Mac Trade in value

I have a Mac desktop that I purchased in 2007.  Can I use the Mac as trade-in-value towards a new MacBook?

No, you'll need to sell it somewhere like Ebay.

  • Trade-in Value of iBook G4 (White)

    Hi,
I would like to know what's the trade-in value for my iBook G4 (color: White) Mac OS X Version 10.4.10? And does anyone know a good second hand buyer for my iBook? I am thinking of buying a new MacBook soon.
    Thank you!

This is the discussion area for the original iBook G3 (non-white) clamshell.
There is no "trade-in" value that one can point to. You will need to check eBay, Craig's list, etc. to see what they are selling for.

We have on all macs the same system, os 10.8.3, cs6 and UTC4. And of course we`re using exactly the same font....

I believe the first thing to do is to update to 16.0.5.

  • Trade-in Value help?

    Hello,
First of all I am a LONG time HP user and with the experience I have had so far I would like to stay that way although recently it does seem very hard to navigate hp's website for sales tech support etc... none of them are linked together so if you go to sales and ask about a trade-in value they won't know and they won't know where you should go and ask to find that how. So I have owned say 4 hp laptops in the past 8 yrs or less the most recent being this HP Envy m6-1105dx with the AMD A-10 quadcore 8GB ram ATI Radeon 7660G etc etc etc. Well with all the new computer games I deff need to upgrade to something alot more powerful don't get me wrong this puppy is still a beast! I need something along the lines of an i7 quad w/ Nvidia so I wanted to see how much I could get for this laptop on trade if possible if its a total rip off waste of time then I will be kind of upset because I know its still worth a couple hun, its in great condition has all the bell's and whistles backlight keyboard etc. So I did some how find a trade-in section here on HP but its way way to out dated from what I saw. So could someone please help me get in contact wih an actual human reply? Thanks everyone! Take care and G-Bless!

OK I tried to run it for your laptop and you are right it does not have the option to include your specs. I ran it as best I could and generated an offer of $45. It appears it is not designed for a single consumer unit but for businesses that have lots of units around to trade in. I honestly do not think HP has a program to accept single unit trade-ins.
FYI, the last couple complete "as new" condition laptops like yours that sold on ebay were just under $300:

  • Trade In value online vs in store

    Hello All,
Wonder how the trade in process works.  I actually know how it works but wondering if I Know how much I would get.  I have looked at the trade in value online.  Will this dollar amount be the same as in store or can it be different?

    Good afternoon iliketoshop,
Thank you for posting your question to the forum!
Our Trade-in program can be a great way to get more out of your older electronics.  To my knowledge, the trade-in values that are displayed online are considered an estimate, so there is a chance they could differ once you go into a Best Buy store and an associate looks over the product.  If you are interested in trading in a products, then I would encourage you to go into a Best Buy store when you have time and checking.  You do not necessarily have to accept the trade-in based on the value presented; however, if you do thing the value is fair, then we can help process it for you right then and there.

I am currently playing through The Evil Within and am about 75% done. I was hoping to trade it in next week and apply it to a preorder, but it looks like no trade value is listed. I see borderlands the pre-sequel which came out this week is listed, but not The Evil Within.

  • Publish error - error determining the .Mac publish configuration values

I have been unable to publish a website refresh for the past 2 weeks (not since the first time I tried). When I attempt to publish, it hangs at the "preparing to publish" window and then gives the error message "There was an error determining the .Mac publish configuration values. Please try again in a few minutes." It does not then release this error window to close until it pops open another window telling me how many days I have left on my trial .mac account. It has the correct number of days so I assume that it is communicating with the .mac server at some level. My internet connection is via satellite. This is my only option as I am shipboard. Update: I was able to able to connect via cable recently and, much to my surprise (and frustration), everything posted fine. I have the most recent updates for all software including iWeb running on a MacBook 2GHz, 2GB ram and 28GB free harddisk(iWeb 1.1.2 and OS X 10.4.8 build 8L2127 ). My internet connectivity is fine for other applications and for other aspects of iWeb. The primary reason I purchased the MacBook was to use the iWeb and its publishing capability. I note from other threads that this is an established problem with iWeb and satellite internet connections. Has there been any reliable fix established for this problem? The last thread I could find was last summer (and nothing from Apple), seemingly enough time for Apple (or the creative members of AppleNation) to address it. Given the high cost and sporadic reliability of shipboard internet, I'm hoping to use .mac to host site because of the incremental update capability. If there hasn't been a reliable fix determined, can anyone recommend a hosting site/method that does work reliably with iWeb and a satellite internet connection. I'm completely in the dark how this would work. This is my first website experience.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I already sent out the .mac website in my Christmas letter so I'm fairly commited (but could recover, if unworkable)
    Thanks mucho!
MacBook 2GHz, 2GB   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   shipboard satellite internet connection

Now that would be cool...if we could figure out how to tell iWeb to be a little more patient with network latency! From all the reports here, it seems that if anything, iWeb has gotten more stringent in its network latency tolerance over the various little updates.
I personally use .Mac for my iWeb hosting right now... But you are right... if you could find some alternate place to host your iWeb pages, then you can use any FTP program to do the uploading.... and maybe be more successful from the shipboard internet access.
You might take a look at some of the free webhosts available... http://www.free-webhosts.com/ I have had pretty good experience with http://www.hostfreeweb.com/.

  • Publish Error: .Mac Publish Configuration Values

Ever since the update to OS X 10.4.7, I have been unable to successfully publish any changes to an existing iWeb site. Whenever I try to publish I get a dialog box with the following:
    Publish Error
There was an error determining the .Mac publish configuration values. Please try again in a few minutes.
No matter how many times I attempt to re-try the Publish, I get the same message. I have checked the configuration of my .Mac preferences and everything looks fine (I am able to sync with .Mac without any problems).
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    - John
    20" iMac G5, 2GHz, 2GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iWeb 1.1.1

OK... here's an update. After successfully getting iWeb to publish using another WiFi network (as opposed to my home satellite internet connection), I decided to see if I could force iWeb to get its act together and complete a publish at home.
I WAS SUCCESSFULL! At least partly....
Here's what I did. Follow these steps at your own risk:
    (1) With iWeb closed-down, I went to the location of the Domain file that stores all of the iWeb files and data (found in your Home folder under Library/Application Support/iWeb)
    (2) Copied the file as a safety backup
    (3) Right-clicked (or <CTRL>-clicked for single-button mouse users) and selected the "Show Package Contents" option
    (4) In the resulting window, I highlighted and deleted the following items:
    - The "cached_resources" folder
    - assets.xxx.plist (where xxx is your .Mac username)
    - deletedComments.xxx.plist (same explanation for xxx as above)
    - ServerCachedResources.plist
    - sharedassets.plist
    (5) I then re-launched iWeb and triggered a "Publish All to .Mac" AND IT WORKED!!! Without a hitch!
Once the publish completed, I tried making a small text edit to a single page and then re-publishing.... but then I got the "Can't publish xxx file, try again" error. It appears that, over a satellite internet connection at least, iWeb is unable to overwrite a file that already exists on .Mac successfully without performing all of the above steps.
So... I went back in and repeated the same steps as above. Unfortunately, that resets iWeb into thinking that everything has been successfully published, so in order to get my small text change up, I had to "Publish All to .Mac" again... a bit tedious to have to upload the WHOLE site just to get one small change posted... but better than having to FTP files separately!
So... Apple... if you're listening, it seems that there is definitely an issue with iWeb publishing to .Mac over a high-latency network connection. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!! I am reading that iWeb 2.0 is already in the works... with lots of enhancements, etc. I sure hope that PUBLISHING is one of them!
Hope this information helps someone else out there. Just be careful... I'm not happy having to mess around in the innerworkings of iWeb's files... and I'm not sure what the long range ramifications could be. Proceed at your own risk!

  • Bonus Trade-In Values for Games and Consoles

I saw the bonus values on Saturday but went to trade in my games on Sunday, the bonus offers expired. Does anyone know how often these bonus offers occur? Is it every couple of weeks? The bonus trade in was for 50% extra, the customer service rep said there was also 100% bonus offers but wasnt sure how often they occured. I also tried to sell my xbox 360 and ps3 but she also mentioned there will be a bonus on those as well.

I can't say how often trade bonuses occur. Sometimes the bonuses could occur for consecutive weeks or have a number of weeks in between occurrences. These bonuses start on Sunday and last for the week til Saturday.
Since the time until the next trade-in bonus is unknown, it may be possible for the trade-in values to decrease between now and later.
First, I suggest to sign up for Best Buy's Gamer's Club (the free one) if you haven't already. That way you can get more points towards a reward certificate from video game related trade-ins. 250 points can get you 5 dollars off the subtotal of a purchase.
Second, here is a disclaimer on how much to expect with bonuses. Do not assume that the base trade-in value you see during a normal week will be the same during a bonus week. MOST games tend to get their base value cut. Most of the time with games that got their value cut, you will get the same or slightly more value during a bonus week than you would a normal week. However, it may not be the same case for members of Gamer's Club Unlocked. Also remember that the points you get for trade-ins are based off the base trade-in value and not the total with bonuses.

  • Trade in values - "fair" condition missing - just "good" or "poor"

I noticed this morning online for the electronics trade-in program that the "fair" condition is no longer an option. Just "good" or "poor" (or non-functioning.) Seems to be the case for everything, not just one particular item.
The "good" description does sound a bit more liberal - it now allows a few scratches. My experience with trading items in the past was that they had to be essentially perfect to get the "good" value. Typical used products would fall into the "fair" category, which is reasonable, but that is missing now. Is this a glitch on your site, an experiment, or an official change in the rating system?
If this is a permanent change, have the store associates been briefed/trained on it? My concern is that they seem to be fairly stringent about the "good" rating, and now that "fair" is missing, they will default to "poor." Since the "poor" value is about half of "good," that is a pretty big difference, and there is no longer a middle ground.
Is there any official position on whether "good" will now have a slightly greater allowance for used condition? (And if so, are the employees aware of it?)

    Hello Scooter13,
I'm happy to read that you have an interest in our Trade-In program. You ask some pretty great questions!
I consulted my available resources and we're not aware of any changes to our Trade-In program, certainly nothing like what you describe. I will look into the situation in more depth and as soon as I have more information for you, I'll let you know. I apologize for any inconvenience in the interim.
I'm grateful that your brought your concerns to my attention.

  • 802.11 MAC counters high values

    Hi,
I have a WLC 2106 with 3 APs.  Everything works and users can connect, but the throughput seem to be lower than it should (it is around 8Mbps and should be around 30-50Mbps).  And all speed and duplex has been accounted for.
I need help trying to understand the stats that I see for the 802.11 MAC counters I under the Wireless APs.on the controller.
That screenshot is attached.  I see high numbers for the following areas:
    - Tx Failed Count
    - RTS Failure Count
    - FCS Error Count
Can someone explain what these mean and what could cause this?  Maybe these are normal and not a concern.
And if these values could result in low throughput and higher than it should latency?
    Thank you very much!

    any ideas please?
