MacMAIL quit receiving emails.

MacMAIL quit receiving emails on 04/10/13.  Have confirmed settings with ISP and tested "Connection Doctor."  All are OK.  I am able to send email but not receive.  There are NO incoming emails.
Any suggestions?

  • MacMail stopped receiving email?

    Please help!  My MacMail does not receive incoming emails.  (It is able to send email).  I have checked settings with ISP provider (Earthlink) and run Connection Doctor.  Both check out OK.  What can I do to get MacMail to receive?
    Thank you,

    What does Mail/Window/Connection Doctor Show? If the server is red, select it and look at the Show Details box.

  • IPhone just quits receiving email

    I have two accounts set up on my iPhone, the Mobileme for personal and my work email. I set the work email to sync unlimited and Mobileme automatically has its own settings. Recently, it just stopped getting email or syncing what I was doing on my desktop from either my personal or work email. It just says connecting forever. So I thought maybe my work email was overloading it, so I limited the work email to only sync 1 month back. That fixed the problem immediately and emails started coming in. Today it again stopped syncing my work email or personal email. I restarted the phone and I was good to go again. Does anyone know a solution to this problem. I emailed Apple and they say I I can reset the cache on the phone but I can only find that for my browser. Anyone got any suggestions?

  • Both of my imap accounts stopped receiving email.

    Both accounts quit receiving emails at about the same time. One on 5/28 in the evening. The other on 5/29 in the morning. They had been working fine for years. I deleted the password from one of them to see if this was an issue, but neither account requests the password when I restart TB. They both sit with an hourglass symbol without requesting pwd entry. I have sent test emails to these accounts. All of my POP3 accts are working just fine and my iPad can pick up email from both of the imap accounts. Is there something else that I should try to do?

    never asks for a password. sounds like an anti virus issue. ie your anti virus is not letting the process of getting mail happen.
    Try
    Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]

  • I can receive email but now can't send or reply-rebuild Macmail? Need help

    I receive email ok but all of a sudden I cannot send email or reply to email using Mac Mail. The error message says----
    Message could not be delivered and will remain in outbox,
    The sender address xxx@xxx was rejected by the server.
    Someone said to delete macmail program and then rebuild it.
    How do I save my mail in my mailboxes and special folders and address book before deleting current macmail program?

    In Safari / Preferences - Security. Make sure Java is enabled.

  • Email quit receiving after five days on Lion OSX 10.7.3

    I installed Lion five days ago and moved to iCloud. Mail was working fine, then quit receiving last night. I checked the iCloud imap incoming server, and it was changed, I hope by Apple, but it is grayed out, and inaccessible.  It says p99-imap.mail.me.com. Did you do this as some type of iCloud adjustment? It is really proving a challenge, because I rely on email constantly during the day.
    thanks for any help.

  • Mail won't quite without "force quite" , Mail stops receiving emails after a while, not happy about MAIL's performance!!!! :(

    I have massive problems with Mail.
    I use mail at work and have 3 accounts running
    1. Mac. mail account
    2. Gmail mail account
    3. Exchange Server
    I have quite a few folders in my accounts where I have to archive my emails to.
    Often very often or lets say annoyingly too often mail stops working.
    - stops receiving emails
    - emails I have put away in folders disapear in my inbox again
    - if I try to quite Mail it won't I have to force it and then when I open it again all my emails I was working on open again even so I have sent them already.Also all the emails I have folded away are back in my inbox WHAT A WAIST OF TIME!!
    I AM VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT MAILS PERFORMANCE AT THE MOMENT! IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK!
    Does anyone have the same problems and more importantly does anyone has a solution to this problem other then switching to Outlook???
    Thank you!
    Oliver

    I have the "stops receiving mail" problem with Exchange.  Sometimes I can open up the Activty window in Mail and stop  the stuck processes. Other times I have to close then reopen Mail.  I usually do the latter. A fix would be nice.
    I wonder if your other problems are related to this. The actual process of relocating your messages is maybe queued up behind one of the stuck processes. Just guessing. I have not had that problem.

  • Ipad receiving emails but they do not come on to the mac for quite some time

    Hi My Ipad is receiving my emails, the alert sounds, but the Mac doesn't receive them for quite some time after, is there a reason for this and how can I overcome the problem.I've just sent two emails and the response to both are on the Ipad, which is next to my computer, and I can see  the Mac isn't showing anything in my inbox!!!!
    Regards
    Richard

    Hi Thanks to everyone for their help, I've checked what has been advised, for some unknown reason both Ipad ans Mac receiving emails at the same time. I do apply rules to my incomming mail, due to the fact of persistent male medical tablets advice !!!!!! from certain sites and also people needing money! Idid check there and deleted the last rule, whether something I did in that particular rule gave this problem I will never know. Do you think adding rules in mail preferences  is the correct way to stop unwanted mail or is there a better way?

  • I cannot receive email properly now. When I open mail, it says that is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, it gives me my newest ones. But this takes a long time. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right setting

    I cannot receive email properly on either my IPad or my IPhone. I have had them for over a year and they have always worked fine. Until three days ago, when they both started acting up. On the IPad, when I open mail, it says it is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, which takes quite a while to get to, I finally get the most recent ones. The IPad is sending emails just fine.
    On my IPhone, when I open mail, it says it is downloading 100 emails, but it doesn't do that. And it gives me no new emails at all. The IPhone is sending email just fine.
    I have already deleted the email accounts on both devices and reinstalled them. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right settings. The Outlook email on my desktop is working perfectly.

    WMV is a heavily-compressed format/CODEC, and the processing time will depend on several factors:
    Your CPU, which is not that powerful in your case
    Your I/O sub-system, which is likely a single HDD on your laptop
    The source footage. What is your source footage?
    Any Effects added to that footage. Do you have any Effects?
    Each of those will have an impact on the time required.
    The trial has only one main limitation - the watermark. Now, there are some components, that have to be activated, but are not with the trial, but they would be evident with Import of your source footage, if it's an issue.
    Good luck,

  • Can no longer send or receive email from any account after Security Update

    Hello,
    I have a problem with my email in Mail. I let software update install the latest security update (007) a few days ago. I have not been able to send or receive my email since the update. I have several accounts and use Mail as my client for all. This includes my mac.com account, 3 att.net accounts and my website email. All give me the same error which is an SSL thing and has something to do with the certificates. I am able to receive email if I turn SSL off on the ATT accounts but not the mac.com (and if I try to collect my email with SSL off I get an angry message from ATT warning me I am not allowed to do so) and I cannot send any at all from any account.
    The error message reads "unable to connect- there may be a problem with the mail server or network.... The server error encountered was: Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificated issued to "mail.mac.com". The error was: An SSL error occured while trying to read data from the server. Verify this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct". It then states that the certificate could not be verified.
    The certificate date on the mac.com account reads May, 29th , 2010.
    I also have an iMac and a MacBook Pro which are also running Tiger. I have not and will not run the security update on these machines until I find out why it has messed up my email on the G5. I can still send and receive email with the exact same account settings on the MacBook so I know it is not the settings but something to do with the Security Update.
    Has anyone else had trouble with this update? Any advice?

    Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
    I don't know if this is a corrupted preference file or not, but it sure can't hurt to try this.
    If Mail is open, Quit Mail.
    /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    Drag that .plist file to the Desktop. Launch Mail and see if you can send or receive e-mail. If you can, that .plist file is corrupted. Drag it to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. Your Mac will create a new preference file for you the next time you launch Mail.
    Also... run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility is in your Applications/Utilities folder. Launch DU, select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, click Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.

  • Cannot receive email from Yahoo

    I have 2 POP email accounts from Yahoo. Both have worked fine for about a year. All of the sudden on Nov 1st, I can no longer receive email only on one of the accounts with Mac Mail. The second account continues to function fine. I also have no issues accessing my mail through a browser.
    So far I have done the following;
    -I have verified with yahoo that all the settings are correct.
    -I deleted the first account with the problem and then recreated it. When I did this it downloaded ALL the email messages on the server but only up unitl Nov 1st when I started having the issue. I received no email messages sent after Nov 1st.
    -I set-up the email account on a Win XP box (same network) with Outlook Express and was able to download ALL the messages including ones after Nov 1st.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I went into Yahoo webmail and deleted a few emails on the date when I stopped receiving email. Magically, all my subsequent emails were were delivered to my MAC email client. One of the emails must have contained something that created an issue for Macmail. I have had no problems since.

  • Ipod touch generation 2 ~ I can't send or receive emails from my gmail account.  I have gone back to factory settings and updated the device. It will not take my password.

    I have not used this Touch iPod for quite some time and thought I would use it for collecting email when I am out.  I have wasted a lot of time trying to get this to work and now wonder if the 2nd generation is too old to send and receive email.

    I am using imap on all my other devices.  I use a Google domain email address.  The only divice I have that will not sync is this older generation iTouch. The version without the camera. Model PB528LL.  I know my email address is correct and the password works everywhere else.

  • After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

    After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

    My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
    From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
    I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
    I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite.

  • Help with ATT email setup.  Was working fantastic but can no longer send or receive email.

    I have been having problems with sending and receiving emails on both my macbook and my Ipad using my att.net email for over a month.  I didn't change any of the original settings when that happened but after trying to fix it after scouring the internet for help I have my settings like this on my Ipad.  Actually I have two separate ones trying to get either to work.
    First one:  Yahoo!
    Outgoing mail server - SMTP   Yahoo!SMPT Server
    under advanced Primary serve - Yahoo! SMTP Server On
    I can't find anyplace else to change the settings.
    If I am missing a place to go, please explain exactly how I find it.
    Second one:"my user name"@att.net
    Imap Account info
    Host Name Inbound.att.net
    Username:  "[email protected]"
    Passsword ***********
    Outgoing mail server
    SMTP outbound.att.net
    under the advanced
    Use SSL on
    Autentification PW
    IMAP Path Prefix /
    Server Port 993
    I think it is imap although I have used pop, also.    The error message i get is:
    SMPT:"email address"@[email protected] is not correct.
    I don't know where it is drawing that from.  I'm willing to eliminate all ATT associated accounds on my ipad and begin again if someone can help me get it set up correctly.  I have all these mac products so i can seemlessly work on all my devices.  Right now, I'm not a happy camper.
    I am having similar problems with my MacBook Pro so if there is someone outthere that is using ATT as their email address and using it successful on their Apple devices,  I would sure appreciate any help I can get.  BTW, ATT help line is useless on this.
    Thank you!

  • Can't receive email form outside accounts

    Hi everyone,
    I am trying to set up a mail server on [nuke dot mgh dot harvard dot edu].
    I can send emails anywhere, I can receive email from the accounts created on this server, but I can't receive anything from any outside account. I know there are other threads with a similar problem, but fixes described there didn't help so far. Any help will be appreciated.
    the postifx config is:
    nuke:~ MP$ postconf -n
    command_directory = /usr/sbin
    config_directory = /etc/postfix
    content_filter =
    daemon_directory = /usr/libexec/postfix
    debugpeerlevel = 2
    enableserveroptions = yes
    html_directory = no
    inet_interfaces = all
    localrecipientmaps = proxy:unix:passwd.byname $alias_maps
    luser_relay =
    mail_owner = postfix
    mailboxsizelimit = 0
    mailbox_transport = cyrus
    mailq_path = /usr/bin/mailq
    manpage_directory = /usr/share/man
    messagesizelimit = 52428800
    mydestination = $myhostname,localhost.$mydomain,localhost,nuke.mgh.harvard.edu
    mydomain_fallback = localhost
    mynetworks_style = host
    newaliases_path = /usr/bin/newaliases
    queue_directory = /private/var/spool/postfix
    readme_directory = /usr/share/doc/postfix
    sample_directory = /usr/share/doc/postfix/examples
    sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail
    setgid_group = postdrop
    smtpdpw_server_securityoptions = plain,login,cram-md5
    smtpdrecipientrestrictions = permitsasl_authenticated,permit_mynetworks,reject_unauthdestination,permit
    smtpdsasl_authenable = yes
    smtpdtls_keyfile =
    smtpduse_pwserver = yes
    unknownlocal_recipient_rejectcode = 550
    virtualmailboxdomains = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual_domains
    virtual_transport = lmtp:unix:/var/imap/socket/lmtp

    Do the following tests:
    1. From the server itself, open a Terminal window and issue:
    telnet localhost 25
    If you see your mail server responding, your are fine locally. (enter quit to exit).
    2. From a client machine in the same subnet as the server issue:
    telnet serverip 25
    If the mail server responds you know it's not the firewall on the server. If it doesn't then it's probably the OS X firewall.
    3. If needed, keep going "further" away and repeat above procedure until you know where port 25 is shut.
    Nuke is a subdomain, but what is an MX record? (if "what" is too long to explain, is there a simple instruction somewhere on how to create it?)
    An MX record is a DNS entry that tells the outside world, which server is responsible for handling mail for the domain/subdomain in question.
    If leaving the name untouched in the config was the only ingenious thing I've done today, I could call it a great day
    No to worry. Obfuscating domain names is pretty pointless anyway as they are public.
