Macbook pro menu bar date

Dumb question for the day.  Ready?  Is there any way to change the date on my menu bar so that the day/date reads before the month (e.g., 1 Feb instead of Feb 1)?  Please help.  Thanks!  :-)
Dave

Hmmm... tried it myself - it works with the date that appears when you click on date in Menu bar, but doesn't change the date ON the Menu bar.
However, the date on my Menu bar is 1 Feb, not Feb 1, which gave me a clue.
Go to System preferences > Language & region > select region, choose Europe then United Kingdom.  Now your date in the Menu bar will be 1 Feb.
However, this may change your other dates to UK format (today, for example being 01/02/2014 as oposed to 02/01/2014 as is normally written in US).
This is the best solution I could come up with!

  • HT201335 i don't see the airplay icon on my macbook pro menu bar. I'm running OSX 10.7.5. What's up?

I have a late 2011 machine. I keep the display icon in the menu bar but I can't find anything that will get the airplay icon to show. I'm tyring to connect to my Apply TV, which is on.
I do have Air Display on the machine, not sure if that's messing it up.

    I'm running OSX 10.7.5.
    That's what's up.
AirPlay mirroring requires OS X 10.8. Buy Mountain Lion in the App Store.

  • Menu bar date and time is flashing and spotlight doesn't work

Help! My menu bar date and time in top right corner suddenly started flashing and Spotlight doesn't seem to work. It would normally appear just below the date and time. Is this a known issue? 10.4.7 on a 1 GHz G4 (eMac).
Any ideas - I tried restarting with no difference.

Create a new account, name it "test" and see how your Finder and Spotlight work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
Let us know and we'll troubleshoot this further.

Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and transferred data from my MacBook via Ethernet cable. I did not consolidate my accounts and kept using my MacBook. Can I update the data transfer now using Ethernet and can I consolidate my accounts?

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and transferred data from my MacBook using Migration Assistant via Ethernet cable.  I was confused about consolidating my accounts, so I continued to use my old MacBook.  Can I now update the data transfer using the same process and begin using my new MacBook Pro exclusively?  How do I consolidate my existing accounts?
    Thank you.

Of course. It does everything it did before Yosemite. You just won't be able to send or receive SMS messages with it.

  • I have a new Macbook Pro. All data from prior Mac was migrated to new Mac. If I run Time Machine and "inherit" the old backups will TM take up where I left off, or delete and overwrite the current data?

I have a new Macbook Pro. All data from prior Mac was migrated to the new Mac. I want to continue Time Machine on the new Mac and retain the history. An option is to "inherit" the old Time Machine. I want to make sure this does not errase the current data, but creates a current backup.

  • Mag Safe power cord sparks when connected or disconnected--whereupon the MacBook Pro 13'' dumps date and time, and all passwords, plus any/all unsaved information.

I purchased my MacBook Pro 13" from the Apple Store in Tucson, AZ, in mid-January. Since then, every time the Mag-Safe cord is jostled, not even disconnected, sparks fly from the power terminal on the computer, the computer shuts down, and dumps its passwords, as well as the date and time.
Any work in progress is also lost.
I work overseas, and Apple's advice was to give them my credit card number, await shipment of a new power supply and cord, and then, when I return the old power supply and cord, i'd receive a credit. That won't work, as packages from the US to my location take weeks if they arrive at all. There is no Apple Store within a reasonable distance. Or, Apple suggests, when I'm home on leave in mid-June, I should bring the computer to the Apple Store for repair--I have only days in which to do that, but I suppose I'll need to try. My concern is that I'll need to return overseas without my computer and won't be able to retrieve it for months, until my next leave.
This issue shows up elsewhere online. Is there a short in the power terminal in the computer, or on the Mag-Safe power cord, or within the computer itself? It's a known issue, thus I wonder why it hasn't been fixed.

  • Macbook Pro's time/date and internet preferences reset at battery death.

I have a late 2009 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Since a month ago, whenever I'm not able to get to my charger in time and my battery dies and I reboot it, the time and date settings are set back to December 31, 2000 7.00 pm. I have to reenter my internet and wifi information to connect to the web. No files are lost, but it is still an annoying problem to have to deal with every time my battery dies. This usually happens if I am not able to plug in the charger and turn it back on within about 5 minutes. Is this a common problem? Is anyone else suffering this?
Any suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated and loved.
    Thank you.
    ~Incho

This is common only when the battery in question is so old and tired that it lacks enough oomph even to preserve the date and time after the machine shuts down. You probably need a new battery, and at least until you get one, you need to avoid being in a situation where you can't plug into AC as soon as the low-battery warning appears. Or perhaps your battery is so far gone that the warning never appears, in which case you need a new battery even sooner.
What does System Profiler > Power say about the condition, cycle count, and full charge capacity of your battery, and is your MBP a 13", 15" or 17" model?

  • Menu bar date and time format in Lion

Is there a way to change the formatting of the date and time shown in the menu bar in Lion? I've been googling for a while, but can't find a solution. At the moment the time has a very unusual format of <hh:mm.ss>. Note the '.' before seconds. What I want to achieve is to change that dot to a colon as it normally is (and was in Leopard and earlier, don't know about Snow Leopard), ie. <hh:mm:ss>. I've checked the date and time formats in system settings several times, but those have no effect on the menu bar. When I set the clock to display an analogue icon and click on it, the date and time in the popup menu are shown correctly using the full format.

Well ofcourse I am. And no, I am not using a third party utility. This functionality has been available in OSX for ages.
    I never noticed that option!
It works ok for me (with a colon, not a dot).
Is it possible you have a dead pixel where the top dot of the colon should be?

  • Macbook Pro- time and date changes to random?

My 2011 Macbook Pro's battery died. I plugged it in, and it turned back on. After starting up, I got a message saying:
Your computer's clock is set to a date before January 1, 2008. This may cause some applications to behave erratically.
And my clock & date was, in fact, set to an incorrect time and some date in 2000. I just corrected the date and it was fine.
Any idea why this happened/if it's a sign of a problem?

Ok so i have a Macbook. It shut off. So i was like ok ill just log back on no worries. Then its time got set to (JANUARY 1 2000) i am an admin on my computer but when i go to date and time i cannot change the date and time? i can click the golden lock pad in the bottom right corner but when its unlocked i am still unable to change the date and time ANYONE PLEASE!!
