Mail: sent messages not in sent folder

Every time I send an email, especially with attachments, the mail is correctly delivered, but it don’t appear in the “Sent” folder.
If I send a message via webmail, it is correctly synced with the mail client (it appears in the sent folder on the server and on the Mac).
It’s surely a bug, all my settings are ok and I tried all the possible solutions suggested by others in this community and elsewhere before resigning.
I have 4 IMAP accounts and the synchronization is always very slow and time consuming.
This is unacceptable for a mail client..
Anyone have experienced this problem? Anyone has a definitive solution?
Thanks.

Any change?
Yes, it works, but it's a workaround to "prevent" the client to copy the message on the server.
The message is stored locally and I can't access it on my other devices..
I need that all messages are stored on the server.
Other clients do it perfectly, but I don't like their GUI and the fact that they're not integrated with the OS like Mail.
Since the problem does not occur with your workaround, I think that the bug is at some point during the sending process, especially when the message contains attachments and the activity window is "busy", filled with too many blue bars..

I too am finding at times and it seems to be when the message doesn't go out immediately, that it think it goes but doesn't appear in the SENT box although some do receive the message.

Mac mail has given me more problems since July/12 than Outlook did in 10 years.

    Hi Bronco_6
What do you mean by .Mac Mail? If you mean using a web browser to access your mail, then by default it does not save items in your Sent Messages folder. This is a Mailbox Behaviour preference that you can set by clicking on the Preferences text at the top right of the web page.
If you are talking about using a .Mac mail account in the Mail application on OS X then that's of course a different issue. It should work by default.
You may mean a combination of both. It took me a while to spot that messages sent via the Web page didn't end up in the Sent folder within Mail.app. Instead they appear in Sent Messages under the .Mac folder.
    Hope That Helps.

  • TS3276 Sent message not in sent folder...!!!

Sent messages don't always appear in sent folder, so I don't know if it has been sent or not - Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for that hint. Unfortunately I was not so lucky as you were. Also when trashing the .plist only the mac.com account remains in the account list after restart of Apple Mail. All other accounts need to be reinstalled
Still Mail does not store the mails in the sent folder. Need to say:
    - the "non-storing" is random, not all sent mails are affected. Sometime it is OK, sometimes not
    - Not only the Mac account is affected, it can happen also on my office accounts.
I am happy for further hints

    Hi AK
I must admit to being new to Macs but have in the past few weeks taken delivery of a MacBook Pro 2.0....exciting times.
With this in mind I have not played around with any settings, all is as standard, as far as I know.
I sent a message on Saturday and it is still in my sent box, as it was straight away. Four messages have been sent since, one was a repeat of the first, sent because of the missing message in the Sent Box. The other two were tests. The two tests arrived immediately and later I got a reply from the person I had originally emailed. But still no message in Sent Box other than saturday's

  • Outlook sent messages not in Sent Items, and not delivered, they disappear

Some of our users are experiencing this
They compose a message and click SEND.
A few hours later they hear from the intended recipient no message was ever received.
The sender checks his/her Sent Items and sees no record of the message.
I check Exchange (2007) Tracker logs and see no record of the message.
It's as if messages disappear into thin air.
I know this is true for internal email, but i do not recall instances for external email.
Clients are mostly Outlook 2013, with only a few 2007 and 2010.  We are in the process of upgrading everyone to 2013.

Have you personally verified that this happens with your own two eyes?  I would hope that you're not posting here based on what a user has told you.

  • Mail not saving sent messages, not moving Junk messages

Hi everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble with OS Mail. I've set it up to use an IMAP account, and have set my preferences such that Mail should save all my sent messages in the Sent folder (I assume the Sent folder on my computer, not the one on my IMAP server). Regardless, neither my IMAP server's sent folder nor my computer's sent folder contain any messages that I've sent, and I have confirmed that these messages have in fact been received by the recipients (therefore successfully sent). I am unsure of how to resolve this issue, as there is no obvious setting change for me to persue. I just received this computer (new) a few days ago, so I wouldn't expect this problem to be due to disk maintenance/management, etc.
Also, I have noticed that Junk messages remain highlighted and in my inbox. I changed my prefs to have these messages be placed in my Junk Mail folder. Mail asked me whether I wanted to apply that preference to older messages marked as junk that have yet to be put in the folder; I indicated yes. Nothing happened, and the Junk Mail folder remained empty (until I manually moved the messages to it). Any ideas?
I have searched the forums for related issues and could only find problems that had an associated error message with it; my issue is different in that there are no error messages; Mail is simply ignoring my preferences. Thanks in advance,
    Vic

In OS X Mail, this sent folder appears as a subdirectory
(sub "mailbox"?) under my "Inbox" mailbox along with
other folders that are mapped on my IMAP account.
This means you haven't set up your account properly. You probably should set Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix to INBOX, or something like that.
After putting the right string in the IMAP Path Prefix field, either the IMAP folders will appear somewhere else in Mail (i.e. not as subfolders of Inbox), or your problem will have already been fixed. Let me know what happens.
I should probably mention (just realized) that in my
account settings, my outgoing SMTP server is set to
be my ISP's server (which is different from my IMAP
    provider).
I wonder if, by selecting "save messages on server"
I am saving these messages somewhere on my ISP?
Mail should still save the sent messages where you've told it to. It's Mail, not the SMTP server, that stores the sent messages. The SMTP server has no bearing on this, but it was a good idea to consider that possibility, nevertheless.
When I uncheck this option, perhaps my mail will
be stored on my local computer instead?
Yes, that's what would happen, but don't uncheck that option if you really want your sent messages to be stored on the IMAP server, or do it temporarily, so that Mail does at least save them somewhere until we fix the problem, but I believe I already know what the problem is.

Does anyone have problems with sent messages not showing in their Mail? I have two sent folders when really I only want one. Any tips?

    Not sure if this is a fix, but I tried sending myself a test email from only  the Bcc field, and lo and behold it now shows the Bcc field in all sent item previews;
...maybe leaving the 'To' field blank on purpose forced Mail to show it.
Rebooted the Mail program, still there - rebooted the machine, still there. Hope this is still relevant and it works for you too - J.

Can anyone suggest an app to download for SMS messaging for iphone 3G as the message application factory installed is pretty useless and doesnt keep your sent messages in a sent folde and has no folders unlike most messaging features on other phones.

Why do you need a Sent folder?  iOS's Messaging interface lays each conversation out like a chat or IM.  Personally, I find that much more convenient.

  • Mail notifications are not getting sent from a Calendar client

Mail notifications are not getting sent from a Calendar client
    <p>
On the client, after creating an event and electing to send a mail notification,
the following error appears in a pop up box:
    "module:mailmsg.ctp,label 190, service error"
Also, in the /users/unison/log/cws.log file on the Calendar Server, there is an
error from the corresponding time that the client receives one:
    DEXOTEK ERRCODE Ox132B0 -> CWTCP_RemoteSecurityModified: RNC_SecurityModified
    -> Request 0x443 for NodeId 10002,
    status set to CANTSERVICE
    Solution:
If this is only happening for one user, then check for the presence of a dbv.log
file in the /users/unison/log directory. If present this implies db corruption
and the /users/unison/bin/unidbfix tool should be run.
Note: For details on "unidbfix", please read the man page and also the online
    Calendar Administrators Guide.

  • Outlook email not sent and not in sent items

We've been experiencing this 'phenomenon' for several weeks. Randomly, different users believed to have sent email when no email was ever sent. In fact no trace in our Exchange logs either. Each had a random window in which any email sent just disappeared.
It never made it to sent items and never made it to our exchange server. All with no Outlook errors and appearing to functioning normally thereafter.
In one case a user had discovered an entire days worth of mail had unknowingly not been sent and was not found in the sent items folder.
These installations are on new machines, Outlook 2013 (o365) and Windows 8.1 with all updates applied. For one it happened on the first day and for others it happened a few weeks later.
Everything I find on the web seems to lead to nowhere because it can't be reproduced and once discovered, if ever discovered at all, it's too late.
Up to now we've only disabled cached mode and are waiting to see if it re-occurs but it will only be when someone actually notices it.
    Anyone else seeing this?
    Shawn

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the issues with Outlook send emails, please follow these steps: -
In Outlook 2013, emails are not send may be because of the following reasons: -
A message is stuck because it has a large attachment.
You open a message or view Outlook while emails are waiting to be sent.
Wrong or changed password for the email account.
Incorrect settings, account not properly authenticated with the email server.
Outlook is set to work offline or the mail server is offline.
No email account is set as default.
Use of software that accesses Outlook data files (.pst or .ost)
Antivirus or anti-spam software is scanning your outgoing email.
Enable the Save copies of messages in the Sent Items Folder option by following the steps below for your version of outlook:
    Click
    File > Options.
    In the
    Outlook Options > Mail.
    Under the
Save Messages section, enable the Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder option.
    Click
    OK.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Sent messages not going to sent folder

I know this has been asked a bunch of times. This IPAD was purchased in May 2010.
When I go to the sent box on the IPAD it shows the same emails as are in the inbox, but no sent messages I sent via the IPAD.
I've read through all the emails discussion boards and can't find any suggestions that work. The email account is a secondary user on the MAC, so I'm not sure if that's an issue.
I've started blind copying myself to get the messages to the MAC, but is there a way to keep them in the IPAD SENT folder?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird queue. This question currently is in the Firefox queue for answers.

  • How to make a copy of the IMAP Sent messages when the Sent folder file can not be found?

My Thunderbird works fine. I can also see messages sent in the Sent folder but I wonder are the sent messages only saved in the IMAP server. For the backup purposes I would like to copy the file of the Sent folder but I can not find a local file for it.
In /home/me/.thunderbird/44g5fxvp.default/ImapMail/mail.[mymail].fi I do have files
    Archives-1.sbd
    Archives.msf
    Deleted Messages
    Deleted Messages.msf
    Drafts.msf
    INBOX
    INBOX.msf
    inbox_old
    inbox_old.msf
    msgFilterRules.dat
    Sent.msf
    Templates.msf
    Trash.msf
    Trash.sbd
I.e.the Sent.msf esists but there is not file named Sent. Am I looking from a wrong place? Are my Thunderbird settings or preferences wrong? Is there something obvious I have missed?
What is the most convenient way to make a local copy of the Sent folder messages if Thunderbird does not make a local copy of it?
    Information about my system:
    Application Basics
    Name Thunderbird
    Version 31.0
    User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/31.0
    Application Build ID 20140721092545
    Enabled Plugins about:plugins
    Build Configuration about:buildconfig
    Memory Use about:memory
    Mail and News Accounts
    account3 (imap) mail.[mymail].fi:993 SSL/TLS Normal password smtpa.[mymail].fi:465 SSL/TLS Normal password true

re: the Sent.msf esists but there is not file named Sent
That is because they are not stored on your computer they are stored on the server. The Sent.msf file is just an indexing file and does not store emails.
    re INBOX, INBOX.msf, inbox_old, inbox_old.msf
These subscribed folders have been synchronised to get a local copy onto your computer in your Thunderbird profile folder.
You need to do the same with the 'Sent folder.
    * https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/imap-synchronization#w_configuring-synchronization-and-disk-space-usage
then go into 'offline' mode to stop further synchronising.
Then you can right click on selected emails and save as .eml files in a folder external to Thunderbird.
You can also copy or move emails into a suitable folder in Local Folders. These folders keep emails on your computer, they are not modified by the server, they do not synchronise with any IMAP mail account.

  • Mail & Exchange - Sent Messages not appearing in Sent mailbox

Once setting up an Exchange account in Mail everything seems to be working fine except that when I send any emails they don't appear in the "Sent" folder. When I log in under webmail they do appear. Anyone else find a solution to this problem?
    Thanks for any help.
    K

I'm having my own share of problems with Mail 4.2 and Exchange Server 2007. See this post.
In addition to the Junk mail problem, I'm experiencing overall sluggishness. Mail takes longer than it should to quit, and sometimes I get the spinning pizza Loading… icon on simple text messages. I wish I could go back to re-configuring my Mail account to be POP instead of the auto discovery Exchange method.
As to the Sent mail problem, I am not experiencing that issue. I don't know if this will help, but go to your Exchange account configuration in Mail, click Mailbox Behaviors, and under Sent check "Store sent messages on the server" and for "Delete sent messages when:" choose Never.
My Sent messages all show up in my Sent folder in Mail, but they take a second. From what I can gather, these messages are sent to the Exchange Server first, and then downloaded by Mail. An unnecessary step, I feel, but I guess that's the way Exchange Servers work.

  • Sent Messages not appearing in Mail

For the past several days many of my older Sent messages from my Gmail account have not been appearing in the Sent folder in Mail.  The most recent messages from sent from Mail appear, but messages sent from other devices that used to appear in the Sent folder within Mail are not showing up.  I can view my Sent messges within the Gmail IMAP folders and in my Sent folders in my iPad and iPhone Mail apps.  What can I do?

Select the mailbox in the mailbox list, then select
    Mailbox ▹ Rebuild

Sounds like a limit of your ISP, as it's trying to put it back on the mailserver, which may not accept such a large file.
