Mac mail font issue

Hi, I just started using Mac Mail. I have adjusted the font size in preferences, yet when I reply to a message, the font appears tiny. It says it is 12 point, so I don't what to increase it beyond that, but it looks more like 8 pt. on the screen. Is there any way to increase the size?

Mails sent in for example verdana 10 will appear in different fonts and sizes om the recepients outlook - mostly new times roman - the default font for outlook.
A 3rd party program - messagefont.com - tries to solve the problem.
It is not 100% reliable for me though.
I have therefore reverted to outlook - much to my annoiance.
Thanks much for that info.
The basic problem is that doing something in Mail > Preferences does not send mail in verdana 10 or anything else specific.  You have to set that in each outgoing message, and that is too burdensome for many users.  Messagefont is supposed to fix this problem, but I guess it is not perfect.

  • Mac/PC Font Issues in Flash -- Need Help Please

    Hi,
I have an fla file that I need to update but I am having the font issue that occurs between Mac & PCs.
I need to export a swf file from an fla file I have. If I send someone the fla file and the font file (Futura Book) could you please export it for me? Someone with a PC? My letters keep getting cut off and I've tried to play around with the spacing already.
    Thank you!!!!
    Allie

I don't know the answer to that one but you can use the Mouse Over and Click method I have described on this page....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Tricks/MouseOver.html
    It works in IE.
Its just a question of making up two different buttons with text for each link, taking a screenshot and cropping them and adding the JPEGs to your upload folder.
You can make up the buttons on an iWeb page and then delete them when you have taken the screenshots. I usually do this sort of thing in Keynote so that I can save them in case I need to modify them.

  • Mac mail server issue?

All of a sudden, from out of nowhere, my mac mail connection has gone dead. This is one of the error messages I receive:
"The SMTP server “smtp.mac.com” rejected the password for user _____."
I re-enter the correct password... then I get this:
"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account “________” or try again.
The server error encountered was: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 143 timed out."
Repeat process... on and on and on.
    Can anyone help?

  • Mac mail connection issues

Mac Mail has serious connection issues. It's a pain in the *** to try to configure it , and then once you think you have it, it fails. I've banged my head on it for a week and then went to try Postbox and Airmail who both connect and work smoothly. I would suggest you adopt their model of connecting .

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Mac mail sending issue

    Hi,
I'm using Mac Mail to send my emails. I have them set up using IMAP with GoDaddy hosting my emails.
For some reason Mac Mail is not saving / recording all sent emails, especially emails sent with attachments. The recipient is receiving them all so they've definitely been sent, but they're not appearing in the sent items / sent folders.

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • 10.7.2 Mail Font Issue

Happy New Year everyone. I'm experiencing a strange problem in Mail for Mac OS X Lion.
I've installed a font manager (FontExplorer X Pro 3.1 Build 6092) - a select few headers in Mail now show up as jumbled text.
I have no idea why this happens and while it does not impede productivity, it is quite the eye sore. (See attached image below for a visual reference.)
I've tried clearing the system and application font caches via Font Explorer with no success.
If there is anyone out there who has experienced this issue and has a solution I'd be gratefull to hear it.
I run Mac OS 10.7.2 on a early 2008 Mac Pro. There is 28GB of Ram available to the system, along with a 2TB hard ware raid and a 512GB SSD for the startup disk.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Apple Mail Font Issues with Outlook

Have apple fixed this issue with fonts changing and appearing differntly when you send emails to users on Microsoft Outlook. Most of the forums have message posts from 2011 but 2 years on you would think the issue would be fixed.
I have a whole team of computer illiterate staff and can't expect them to change the font format everytime they send an email. It looks so unprofessional sending emails out like this - next step is to switch to outlook for mac - any good feedback on this, I've heard if you have high volume emails working through gmail imap accounts that it just crashes all the time?
Any help or plugins would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Kurt,
Thank you for your response. I am fully aware of what you have just said, and I do follow this basic protocol. The 'gripe' is that it seems that when we setup our message font in preferences one is under the impression this is the font that will be sent out. I later discovered this is only my screen font, and when we compose an email this font (for instance Arial 12pt) is not tagged in the outgoing message. In-fact it is left blank, and the receivers mail will change it to a default such as times new roman. However this seems to create strange changes on the receivers end and sometimes the font can come out huge or varying, there is no consistency and the email looks ugly, As a business owner, my email is my letter head, and is a communicational face of my business.
The issue could be easily resolved with an option for an Apple Mail user to set up what font they want their out going message to be in and for Apple Mail to actually tag that font in the message. Without the 'user' having to each time manually choose this font.
I always use Arial 12pt for my out going message, but it's frustrating that I have to each time select my text and change the font and point size, (which means my screen message font has to be another font and size otherwise apple mail does not pick up the change). What I, and from what I can see many people, don't understand is most Mail Software (if not all), except Apple mail, don’t have this issue. And if I used a different mail app I can choose my out going font such as Arial 12pt, and the receiver will see the same font (obviously providing it's a websafe font), and I don't need to keep telling the programme to make it Arial every-time I compose a new message. This would save time.
I know that this ‘gripe’ is not only myself, and that there is a large number of people out there also annoyed by this, and many Apple uses choose not to use Apple mail simply because of this reason. Which is a shame, because Apple mail in my opinion is the best mail app out there.
I don't expect the programme to be perfect, but this is basic user experience and basic functionality, so why can't Apple correct it? All the amazing features in the world are worthless if the basics ‘user experience’ is not friendly.
I really really hope Apple does something about it, or at least develop a plugin that we can download to sort it out for those of us who want to use mail as I have described.
Attachment Tamer has sorted out the whole compatibility and friendliness of attachments, and I can set up how I want my attachments to work, I do it once and don't have to think about it again. I did have to pay for this function. But I should not have had to. this is not a feature I should have had to plugin, it should come standard with Mail, every other mail software does, so it is a user expectation... And the same goes for how we set up our fonts, in Rich Text, I should only need to set it up once and not think of it again, a general out going font should be a standard function.
As I said, I do ‘put up with it’ mostly because I’m an Apple fan, and In general hugely happy with the Apple products. But should someone have to ‘put up’ with something like this, when it is something so small that should really have been sorted out years ago in the early versions of Mail?
Sorry Kurt, I'm not really moaning at you directly, it's just that its a frustrating non-feature that I can see Apple is not even taking into consideration, and probably will never look at sort out. Why, is the question?

  • Possible Mac Mail Security Issue

A couple of times each week, I'm receiving returned e-mail messages that describe mail that I did not actually send.  The "undeliverable" addresses in the Mailer-Daemon notifications are unfamiliar and involve a different overseas address for each notification.
Every aspect of the computer runs fine.  in four years of being a devout Mac convert, I have not seen this type of problem until the past few weeks.  So from my standpoint, the false notifications are just a minor annoyance.  I've been deleting them.  But, I wonder if there could there be a security issue or some other problem?
    Thanks very much,
    Charley

I am experiencing the same thing and it has just started in the last few weeks also. I get the mailer-daemon messages telling me I have had my emails rejected to people that I don't even know nor do I have anything to do with the message being rejected.
I am concerned that my computer has somehow been compromised but do not know whether or not this is the case.
The issue is how do we try to stop this - I read elsewhere that the email password needs to be changed but I am not sure if this is actually going to do anything at all.
Anyone have a suggestion to stop this?
    Thanks

  • Mail Font Issue...

I am trying to get my outgoing business emails to be written completely in Verdana font.
Attached are 2 screenshots of my issue. In the first picture, you can see how the emails look when they leave my computer.....
Here is how my customers see the same letter... notice the font in the letter has changed from Verdana to Times. *But yet... in my signature... the font is correct... Verdana.*
Here is how the fonts are set in my preferences.
Why isn't the whole email showing up in Verdana on the recipients screen, and how can I fix it?

Why isn't the whole email showing up in Verdana on the recipients screen, and how can I fix it?
Because Mail > Preferences does not have any effect on what is seen by recipients at the other end. To make them see Verdana you need to use the font button in the New Message pane for each message (and also probably set your Preferences to something other than Verdana), or else use custom stationery.

  • Question! Mac Mail font problem

    Q. I'm getting small numbers instead of text when recieving mail. They also appear prefixing sender details. I have changed type style in preferences but doesn't help???

Try deleting the font 'Helvetica Fractions' and see if this sorts it for you. You will need to quit Mail and relaunch it after you delete the font.
Hopefully this is helpful or solved your problem. Consider rewarding some points!

  • Mac Mail/Comcast Issues

    Hello all,
So I just recently changed my email password with comcast, then updated all my info with my Mac and phone and iPad-now I can receive emails through my comcast account, but cannot send any. Comcast says it's Apple's fault...
The OS keeps telling my the username and password don't match up (but I know it's right) and my mac tells me the smtp is offline...
Does anyone have a quick and easy solution to this?
    Thank you!

  • Font issue with left sidebar in Mail

I'm having perhaps another/different font issue with Mail after updating to Snow Leopard.
I do have a Dell 24" LCD hooked up to my MBP. I've noticed the comments/links related to the font smoothing issues. I've played around with that with no noticeable change.
Check out the before & after pics. Anyone have thoughts?

  • Can't change font/column size in new .Mac Mail & 3-Pane option is a Pain!

My new .mac mail doesn't seem to allow changes in column width or in font size so it ends up cutting off the bottoms of some letters and cuts off all the entries in the 'From', 'Subject' and 'Date' columns. Also, it seems that because of this stubborn formatting, the "Action" button is not on the same line as the other buttons such as "Delete" or "Reply" etc. The "Action" button is on the next line and partially covers up the word "From" and the address of the first email in the column. Preferences doesn't seem to have anything for changing sizes or column widths.
Also, when I use the "3 Panes" option from the preferences in .mac mail I'm supposed to be able to compose a new email in the bottom pane but when I click on "New" to write a new email, it opens up a completely different window to compose the new email.
So can anyone help me with these two issues? I would really appreciate it. I liked the old email the way it was but I guess that's no longer an option. Thanks,
    Steve

  • Font size changes randomly inside mail received (sent with Mac Mail)

Hello! Here is a random issue on Mac Mail Leopard, seems few people already experimented the issue but no one found a correct solution:
When i send a mail to somebody, we can randomly notice a change of the font size (from 9px to 12px) in the received mail. This appears mostly in sentences after others sentences containing some bold text.
Note that I use the Calibri font, which is correctly set for the whole mail.
Appart from starting to write inside the signature to avoid any problem, i didn't find a way yet to fix that issue. But I imagine that if it would be a bug in the software, Apple would have fix it for decades ?..
So anyone could give an explanation? Thank u!

Thanks baltwo and Tom. I'll try sending as a PDF file as well.
Also, I did a test per Tom's instructions about reformatting text. First, I copied text from another email and then pasted it in a new message. I highlighted all the text where I wanted to increase the text size and left one paragraph unchanged.
I sent the email to the recipient that's having these issues where she replied back with my forwarded email.
All the text where I increased the point size shrunk and the text that I left alone was actually okay - Weird! I also noticed that the font style changed on their end. By the way, the recipient uses Microsoft Outlook as their email browser.
