Mail constantly freezes
Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks, which was shortly after it was released, Apple Mail constantly freezes. It's an odd sort of freeze in that I can still scroll through existing mail and can compose a new email. However, it doesn't bring in new mail and if I write a new email and try to send I just get the spinning beach ball and then have to force quite. Once it has hung up, it won't work again unless I completely restart my computer. What I have noticed is that the Mail hang often happens when I have InDesign open. Also if Mail is frozen, Safari seems to freeze at the same time.
Since there seems to be some correlation with InDesign, have been wondering if fonts might be an issue as I use Suitcase in conjunction with InDesign. Anyway, after the last Mavericks update it seems as if the freezing is now occurring even without InDesign being open and it happens on a daily basis, to the point where I'm about to give up on using Mail. When I first had the problem it seemed like it was related to Gmail accounts (I have 2 in my Mail Account), but from everything I have read this should have been solved.
Anyone have any thoughts on this problem. I've been a longtime Mac user and this is the first time I've ever had such a prolonged issue after an upgrade.

approx every 30 seconds the browser freezes and 'saving' appears in the top bar of icloud mail. The cursor starts spinning and then after about 8 secs I can start typing again. I also fiund that about 5-6 times a day my icloud browser tab showing mail just close and return to the main icloud menu page showing icons for mail, calender, notes etc -
Ever since downloading iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6, I've been experiencing quite a few issues (I am assuming all are related to the update, but not sure)
I apologize in advance for the lengthy post! Here goes:
• Screen constantly freezes--sometimes it freezes on the home screen (no apps open), other times when I am in Settings, Photos or any of my downloaded apps. Each time this happens I have to restart the phone by holding the home and lock buttons in order to unfreeze the screen...this happens approximately 4-5x per day.
• All of my apps either freeze or crash upon opening, and my Mail app either refuses to stay open or it will show an empty inbox with 'no mail' --even though my email has always been synced to the phone.
• I am not receiving a lot of iMessages or incoming calls to my iPhone, but most of the missing iMessages will appear on my MacBook Pro. And when I do receive iMessages normally, entire portions of certain conversations--both sent & received--keep disappearing (whether my iphone is on all day or if I have to restart it). *the convo that has gone MIA on my iPhone will still appear on the other persons phone.
• When I open Messages or Recent Call logs, the contact names do not appear..only 10-digit phone numbers. (Even though all of the #s are saved by name in Contacts).*This has only happened a few times so far.*
• Furthermore--and most frustrating!--my camera and photos are practically inaccessible. Almost every time I open 'Photos', the app crashes.. I have no available storage to use the camera so when I try to select photos and hit 'delete' the app crashes instead of deleting the photos.
• I have considered performing a factory reset... however, my iCloud states I have 4.6gb available (w/ 5gb plan) even though my photos are turned on in iCloud, and should be taking up most of the 5gb storage space..they appear 'On,' but do not show up under 'Manage Storage'...the only apps/documents/data shown are WhatsApp and Mail so I am afraid to reset the phone as I have no idea if the photos are actually backed up or not. (Screenshots are attached)
If anybody has been experiencing any of the same issues I would greatly appreciate your insight or advice for how to fix this! I'm hoping it is just a bug with the new iOS software and not an issue with my phone itself as it is only 3 months old.. Thank you in advance!**Adding to the final photo in my original post... Over the last few month I have noticed my 2006 Mac Book Pro, is getting slower and slower and then starts to freeze with the the coloured wheel spinning. To the point of having to erase and reinstalling from the time machine back up. This seems to cure the probelm for a week or so then the coloued wheel reappears and start the whole thing again.
What is happening here? I have the max 2gigs of ram, lots of space on the HD. I have run all the DU and updates and nothing seems to fix it. Is my MBP done?

RichFunny, same thing is happening to me. Running latest Snow Leopard, on my 2010 Mac Mini, 2GB RAM, loads of space on my hard drive. For the past few months my computer has been constantly freezing, at least once a day, sometimes more, usually when I only have Mail and Safari open. I started using Safari again after using Google as my browser for almost a year, thinking that was the problem. No change. I have deleted the old Preference files for both applications, repaired permissions, etc etc. -- all the usual "fixes." Would be grateful for any suggestions.

I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1, and it now constantly freezes, won't respond at all, and has to be force quit and restarted. Within less than 5 minutes of use, over and over and over... I'm assuming it is a bug in the Mac version.... Am switching to Safari as I can't waste this much time constantly quitting and restarting and getting my tabs all back up. Any suggestions on ways to let Firefox know about the bug would be greatly appreciated. It worked fine until I upgraded :( Am running Mac OS X 10.6.7

I recently downloaded the new Firefox (Firefox 4, I think - you can tell I'm very tech savvy!) and it constantly freezes, I can't do anything with it at all - I can't even close it from the icon in my Mac dock bar.
I have tried restarting my computer - though I have to turn it off by using the power button as as Firefox is open and totally unresponsive it won't let me shut down. About a minute after re-starting Firefox, restoring my tabs or starting afresh, it freezes again.
This is obviously very annoying and I'm not sure what I can do about it. Firefox is my preferred browser, and I'd really like to be able to use it again!This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
Firefox 18.4%

This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6. -

Problem description:
My Mac is constantly freezing, for (how it looks like) no good reason. Sometimes it occurs when I load League of Legends, sometimes it does not, also it just froze when I opened Iphoto, so I am not sure why this happens. So when I shut the Mac down, which is, or so it seems the only thing I can do, at the time of the freeze, it tells me, I have a graphic problem, but I am never able to see the report. Yea this is my problem right now with the mac, thanks for reading.

IPod Touch 3rd Gen 32GB Constantly Freezing
I've had my 32gb 3rd Gen ipod touch since Nov 2009 and for about five months now it's constantly freezing up.
It's random when it does it and will freeze up regardless of software updates or resets.
I'm running 4.3.5 and have wiped it clean numerous times using itunes but it still does it.
We have an iphone and ipod classic and have never had a problem with either of those.
Can anyone assist?
I was thinking of taking back to apple via a store but other than charge the repair cost of £110.00 I've seen on the apple UK website what else could they do?

WillThat what I fear, but as it started just out of the twelve month warranty and has become steadily worse until it's been practically unusable for the last three months it leaves a very bitter taste.
Only because I'm used to doing it I'm resetting back to factory settings as I type.

My adobe acrobat XI Pro has been constantly freezing when I open documents. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program, changed some settings based on community threads, nothing is working. I have to close the document, open it back up and wait at least 60 seconds before I can do anything. I use Adobe pdfs for everything this is very bad. I am using MS Office 365, and Adobe CC on Windows 8.1.

Mail is freezing up on 1 email (that I've already deleted from my gmail)
The Situation:
I have mac mail set up to send/recieve from my gmail account. Usually it's all been working fine.
Problem:
Someone sent me 40 emails with a 20MB attachment in each email. Mac Mail now tries to download the messages but freezes up. I went into gmail and deleted the messages with the attachments. but Mac Mail still freezes whenever I try to get new mail from my gmail.
I've already used the "get account info" to delete messages from the server. Mail is just **** bent on pull these "unpullable" messages from my gmail account.
What do I do?Yes I've restarted everything a few things..!
It's like Mac Mail has the large messages (or whatever it is that is clogging up the pipeline) cached somewhere and can't remove it from the stream. I'd delete the gmail mailbox from Mac Mail if that would fix it, but I am afraid I'll loose all my mail.

Please believe that the problem is with your set-up not Firefox.
I think you are going to have to work your way through this(Safe Mode, Problematic Extensions etc) - there is no magic button -

Make sure your plug-ins(such as Flash, which isn't) are up-to-date.
For the record, this forum is mostly run by volunteer helpers who are users just like you. All of our Firefox versions are working beautifully. -
IPad mail app freezing, need help
I've experienced my Mail app freezing twice in last two weeks in the middle of writing a mesage. I can't save it as a draft nor can send it, can't move to another folder. But if I leave the Mail app and go to gmail app it works. Anyone knows what's happening?

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the mail app and restart.Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button.Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
It is possible that you have an email in your inbox or trash folder that is causing the problem as well. Maybe an email with large attachment? If you have an email like that - try deleting it from the iPad. You may need to do that from the server in your webmail using a web browser if the mail app keeps frezzing on you. -

I have a .mac account. I understand the concept of IMAP and that it information is stored on the server therefore it needs to update but surely not constantly and besides the blue bar sticks halfway through without completing. Please help.I have had the same issue. Rebuilding fixes it temporarily, but it comes back....Also have an issue where Mail will not download attachments automatically. They show up in grey until they are clicked...have Mail set to download all messages and their attachments, but it doesn't want to. Very frustrating. I have begun the switch to Entourage, which is unfortunate, as I like Mail more.
