Mail outgoing problem in ASA 5545-X(IOS version 9.0.3)

Hi,
Last week we have replaced our old firewall (ASA 5540, IOS ver:8.2.5) by ASA 5545-X IOS ver:9.0.3. Everything works fine other than outgoing mail. However, there was no issue in old firewall.
OLD Configuration(ASA 5540, IOS ver:8.2.5):

In command prompt it shows 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay. We have tried microsoft,Linux mail server, the issue is not in mail server.
In firewall log it show FIN flag from outside. Please help us to solve the issue.

I had this same problem with both my imac and mac book pro using hotmail via mac mail with bt as my internet provider. Suddenly 4 months ago out of nowhere i could receive emails but could not send them. I scoured all the threads followed all the fixes none of them worked. However I just phoned apple support and fixed it in a matter of minutes. I am SO happy. This is what the technician advised me:
Go to your apple icon and scroll down to system preferences. Then dependant on what machine you have it is different for my imac and mac book pro click on either air port/wifi then the advanced tab in the bottom right hand corner. Then click on the DNS tab. Hit the + sign on the left hand side and type in 8.8.8.8 then hit the + sign again on the left hand side it will create a new line underneathe and type 8.8.4.4 then hit okay on the bottom right and then hit apply, again on the bottom right. Then send a test email to check but it should be fixed.
Had to share this. Its been driving me mad for months.

HT6147 iOS 7.0.6 update - mail sending problems & uncontrollable apps closing

Hi all!
I’m having problems on two iPads after installing iOS 7.0.6 update. The first one is “sending mails via Exchange account and gmail is a NO GO!” an the second is “closing apps from time to time uncontrollably”. With iOS 7.0.4 this worked fine.
Anyone with same or similar problems? Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I already tried rebooting and deleting/adding accounts again in mail app with no positive effect.
Since iPads are used by company’s managers where seamless emailing is crucial function, this made iPads expensive bricks and nothing more.
The rest of iPads are to stay on the older version till this is fixed or workaround is found.

Can't get INcoming Mail; Outgoing no problem; Connection A-OK

Since 9:30 this morning, my MacMail is suddenly not pulling incoming e-mail from the mail server I use. I have sent out test e-mails - no problem. They all go and get delivered where they're supposed to. Likewise, I ran the Connectivity Doctor in Mail, and it says I'm connected with no problems. When I check the mail server itself through Safari, my incoming mail is all sitting there waiting to be downloaded.
No mailboxes are greyed out: they all say they're online
I took them all offline and put them back online again; no change
I did run a software update this morning, but I'm not sure exactly what it was running - there was an iTunes update that I wanted. But the software update coincided with the incoming mail problem.
Any ideas?

Have had same problem for a good few weeks. My internet service provider reckons it's the Mail package. No problem surfing so not the modem. I can download e-mails to my phone hours before they reach my Mac. I wonder if the computer ignores priorities in network preferences and goes for Ethernet before Airport; when it fails it gives up. Don't know what to do about it though. If anyone from Apple has an answer now's the time to impress the newly returned Mr. Jobs. Otherwise I'm gonna tell...

Frontier mail send problem

I Can receive mail using the mail app but can not send it. Seemed like it ran fine before IOS upgrade to 7.1.2
FRontier support sent all the settings for incoming and outgoing mail. I have DSL . tried to set up additional outgoing servers but had no luck. Frontiers uses POP3

I haven't encountered this problem on my iPad Air but this is what I usually do when Mail misbehaves.
Quit the Mail app like I describe then reset the iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.

Missing AVP 29 VSA 23 in the Radius Access-Request sent by ASA 5545-X 8.6

Hello,
we are migrating from ASA 5520 Version 8.4(3) to ASA 5545-X Version 8.6(1)2 with the same configuration ;
we are stuck with a Radius authentication problem related to an ASA clientless ASA access ;
when we compare the Radius dialog between each ASA (the old one and the new one) and the same Radius ACS 5.3 server, we can see that the only difference is there is a missing AVP 29 VSA 23 in the Radius Access-Request sent by the new ASA-5545-X compared to the good one sent by the old ASA 5520;
this AVP 29 VSA 23 carries the tunnel-group name as defined in the ASA configurtion ;
5545-X ad 5520 configuration files have been double-checked and compared : no difference between both files
any help would be appreciated to diagnose this problem

This problem was solved by upgrading the 5545-X from version 8.6(1)2 to version 9.1.2;
nothing else changed

How to disable AES CBC encryption on ASA 5545

Hi ,
In our environment having ASA 5545 ( IOS Ver 9.1) Firewall and In there AES 256 CBC cipher encryption is enabled for SSH user access.
we need to disable CBC cipher encryption and enable the CTR Cipher encryption for SSH users.
Kindly help me for the same .

AES256-ctr was just added in ASA software version 9.1(2). I don't believe the ssh encryption type is configurable in the ASA ssh server. You need to specify it in the client - I did verify it will connect when yo do that (see output below).
SSL encyption ciphers can be specified to exclude the weak ciphersuites.

The outgoing servers are from your local ISP, follow the link in teh message for troubleshooting. It's possible your ISP is experiencing problems or it is also possible you may need to restart your computer.

I have recently migrated to a macbook pro and have had no issues with mail for two weeks, until today. I have a new problem today with mail outgoing servers being "offline" without a way to turn them online. I did a software update yesterday and I may have gotten an OSX upgrade but did not notice. Does anyone know if there is an issue with 10.6.8? Does anyone have any solution/experience with this mail problem I cite?

Okay, fixed it on mine. In Mail.app:
1) Mail menu | Preferences.
2) Select problematic account in list on left.
3) Select "Edit SMTP Server List..." from Outgoing Mail Server drop-down.
4) Fix username by appending domain name
(append "@gmail.com" if standard account, or your own domain if apps user).
5) Re-enter password.
Save your preferences.

AAA problems PIX/ASA

I have a problem with authentication on my network. Here I have support level 2 and level 3.
Level 2 support, has restricted access to some switches and routers, the firewalls they could only give "Show ", the problem is that this is not happening.
I configured on the ACS command shell Authorization for the commands on switches and routers, for these users of level 2. and PIX / ASA shell commands, I set only the command Enable and Show.
My problem is that even when the support level 2 tries to access PIX and ASA on my network, they use the authorization of routers and switches, they do not use the parameters that I set up the PIX and ASA for Shell.
the only firewalls on my line is this Authorization below
Authorization TACACS + aaa command LOCAL
I have to configure anything else?
I can not create command line only for Firewalls.
I'm missing something? something missing?

Problem with ASA 5505 VPN config

I have a problem with ASA 5505 remote access vpn. I have site-to-site VPN and I need that my VPN clients can access IP subnets that I have behind site-to-site VPN. All that I have tried I get and error to my log “Flow is a loopback”.
So what I need : for example I need that vpn client with ip 10.0.0.1 can go to 192.168.1.2

A few things are required:
1) You don't need the following 2 lines, so it can be removed:
nat (outside) 0 access-list nonat_outside
nat (outside) 1 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0
2) On the ASA, you need to configure:
same-security-traffic permit intra-interface
3) Object group: DM_INLINE_NETWORK_2 needs to include 10.0.0.0/24
4) On the remote lan-to-lan end, the crypto ACL also needs to include 10.0.0.0/24 as the destination subnet.
5) The NAT exemption (NONAT) on the remote lan-to-lan end also needs to include 10.0.0.0/24 as the destination subnet.
