Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and CS 2

I have a question regarding CS2 on Snow Leopard...
will CS2 work without any problems on this new OS?
I have OSX 10.5.8 and never had any problems.
have some of you already tested them together?
thank you

Have you read this?

  • Is Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard 32 or 64bit?

I'm coming from a PC background. Is the Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard a 32bit or 64bit OS? Does Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard have a memory limitation? For example, the 32bit Windows OS will only see up to 3GB of RAM. Does the Mac OS has something like that?

Mac OS X has no memory limit inherant to the operating system itself.
However, DVD Player, and Front Row are two applications within Mac OS X that are not 64 bit.
64 bit is not enabled by default, though if you add memory to a Mac, it will address all of it as long as the Mac's specs allow it.
A key sequence of the 6 and 4 key force the machine to start in 64 bit mode.
Some non-64 bit applications will unexpectedly quit in 64 bit mode.
Some can be forced to run in 64 bit or 32 bit mode via their Finder (think Windows Explorer) File menu -> Get Info window attribute after single clicking them in the Finder.
To learn more about 64 bit enabling on Macs, see this article:

  • Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard V Windows OS!

Hi i am sick of windows, but as i only just got this pc through a rental agreement with a local retailer, and i cant change it and get a Mac. I was wondering if Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard is able to be installed on my pc? i have a Toshiba P300 PSPCCA 1tb hdd, 4 gb ram, 512mb ATI Radeon Mobility HD, Intel core 2 duo T9950, with Windows Vista as the current OS. Am i able to format my hdd and install Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard? or not? hope i can cos i really am sick of windows!

Since you can't change your hardware your only option is to get an alternative operating system for it. Mac OS X only runs on Apple hardware, but you could try one of the many Linux distributions out there if you don't want to use Windows. They're free and can be installed side by side with Windoze. Ubuntu would be a good start: http://www.ubuntu.com/

PS: I would not use a Win-PC anymore, even if I get payed for it...

  • 21.5 Inch iMac Stuck on grey Loading screen (spinning grey loading circle)...Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

I installed Windows XP via bootcamp around 10months ago, around that time, i noticed that my Snow leopard OS had not been working, everytime i rebooted my Mac(starting in Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard) it would show a apple logo, then a loading 'bar' then the loading bar would disappear, then a grey spinning loading 'circle' would stay there, ive left it over night and it would still be spinning..
When i boot in windows XP, i can still see the Snow leopards files via bootcamp(looking at the the bootcamp drive) but i cant actually use snow leopard, and that was one of the reasons i bought a mac.
Ive tried many solutions but nothings happened i really nead help:(

You will need to start your computer with the original DVD that shipped with the system. Then launch disk utility to repair your hard drive.

  • HT6012 I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.  What do I do?

I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.   Also to compound the situation everytime I attempt to share to iDVD or iTunes, iMovie quits unexpectedly.    What do I do?

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

  • Installed Mac OS 10.6.2 Snow Leopard and OKI C5300n won't print

I updated my IMac to OS X.6.2 and could no longer print with the OKI c5300n. Here's what work for me after 6 hours of trial.
I did add Rosetta from the Optional Installs off the Snow Leopard Install CD.
I went to OKIDATA and downloaded and installed ftp://ftp2.okidata.com/pub/drivers/MacOSX6/OKIDPSUMX6MC.dmg
(X6 PS Driver Update Package v2.1)
I need to switch from manual to auto IP Address Set in the OKI Menu on my printer.
    Hit Enter
    Arrow down to "Network Menu"
    Hit Enter
Arrow Down to "IP Address Set"
    Hit Enter
    Error down to "Auto"
Hit Enter and "Auto" should stop blinking
Hit Back till you see "Network Menu"
    Hit Enter
Scroll to "IP Address" & Write Down this Address.
    Hit cancel.
On your Mac Select the Apple in the upper left of your screen.
    choose "System Preferences"
    double-click on "Print & Fax"
Right-click to "Reset printing system" this will delete all printers and documents pending.
    Click "+" to add printer
To get this right I did have to call the 24 hour support at OKIDATA... but Amen, it is all working now...
    Click
    "IP" Button
Protocol = Line PRinter Daemon - LPD
Address: the IP Address from your printer
    Queue: leave blank
Name: what ever name you want
    Location: not necessary
    Print Using: Generic PostScript Printer

I tried the ftp link. The server is closing the connection unless you supply a user name and password. It appears (at least for now) that you will have to start at http://okidata.com/mkt/html/nf/Drivers.html. Choose your model and supply your name and email address. The page says that this information is optional, but I could not get a download when I did not supply the information. I did not give them my information and try it.

  • Downgrading to Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard Issues

Hey there. I recently have bought a MacBook Pro with lion already on it. I wanted to play old mac games on it so I heard you could downgrade to snow leopard if you have the disk to install it. Will it work even if the lion is already installed on the computer (latest version of macbook). Also, I try to do it, since I have the disks, and it restarts my computer but doesnt start...It's just a blank grey screen that doesnt do anything. Please Help. Thanks

I repeat, you can't use any system older than the system your Mac ships with.
You can only do that if your Mac shipped with SL or earlier.

  • How to free tcp/ip port in Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

weeks ago i installed graboid on my imac and it's having trouble downloading files. this is what appears whenever i open graboid:

+The Graboid Download Manager needs a free tcp/ip port for its internal web service.+

+Some other software may be using the port or the download manager is already running.+

how do i free a port in snow leopard? i already allowed incoming connections from graboid in my security preferences but still it wouldn't work. help please. thanks

Do you use a router to connect to the internet? If so the port needs to be mapped to your local machine.

  • Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

    Is it Safe?
I use a MacBook Pro 15" 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running Mac OS X 10.5.8 with primary software being Adobe CS4
I have an OS X Snow Leopard upgrade DVD but yet to install due to known issues
We have recently purchased an upgrade to Adobe CS5
Is it Safe to upgrade to Snow Leopard now? & would i do this prior to installing Adobe CS5 upgrade?
    any assistance greatly appreciated

It's been running here for almost two years, but without the Adobe stuff. If you get SL, install it first then update the Adobe stuff.

  • Mac OS X v10.5.6 Leopard

I want to buy and install the iLife'09, but read that I need to upgrade to Mac OS X v10.5.6 Leopard. When I did a search on the Apple store site, all that came up is Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Family Pack (?) I don't think I can go directly from Tiger to Snow Leopard, so what are my options? Also, I see that some are having problems with Leopard. Have these been ironed out? I only want to upgrade so I can get the new iMovie in iLIfe'09. Is it worth the trouble?

I don't think I can go directly from Tiger to Snow Leopard
You can, except your computer (G5) won't run Snow Leopard (requires Intel Mac).
For Leopard, try calling Apple Support (not Sales). It used to be that when Leopard first came out you could still get Tiger through Support, not Sales. Maybe the same applies to Leopard.
Also, I see that some are having problems with Leopard. Have these been ironed out?
A somewhat sweeping statement. What issues specifically?
    Is it worth the trouble?
Ah, as a Tiger user you got me on that one.

  • I need to update my operating system from 10.5.8 to 10.6, I believe its the one before snow leopard and is just called leopard.

i need to update my operating system from 10.5.8 to 10.6 on my mac mini, I believe its the one before snow leopard and is just called leopard.

You seem to have your OS's confused.   Your profile says 10.6 but you are asking to update from 10.5.8.
10.5.8 is Leopard.   It is also the highest level of Leopard you can achieve.
10.6.(x) is Snow Leopard.   And 10.6.8 is the highest level you can achieve.
If you have 10.6 then all you will need to do is download and apply the combo updater.
If you have 10.5.8, then you will need to review the machine ... Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -Read the Technical Specifications
Subject the machine will take it, you will then need to buy Snow Leopard from your National on-line Apple store.
Before you start upgrading, back up your files.   If you are unsure how best to do this, the following link is hugely informative.   Most commonly used backup methods: Apple Support Communities
Once you have upgraded to Snow Leopard, your upgrade will take you to 10.6.3 and you then will need to apply the Combo updater.  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
and follow with software updates to pick up the most recent security and iTunes updates.
This will give you the best and highest level includine the App Store.
    Good luck.

  • Using v10.5.8 Where can I get v10.6 Snow Leopard?

I'm currently using Mac OSX 10.5.8 and want to upgrdae to Mountain Lion but need Snow leopard first.
Can anyone tell me where I can get Snow leopard from?

Before you buy anything, first make sure your Mac is compatible.
Minimum specs for Snow Leopard.  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -          Read the Technical Specifications
Once you've upgraded you will need to apply the Combo updater for Snow Leopard.          Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
Remember to repair permissions both before and after each upgrade /update
You can no longer buy Snow Leopard from Apple retail, only as follows.  If you are in North America ...
Buying Snow leopard from Apple.        Last I read, you must call them (1-800-MY-APPLE). It is $29 plus tax for family pack and $19 plus tax for a single.
Based in Europe or otherwise call your National Apple Helpline … http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
You should also check the minimum specs for Mountain Lion. Apple - OS X Mountain Lion          Read the technical specifications.
