Macbook Air blown speaker

I bought a Macbook Air 13 inch recently, the best one in store, costing £1,349.00.
When I took it home and got a few songs from my iCloud account on iTunes, I noticed a deffinate crackle coming from the left speaker.
I took the macbook back to the Apple Store and they replaced it, no questions asked.
When I got home, I was heartbroken when the problem had simply moved to the right hand side of the Macbook Air.
So, upon returning to the Apple store the very next day, the particular genious I saw said he couldn't hear it. They took it for a couple of days, and I received a call on the Friday (took it in on a Wednesday) saying to pick it up. However, they said no one could hear a problem.
The thing is, I think they either didn't test it or simply refused there is a problem, like the iPad 2.
So, I'm seeking your advice.
Should I take it back and try one more time, and if they don't do anything about it put up with it. Or should I get my money back, then immideatly walk in and back in so to speak, and buy a new one..
I'm annoyed because, the laptop cost short of one and a half thousand pounds, and I bought the extended Apple Care.
Should I offer to pay to have them replace the speaker if it's so difficult for them to give me a new unit.
Thanks for your advice and time.
Jack Smith

I would bring it back.  Try to isolate the problem by placing the balance only to the left speaker, then only to the right, which should demonstrate the crackle.
Also, try to use test tones (google "test tones" for some samles)

  • Macbook Air 2012 SPEAKER LEVEL 11" Vs. 13"

I had an 2010 11" and the speaker level was too low for anything. Just got the 13" 2012 and the speaker audio level is very decent and usable. My question is DOES THE 2012 11" have the speakers as the 13" macbook air? I am thinking of getting the 11" instead of the 13" but the only thing holding me is this!

Question from a long time ago - but as I just returned from checking out 11" and 13" Airs (2013 models) in an Apple shop, I thought that I should note that the speakers on the 13" seemed much louder than on the 11".

  • Macbook Air 11" Speaker crackle

    Hi guys,
Are any of you having issues with speaker buzz at certain frequencies/volumes and certain songs. I'm having this issue with my right speaker but I'm not 100% if it is the speaker or the keys rattling. I find the function keys (top row) are quite crackly and may be contributing to this.
I've only had my MBA for two days and I was worried about this issue, am I the only one?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Hallo v66jack!
HA, but You know, I bought MacBook Pro, 13`3 in February as well and I gave it back after two weeks !!! The screen resolution is a JOKE!! 1280x800 I had in my white Macbook from 2007 !!!!!!!!!
I was waiting for retina in Macbooks Pro!!!! Why did they not make it?!!! I would even pay 2000 eur.
Thats why I bought Air .. resolution is better and screen is better...and now? I dont know what to do. The problem is that I am professional musician, who likes to hear some music all the time. I know MBA is not a professional audio player  , but it should not make this strange noise as we said!!!! Not this class device! It is so embarrassing!!!!!! The problem appears even if I speak with friends on Skype!!!
It is a real scandal, I thought they are pioneers but now I see apple is getting down slowly...
I will go to the shop and tell them. But what can they do?? NOTHING. This is the letter I wrote and the answer I received :
    Dear Letec Friends,
My name is Daniel Brylewski. After 5 years I just bought a second Mac, new MacBook Air 13,3 128 gb, on 26 th of July at your Store.
After two weeks, I see, that there is a problem with sound.
The thing is more complicated, because as I have made an analysis, the spakers are ok, but BECAUSE OF VIBRATION OF THE KEYBOARD , there is a terrible buzzing ( little addictional noise ) , which makes me really nervous and unhappy.
What shall I do now? Have You heard about some of this problems already?
When I put my hand on the keyboard , I can even feel , how it vibrates. When I press a little bit, it stops.
Problem appears even at volume about 70 % !!!
I am professional musician and I always hear some music at my macbook. Of course I know it is not professional audio device to play music on , but.. I think it is not right to have such a problem with computer that costs 1300 francs?!
What can You advise me? Because I can not imagine having this problem all the time.
I send You an example, Bartok Piano Concerto nr 2, part I.
Could You please hear it at your MacBook Air 13`   from the shop and tell me how it reacts??
the problem appears here from 0:07 and later ( from 2:54)
    all the best
    Daniel
    Answer:
    Dear Mr Brylewski
Thank you for your mail and for your analysis. But for us, it is not possible to solve the problem unless we have your device here in our store.
So you have to leave you're MacBook Air for two or three workdays in our store. In this time, we search the reason of the addictional noise and solve the problem.
    Best regards
So, it looks like they even dont know about problem that exists sionce years!!!
    It is really tragic!

  • Hi everybody, my Macbook air mid 2012 MD 231 suddenly shut down then i can not turn it on. I heard a sound like a fuse is blown or something like that. Did any system break or burnt? I did not charge at that moment. Plz help

my Macbook air mid 2012 suddenly turn off after a strange sound (like the sound òf a fuse has blown or something like that) and I also feel a burnt smell too while i am watching a film on the internet and did not charge the laptop at this moment. The sound was from the left of it, and now just a dark screen , even I tried charging it (still has green light at the charge tool). I bought it on 13st April 2013, not often use.
I love apple and i am so sad that a new product which i seldom use could be break so easily and outstanding. It's so late in my country now but i am too disappoint about the trouble so i am writing with hope of supporting from Apple and the community.
    Please help , thank bro

You will have to take it to an Apple Store for repair.

I am unable to see the airplay icon on my macbook air, iphone or iPad which would enable me to use my Bose speaker through airplay. I set this up in the UK but have taken my macbook and bose speaker travelling with through Thailand. Ive wifi in my room and am able to access the internet on my laptop, Ive also been able to through the Bose Soundlink air wifi set application connect the bose speaker to the Wifi too.
I am only able to play my itunes through my macbook speakers and cannot find the airplay button which should be next to the volume slide once turned down to less than 1/3 of the volume..

Thanks for your help.  Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV.  I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air.  Thanks again.

  • Macbook air speaker not working

I recently discovered that the right speaker to my Macbook Air isn't working... I've tried:
checking sliders in Sound System Preference
    checking MIDI Utility
    zapping the PRAM
    resetting all prefs (using Onyx)
removing the bottom to look for a loose connection
Nothing's worked - anybody got any clever ideas how I might fix this (and, no - I don't have extended AppleCare). Thanks!

there is no sound on my macbook air. I have checked the volume and mute controls and the internal speaker are selected.  any one any ideas please.

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
    1. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

  • Can't pair macbook air with muse mini blue tooth speaker?

I am trying to pair up my new Muse Mini blue tooth speaker and my MacBook Air  computer wont even recognize it. I am able to pair it to my iphone5 and it works wonderful. I would appreciate any assistance solving this. Thanks Jim

Hi any one looking at this problem. I kept reading posts and found one that said to make sure if I had paired the muse mini to another device I should turn the other device blue tooth off. I did and bingo it paired to the Mac Air. Thanks all.
    Hope this helps others.

  • My new Macbook Air doesn't pair with my bluetooth speaker (Jambox or Big Blue).  Why?

I've tried two different bluetooth speakers (Jambox abd Big Blue) and both don't pair with my MacBook Air.  Anyone have the same problems?

For those interested, i managed to get the Big Blue speaker to pair with my MBA.  I thought I had tried this, but i went to the bluetooth icon and chose Set Up Bluetooth Device.  It recognized the speaker and paired.  Prior to that I was trying the Browse Device option, but that didn't work.  Still nothing on the Jambox though.

  • Is it possible to add speaker headphones to a macbook air?

I have a MacBook Air   OSX 10.7.5   Is it possible to install speaker headphones? I only want the headphones for using Rosetta Stone programs not gaming.
Thank you for any help  you can offer.

If an older Air out of warranty, yes, however, only Apple sells genuine Apple batteries.   Aftermarket batteries have many issues I wont list.
It depends on your skills, ifixit.com has many videos on doing things yourself.    While I consider changing a battery incredibly easy, its a "hard" skill for some.
So your question is subjective to be certain.
IS is replaceable? yes, its a consumable and meant to be replaced.

  • My iPad won't connect to my iPad mini.  The speaker works fine on my MacBook Air.  Help!

    Help!
I've been trying to get my Sony SRS-BT5 bluetooth speaker to connect to my iPad mini and the iPad won't recognize it.  It doesn't show up on the list of devices when bluetooth is searching.  I've tried restarting both devices dozens of times.  I've tried it normally, when they are charging, and when they are fully charged.  I've tried it with the NFC turned on and turned off.  I've searched Sony's site and can't find any troubleshooting information.  Although, because the speaker works just fine with my MacBook Air, I think it's a problem with my iPad.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Although it might not help, it would not hurt to reset the iPad by holding the home and power keys down until the Apple logo appears (15-20 sec).

  • Pairing Macbook Air with Bluetooth Speaker

My sony SRS X5 (black) is pairing with my macbook air, it says "connected" then immediately switched to "not connected". The speaker connects to my phone no problem, and i have tried all other troubleshooting i know of. Help?

When it comes to connecting bluetooth, you can never really know whats going on. I have also had lots of trouble in the past with bluetoothing apple products. what i would do is completely restart both products and try again
