Mail sever, two domains, separate user inboxes

We have two domains - one for personal emails and one for our company. I want to set up the mail server to keep incoming mail separated by domain and deliver via Imap to separate inboxes. So mail to [email protected] remains separate from mail to [email protected]
I can do this in my current ail server (Mdaemon/Windows) simply by creating the two domains and setting up the users in those domains (so there's a user nick in each domain with a separate login for that domain.
I might be missing somehting obvious, but I don't see how to do this in Maountain Lion Server. Any ideas please?

You're not the only one to have stumbled into this, and OS X Server arguably hasn't been particularly adept nor particularly clear about this, and the newer documentation and newer controls have gotten rather thinner.
The 10.6 Mail Service Administration manual describes how to do this, though the specific configuration files may have moved around since 10.6.  (I've become quite fond of the shell locate command here.  That command-line command initializes and accesses a database which makes finding the version-relocated files much easier.)  See the documentation around Mail virtual hosting starting around page 74, followed by the OS X Server-style and Postfix-style aliases, around page 77.
There's also the OS X Server 10.8 Workgroup Manager download, which can be useful here.

  • Send connector - e-mails from two domains to distinct anti-spam IPs

I have an Exchange enviroment that has two domains. I want that e-mails sent from a domain do the relay to an anti-spam, and e-mails sent from another domain do the relay to another anti-spam.
    Example:
I need to config send connector to send the e-mails from "test1.com" to IP 10.160.190.66 and from "test2.com" to IP 10.160.190.69
    How do I do?
I need this because each domain uses distincts anti-spam
    Tks.

    Hi,
Before going on, I would like to confirm the following information.
What's the version of the Exchange?
Whether the two domains have their own Exchange or share one Exchange?
    Thanks

  • How to restrict users sending/receiving mails to other domains in NMS

In an Extranet where five domains are there, how can I prevent users to send mail only between three domains from rest of the two domains, they should not have access. sometimes sending mail fails from the same host with multiple domains.

There is a provision in admin module where by the admin can deny or grant access to a user or a group of users for accessing or being denied.
It could be a service ,username or domain name to customize the users previlieges.

  • How to move old e-mail from iMac to shared MacMini - separate user accounts?

My wife and I share a new MacMini.  We each have separate user accounts.  She would like her old e-mail messages moved from her old iMac to the MacMini.  I believe they are in her old iMac's USER--LIBRARY--MAIL  directory.  Is this right?   Do I just copy these files and paste them in the same directory in the MacMini?
Also does anyone know how to move her old Keychain files on her old iMac to her user account on the macmini?
    Thanks for the help.   -Bruce

There are two issues when I do so. First of all I have "ghost" accounts who do not show up in my e-mail preferences but keep on showing up randomly. Secondly I cannot remove "other accounts" in Mail>Preferences I will get the following error message: The account "XXXX.XXXX.Com"  is shared using iCloud. You can remove this account from iCloud in Internet Accounts.
And in iCloud internet accounts the particular account will not be visible.

  • Exchange 2013 Give domain Admin access to all users inbox

In the old 2007 exchange server we had domain admin access to everyones mailbox so we could open anyones email box using outlook client.
But in 2013 exchange the mailbox delegation does not give us the option to add a "group" to the full access area, old allows to add a "user" who has a mailbox setup in exchange. I see there is Exchange Server group listed under Full Access
, but it does not work added our domain Admin user to that group rebooted exchange and the test machine but did not work.
Only option that works to allow mounting of xyz users mailbox via abc admin user is to actually add that abc admin user to the xyz mailbox under mailbox delegation > Full Access.
Is  there a work around this, so we can simply have a group ABCD with user ABC or DEF etc. etc. so they can access everyones mailbox instead of going in and changing all users mailbox delegation one by one for the new user etc. ?

Have you tried using the Exchange Management Shell?
    Get-Mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission -User Name_of_Group -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType All
Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
I did i tried get-mailboxpermission and other than NT Authority and the end user the Deny was set to True for all inheritance rights. I tried your command, added user to the group i wanted under Enterprise OU in AD and restarted transport on exchange and
logged in on the test machine again.
Still no go, the user I am trying to add when using get-mailboxpermission shows up as Denied for fullaccess so is that overriding the group permissions ?
    RunspaceId      : 2xxxxxxx0
    AccessRights    : {FullAccess}
    Deny            : True
    InheritanceType : All
    User            : domain\abc
    Identity        : domain/Users/xyzuser
    IsInherited     : False
    IsValid         : True
    ObjectState     : Unchanged
And for the group i just added with the above abc user inside it:
    RunspaceId      : 2xxxxxxxxx0
    AccessRights    : {FullAccess}
    Deny            : False
    InheritanceType : All
    User            : domain\newgroupadded
    Identity        : domain/Users/xyzuser
    IsInherited     : False
    IsValid         : True
    ObjectState     : Unchanged
So is the users deny is causing this ? Not really sure why ABC domain admin/enterprise admin is the only one listed as no deny, there are other mailbox users that do not show up, I am assuming I have to create a new user a domain local user and that might
work ? I wanted the Domain/Enterprise Manager/admin to have access so we would not have to keep toggling between users just to access someones inbox.
Also further down the list of mailboxpermission i see the user abc (the user i want to add to the group to have access) is listed with Full access and Deny flag is set to False instead of True.
So have two entries for user abc one with deny flag set to true and one with deny flag to false.
    AccessRights    : {FullAccess, DeleteItem, ReadPermission, ChangePermission, ChangeOwner}
    Deny            : False
    InheritanceType : All

  • How to merge parts of two iPhoto libraries and remain separate users

We have two user accounts - let's call them A and B - on our iMac and hence two separate libraries which is fine for the major part of our photos, but we have many photos of mutual adventures and hopefully more to come in the future. If this is relevant: the photos are imports from other computers, but are no longer available from these computers. There's a continuous backup on Time Capsule via Time Machine.
We would like to share the photos from the two existing accounts, except those that are from each users past.
I expect to have to move or copy some photos including new imports in the future to a new shared library AND keep our old libraries from the past separate as they are from the past.
I further more would like to share the photos from mutual adventures to to Apple TV - maybe via Airplay as I can already do with the iTunes library on account A.
It seems to me the best way would be to have a separate user account -  account C - for mutual iPhoto and our music in iTunes, BUT user A synchronize the music to my iPhone and user B does not yet. To complicate things - I think - user B has less storage on the iPhone than user A, so the full iTunes library simply does not fit on user B. I do realise it's possible to do selective synchronisation of music, but will this work in such a setup?
    How do I do this?

Thank you for a quick reply. Unfortunately this is turning out to be more complicated than I initially had hoped. Please see why in explanation below.
I would like to give more information about the setup, just to be absolutely sure there's no smart setup for us. As user A was the first user in our network this user has an iTunes id which is used for the Appstore/iTunes syncing iPhone/Airplay to share music and photos from user A's library. User A (unfortunately?) also has an iCloud id which is different from the iTunes id in order to use the iCloud sync features for Mail/iCal etc. User B has an iTunes id and a small music library, but is currently not using it. User B also has an iCloud id to use the sync features.
From your answers it seems there's no way to "get it all" (sharing, syncing, personal/mutual data) in our current setup and the whole iCloud/Air Play/sharing is a little confusing to me, but given that the primary purpose is to show the mutual photos as a screensaver on our iMac and Apple TV and play the music there too there are two ways to do this:
    1. your suggested setup with the extra library (to be shared via Airplay to Apple TV with an iTunes id assigned to the new Media user iTunes/iPhoto library). In this setup user B looses the ability to see photos on the iPad unless duplicates exist.
    2. copying all mutual photos for user A respectively B to two separate albums in the existing separate libraries and making these albums available as screensavers and sharing via Airplay, BUT with the limitation that only one user's album will be available at a time as screensaver and as far as the Apple TV goes the users two separate iTunes id's have to be used to access the album from one user at a time.
    Question:
Ref. 1 As I understand it iTunes purchases are linked to one id. So what are the consequences for a user if the iTunes id is in use for the Apple TV homesharing via Airplay and a logon is attempted on the user's iPhone?
Ref. 1 As I understand the sharing setup the iTunes id for user A with the most music must be the preferred one for the new Media user and the music library for user A must also be copied to the new Media user?
Ref. 2 As I said the whole iCloud/sharing/synchronizing issues are a little confusing. Given the above information with two separate iPhones, iTunes accounts, iCloud accounts and the wish to share photos/music
Do you see any smarter way to do this than your initial suggestion?

  • Sharing data between two separate user sessions

    Hi all!
I have been trawling my brain for a solution to this - any help will be appreciated!
I would like to create a single instance of a class but share that instance over more than one user session (two separate users but both running concurrently).
Just as you can pass data between sessions using ABAP memory - I would like to pass data (specifically an object reference) between two separate users that could even be logged in to two separate application servers...
Even a mini Client/server solution would suffice but I cannot figure one out!
    Is this possible?
Many thanks for your thoughts in advance...
    N

    Hello N K,
sorry thats not possible. Sharing a data item / object instance requires at least a common physical memory. As this is not guaranteed between different app. server this is technical not possible.
With release 640 ABAP offers the new feature Shared Objects. These mechanism allows access by different users and some propagation to differnt servers. There is an interesting article on the ABAP SDN homepage
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/developerareas/abap.sdn
For relases below more or less the database is the only chance to store data accross application servers (known to me). One exception might be the ENQUEUES which might (mis)used to store some Flags.
    Kind Regards

  • Virtual Mail Domains and Users

I'm having an issue with virtual hosts and mail hosts.  I have three domains lets call them domain1.com, domain2.com and domain3.com
now lets say I have a user russ and he wants to recive mail only at domain2.com is there anyway to just let him recieve mail at that domain?  becasue he also recives mail at domain1.com becasue it is the default domain.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
    Thank You,

Did you ever sort this properly or just go with your 'fix'?
I have set up our 10.5 mailserver and everything works fine for people with accounts on the server but forwarders to external mail accounts are not working properly.
Emails sent from an external source to a forwarding account on our server receive a bounce message with the errors...
    <[email protected]>: host mailserver.domain1.com[/var/imap/socket/lmtp]
said: 550-Mailbox unknown. Either there is no mailbox associated with this
550-name or you do not have authorization to see it. 550 5.1.1 User unknown
(in reply to end of DATA command)
    ...and...
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550-Mailbox unknown. Either there is no mailbox
associated with this 550-name or you do not have authorization to see it.
    550 5.1.1 User unknown
In this case '[email protected]' is an account on the mailserver set as a forwarder to '[email protected]'
Despite the sevder getting the bounce message the actual message is however forwarded and received by '[email protected]'

  • Does time capsule backup two separate users with their individual passwords or how do you set that up?

I Have two separate users on my computer and want the backups to reflect that. I don't want one user to have access to my stuff and vice versa.  Does time capsule do this automatically or do you set this up somehow?

TM does the whole computer.. it is designed for home setup.. where people not that worried about security.
It is always possible for any user to access any other users account.. given enough time and skill. TM backups make it easier in a way.. I have tested it myself and I can recover TM backups from unknown user in a Time Capsule with an unknown password. It was tricky but anyone with brains can read the net.
There are solutions.. as I said.. if you are worried you should be using Encryption. Never depend on passwords in a shared computer to prevent access.
If your files are encrypted then even if a person recovers them they cannot read them without the key.
It may need for your files to be on a separate partition.
See Pondini's info on file vault and interaction with Time Machine.
    http://pondini.org/TM/25.html
Of course for a person to hack in.. they have to want to do it.. in most people's home situation that is not a hassle.
For a business setup you would be using superior security.. proper active directory server etc.

  • One user receiving WINMAIL.DAT attachments from one or two domains

I have a single user in our organization that is RECEIVING WINMAIL.DAT attachments which contain PDF's from only one or two domains external to the organization.
Let me be clear that he is not sending out WINMAIL.DAT attachments to anyone. I have tested sending him RTF emails with a PDF attachment from an external address and he is receiving them just fine. We are running two Exchange 2013 servers in
HA configuration and this user is using Outlook 2010 for his email client. If he looks at these messages in OWA, they still have the WINMAIL.DAT attachment within OWA. I cannot find an answer for this anywhere, and this is not related to disabling TNEF on
our exchange servers.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I would really appreciate the assistance.
    Thanks,

    Hi
Did you try this article -
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278061/en-us
If the above article did not help then you can try the following
    1) Create an external contact for sender email address from whom the email is sent to the affected user.
Run the below command for that sender external contact
    Set-MailContact "External Contact" -UseMapiRichTexFormat Never
Ask the user to send email once again to that affected recipient and see if it still occurs.
Most likely the latter should fix your problem.

  • WHY does MAIL separate the "INBOX" from all the other mailboxes in acct?

up until 10.5 mail showed all the folders/mailboxes under the mail account MYACCT, for example.
I added a folder and mail insisted on changing the IMAP path.
NOW, it shows the INBOX under a section at the top MAILBOXES/Inbox
and all the other folders below ON MY MAC... separately under a heading of MYACCT.
this is a pain in the *... now I have to look 2 different places to check all the mail!
I've tried moving it. I can move it ABOVE the MAILBOXES/Inbox section, but NOT within that section.
Apple.. you are making me want to switch to windows. Mail has always been buggy... it is rapidly becoming intolerable. Even Outlook Express manages to keep all the folders for a given account together.

It's not actually a difficulty, it's that way by design. The actual IMAP servers usually store their folders as either folders on the same hierarchy as the inbox, or as subfolders of the inbox. On servers where the folders are stored as subfolders of the inbox, you'd actually see the folders on the server (if you could go and look at them) as something like INBOX, INBOX.folder1, INBOX.folder2, etc., or even .INBOX, .INBOX.folder1, .INBOX.folder2, etc. Such a server requires a path specified properly in order for the retrieving program to lay out the hierarchy properly.
OK. Now, in Mac's Mail.app, the default behavior when you have multiple mail accounts is to group all the inboxes up at the top (Inbox will have a triangle next to it and if you click it it will show all your accounts' inboxes there), and put the folder hierarchies below in sections named for the account under which they reside. That way, all your new mail appears up at the top. If it didn't do this, then if you had a large number of folders (I have about 50, each with subfolders) in one account, you'd not even be able to see the inbox for your second and third and fourth accounts on the same screen; you'd have to scroll down just to get to your inbox for those other accounts. Similarly, the Sent boxes, Trash boxes, and Junk boxes are grouped at the top as well, again, for ease of use when you have multiple accounts. (In fact, the actual name of your Sent box may not be "Sent" at all, but rather some folder that the imap server knows is for your sent stuff. For example, for .mac accounts, the Sent folder is actually called "Sent Messages" on the server. You can see this (but don't do this unless you're ready to revert back the way it was) if you choose another folder on that account, go to the Mailbox menu and choose "Use this folder for ..." and choose Sent. After doing that, the old folder Sent Messages will appear in your hierarchy, since it is no longer being used as the sent box, and the new one you just told Mail to use as Sent is now the one that appears in the Sent section up at the top (even though it's actual name is not shown).
So, when Mail.app insisted that it put INBOX in the path field, that's because it noted that all your folders are actually subfolders of INBOX, and it wanted to use its default behavior to put the inboxes up at the top with your folders in their own section below. By deleting the path, you've forced mail to place your folders as subfolders of the inbox, as they really are on the server.
One of my accounts recently switched servers, and switched its imap implementation from having folders on the same level as inbox to having them as subfolders of the inbox. When the switch happened, all my folders moved under the inbox, preventing me from even seeing the inboxes for my other accounts! By putting in the path INBOX, they went back to their own section below.
Ultimately it's a matter of convenience for you, of course. If you have only one account, then it doesn't matter much whether your folders are under your inbox or in a different section. But as soon as you have more than one account, I think you'll find that keeping folders under your inbox is somewhat awkward. But it shouldn't hurt anything to do it the way you're doing it.
Also, with the new ability to create ToDos and Notes, you'll find they're put in their own section called Reminders, which again group by account. On the server, Todos are actually in a folder of their own called "Apple To Do" and notes are in their own folder "Notes". Yours must also appear under your Inbox, since you deleted the path which would allow Mail to place them "properly" in their own section.
Again, it's up to you how to handle things, but I know some people have found that they can't even access their mail correctly if the path field is not correctly filled in. That yours works is great, but it may not always continue to do so, so just keep in mind you might some day have to put in "INBOX" in the path field to get your mail to work right.

  • How do I separate the inboxes on my 2 email accounts.

I have office and personal accounts on my Iphone. under the old version of the operating system, I could keep them completely separate. Now, my home emaill is merged in the inbox...the deleted items are separated into two accounts, however. If it isn't possible to separate the inboxes, how do I uninstall IOS 7?

    Hello barbaraataaae
Just click the Mailboxes button in the upper left hand corner. From there you should be able to see all the accounts and go between them instead of having the unified inbox

  • Can I have two Domain in one network?

I have two Server in my office in same network.
Server A is Active Directory / Domain Server. Certain user join domain and connect to this server.
Server B is File Server. The other user just use Workgroup. But now this server want to Up Domain to be Domain Server.
But user that connect to the domain Server A will not connect to domain server B and user connect to domain server B will not connect to domain server A.
Is there any problem if I setup two domain in one network?
    Please Advise.

Domains are logical structure of your network. Yes you can create two domains in the same network. One thing you should consider in this scenario is trusts between your domains. By default separate domains have not any trusts between each other and you should
establish trust manually if you would like to have users in A authenticated in domain B.

  • One domain, multiple users

I use iWeb with MobileMe/iDisk to host www.mydomain.com with no problems. I use the custom domain feature in MobileMe and the domain is registered with GoDaddy. I would like to set up a subdomain for my brother so that he could use iWeb from his own computer to publish to hisname.mydomain.com using whatever method would work best. I know how to set up the subdomain forwarding but the thing that I can't figure out is if there is any way for him to publish his web site to my iDisk. The only thing I can come up with would be to give him my password and then have him publish the site to a folder in iWeb.
I also have a MobileMe family pack with an unused account. Is there some way that this could help me? I could give him his own account and he could publish it to his own iDisk but then the URL isn't going to look right? Any suggestions are appreciated. Has anyone else come up with a good solution for letting multiple users publish to the same domain from different computers with iWeb?

    Hello Chet,
MobileMe only supports one personal domain per MobileMe login.
If your goal is to give your brother his own personal domain (www.example.com) for use with his own iWeb site then assigning him his own MobileMe member name from your family pack would be the way to go.
If you are both using the same computer, make sure he is using iWeb and publishing from a separate user account. Publish from one user login to two separate MobileMe member names can get confusing.
    Hope that helps
