MacBook Pro won't power up and no charger light after USB device was plugged in
Hey guys,
I have a late 2012 MacBook Pro 13" with a water damage that didn't cause any troubles (until now).
A couple of days ago I plugged in a Samsung tablet to recharge it's battery on my MacBook. At the same time my screen went black and the MacBook powered off. No usual forced low-battery-shutdown or anything, it just died. From then on the charger light didn't work and I wasn't able to start the Computer anymore. From time to time the charger light was flickering a little bit but way darker than the usual luminosity. The Laptop had a water damage about a year ago, which didn't cause any trouble. I dried and aired it for a couple of days and didn't switch it on during that time. It worked normal for the rest of the year but now I think the mainboard is ******. Please tell me something different, or the truth even though it might be shattering.
Just in case it might be important. I was backpacking in Sri Lanka when the incident took place. It didn't seem like there was an overvoltage or anything like that though...
Thank you guys and have a good day.
Alex
Liquid damage is progressive.
Best action that can be done is to take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked out
and repaired if possible and affordable.
Best.

MacBook Pro won't power up. No charger light
I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro 15" with 2.4Ghz i7 w/ OSX 10.8.4
I did an Apple software update today. It included updates to iTunes and i think a Thunderbolt update also. It requested a system restart so I went ahead and restarted it and left the room. When I came back in about 10 minutes later it was powered off. I tried to start it back up but it won't do anything. The light on the charger wasn't on either. I tried another socket and another charger and same thing. Before the update I had a full charge on the battery and the charger was lit up so I'm pretty sure its not an issue with the charger or battery. Tonight I looked at it again and noticed that the charger light is on its just very dim where you can berely see it.
Has anyone seen this issue before? I have seen a few other posts similar but none where everything just died all at once. My warranty is out so I'm trying to find a way to repair it myself if possible. I use this laptop to do alot of video editing so it gets pretty hot at times. Hopefully its not damaged beyond repair. I have alot of PC repair experience but I've never messed with a Mac other than upgrading RAM.
Thanks in advance for any responses. Thanks for your quick response.
I probably should have mentioned this before but I just got it back from repair about a month ago. I had a problem with one of the USB ports not working sometimes. They replaced the logic board and both RAM sticks. I will try the SMC reset when I get home in the morning. I bought it refurbished from Apple and the warranty just ran out about 2 weeks ago so hopefully the SMC reset will do something.
I did try removing the battery connector today for about 10 minutes but that didn't have any affect.
Thanks again for your help. -
Macbook pro won't turn on. Flashing charger light. Please
I have had my macbook pro for less than a month and it will not turn on. When i plug in the charger it does one of 3 things; A) the little light on the charger won't turn on. B) it comes on orange and then after a period of a couple of minutes slowly fades out and then back on as green followed by flashing green. or C) It simply won't come on. The computer will not turn on during any of these instances. And when I check the battery by pressing the button on the side none of the 5 lights turn on.
I have tried it with the charger for my other macbook and still doesn't work. And both the chargers work on that computer. So i know it is an issue with the macbook itself.
The sleeper light never turns on at all either. I hope the battery didn't burn out.
Is there anybody out there who could please help me?
Shed some light on this...Since you've had this for such a short time, I would take it to the Apple store and let them deal with it.

My MacBook Pro is not switching on and my charging light is very dim green
Hey ! My MacBook Pro is not switching on. I was trying to charge my iPhone through the lead attached to the MacBook. I suppose the iPhone charging lead might not be a original. Hence it kept saying that this accessory will not work. So I took it out. As soon as I did that my mac switched off and it would not switch on again. The charger light went really dim green. It usable is more brighter. I've waited for a while. It's not switching on. I was trying to do smc reset but I suppose if I'm doing it right it's not working. I was reading online and I didn't find much help. I live in Pakistan so I can't go to apple store. Please tell me a solution !!?

Macbook Pro won't turn on and no charge?f
Hey, I bought my mbp around September of 2009. Last night I put it to sleep, and when I woke up it wouldn't turn on. The battery indicator shows only 1 green light and flashes for a couple of seconds. When I plug in my charger, there is no light, as well. What should I do?
Thanks in advance!Hi Ezam
It's interesting that you say that it's a new battery charger, do you still have the old one and have you tried that?
It sounds like a problem I had with one of the Laptops where I work. We were experiencing problems with the charger so we bought a new one, didn't think anything of it and the Apple Store didn't ask any questions - why would they.
After a few weeks the Laptop seemed to be losing it's charge, so we called in our support contract, turned out that the Adapters are very slightly different and the one we had although it worked was not quite the right one for the Laptop we had (This was one of the older style chargers with the jack type connection).
Not sure if this rule still applies with the MagSafe but might be worth looking into, sounds like the chargers not getting the power there. The 1 battery light you're experiencing is the sign that the Battery doesn't even have enough juice to light one light.
The service Battery warning seems to be a common one coming up at the moment with Snow Leopard but it shouldn't stop the machine from turning on, especially as you can run the MacBook without a battery in (not advisable mind). -
MacBook pro won't power up! Acting asleep, black screen, fans don't fire up. Light nr catch pulsing, have taken batt out and reset but still blank screen, help!!
You may want to try this.
Solution A
Start up your MBP while pressing Option (alt)|, Command, P, R until your hear 3 chimes rather than 2 as indicated by apple. This worked for me the first time.
Solution B
Start your MBP while pressing Option (alt), Command, S
Hold until you see the computer automatic routine. When it finally stops type the following followed by "return":
fsck -fy
It will probably indicate some problem related to "pcscd.pub" (should be 16 instead of 17). I haven't figured out what this means but somewhere in the Internet i read it is related to scan cards...
More importantly this routine will fix any problems with your HDD similarily to disk repair. When it ends, it will tell you if it has fixed/modified anything. If it has, run the routine again by typing again "fsck -fy"
Lastly, reboot by typing "reboot" (followed by "return")
Solution C
Start up your MBP while pressing option (alt), command, S
hold keys until you see computer commands scrolling
when the routine stops type the following, each line followed by the "return" key:
mount -uw /
chmod 775 /
chmod 1775 /
reboot
After which your computer should reboot on it's own.
Each of the above has worked for me at one time or another. Once your computer has rebooted from the DVD you can reinstall OS X. If your problems started after installing 10.5.6, then I don't suggest updating until 10.5.5.
I'm very very disappointed with my 2007 MBP, it started to give me problems after 1 year. had to change the HDD and lately when I isntalled 10.5.6 it suddenly refused to start up., My previous Mac laptop (2003 866Mhz) worked for 4 years without a hitch. Ironically I've had to use it to access the internet and find solutions for my current MBP.
best of luck -
My macbook pro won't power up or charge after i cleaned the screen and keyboard with a damp cloth
Do not try to use it. Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians evaluate it for FREE.

I have a MacBook pro that has power issues and will not start but the hardrive is fine. I do not want to lose all of my files so I was wondering if it's possible to transfer my hardrive from a older Macbook pro to a new one if I were to purchase a new one? Also, the software is not updated as the computer hasn't worked for about 2 months.
Also, if it is possible to transfer the hardrive, would my iTunes music transfer as well? It is not saved in the cloud.
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated. You computer is probably perfectly repairable, but if you want a new one anyway, it is perfectly possible to transfer the data from the faulty one.
But it would be a mistake to simply put the old HD in the new computer.
These are the steps:
Remove Hard drive from faulty computer. (very easy on Unibody MBPs, do-able but not so easy on older MBPs)
Put it in a cheap enclosure
Connect it the new computer
Boot up new computer.
If the new computer has never been run before the Setup Assistant will ask if you want to import your apps, data, settings etc from either another mac, another HD connected to the Mac or a Time Machine back up.
Obviously chose the second option (another HD connected to this Mac) and follow prompts.
If the new computer has already been run (so Setup Assistant doesn't run when you boot it up), you will need to use Migration Assistant...or run the installer again so that Setup Assistant runs again.

My 13.3" macbook pro will not power up.The battery indicator light does not come on.The Mag safe charging light flickers green and red dimly.I had a cell phone connected to the USB port.
This didn't work for me, so I did a bit of searching and TONS of pages later in google, I found an answer. Here are the steps for people who also were in my situation:
1. Take off bottom case
2. Unplug battery - blurry image here: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/03cC79r5Dx4/0.jpg
3. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds
4. Plug a charger in, and it should start booting up
5. After shutting down again, reconnect the battery and close the case up
6. It works! (hopefully, if you guys had the same situation I did) -
My Macbook pro won't open downloaded programs, it just opens the code it was written in using the text and edit app. How can I fix this? I just bought the computer last month so this is some what frustrating.
If you are downloading .exe files, those are Windows programs, and will not run on your Mac unless you install Windows on it. (That is possible, if you need one of those apps.)

My MacBook Pro won't reconnect to my Wi-FI automatically after waking from sleep mode
Hello, everyone. Since I updated to Yosemite, my MacBook Pro won't reconnect to my Wi-FI automatically after waking from sleep mode.
Does anyone know how to fix that?
Thanks in advance,
Arthur.Hi, arthurpacifico.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple troubleshooting steps that I would recommend trying to see if it corrects this issue.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Reset your computer’s PRAM
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If the issue persists, try the troubleshooting steps I have attached below.
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
After waking from sleep or starting up, your computer may not show that it is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
After start or wake, your computer may indicate that it is connected to a network, but does not connect to the Internet.
Solution
Use these steps if your computer does not automatically connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Check your TCP/IP settings in the Network pane of the System Preferences. Click the "Renew DHCP lease" button
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Network from the View menu.
Select Wi-Fi, then click the Advanced button in the lower-left hand corner of the screen.
Click the TCP/IP tab from the top of the screen.
Click the "Renew DHCP lease" button.
Select the Wi-Fi tab and view your Preferred Networks list.
Select each network and click the minus sign to remove those networks from your Preferred Networks list.
Click OK and close the Network preferences.
Remove your stored network passwords using the Keychain Access Utility.Restart your computer.
Open Keychain Access from /Applications/Utilities. Your window will look like this:
Remove your AirPort network passwords from the login keychain: Select the "login" keychain from the Keychain sidebar. Click the "Kind" column to order the list of keychain items by their type. Remove all entries of the kind: "AirPort network password".
Remove your AirPort network passwords from the System keychain: Select the "System" keychain from the Keychain sidebar. Click the "Kind" column to order the list of keychain items by their type. Remove all entries of the kind: "AirPort network password".
Note: The above steps will remove your Wi-Fi network passwords. If you do not know them, or if your network does not use passwords to restrict access, you should contact your network administrator.
Join your Wi-Fi network. You will need to enter your password for your network again if it requires one.

I'm connected to Wi-Fi, but my NEW MacBook Pro won't come online. This happened right after I transferred my data from my old Mac.
The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies. -
my macbook black shutdown during a thunder storm , what do i need to? it won't turn on and the charger light is not on green or on at all..have i fried it?please help a.s.a.p...
Most likely.
You can try to boot from the Install DVD for your Mac and run AHT from there if it boots.
If not it sounds like it is time to take it to Apple for repair.
