Magic Mouse-issue opening files in Preview

Previous mightly mouse allowed me to open desktop files in Preview with one click. Magic mouse requires a right click to open menu and then click on 'Preview'.  Am I missing something?

I doubt it was ever with one click.  Should have been a double click.  And that translates into a left click in a "2-button" mouse which basically a MM is (unless extended with various utilities).  So do a Finder Get Info on one of the documents in question.  Look at the Get info's "Open with" section and set the popup menu accordingly.  Click Change All button.  Now when you double click all such files it will open with the selected application.
Note you maight also want to check you mouse system preferences to confirm the "secondary" (right) click is indeed defined as being on the right.

  • Magic Mouse issues after updating to iTunes 11

    Hi,
Just updated to iTunes 11, and immediately after installing I have been losing Bluetooth connection to my Magic Mouse.  This usually happens when I click on an icon in my dock to launch an App.  Specifically, most often when I am launching iTunes.  I've ruled out a battery issue, as I've replaced them and it doesn't make a difference.  I've even cleared my PRAM at startup (CMD+OPT+P+R at startup), since I saw this suggested for similar Magic Mouse issues not related to iTunes. Resetting the ram made no difference in my case.
I've had the Magic Mouse for 2+ years, and this has never been an issue before.  In fact, I've never had any connection issues with the mouse that weren't related to weak batteries, and everything was working great until I installed iTunes 11.  Just wondering if others have had this issue since upgrading to iTunes 11, and if so, how it was corrected?
    Thanks.

Hi, I've not had this issue, but iTunes 11 does seem to be doing something to my Magic Mouse. For example within iTunes 11 I can no longer swipe forwards and backwards. Not sure if there is some kind of hitch with the new iTunes software and the Magic Mouse firmware?

  • Issue opening files.

    Hi,
I've recently been having issues opening files from clients where I get a message telling me the file was created in a newer version of Adobe - this has occurred with both my InDesign CS6 and Illustrator CS6.  I have made sure the software is updated but the issue keeps coming up, can anybody offer any advice?

Probably created in Adobe Creative Cloud.
You can get a trial of Creative Cloud that will last 30 days - and see if you can open the files from there.
It's always best to work on the same version of InDesign as the file was created in.

  • Bluetooth Magic Mouse Issues (OS X Yosemite 10.10.3)

Upgrade to 10.10.3 has made Magic Mouse unusable other than for the first few minutes following reboot.  Have tried all suggested fixes including reset of NVRAM, SMC & turn off/on Bluetooth.  Keyboard and track pad don't appear to have the same issues.  Mouse works fine initially and after reset, but once applications (i.e. Mail, Safari, Calendar, etc.) are opened, device loses connection and connection won't re-establish for 10-15 minutes.  Replaced all batteries to new & also deleted and repaired Bluetooth devices to see if that would fix.
USB Mouse works without issue, but lacks functionality of Magic Mouse so looking for a solution.

    Hey. I just fixed it
    Try this
    go to your library/preferences/
    find the folder "SystemConfiguration"
make a back up on your desktop then delete it from library/preferences/
restart computer ( your mac will remake those files)
    viola working bluetooth and wifi

  • Magic Mouse Issue

Hello, I've recently installed Snow Leopard, and encountered the dreaded problem of the magic mouse. It will not scroll and be properly detected as a bluetooth mouse on my system.
I've tried everything in this topic : http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2383403
At one point it was working properly then I got this message on startup:
    *System Extension Cannot be used*
+The system externsion "/System/Library/Extensions/AppleBluetoothMultitouch.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update"+
Now, I'm stuck with a two button mouse. Does anyone have this kext file ? Or a possible fix to solve this annoying issue ? I would be forever grateful.

I´m having a similar thing, no error message, though.
The mouse does not do any scrolling etc, only left + right click.
Can´t install the "WirelessMouseSoftware", the installer says there´s a later version of this software already installed...

  • Why I can't use trackpad or mouse to open files, pics and videos?

This what happend, I have brand new Macbook Pro Retina 15 in, it was working well untill for any reason now I can't open files, pics or videos using the trackpad or mouse single or double click. I have to use right click and then select open or open with.
Any idea why this happening, is any driver I have to redownload or what?

I guess I have to answer me by myself, I check out here that some body allready had the same problem and the answer is go to system preferences select mouse options and then reduce the speed of (double-click speed) but still a issue for mac beacuse I think should work well not matter the speed.

  • Premiere CC 2014 - Magic Mouse issues?

I know most professionals might prefer not using Apple's Magic Mouse for professional applications, but I happen to kind-of like the mouse.
However, since using the latest version of Premiere CC 2014, I've noticed some very erratic behavior with the Magic Mouse. Click-dragging to move clips on my timeline doesn't always work. Sensitivity is delayed in zooming in on the timeline. Scrolling lags. Etc. etc.
Anyone else have any issues using the Magic Mouse? All my other non-Adobe applications seem to be working fine with this mouse, though I have notice some similar sensitivity issues with the mouse in Illustrator and InDesign.
I'm hoping there will just be a bug fix or something, as I've been having to resort to using a wired mouse, which is a clunky fix.

EXACT SAME THING HERE  Can't find answer !!
drag and drop clip is ssssooooooooooooo frustrating !!
I have to use a usb mouse for premiere and magic mouse for e-mail and other stuff...
    unacceptable !
I discovered that what makes it not to work is simply the horizontal scroll of the "middle button". if you click, start draging a clip and your finger move of half of 1mm, then it just end the move there... same for rectangle selection !
    hate that !
I'm getting pain in the arm because I switch mouse all the time and they are obviously not the same speed and this change my work flow and lot of stuff ! This is a tiny problem causing huge problem !!

  • Mac Pro Magic Mouse issue 2013

I'm starting this thread to try to get some current information on what seems to be a long time problem. My church media dept upgraded to a Mac Pro from a 2006 G5 two weeks ago and out of the box the magic mouse is jumpy, lags and disconnects. I thought the mouse was an issue so I brought a blue tooth mighty mouse from home to get by. It acted the same way. The only conclusion could be the bluetooth function of the Mac Pro.
I did my homework and found evidence of this problem all the way back to 2009. Gotta say I'm disappointed in Apple to have an issue unresolved this long. I'm quite the mac evangelist and this is hard to defend. I have read all kinds of solutions from rewiring the antenaes, installing external antenaes, USB plugins, etc. Most of these solutions are quite dated so I was wondering what the 2013 fix is for this issue. Preferably without having to buy something else after spending 3500 dollars on a machine that should just work!
I have a magic mouse at home on a mini and we have a mini at the church that we bought at the same time as the Mac Pro and the magic mouse works on that. So clearly this is isolated to the Mac Pro.

yep-you're right. However, Apple does NOT read this community forum, Ever. So, posting complaints about Apple here will do you no good. That being said.... there is no
"2013" solution, as the Mac Pro may not be Apple's current priority. I use a usb to BT adapter from Iogear which seems to work fine (it's the 421, the 521 will work with Moutain Lion only). I also bought a MS mouse because my wired mighty mouse bit the dust. I think I paid $40 for it. It came with its own adapter. It's an Explorer touch mouse if that helps. It also came with its own dongle, plugged into the usb port.  It has worked fine.
Those are the  known "solutions" : check to see if the Mac pro has an airport card, and where the BT antenna is plugged in, maybe try an external antenna (the G5 used to have one, I know) or a USB dongle. I've heard that removing the battery cover on the mouse helps. Why? I don't know

  • Magic Mouse issues

Since upgrading to Mavericks my magic mouse will not scroll or do gestures. I have tried PRAM reset, SCM reset deleting the bluetooth plist file etc. Anyone any ideas?

    Hello Giant Dog
Check out the articles below to check the settings on your Magic Mouse settings, if it the options are correct, then I would reinstall OS X Mavericks.

  • ODD new issue opening files from another network machine

okay, my setup is kind of convaluted, but this is what I have: I made the switch to Mac last year, and do all of my processing on my Macbook Pro. It has CS5 on it.
Because I havent been able to print properly from it (an alleged driver issue, wherein my images print with a 1/4" offset), I still print from a networked Windows Vista machine in the office--and because I hated the print dialogs in CS3 & CS4, I actually still print from PS CS2
(I know, probably seems senseless, but it works best for me). Life has been peachy.
    Now for the issue:
Suddenly, as of today, PS on the Windows machine wont open any jpg or psd on the Mac. If I copy/move it to the Windows desktop, it opens just fine. I either get a message saying it's "the wrong type of file," or--more bizarre, when I double click a file to open, I actually get the dialog box you get when you hit ctrl-N for a new document... and this happens the same in CS2, 3, & 4. Any clue as to what the heck I've got going on?
    thanks!

This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • Having issues opening files

I have Windows 8 on my computer.  When trying to open files, it will not open; reads the file is corrupt.  I try opening up file using another computer system and it opens without any issues.  What can I do to fix this issue? I need to be able to open and save files on system.
    Thanks.

Could you provide more information about the problem?
On Windows 8, what is the version of Reader that failed to open the PDF file?
What is the operating system of your other system?
On the other system, what is the version of Reader that opened the same PDF file successfully?
Would you share the PDF file with us at [email protected]?  We should be able to diagnose the problem and suggest a fix or workaround once we take a look at the PDF file.

  • Wireless mouse only open files on double click but will not move curser

My wireless mouse is pairing properly with my computer. It willl open files when I use the touch pad to move the curser onto the files and then click on them with the mouse.
But the wireless mouse will not move the curser on its own. So essentially, it half works. Have gone through this with help desk. We re-paired mouse with computer, checking that Bluetooth is functioning, etc; turning off and restarting. Evew blew on back of mouse to remove any dust. All appears to be in order, not mouse unfortunately. Normal wired mouse works fine. I have only today had a new HD installed. Everything else is working fine. Any ideas to get mouse moving again.

Yes - I took the batteries out. There's a little switch under the cover (marked "+" and "-") but I'll be darned if I know what that does. Took the batteries out and waited about 5 seconds.
I think I might have been having trouble because I had the mouse mated with a G4 laptop I replaced with a MacBook Pro, and both were on the desk together for a while. Now that the G4 is gone, I haven't been experiencing the problem. If you use multiple Bluetooth (Blueteeth?) devices you might want to make sure the mouse is only trusted on one.

  • Magic Mouse Issue (video) other then known lag problem

    Hi,
I have a big issue with the magic mouse.
It's better that you just watch the video.

  • Screen maginified and jumps around. Magic mouse issues

All of a sudden my magic mouse will zoom things without my command. It has magnified my screen so the whole screen (desktop) is not visible at one time and I can't figure out how to put it back the way it was. In the meantime, when I move the move everything jumps around. HELP! What is going on?

Sorry, I don't think you understand the problem I'm having. The mouse acts on its own all of a sudden. For example I will be in an application and just move the mouse (without touching the keyboard or attempting to click anything) and the screen will zoom to 400%. Now my desktop screen is so zoomed in that the top or bottom is missing. So when I move the mouse the whole screen jumps up and down or from side to side. No amount of tinkering in System Preferences has fixed it. Changing the screen resolution makes it worse actually. Holding the Control key on the desktop just brings up the menu for the desktop. It does nothing.
I've read that there are issues with the magic mouse. I guess that would be correct.

  • Apple magic mouse issues

i am on my second magic mouse. Neither work properly. The mouse loses connection and I am continually having to turn it off and on.The graphics shutter.

How long have you had your latest mouse.   Was it new when you purchased it?    What brand of batteries is it using?    Are these batteries new?    Have you tried cleaning the terminals inside of the battery compartment?
