Mail 4.5 Message Encryption Does Not Work per Articles

Apple's various articles and help files on how to send encrypted mail do not work for my currently installed Mail 4.5 on my 10.6.8 OS;
"An Encrypt (closed lock) icon appears next to the Signed icon if you have a personal certificate for a recipient in your keychain; the icon indicates the message will be encrypted when you send it." This DOES NOT WORK.
I followed instructions to create certificates with Keychain Access on both sending and receiving MacBooks, imported each others certificates and set them to trust always per Apple instruction. But Mail 4.5 DOES NOT allow me to send an encrypted email message from an email address with a certificate in KeyChain Access to an email address in KayChain Access; the lock remains grayed out.
I'd appreciate some help (and it would be nice if the Apple articles were corrected also).

When I had this problem originally, I called Apple support. Their solution was to remove all the 'interesting' files from the Library/Mail folder (including the V2 folder and its files) and import all the mailboxes manually. This would have worked but taken an eternity (>50 mailboxes, >100,000 messages), plus recreating rules, etc.
So I started experimenting. The critical files that made Mail not start up correctly were the SmartMailboxes plists (SmartMailboxes.plist, VersionedSmartMailboxes.plist). I deleted them (and their backups) and Mail started up OK. I put them back, Mail failed to start up. (Tried all that after Mail had transitioned all the old mail to V2 but hadn't successfully started up.)
So I cleared my Mail folder, reinstalled it from backup, removed SmartMailbox plists, and started up Mail. Imported everything just fine (except the old MailTags plugin of course), started up normally. Very Happy now.

Please try:
Keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys pressed while launching PSE13 Editor and click OK on the dialog that comes next.

Sending by mail an Invoice with VF02 does not work

Hi guys,
When using VF02 to send by mail an invoce form, the functional consultant is in trouble since it does not work. I am ABAP consultant, and before starting to debug the huge amount of lines of code behind this transaction, I think there might be a more straight solution. When setting the invoice number and entering this transaction, we accessed Goto->Header->Output. The output table to enter our fields appears. Here we set ZXXX as output type and External send like the Medium. When I press enter, the line is automatically filled with the rest of fields. Then we go to Further Data and choose the Send Immediatelly (when saving the application) option. Get back and press Save button. After it, a message "Please enter a communication strategy" is shown and the SD consultant told me that the correct option is MAIL (in fact, this option is part of the F4 help, with "email" as descriptive text) in the Communication strategy field. She told me it should be all to send a mail with the invoice. We did not fill the Logical destination nor checked "Print immediatelly" or "Release after output" checkboxes since they are not useful in this case. So when finally Save button is pressed, a message appears: " ", and then a dialog box appears with the following message: " Express document "Update was terminated" received from author "GILBERTO PARGA"". The mail received in my inbox is only a error message with title "Update was terminated" and the content is the following:

The system is SAP ECC 6.0. Note that the message indicates no output device was defined, but since we are using email instead of print output, it does not matter. I have filled the field with the same result. I have read from Internet it could be a configuration trouble (the SD consultant checked it before, according herself) or even a Basis issue. Anyway, do you know the possible causes and possible solutions (like OSS Notes) for this trouble? The print output works fine, by the way. Thank you all for your help.

If you maintain method EXTERNAL SEND then in communication method you have to specify Communication strategy as CS01(Internet/letter)
If you maintain method simple mail then in communication method you have to maintain RECIPIENT and RECIPIENT TYPE
Also check the number range assignment for billing type for error "Update was terminated"
you might be assigned numbers which are already consumed.

Export Parameters in Parameterized Message Mapping does not work.

I have a question: how to use an EXPORT parameter in Parameterized Message Mapping? seems it does not work...
(I use XI / PI 7.1)
For example, I have a follow scenario: a large message comes to XI from one BS (message contains a lot of rows), then this large message splits to some small messages (something about 1000 rows in one small message), and send small messaeg one by one from XI to second BS. So, after receive step I use a transformation step with Parameterized Message Mapping to get a total amount of rows in large message (it needs for making condition for loop in IP, for example). I want to use an EXPORT parameter to pass this number from Parameterized Message Mapping to Integration Process. How can I do it?
Of course, I know the way to how to make this scenario without any parameterizing, but I want to use exactly "Parameterized Message Mapping" like it writes in this help:

Step by step:
1) I create in "Signature" tab two parameters: FILE_NAME, FILE_TYPE (of course, they both Export and xsd:string type)
2) Then, I goes to "Functions" tab and create new function "testUDF" with one argument var1.
3) In body of this UDF insert 2 strings:
getOutputParameters.setString("FILE_NAME" , "Order");
getOutputParameters.setString("FILE_TYPE" , "PDF");
4) in "Definition" tab I bind function "Local.testUDF" with one field in my input message and goes to "Test" tab for testing.

Encore CS6 does not start / freezes - Message: Encore does not work anymore (Win 8.1)

Encore CS6 does not work. When I launch the Programm a message appears "Encore does not work anymore" and I can only choose close or debug.
How can I solve this error?
By the way it is really early to stop the development of an DVD authoring software!

With Windows, an update will OFTEN/SOMETIMES cause a problem with the graphics adapter driver
What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

S/MIME encryption does not work

Hello everbody,
since 2 days I'm trying to get email encryption up and running without any success.
I have a personal certificate from the german mail provider WEB.DE installed including a private key. I also installed the necessary root and mail certificates of this provider so that the chain of trust is given. Keychain says, that the certificate is valid.
I now received a signed email from a friend. This gets his certificate installed into keychain. It is also shown in the adressbook next to his email adress. When I now reply to this mail and check the encrypt button, I get the error message, that the email can not be encrypted and I shall check wether valid certifcates are installed for all recipients.
Sending signed emails works like a charm and I can also check the encrypt button. It is not grayed out.
I deleted all certificates and reinstalled them multiple times with no effect. I also ensured, that I do not have any conflicts with other certificates. The mail adress in the TO field of mail is written in the same way, it is given in the recipients certificate. I also executed first aid from the keychain application. No problems found.
I changed the trust settings in both my own and the recipients certificate in different ways and restarted mail in between. I also restarted osx multiple times. Nothing solved the issue so far.
I read about 50 articels on the web including everything about SMIME encryption in this commuity but I can not find a solution.
What is the problem here?

First, the address associated with the S/MIME public key must exactly match the address to which you're trying to send the encrypted message. The matching is case-sensitive. "[email protected]" does not match "[email protected]".
The recipient's certificate must be valid: not self-signed, expired, or revoked. You can check the status of the certificate in Keychain Access (see below.)
If you can't encrypt messages to a valid address with a valid certificate, continue.
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid.
If the box labeled Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select Keychain from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
Quit and relaunch Mail. Test. If the problem isn't resolved, continue.
Export all S/MIME certificates, delete them from the keychain, and reimport. For instructions, select
Help ▹ Keychain Access Help
from the menu bar and search for the term "export" in the help window. Test.
If the test fails, delete all the certificates again, then reinstall them from fresh copies.

IPhone message tone does not work when app is open

I no longer get a tone or vibration notification when receiving a text message if the Messages app is open, even after the phone has been put to sleep.
So, this is what happens: I write a message in Messages and send it, and then press the power button to put the phone to sleep. If a message comes in reply, the phone does not play an alert tone or vibrate. But if, instead of pressing the power button, I press the home button first and then the power button, the alert tone/vibration functions correctly.
I don't have iMessages turned on. My phone does have a password lock at the home screen.
(The Mail application may have a similar problem, though I haven't been able to reproduce it on purpose, so it's possible I'm just missing the notification when it happens.)
Encountered on both iPhone 4S (with iOS 6) and iPhone 5.

I have Firefox 11.0 and still had to disable Skype Click to Call to get the copy options back in Excel.

Days To Keep Messages" = Forever does not work

My blackberry deleting my old txt messages. The issue doesn't affect emails, bbms or any other messages - just SMS.This can be within a month or a few days - totally random.
I followed the advice of the prior poster and set "Days to Save Message" = Forever. This does not actually work. I set to Forever and it still arbitrarily deletes txt messages (Fyi: it will keep everything else: email, voicemail, etc even though that is actually backed up and txt is not. So my BB "memory" is not full, I have elsewhere and the txt messages are lost entirely.)
Any solution for this problem ? atlist there any setting that will warn before device start deleting SMS? Like other phones?

I have a Leopard desktop 10.5.8 and I have trouble with my Email Apple MAIL draft folder. First of all after I typed my draft and sent to draft, the folder would not open at a later date to send. In all I have 10 messages, mainly test which I cannot delete from my Draft folder.
My draft system is now working but I cannot get rid of the 10 messages which sit in my INBOX and DRAFT folders.
These messages appear in Application - Mail but they will not go.
How do I delete, or is it best to use My Disc 1# and delete all my software and replace with the Disc in order to have a new MAIL program?
Any advice would be welcome.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.

E.mail alias with mac account does not work...

I created an alias on my mac account. I made a new account in mail app, but am not sure what username it needs. Does it need the original username of the account holder or the part that is before the at in the alias email address?
It keeps asking for my password when checking mail, I know the password is correct as it should be the same mac account password as always right?
I need the second address for business, and it is pretty urgent. Can someone enlighten me? I tried to look it up in the help, but I don't see anything.

You cannot access a .Mac account alias as a separate account in Mail.
The following was copied from Mail Help:
If you have a .Mac account, you can send and receive email using .Mac email aliases. An email alias is an alternate email address for your .Mac account.
To send a message from a .Mac email alias:
Choose File > New Message to open a compose message window.
Click the Account pop-up menu and choose the email alias.
When you send the message, it will appear to come from your email alias.
Messages addressed to your .Mac email alias will arrive in your .Mac account inbox.
To set up a .Mac email alias, choose Mail > Preferences and click Accounts. Select your .Mac account and click Account Information. Click Edit Email Aliases to go to the .Mac website. Log into your account. Click Accounts and then, in the Email Aliases section, click Create Alias (if none exist yet) or click the Add button (if at least one exists already). Enter a name for the alias and click Create Alias. The alias will then be available in the Account pop-up menu in new message windows.

Intermediate Message Event does not work correctly

I did a test about intermediate message event, i want to realized a business scenario
1) start event
2)parallel split
branch A........ Intermediate Message Event
branch B.........Human Activity Task
3) end event
In this case above, when process is start, a human activity would be created in
UWL view, at same time, this intermediate event is waiting for external WebService Call.
I triggered this webservice(for intermediate event), but this process is not terminated,
and human activity still in UWL view.
Could you please tell me why?

Mail can get messages, but does not send

I've synced up my iPhone 4, (upgrading from a 3G), and I can receive email from my accounts, but I cannot send mail. I've gone through and verified all settings, and they are identical on the phones. I can still send mail from the 3G (over WiFi). Any suggestions?

How do you know mail is not being sent: do you eventually get an error message indicating that the receiving server rejected the message or was unable to deliver it?
If you are testing by sending messages to yourself, bear in mind that some spam filters may be filing those away in a junk folder because it is a common pattern of spammers to send messages from you to try to evade filtering. Try sending to a different account (you can create an account for testing on Yahoo mail, Microsoft Outlook/Live/Hotmail, or Gmail).

Message app does not working on my Mac

Hi,
The message app stop working on my mac. Everything went gray that I can not even select preference. I can send message from the notification center, and I can only view unread messages on the notification center. Not sure if this issue coming from updating my system to 10.9.2, tried to delete the preferences from library/message and preference folders, also tried disk repair, none of that works. Please help and thank you.
