Main picture doesnt change, just thumbnail?
hi.
i've got the trial version of lightroom 1.2, fantastic software... when it works! im having a problem in that, when I first open an image in LR I can go about editing it fully and I can see the visible changes in terms of exposure, fill light, brightness, contrast etc... but when I zoom in to see smaller things like sharpness and noise reduction and then zoom out again and try and change things they don't show up!
I can see the changes occurring on the small thumbnail at the bottom and top left just not in the main picture? have I accidentally changed any settings, because its very weird!
also, sometimes the thumbnail in the top left isnt there, and clicking the dropdown for navigation doesnt bring it back?

Bbm display picture doesnt change
Recently, I tried to change the Bbm dp in my z10, it changes for me but my friends cannot see any update.
It's been 2 weeks my Bbm dp is stuck for my friends.
I tried everything. Removing battery, restart, bla bla. I read somewhere I can reload the OS. But that will delete everything I don't wanna do that.
Can anyone help please. How can i solve this? Is there a way to reinstall Bbm messenger in z10?

How do I change the thumbnail preview picture
How do I change the thumbnail preview picture? I've got a 3d model and I want a particular view to be the thumbnail picture as well as the default view. I believe I've done that before but cannot figure out how I did it.
I'm working with pages that are comprised only one picture of a 3d object (a table). I really believe I was able to change the thumbnail to a particular point of view but can't remember how I did it. It's been so long that I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure I was able to.

My images will not show in the Finder Pictures folders, but just display as jpeg thumbnails. I have to open each one to see what photo it is. This has just recently started to happen.
I made sure the 'Show Icon Preview' box was checked. This is about all I can do, really, Frank, as i don't know enough about the workings of these machines to start fiddling about.
Strangely the images show as previews in some folders, yet not in others, even though they come from the same sources (my camera and my phone). -
Thumbnail - Yes: Main picture - No.What's happened?
I imported a JPEG picture from an AppleMail attachment. Drag and Drop. This has always worked successfully in the past. This one picture appears as a thumbnail, I double click to edit, the picture briefly flashes at full size then the screen goes black. This doesn't happen with any other pictures. The information book still contains all the details of the picture even with a black screen. Can anyone help please?

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

How do I use Actionmanager code to change just the contents of a line of text?
The quick question - can anyone provide me with Action Manager code that will simply change the contents of a text field in Photoshop CS6?
The long version, if anyone wants to know:
I'm a reasonably experienced Applescripter with hundreds of Illustrator and Photoshop applescripts, but I don't know javascript at all.
I have a script I'm doing currently that just deletes, changes the visibility, and/or changes the text contents of a whole bunch of layers.
It's running just fine in Applescript, except it runs slower than molasses. I went to so much work to automate this stuff - the script's 750 lines with all the logic - and users are telling me that they can do this by hand in the time the script runs. It really does take as long as a minute, which just feels painful. It deletes about 25 layers, changes the text contents of up to 5 layers, and changes the visibility of maybe 2 to 24 layers.
I tested the logic parts and they're near instantaneous. Replacing all of that and just plugging in static dummy values for the variables, and the Photoshop updates yield the same speed. For some reason, just telling Photoshop to do these things - feeding it a list of layers to delete and text to change, just takes it forever. Just a bunch of lines like: delete layer [whatever] of layer [whatever] of layer [whatever] or:
set the contents of text object of art layer "Name" of layer set "Editable Text" of layer set "Header Elements" to "Some Text:" & someVariableText
So I've been taking out the Photoshop calls in Applescript, and replacing them with calls to subroutines that replay Action Manager code I got from Scripting Listener and then plugging in the relevant variables.
So far so good on the deleting layers, that part runs 20x faster now.
On the text layer part - scripting listener records 1,011 lines of code when I change just the contents of a text field.
What's recorded has everything about the appearance baked in. With Applescript, I could set the contents of a text field only, leaving the existing formatting, which was really handy. But if I use a call to my scripting listener code here, I'm going to have to save a different 1,000 line subroutine function for every text style of a text field I want to change, and then the script will be horribly non-future-proof.
Not knowing Javascript, trying to deconstruct the 1,011 line monstrosity Scripting Listener spits out to get to something that just changes the character contents of the text field is not happening. I tried a bit, but it's way over my head.

You CANNOT change your iCloud email address once it is created and associated to you Apple Id (usually it is another email address). First time you activate iCloud on your device and turn on email setting, you are prompted to create an iCloud email account and after choosing one that is available you are CLEARLY warned that ONCE CREATED YOU iCLOUD EMAIL IT CANNOT BE CHANGED!!!

You have two choices: a) create an alias for that account after you sign in icloud.com using either your apple id or your new created icloud email account (that's what I did) or b) create a new Apple Id (with all the pain it involves)
I typed an incorrect iCloud email address and was linked to my Apple Id and now I have to live with this forever!?
The workaround was to create an alias, but I have the feeling that something is wrong with my Apple Id
All of us might make a petition to apple to allow us to change the 'main' icloud email address. What if I misspelled it!? How difficult can it be?

Is there a way to change the thumbnails for movies/videos?
This may be more of a Leopard question, but I'm wondering if there's a way to change the thumbnail that OSX and Front Row display of movie files. I think this feature is awesome but would love to have more control over it so I can pick a frame from the video that relevant to me. Imagine Front Row's menu for movies with a bunch of thumbnails that are title screens or your favorite scenes from your movie collection (rather than a random thumbnail that may or may not even be identifiable to that movie).
I've already included this request to Apple in a suggestion I sent along including a few other Front Row requests/suggestions I had including movie/video playlists, album art support over streaming/shared libraries, and music that doesn't stop playing when you return to the main menu.It appears that "saving" doesn't impact the quality, but wraps the file up in the .mov format (size and quality appear to stay the same). It worked ("saving" instead of using the save as a reference movie seems to fix the starting playback from the poster-frame issue). However, now a new issue has come up... I like to save the files to DVD as the original .avi so they will play on our Philips DVD players. However, being wrapped up in .mov means I have to have two versions of the file, and if my HDD ever dies or fills up I'll have to always correct the poster frame, and save another copy from the .avi original. Kind of frustrating... I wish Front Row/Quick Time would let you easily change the thumbnail and not have to change the format, etc.

I have a problem with an XML form I made a while ago. I made a simple news scenario and it all worked fine. Now I just want to add a label with some text above the form. Now when I do this and preview its shows fine, but how much i generate and save it doesnt change in my Portal. Anyone has a clue of what im doing wrong? Thanks!

Encore CS4: changing one thumbnail in flowchart changes all
Working in the flowchart, I have proper links between menu buttons and chapter thumbnails. But in attempting to set end actions and overrides, whatever I do to one thumbnail appears in all of them! Have I inadvertantly triggered some setting that locks all of my chapter thumbnails together? This happens whether I'm using the pick whip or dropdown menus.
A clearer example: I set the end action on the final chapter as return to the main menu. But the thumbnail for that now appears as a link from the first chapter and all the chapters now return to the main menu when completing play.
Any ideas? I've created projects before where the flowchart behaved normally, so I'm in the dark about what I've done wrong.Thanks for the response, Stan. It does seem to be acting like all thumbnails are selected. Here's what the process looks like:
All Chapter thumbs appear to have a slight highlight, however the Chapter 3 highlight is more vivid. That's the one I have selected. When I change the End Action option to "Return To Last Menu"...
...all chapters have that option changed. Note that now Chapter 2 is highlighted and the optioned is changed.
Perhaps this reveals something: When I drag a link from the timeline in the project menu to the Chapter 12 thumb (which should, I think, produce the action of beginning the video all over again when Chapter 12 completes) instead of adding a thumb after Chapter 12 indicating that action, it adds it to Chapter 1:
Same thing happens when I drag a link from a chapter marker in the timeline. No matter what chapter thumb I drag it to, it links after Chapter 1.
I have used this technnique in other projects with success. Not sure what is happening here, but I went to my chapter playlist like you suggested and , like you said, there I can create individual actions for the chapters without affecting them all! My question now is, am I using the playlist properly? See below:
I can make my desired end action changes in the left window (Master Timeline) but not in the right (Chapter Playlist). Am I using this correctly?
Sorry to make this so exhaustive, but you're my only reply and you seem to know what you're doing. I guess the best thing is to explain exactly what I'm seeking to do: I want to have users click Play All and have the video play through all chapter and return to the menu. If they click on individual chapter buttons, however, I want that chapter to play and then return to the menu. Can you tell me the most expeditious way to do this?
I'm sure my confusion is the product of ADHD-driven learning of Encore piecemeal as I go, instead of systematically educating myself through the tutorials. There's a lesson here somewhere!

Can I simply move my main pictures folder to External Hard Drive?
My pictures folder contains all my catalogues and all my photos that are stored in Lightroom 3. I am running out of internal storage space, so I need to get an external hard drive.
Is it possible for me to simply move my Main Pictures folder, which contains all the photos and catalogues to the external hard drive, and still be able to use those photos in Lightroom just like before?What he means is inside LR, you'll have to rebind the location of the images.
After you move your image folders (and one assumes, the images) to your external drive, the next time you start up LR you will have a bunch of '?'s marking the images and folders. Do not panic!
LR runs a database about your images, including the locations. If you move your images in the OS, it won't tell LR that you've moved them. So when you start up LR again, you have to tell it.
In the left menu in LR, you should see your drives and folders. Right-click on the top most/left most folder, and select "find missing folder" and browse to your new location. If you kept the same folder structure (i.e., you just dragged your top folder onto your new hard drive) then LR will reconnect all the folders "below" it in one swoop.
If you reorganized as well, then you'll have to reconnect them the hard way. Next time, do folder reorganizations within LR, and that won't happen.
I move folders in the OS instead of LR, it's faster. But I keep the same format, so I only have to reconnect the top level folder!

Suddenly the contents of the events folders in iphoto is displayed with single pictures only, and not thumbnails. I wasn't aware I had changed any settings, but having looked at all the settings I cannot figure out how to change the display back. Anyone know what has happened?
Does the zoom slider down left of the iPhoto Window help?

Lock screen backround doesnt change!

The lock screen on my ipod touch 2nd generation doesnt change. I download backgrounds, use my pictures, and it doesnt change! I even restored it, but it still stays the same. Help please?It doesn't change unless you change it yourself. Use Settings -> General -> Wallpaper and pick something. The pictures you save from the Backgrounds App will be found in your Saved Photos.
