Mac OS 9.1 and 2001 Office :mac

Greetings! I am in a NYC Public School and doing summer maintenance on the older computers, mostly gumdrop iMacs in all the lower grade classrooms, about 40 computers. On a majority of the machines, when I try to open up MS Word, from the 2001 Office;mac suite,, with no other applications running, i get the following dialoge box,"There is insufficient memory or disk space. Close extra windows and save your work." There is nothing else running at the time and no other windows open. Then I usually go the application, get info, memory, and increase the memory beyond the preferred stated limits and restart. This works for a while but then the same dialoge box returns. Help!!! I have been informed this has been happening through out the last few years.

Do you mean Office 2008 and 2011 or do you really want Office 2001? I think you mean 2011 since Office 2001 wouldn't make much sense.
The Office uninstaller should be able to identify there are two versions and allow you to delete either one or both.

This is the Microsoft forum site that parallels what Apple has:
    Office for Mac forums
It's not uncommon for MS employees who work with the Mac side of the business to help there. All in all a useful resource for Office:Mac

Yes.  I ran it successfully on Mountain Lion and had no problems when I upgraded to Mavericks.  Be sure to apply the latest software updates.

Office::2008 was drag & drop, but Office::2011 has an installer you need to run.

  • Why can't I delete or rename files in Word for Mac and other Office programs?

When I try to delete or rename an Office for Mac file, I can't.  How do I delete/rename Word for Mac and other Office for Mac files?

Had this problem for quite a while but found a work-a-round. I click anywhere in the text I want to delete and insert any character. I am then able to block and delete any text I want to. It's been working great.

  • HT2477 Are documentS created with Microsoft office for windows and Microsoft office for mac are compatible with each other

Are documents created with Microsoft office for windows and Microsoft office for mac are compatible with each other?

As with a lot of software, it depends on the version of Word, and what features the author used.
Technically, Office 2010 for Windows and 2011 for Mac are supposed to be feature compatible. As are Office 2007 for Windows, and 2008 for Mac.
However, if a person using Office 2010 / 2011 used a feature that only exists in that version and sends the file to someone using Office 2007 / 2008, they would very likely have trouble opening the file, or having it display as intended.

  • Hi I've just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion now Quarkxpress 6.5, Adobe creative suite CS2, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 professional and Microsoft Office 2004 will nolonger open. Can anyone please advise me what I can do to get these programs running.

Hi I've just upgraded my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Now my installed programs:- Quarkxpress 6.5 - Adobe creative suite CS2 - Adobe Acrobat 7.0 professional and Microsoft Office 2004 will not open - I get a banner saying not supported by power mac. Can anyone please help me I really need these programs for my work. Thank you!

    hi tuggerose
i think it is bad new for you. if it's any consilation i went through the same thing when i loaded mountain lion when it first came out. i think the problem is that mountain lion is a pure 64bit operating system and the software you have is 32bit. earlier os's were able to emulate 32bit but the new system does not. the answer is new software. i did it and it cost me a load of money and much angst so your not alone.

  • IMovie and Microsoft Office NOT WORKING! PLEASE HELP!

Just recently, out of nowhere, my iMovie and Microsoft Office stopped working; they won't turn on. I have Leopard 10.5, and they had been working on it since recently. Whenever I start iMovie, the "This program has quit unexpectedly" window comes up. Here's what I did. Firstly, I reported the problem to Apple and tried relaunching the program. That didn't work. Then, I deleted anything I had downloaded recently that may have affected it. Nothing. Next, I tried going into Library>Preferences and deleting all files with "iMovie" in the name. Nada. I then opened up disk utility and repaired disk permissions; yup, you guessed it, it didn't work. Finally, I archived and reinstalled Leopard, but it's still not working.
As for Microsoft Office, I have only reported the problem and deleted recent downloads. I haven't tried anything else (excluding the Leopard thing) to fix Office.
Please help ASAP! I need both of these applications for an upcoming project... and I may have to see a Mac Genius after this...
    This is my last hope!
    Thank you so much!
My AIM is tas121694 and email is [email protected]
    Thanks again,
    Todd

Well, that tells us that it's most likely something in your user account and not with iMovie or Office in general. If you need to get your videos edited right away and don't have time for troubleshooting, you can transfer them to the other account by copying them into the Users -> Shared folder. That would allow you to have access to them from the working account.
As to fixing the problem, you might try asking in the iMovie forum. It's possible that you have a corrupted project that iMovie keeps trying to open by default and that deleting that project might fix the problem. I'm not an iMovie user, though, so I'm not sure. Asking in the iMovie forum will probably get you more informed suggestions.
As to Office, what version is it, and do none of the applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage) launch, or is it just some and if so which one(s)?

  • Drag and Drop Office from Tiger?

Hi there, can i drag and drop Office for Mac from Applications on my SATA-USB enclosured Tiger-drive to Applications in Leopard???
Would that be 100% the same as installing it from the same Office-CD as i have used on Tiger??? In terms of 'registry' - i know Apple OS does not have something like that but i don't know how to put it here.

Which version of Office for Mac are you using?

  • SugarSync, Yosemite, and Microsoft Office

With SugarSync running, I cannot open a Word or Excel file from within those programs, i.e. File, Open... When I do that Word "stops responding" as soon as the Finder window opens. SugarSync assures me there is no problem with their program and Yosemite. Microsoft uninstalled and reinstalled Office but that didn't help either. If I open a Word file by double clicking it in finder, it opens fine, so I can at least work but cannot, for example, import a txt into an Excel spreadsheet.
This is happening on two computers, my new iMac 2012 and a MacBook Air.
I have updated Yosemite to 10.10.1.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

You need to replace those apps with non PowerPC apps that are written for the Intel x86 Macs.   The PowerPC switch over ware more than 7 years ago.  If your hardware is that old I would probably not upgrade to 10.10 as it can be sluggish on even new hardware and has no real new features.

  • My Iwork and my Office don't open PC Office documents!

Hello everyone! I've got a degree in computer science, but I'm new to mac. I've come from the pc.
I've got a extrange problem in my macbook.I've been surfing to the internet for a solution during 1 hour. Also I've phone apple care suport during 45 minutes and I still don't have the solution. I'm kind of desesperate.
The problem is that Iwork (and also Office for Mac) just don't open my PC Office files (any of them), not xls, doc, ppt... I can open them in the PC, not in the mac.
It just appears an "invalid file" error. The file never opens.
If my Mac it's not going to be able to open MS PC Office documents it's just going to be a nice paperweight, cause my job requieres those files. Got thousands of them, and I recieve daily.
To put all my PC office file to my macbook I used an external USB hard drive. I've read on the internet that sometimes the "doc" document gets corrupted when it's stored in the USB HD. I used it right (removing saftely), so I think that it's not this, but I've got nothing more... even apple support don't know nothing.
I like my notebook, but I've to solve this problem. If it's not solved I'll have to return again to €!$$?? windows and I will have lost a lot of money.
    Thanks everyone.

I've been looking into it and it seems problem is not only with .doc and .xls documents.
For some reason, many files of my folder "documents" (and also all the "sub"folders) are, in a way or other, corrupted.
I've tried 2 times to put all this information from windows (in win files are not corrupted, I've checked it) to my USB external HD and then I put them into my mac. During this process files become corrupted!
And it's so strange, because I've copied more files from my pc to my mac this way and seem they're working right. Anyway now I'm trying with diferent file systems and see what I get.
So it's not problem with pages o office mac, it's problem of the MAC OS X or my external hard drive.

  • Install XP and microsoft office or... install parallel and apples office ?

I am pretty close to pushing the purchase button in the macbook 2ghz 80Gb hard drive. I have been a windows user, and use Office in windows. Wondering the +/- of either installing XP pro (i have a licensed version) and installing microsoft office suite (i have a licensed version) and purchase parallel. Or should i just purchase Apples version of office. Is 80gb big enough to hold both OS's?

You can make the decision yourself. The MacBook will probably come with the Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive and you'll have a few weeks to try its features. If you're not satisifed then look into using Parallels. Or you can download the Mac Office Test Drive from <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/downloa d/office2004/office2004.xml&secid=4&ssid=1&flgnosysreq=True>.
    Hope this helps! bill
