Mail Messages appear...then quickly disappear

On my iPhone 3Gs I'm having this strange mail behavior. The mail icon will show I have messages and when I go to the mail app and select the MobileMe account, the messages will display momentarily and the spinning wheel thing will spin. Then the messages go away as if it is syncing with something and saying that they have already been read on another machine. I have 2 iMac's and a Macbook that also sync with the MobileMe account.
When I look for the messages on my iMac they are in a Deleted Messages (.Mac Account) folder under the MobileMe tab on the sidebar. It's as if the messages are automatically being sent to this folder upon receipt. They never stay in the inbox.
Any experience with this or thoughts on what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance....Nano

Gmail can only access from a server that supports POP3 -- .Mac does this, but conceptually it is counter to the philosophy of an IMAP account, which with Mail you have set your .Mac account to be.
In setting up Gmail to access an account (remember it does so as POP) you have a selection of whether to leave messages on the server or not, and furthermore the instructions for such Gmail access talk about the possibility of too many messages on the server. But that concept is based upon the server being a POP server. Yours is set up to operate as an IMAP account, and in an IMAP account all messages and indeed the entire Inbox resides on the server. If a message were removed from the server it would be removed from the Inbox you are expecting to view in Mail on your Mac. The symptom would be just like a "winking out", as Mail remembers the message was once there, but suddenly it is gone!
Access via Gmail is just like accessing from another email client or device.

  • E-mail messages appear, then disappear.

I've been having e-mail messages show up in the inbox then disappear. It's been happening for months. I use a lot of rules and folders.
    Steps I've taken:
    – Rebuilt every mailbox in Mail
    – Today I deleted the Envelope Index but the problem keeps happening
    – Contacted SpamSieve to see if it might be their add-on (they don't think it is)
I archive all of my e-mail at Gmail so I can see that every day a few messages get through but don't turn up in my inbox. Any suggestions? Are there some more things like the Envelope Index that I can trash and hope for a fix?

  • Mail messages appear then disappear

    Hi All,
We have been having so strange issues lately with emails coming into users mail clients and then dissaperaing right away. We are running OS X 10.6.8 server as our primary mail and authentication server, as well as iChat and iCal. the server it self is running on a Mac Pro with 64GB of RAM, 2 Xeons, and 2TB Raid 1 on a raid card w/ cache enabled. This has just started recently and is now starting to affect business, so I need to find a solution to this. I have check in our mail logs and I am only seeing the emails that have been acctually delivered to the users, no record of the emails that have been disappering, the logging level is set at Information and all AV and spam filtering is disabled.I have also disabled Junk Mail Filtering on the client side which helped for a bit but dosen't any more. • Mail message appearing and then quickly disappearing

I keep seeing alerts for email messages pop up in the top right corner of my screen. They disappear before I can even see who they are from. When I check my inbox, there's nothing. Nothing in junk mail or any other folder either.
I am getting email alerts for the emails that do end up in my inbox, but these alerts that appear and then quickly disappear are driving me nuts. There are a few forums I'm a part of and other services I use like eBay that I am not receiving emails from at all (except password reset types of emails).
My guess is that Mail is deciding that these emails are junk and filtering them, but I have no idea where they are going or how to stop this.
    Any ideas?

I'm not sure this will work, but try disabling Mail alerts in Notifications, log out/in, and then set them back up.

Thanks for the suggestion, the next step was to call Apple, who gave me a claim number, which I discovered you must have to get anything done with them.  They refered me to a Apple store or repair center, after some reseach took it to the Computer Store in Mobile, Alabama and they were excellent.  They took pictures of the screen with bug submitted it to Apple who denied the claim but they kept kicking it up to the next level and finally Apple agreed to sent new cover.  The Computer Store had the cover the next day, they changed it out and now I am bug free.  If your in the area of Mobile Alabama you can feel good about getting help from the Computer Store.  For the two folks that responded to my note, Thank You, good comments and good advice.

  • When attempting to access a specific web page on my iPad, the page seems to load then quickly disappears (resembling a white/black we page). Other sites seem fine. Note this is also occurring when I use Chrome (to access the same page).

When attempting to access a specific web site on my iPad http://www.sggplastering.co.uk the page seems to load then quickly disappears (resembling a white web page). Other sites seem fine.

Thanks so much for addressing my question. Note that the site (www.xula.edu) was working with Safari this morning, but not this afternoon. I also have now been able to access it with Chrome (remember I could not access the site with Chrome initially). Essentially one time while the site was loading on Chrome I clicked another link on the site and opened a new tab for the link- the original page then loaded and now continues to load. I've been trying to do the same with Safari but the page loads and "goes to white" to quickly.
Other notes: I've powered off my iPad (did not help) and restarted my iPad (also did not help). I can also access all other links (to other www.xula.edu related pages on the site using Safari - I find them via a google search)- it's just the home page that loads then goes to "white screen" very quickly. Thanks again for your reply - any help/advice provided is greatly appreciated.

  • After clicking "close" X, a message appears then disappears too quickly to read. It begins "Firefox will close now..." The word "security" appears in the next line. What is the rest of this message and should I be concerned about "security"?

    none further

The full message that was almost impossible for me to read was: “'''Firefox will close now. Please standby while BetterPrivacy checks your hard disk for LSO cookies…'''”
To see if your message is the same or different:
    1. Open Firefox
    2. Press and hold the Shift key with your left hand
    3. Close Firefox
    4. Then, as soon as the message appears, press the Print Screen key with your right hand
    5. Open the Microsoft Paint program, go to the Edit Menu and press Paste
    6. A box with the full message should appear. If not, continue to open and close Firefox and hit Shift/Print Screen until you time it just right and the message will appear when you paste it into Paint
There would not appear to be any security concerns with the message posted above
There may be security concerns if your message is different.

  • How do you 'mark all' mail messages and then delete in Iphone 5?

I cannot do a mass delete of my emails any more in iphone 5 - how do you get the edit functions back onto the screen once you have 'marked all' the messages?

As Chgrist1 said, that is how it works. Having looked as how Outlook stores mail, and everything else. It is a wonder anything ever comes out that is useable. PST files are a mess. First thing they do is pull the email apart and store header, body and attachments is three different places.
You will also find (most likely) that your accounts in Outlook were POP and the default in Thunderbird is IMAP. merging IMAP and POP files and folders is fraught with difficulties and dangers. It would be a brave developer that tried that in an import.
In the case of IMAP all your mail is one the server, so import is not all that important. However copying a gigabyte or two of of outlook mail into your imap server could exhaust your available message storage space there and cause the import to fail completely.
So If you want to do what your saying, first confirm that your not using IMAP mail. Otherwise your experience is most likely going to be exceedingly poor.
If you are using POP mail, then changing the setting in your pop account to cause it to use the global inbox will make a single mail account appear, "Local Folder", with your outlook mail as a sub folder of that.
Dragging a folder from the imported outlook tree to Local folders is not difficult, as long as you remember that folders hang of other folders, so your dragging them to a parent, not a position on the screen you like.

  • Mail messages appear blank

All mail in arbitrary mail folders appear to have no message body (even though I know they do). I have tried deleting the Envelope files in my ~/Library/Mail folder, as I have seen suggested elsewhere, but (after importing) this does not fix the problem. It has, however, succeeded in quadruplicating each message!
    Any other ideas?

I finally solved this by backing up my ~/Library/Mail directory, then removing it from ~/Library, as well as deleting everything in ~/Library/Preferences that began with com.apple.mail-. Then relaunching Mail, recreating all my accounts and slowly, slowly importing all the backups one-by-one.
I solved the duplication problems using Mail Scripts: http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
All in all, the process took about 5 hours for a combined 18,000 messages (not including all the duplicates).
Time I could have spent better! :/

  • App store updates not working-installing appears and quickly disappears.

I cannot seem to update apps on my iPad. I have updates, when I open AppStore and click update all the installing bars appear and very quickly disappears. Doing individually does the same. Everything was working fine last week this issue appears to be new. anyone having the same issue and did anyone have a fix? Or is this a apple App Store server issue ?

Same issue here with my iPhone 4.  Was working last week fine.  Now I have the same symptoms as the original poster.  Even in ITunes on my pc I had error updating apps (11111) error?  I have tried resetting , logout login even change payment method no luck.  Maybe my account is messed up?  If my phone is out of service will apple care?

  • Messages Appear then Disappear

My iphone 5 (ios 7.1.2) has been acting up. It says i have two unread texts but ive opened them all. Earlier today i got a couple texts that showed up on the lock screen preview, but then disappeared when i opened up the messages. Emails show i have 989 but often will clear to zero, once i hit the email app it has to redownload and often times crashes. Some of my texts come in and there isnt a name or number on it either, so i have to scroll through the convo to figure out who its from.
ive tried resetting my network settings and did a hard reset and backed it up via PC, the number of two unread texts is still there.

  • When people view my site, it appears ... then quickly disappears!!  ???

I recently viewed my site from a friend's Windows PC and the screen began to populate with graphics and text. As soon as it was completely populated, all the graphics and text disappeared leaving only the background 'fill' ...
I have used other Windows PC's and this was not a problem so I don't think it is exclusive to using another platform. I just received an email from another friend who described this same scenario.
Does anyone know why this is happening and/or solutions? Thanks much!

I had 2 friends with the same issue on their pc. In both cases it was their monitor resolution. It was set to 800x600, when I raised it to 1024x768 or something close to this, it worked fine. Have no idea why it worked though.
