/pasting is accomplished via ctrl+c/v, when the native os wants to use cmd-c/v. (ie in order to copy from a browser and paste into my java app, the user would have to press cmd-c to copy from the mac environment and then ctrl-v to paste into the java environment.)
i'd like to have copy/paste behave the way mac users are expecting (pressing cmd vice ctrl). at the moment, my app supports OS functions like cmd-w (close window), cmd-q (quit), and cmd-h (hide) via a few import classes from apple. they neglect to provide the same support for copy/pasting.
so. how can i init my java environment so that if a user presses the cmd key, java behaves as if they are pressing the ctrl key?

ok, tested it. seems that under metal and the L&F i'm using (which is based on metal as far as i know), pasting is accomplished via ctrl-v.
if i set the L&F to the system L&F while running in a mac os, pasting is accomplished via cmd-c (meta-c?).
so that's that.
i asked google for help with the shortcutKeyMask, and this turned up on an apple site:

Do not set menu item accelerators with an explicit javax.swing.KeyStroke specification. Modifier keys vary from platform to platform. Instead, use java.awt.Tookit.getMenuShortcutKeyMask to ask the system for the appropriate key rather than defining it yourself.

The default modifier key in Mac OS X is the Command key. There may be additional modifier keys like Shift, Option, or Control, but the Command key is the primary key that alerts an application that a command, not regular input follows. okay... but uh... i don't quite get it. seems that this Listing 2 solution might work, but a) this is for a menu and b) i'd like this to be a global setting if at all possible. my concern is when i use something like this:

Today I purchased a new Macbook pro and loaded my Lightroom 5 however it is asking for my serial number which I have misplaced. I am unable to trace my serial number anywhere. I have even checked my adobe membership to locate my serial number but it does not seem to have any record which is strange as I have been using this software for over a year now and the previous versions since 2009. OS X can natively read NTFS of Windows, but not write to it.
Windows can't read or write to HFS+ of OSX, and that's a good thing from a security standpoint.
Ideally if you share files between operating systems you should have a FAT/MSDOS formated USB key or hard drive. (exFAT external drive if any of your files are over 4GB in size) both these formats are universal for OS X or Windows.
If you install software into Windows and OS X to read each others formats, then you have to pay to update/upgrade it deal with headaches.
If you swtich between Windows and OS X a lot, don't need full hardware performance for Windows, you may consider installing virtual machine software like VMFusion or Parallels which can take a copy of your Windows in Bootcamp and place it into OS X as a file then run that copy of Windows in a window in OS X like so.
Advantage here is you run most of your light weight Windows programs like this at the same time as OS X.
Benefit is you can run just about any Windows or Linux version and OSX server editions (not client versions)
Bootcamp only allows Windows 7, that's it now.
You'll also be interested in two fre pieces of software, Carbon Copy Cloner and Winclone on macupdate.com.
CCC clones OS X partition and Winclone clones the Bootcamp partition. Valuable for you.

How do you copy & paste an address in a mail draft?
I've tried everything including cntrl C but nothing. Coming from Windows, Mac mail has a lot to be desired!

No, that's the way I've tried it & no luck. Again, the copy & paste works normally in all other apps BUT mail. It will not let me copy & paste an address from a previous incoming mail & then paste that address in a mail draft to send out.

Password protecting PDF from copy/paste, not secure in Mac "Preview"?

I created a book for someone and sent a PDF of it. I secured it with a password so it can be printed but not edited or copy/paste compatible. When I open the PDF on Acrobat on my PC, its locks me out as it should. I sent to friend and of course its the same way on Acrobat on his Mac. But when he opened it in "Preview" on the Mac, it lets him copy paste. He said he is using OSX Lion 10.7.4.
Why is Mac's viewer bypassing the security and how can I keep it from doing this?

A PDF consumer (viewer) is expected to honor any standard security restrictions that are in place, but there is no way to ensure that every one will. A different method that provides a strong form of security could be used, such as Certificate security or LiveCycle Rights Management (a type of DRM), but then non-Adobe viewers such as Preview wouldn't be able to open the document at all.

Most probably, you have a 'private'-folder = part of an AVCHD-structure on your root-level of that drive.
Put it back into its folder (or any folder) - done.
Don't rip AVCHD-folders apart!

Hey guys i have slight problem. My brother gave me a mac mini that he got from his friend and it was working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago... when i try to drag files, it wont let me. no error messages apper or anything, i just cant move the file. also, when i want to copy/paste words or files or anything, it doesnt let me... i wanted to restore the computer but then found out i needed the cds, which i dont have. so my real question is, what cd/dvd would i need to restore an old mac mini 1.25Ghz PPC G4 512Mb running OS X 10.5.7?

That old PPC Mini likely shipped with OSX 10.4 (Tiger), though possibly it shipped with 10.3 (Panther).
If you want to restore to 10.5 (Leopard) you'd need a full retail copy of Leopard.
I would first run Utilities > DiskUtility and verify your hard drive and repair permissions.
I'd also make sure that you have adequate free (available) space on the hard drive. At least 10% of the hard drive should be free space for OSX to be happy. If you have gotten warning messages that the hard drive is almost full, that might explain your problems.
If you have enough room on your hard drive, you might be able to improve your Leopard installation by downloading and re-installing the full "combo" update of Leopard, which is over 700 Megabytes. Obviously this won't be an option if your hard drive is almost full.

I recently updated Firefox and since then copy/paste does not work. It may actually be the paste that is failing as I think I may have glimpsed activity under the Edit when copying using the keyboard short cut [command C]. Help please. This is maddening.
