MailSent.log File Missing
I am working on a client site that has MX7 installed and for
some reason they are having problems with email. So my first
thought, check out the mail.og and mailsent.log files in CFIDE. All
good for the mail.log file but there is no mailsent.log file in my
log files list. Err, where has it gone?
So I thought, maybe someone has deleted it. I would have
thought though that it would delete the contents not the file. And
if they did, how do I recreate it?
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I´ve done a stupid mistake, I hope anybody can help me now:
I have reorganized the hard disks of my pc and unfortunally formatted a seemingly unessential disk.
Now, my Basis-System (MaxDB 7.6.00.35) is crashing when starting the database:
VOLUMEIO Could not open volume 'F:sapdbP00saplogDISKL001', rc = 2
IOMan Attach error on log volume 1: could not open volume
Stupidly I have never done a backup of this file, because I thought, the log file residents on another disk.
The database is using "Override mode for log area ON".
I would be very grateful if anybody ca give my a hint what to do now.
Kind regards
Volker>

Hi Volker,
Usually you don't make backups of this file as you usually never backup any files of MaxDB.
What you may do right now is this:
1. Perform a full data backup of the Database in ADMIN MODE. You can do this easily with the DBMGUI.
2. Once you have the full data backup, you need to perform a "Recovery with Initialization". This will recreate missing Log-Files.
3. After you've sucessfully recovered the database, I highly recommend to install the current patch (7.6.05) as the version you use is very old.
Best regards,

Oblix v7 audit log file missing
Hi,
I'm using oblix v7.
I have enabled audit logs and specified the file name as: C:\audit33.txt
But on the machine there is no such file. It is somehow missing.
The same configuration works on another machine.
Any idea why the audit log file is missing?
Thanks.

Go to Solution.Try deleting cache files from browser, purge deleed emails from deleted mails inbox.
You can also go to Nokia Store and download NetQin Mobile Guard 3.0. It optimizes the OS deleting junk files, and so many other features. Very useful.

Log files missing interfaces transitions
For some reason I'm not seeing any log messages showing when interfaces trasitions from up to down or down to up. Primarily this is on the 4507R's we have but I have also noticed this on mnay of the other switches and routers even though I have logging set to informational.

(will it recover automatically/db abort/even redo log lost will the DB run as usual... ?)
-How to recover this lost redo log?
- What will happen if 1 control file missing when starting the DB?

(will it recover automatically/db abort/even control file lost will the DB run as usual... ?)
-How to recover this lost redo log?
thanks- What will happen if 1 redo log file missing when starting the DB?IF you have multiplexed the members you can drop the lost file and will be able to open the DB
What will happen if 1 redo log file missing when using(performing operations) the DB?Again if multiplexed it will drop a warinign in the alert log and contnue to write on othere members

Check what datafile locations and redo log file locations you specify when creating the new database. Check if you have permissions and enough disk space.

Missing current redo log files
hello to all
i have a question please if you can guide me.
if i lose all current redo log files (current redo log group files) how i can repair it and open
database ? (i don't have problem by missing INACTIVE redo group)
thanksHi,
>>if i lose all current redo log files (current redo log group files) how i can repair it and
open database ? (i don't have problem by missing INACTIVE redo group)Well, It depends. The database was active when the current log file was lost ? Are you using RMAN ? The database is operating in ARCHIVELOG mode or NOARCHIVEMOG mode ? Basically, an incomplete recovery is necessary when there is a loss of the current redo log files. It means that you don’t have all the redo log files up to the point of failure, so the only alternative is[b] to recover prior to the point of failure. To perform incomplete recovery after the redo log files have been lost, you do the following (if you are not using RMAN):
1) Execute a SHUTDOWN command and restore all data files (*.dbf) from most recent backup.
2) Execute a STARTUP MOUNT command to read the contents of the control file.
3) Execute a RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL CANCEL command to start the recovery process.
SQL> startup mount;
4) Execute a RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL CANCEL command to start the recovery process.
SQL> recover database until cancel;
5) Apply the necessary archived logs up to, but not including, the lost or corrupted log.
6) Open the database and reset the log files.
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
7) Shut down the database.
SQL> shutdown normal;
8) Take a full cold backup
In resume, for more information, take a look at [url http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/recoscen008.htm#sthref1872]Recovering After the Loss of Online Redo Log Files: Scenarios

installs OK, starts up, and serves pages as expected. Only
trouble is, the log files are going into the bit bucket -

Any suggestions?Hi,
did you have found out why the log files were missing ? I have the problem that wlserver is not starting and no any log files are generated.

imp system/systempass@my_instance fromuser=user01 touser=user01 file=D:\my_dump.dmp log=D:\my_log.log
the import works fine and the log file is created but informations like start time and end time are missed in the log file!!!
is there any way to add those informations to the log file?
Thxtry

Transaction Log File Drive is missing from SAN
HI all,, we had some SAN issues and we dont have Transaction Log files for some databases..
This is SQL Server 2008 R2 Cluster.. The drive which was holding this Tlog files were missing.. PLease let me know, how to bring back databases.. Awaiting for early reply..As others have said, the SAN folks needs to get their act together and bring back disk with the log files.
If the log files are truly lost, you should restore a clean backup. If you don't have a clean backup, well, there are some people in your company that are likely to ask you some questions of what is going on the data centre.
It was suggested that you should detach the data file and reattach it to have a new log file created. I strongly recommend against this. You will get a database that is likely to have corruption and inconsistency on both SQL Server level and application,
due to transactions that were in flight when the log files were lost.

SubbuHello Subbu,
> I have taken backup yesterday monrning in Archive log mode but have lost all the archive log files.
You mean you have taken an online backup and lost all your archive log files after that online backup?
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
Error: ORA-01113: file 1 needs media recovery
ORA-01110: data file 1: 'E:\oracle\'<SID>\sapdata1\SYSTEM_1\SYSTEM.DATA1'
SQL> recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;

ORA-00289 : Suggestion E:\ORACLE\<SID>\ORAARCH\<SID>ARCHARC03020_0683715008.001
ORA-00280: change 266277189 for thread 1 is in sequence #3020
To perform a recovery with an online backup you will need all archive log files until the end of the online backup. If you have lost them you are not able to recover (or open) your database in a consistent state.
So the only suggestion we can do is:
You need the archive log files that were created during the online backup to perform an incomplete recovery ... if they are gone you can not restore your database.

Httpd error log file appears to be missing
I'm having a somewhat frustrating and seemingly elementary problem with the Server, as freshly installed. I did drag a Web Config.plist to restore the web settings from another server, and I have a feeling that this action might have caused a hiccup where the web server won't start. My symptoms are as follows:
with no sites in the Sites list, when I click Start Service for Web Service, I get a dialog:
A service has encourntered an error. / Try to refresh the view (server.address.here/Web). Report the problem to the administrator if it persists. (could not start web service - details in error log).
Now here's what's frustrating... I can't find an httpd error log. the folder /var/log/httpd/ is where I would expect this log to be, but this folder is empty. There's an Apple KB article that says the httpd error log file should be at /var/log/httpd/ ( you can check it out at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=ServerAdmin/10.4/en/c5ws4.html ), but no such log file exists. (I verified with terminal and also looked with Console: saw no log entries under the httpd line [there is a disclose triangle that discloses no lines] )
On a whim, I thought maybe the /var/log/httpd folder didn't have the right permissions, so I increased my permissions on this older form 0755 to 0757, so that it now reads:
drwxr-xrwx 2 root wheel 68 Mar 27 2005 httpdd
... but upon retesting the Start Service button under Web service, I get the same error and can find no log file.
Like I said, this is a freshly installed copy of OS X 10.4 Server (I have not even upgraded to Server 10.4.10, should I ?) and all I did was an Open Directory configuration (which works), and then dragged a Web Config.plist onto Server Admin to restore saved settings from another machine...
any thoughts on what I should try next?
Thanks, any advice is appreciated.Recently updated Developer preview and WebObjects. After trying
sudo apachectl configtest
this checks apache configuration sintax.
If nothing fails try to start apache (sudo apachectl graceful)
and take a look at system.log.
discovered that /System/Library/WebObjects/Adaptors/Apache/apache.conf no longer existed.
As root renamed apache.conf.old as apache.conf and restarted. Life is good again.
Your mileage may vary. -
