Mail and Notes (To do)

Question

looking for help.So the mac site says use leopard mail to help with "To do's" o.k so i tried this highlighted copy in a "To do" pressed "to do', yello note appeared above text and that was it, yet on the site it shows also a due date box etc and says it will add the "to do" to your ical..etc....i may being stupid...so hwep please. yes i am running Leopard..
Will apple ever give simple and clear directions for tools etc? will they ever not be too complicated? or maybe i am just too thick

You've almost got it. In the yellow paper you will see a circle with an arrow inside it. Click on that and you will get options. Each line is a "to do" item and so each will have a set of options. There is also a checkbox so you can mark the "to do" item as done.
There are actually two ways to get the yellow paper. If you are viewing an email, then the yellow paper appears above the email as you described. Anything you add will be "to do" items associated with the email, and they will appear in the "To Do" section of iCal. (The pushpin in the lower right corner of the iCal window will show/hide the "To Do" section in iCal.)
The other way you get yellow paper is whenever you create a note, however it's not associated with an email. Instead, an new window appears with the yellow paper. You can write whatever you want in there, and you can select some of the text to make "to do" items in your notes. These will show up in iCal, too.
