Mail adapter in PI 7.1 - dynamic attributes

Hi all,
I'm using dynamic attributes to set the header values for the outgoing mail in a message mapping.
Sometimes there can be several mail addresses.
Are there any limits to how many receivers I can send a mail to, i.e since I concatenate the mail addresses I wonder how long the TO string can be.
Thanks
Sten

  • How to set "Cc" field in Dynamic Email address in Receiver Mail adapter

    I have done the configuration for setting up the dynamic email address using the XSD provided by SAP in note no 748024. It is working fine.
    Michal's blog “Mail Adapter (XI) - how to implement dynamic mail address.” was a gr8 help in doing this.
    But there is no clue of setting up of "CC" in email.
    There should be "CC" in email is our bussiness requirement.
    Would appreciate your helps.

    Hi,
    If you do not need mail package for other reasons, I suppose it is enough to provide a value in Dynamic Configuration for fields "THeaderTO" and "THeaderCC" and the select "Use Adapter-Specific Message Attributes" and "Variable Transport Binding" in receiver Mail Adapter.
    see <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6b/4493404f673028e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">SAP help</a> for more details.

  • Configuring Receiver mail adapter with dynamic email addresses

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie to XI and I have problems in configuring the Receiver mail adapter with the "Use Mail package" option selected. I am trying pickup a file (using file adapter on Sender side, picks up a simple XML file) and after mapping in XI, send the message as an email message to dynamic email addresses.
    Everything works fine if I did not select the "Use Mail Package". But when I choose that option it errors out. I followed this blog posted on SDN -
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/07/mail-adapter-xi--how-to-implement-dynamic-mail-address
    The following XML message is my source
    <ns0:Messages xmlns:ns0="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Somenamespace">
       <ns0:Message1>
          <ns1:studentlisttest xmlns:ns1="urn:karthiksender_to_karthikreceiver">
             <Student>
                <studentid>1</studentid>
                <lastname>Studentlastname</lastname>
                <firstname>Studentfirstname</firstname>
             </Student>
             <Mail>
                <From>[email protected]</From>
                <To>[email protected]</To>
                <Subject>Test mail adapter</Subject>
             </Mail>
          </ns1:studentlisttest>
       </ns0:Message1>
    </ns0:Messages>
    What I want to accomplish is, I have a simple message mapping where the Studentdetails are mapped to, lets say Customer details. For convenience lets keep it simple, StudentId --> Customerid, (student)Firstname --> (customer)Firstname, (Student)Lastname --> (customer)Lastname
    I would like to get the Customer details as an XML attachment or in the body of an email with from, to and subject corresponding to that specified in the <Mail> node.
    I followed the instructions posted on the blog and it works fine if I don't map the studentdetails to customerdetails. I did multimapping, with one source message (the xml file I posted above) and two target messages (customerdetails and Mail, which is the external definition posted on the blog). I beleive I'm missing something here. Could somebody please guide me through this?
    Thanks
    Karthik

  • Content-Disposition - Dynamically set in Mail Adapter

    Hi All,
    I need to dynamically set the Content-Disposition in the receiver mail adapter so as to facilitate dynamic names for my attachment in the mail.
    In case i use messagetransform bean, I will have to hard code the name as part of the parameter value in the adapter.
    Is there any way i can utilize the ASMA and dynamic configuration here?
    The specified item was not found. - i referred the blog but instead of setting the
    attachmentXML.setName(mailFileName);
    attachmentXML.setContentType("text/xml");
    attachmentXML.setContent(by);
    I need to set the content disposition. Is there any way?

  • Dynamic Mail Adapter Config

    Hi All,
    We're trying to use a dynamic mail direction in the mail adapter checking the Mail Package option as it's mentioned in: /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/07/mail-adapter-xi--how-to-implement-dynamic-mail-address (excellent blog).
    But we have a mapping error in the SXMB_MONI:
    RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformation: Cannot produce target element /ns0:Messages
    In the mapping we have one source message with the content of the mail and the direction, and two different structures for target. One with the mail package structure and the other with the target content.
    Do you have any idea why we're having this mapping error?
    Thanks in advance!

    I'm trying to use the dynamic adress for mail adapter. So I've created an external object from the file mentioned in https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/1361. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    Then I've done a multimapping, first message with the mail payload and the second with the contents of the mail.
    In configuration, I've checked the Mail Package option and execute the interface.
    Sender adapter and mapping was right, but there is an error in the mail adapter as follows:
    error occured: [2006-05-29T14:38:31Z] unable to call the mailer; com.sap.aii.messaging.srt.BubbleException: Failed to call the endpoint [null "null"]; nested exception caused by: com.sap.aii.messaging.util.XMLScanException: expecting start tag: Mail, but found MM57_V01_COM_MONTH_MAIL_FILE at state 1
    Any idea about this?
    Thanks in advance!!!!

  • Dynamic Mail Adapter using message split

    Hi,
    My requirement is like this:
    one flat file will come
    Sample Structure:
    Email_address   Custom_ID        Status             Comments
    Many records will be there in that
    Sample data:
    som @ xi.   1234       approved        blablabla
    ram @ por   1236       approved        blablabla
    par @ mdm  1237      approved       blablabla
    vin @ gp      12348     rejected        blablabla
    Pi needs to pick the 1st record and construct an email with following information:
    email address: som@xi
    Likewise every record needs to be sent as email, and club the records in one mail if the mail address is same.
    How to go by!
    I have read the Micheals Blog:
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/07/mail-adapter-xi--how-to-implement-dynamic-mail-address
    And gone through the SAP note and downloaded the XSD.
    The XSD is may works only for one record, also occurance in XSD is (1,1).
    if Any other approach Please suggest me.

    I also tried that it is saying
    " Cannot load schema with the target namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/Mail/30 to namespace http://blabla.com/IMG/INF2199"

  • Regarding Receiver Mail adapter.

    Hi experts,

    in this weblog michal have told to download the XSD file from service market place  and upload it in IR External definition it gives us target structure.What is the use off it, we can directly create the target structure.
    And also one more dought what is the use off checking parameter in mail Attributes use mail package.I dont have much knowledge on mail adapter please help me in this issue.
    i want to send parameters dynamically into receiver mail adapter in my project ie(TO,FROM,SUB and CONTENT) please send links and doc's on it.

  • Mail Adapter Change File Extension

    We have the receiver mail adapter setup to send the contents of a message to an internal email account. The adapter works and the message arrives as a soap.xml and payload.xml. The problem is that our mail system blocks the xml extension. Is there an easy way to switch the extensions from say xml to txt on the messages.
    It looks like the PayloadSwapBean module can change the content type, but I just want to alter the extensions. I know I could use an XSLT to convert the contents to html and then just send the message as an html email but I was hoping to avoid design changes.

    J,
    Check note : 856599
    <i>Q: Can I choose the name of an attachment in the mail?
               A: Yes. Most mail clients use some heuristics based on some MIME headers to derive the name of an attachment. The MIME headers involved in most heuristics are Content-Type, Content-Description, and Content-Disposition. When you create an XI message, the XI payload name is automatically set in the Content-Description. If you want to change or set all of these headers, you can use the MessageTransformBean module (Note 793922) in the adapter framework.
                Related questions: How can I set the file name of a mail attachment?
    Q: How can I set the file name of a mail attachment?
                There are several MIME headers that play a role in how the client retrieves the file name of an attachment. Unfortunately, this behavior differs among various mail clients. The reason for this inconsistent behavior comes from the fact that this mechanism has been extended incrementally. The old way is to use the name parameter in the Content-Type header as specified in RFC1341. For example, you can set the content type of an XML attachment as:
               Content-Type: application/xml; name="abc.xml"
                RFC1521 discourages the use of this name parameter in anticipation of the new header Content-Disposition, which is defined in RFC1806.
                With this Content-Disposition header, you can set the file name as:
               Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="abc.xml"
                Some clients may show the Content-Description value as the file name. The Content-Description header is typically used to associate some descriptive information to an attachment (RFC1341) as in
               Content-Description: my xml file
                To avoid potential interpretation problems, it is recommended to combine the use of these headers.
    How to use MailPackage in Receiver?
                A: When a mail message is sent out by the receiver adapter, normally the mail header information such as "From", "To", "Subject" are taken from the channel configuration. In order to dynamically set these headers, you can use the MailPackage mode. In this case, the XI payload must be formated in the Mail Package XML format. The format of this mail package XML document is defined in note 748024.</i>
    Use the mail Package and the set the <b>Content-Disposition </b> with the file name and extension.
    For info on how to use this mail package, take a look at this blog too,

  • Mail adapter - how to get rid of attachment

    Hi XI Forum,
    I want to send a simple mail notification to a user, that his/her data has passed through XI. In that connection I don't want the default behaviour of the mail adapter, which is to attach the message payload to the mail.
    In other words - I want to send a mail with NO attachment.
    How do I accomplish that ?

    Hi,
    Change the Message protocol to 'XIPAYLOAD'. Make sure you uncheck the 'Keep Attachments' checkbox. This should send the email with the xml message in the body of the email with no attachments.
    If you do not need the xml message in the body, you could use 'Mail Package' by checking the Mail Package checkbox. In this case, you need to have a mail package xml created with email id, subject and content (that could be custom text). For more instructions on how to do this, refer to Michal's weblog:

  • Column header in receiver mail adapter

    Hi experts,
    I have a proxy to mail scenario in which I send a mail with a file attached.
    Is it possible to put column headers in the attachment, possibly without changing the mapping?
    I mean, working with module configuration in communication channel?
    Thanks
    Fabio Boni
