Maintanence and Help Views!!!!!!

Hello folks,
I have 2 requirements here.
1. I have to create a maintanence view over two tables. For example, I have a table zmara as master data table with material field and zmakt as a material description table. Now I have to create a maintanence view on top of these two tables. If I make an entry for a new material in this view the two tables should be updated.
Can anybody tell me how to do that??
2. How to create a help view??
Points for sure will be rewarded.
Thanks

Naren,
Use SE11 abd choose VIEW Option.
Give View, a Name and choose CREATE.
A small screen with the options
     1. Database View
     2. Projection view
     3. Maintenance View
     4. Help view
   will be displayed.
Choose the required option (either Maintenance View
   or Help view).
And proceed with givening base tables and Join Fileds and View Fields.
Thanks
Kam

A function group in SE80 transaction
    1>go to se54 transaction.
2>give the name of the table /view starting from z.
    3>select "Generated Objects" radio button.
    4>click on "create/change" push button.
5>you get a pop asking you whether to create modules ,click on YES
    6>give "authorization group" as temp.
7>give the function group name created by you.
8>click on "find Scr numbers "push button on the application tool bar.

Database views are implemented with an equivalent view on the database.
Projection views are used to hide fields of a table (only projection).
Database views should be created if want to select logically connected data from different tables simultaneously.
Database views implement an inner join.
Application programs can access the data of a database view using the database interface. (Just as we write select queries on database tables, we can write them for views as well.)
    Includes in Database Views
An entire table can be included in a database view. In this case all the fields of the included table will become fields of the view (whereby you can explicitly exclude certain fields).
To include one of the tables in the view, enter character * in field View field, the name of the table to be included in field Table and character * again in field Field name on the View fields tab page of the maintenance screen of the view.
You can also exclude individual fields of an included table. If you do not want to include a field of the included table in the view, enter - in field View field, the name of the included table in field Table and the name of the field to be excluded in field Field name.
    Inserts with Database Views
If a database view contains only one single table, data can be inserted in this table with the view .
You have the following options for the contents of the table fields not contained in the view:
If the field is defined on the database with NOT NULL as initial value, the field is filled with the corresponding initial value.
If the field is defined on the database as NOT NULL without initial value, an insert is not possible. This results in a database error.
If the field is not defined on the database as NOT NULL, there will be a NULL value in this field.
A maintenance view permits you to maintain the data of an application object together.
The maintenance status determines which accesses to the data of the underlying tables are possible with the maintenance view.
Read only: Data can only be read through the view.
Read, change, delete, insert: Data of the tables contained in the view can be
changed, deleted, and inserted through the view.
Read and change: Existing view entries can be changed. However, records
    cannot be deleted or inserted.
Read and change (time-dependent views): Only entries whose non-time
dependent part of the key is the same as that of existing entries may be
    inserted.
    Maintenance View ( SE54 )
You can use a maintenance view to maintain data, which is distributed over several tables, at the same time.
Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.

  • Disable file manager and help viewer

    Hi,
I am using Solaris 8. Every time I login to the workstation, the filemanager, help viewer and perfomance winodws popup. Is anybody know how to disable them?
    Thanks in advance.

That configuration has been saved as your home session. If you have been shutting down from a command line, your current session desktop is not saved. Close all the apps and click on EXIT and logoff the session. If you log back on and the settings remain, you will have to manually set your home session and/or desktop update options. I am not at a Solaris machine right now so repost if this solution did not solve your problem and I will post the sequence of events for setting the home session when I can verify them on a Solaris machine.

  • How to create help view

    hai,
    how to create help view

    Views
    Importance/Use of Views
Data for an application object is often distributed on several database tables. Database systems therefore provide you with a way of defining application-specific views on the data contained in several tables. These are called views.
Data from several tables can be combined in a meaningful way using a view (join). You can also hide information that is of no interest to you (projection) or only display those data records that satisfy certain conditions (selection).
A view is a logical view on one or more tables, that is, a view is not actually physically stored, instead being derived from one or more other tables.
The data of a view can be displayed exactly like the data of a table in the extended table maintenance.
    Join, Projection and Selection
    CROSS PRODUCT
Given two tables TABA and TABB. Table TABA has 2 entries and table TABB has 4 entries
Each record of TABA is first combined with each record of TABB. If a join condition is not defined, the cross product of tables TABA and TABB is displayed with the view.
    Join condition
A join condition describes how the records of the two tables are connected.
    Inner Join and Outer Join
The data that can be selected with a view depends primarily on whether the view implements an inner join or an outer join.
With an inner join, you only get the records of the cross-product for which there is an entry in all tables used in the view.
With an outer join, records are also selected for which there is no entry in some of the tables used in the view. (ABAP allows left outer join.)
The data that can be selected with a view depends primarily on whether the view implements an inner join or an outer join.
    Projection
Sometimes some of the fields of the tables involved in a view are not of interest. The set of fields used in the view can be defined explicitly (projection). In our example, Field 4 is of no interest and can be hidden.
We specify the fields which we need to show in our view by including them under the view flds tab when creating a view in the dictionary.
    +Selection Conditions+
Selection conditions that are used as a filter can be defined for a view.
Specifying these conditions under the Selection conditions tab when creating a view in the dictionary would have an effect which is similar to specifying a where clause when writing a select query to restrict data.
    View Types
Four different view types are supported. These differ in the way in which the view is implemented and in the methods permitted for accessing the view data .
Database views are implemented with an equivalent view on the database.
Projection views are used to hide fields of a table (only projection).
Help views can be used as selection method in Search help.
Maintenance views permit you to maintain the data distributed on several tables for one application object at one time.
    Database Views
    Projection Views
Projection views are used to hide fields of a table. This can minimize interfaces; for example when you access the database, you only read and write the field contents actually needed
For the above diagram, fields F3 and F4 are irrelevant, and therefore hidden from the projection view of the table.
    Maintenance Views
A maintenance view permits you to maintain the data of an application object together.
The maintenance status determines which accesses to the data of the underlying tables are possible with the maintenance view.
    Maintenance Status
The maintenance status of a view controls whether data records can also be changed or inserted in the tables contained in the view.
The maintenance status can be defined as follows:
Read only: Data can only be read through the view.
Read, change, delete, insert: Data of the tables contained in the view can be
changed, deleted, and inserted through the view.
Read and change: Existing view entries can be changed. However, records
    cannot be deleted or inserted.
Read and change (time-dependent views): Only entries whose non-time
dependent part of the key is the same as that of existing entries may be
    inserted.
    Help Views
Help view is created if a view with outer join is needed as selection method of a search help.
Help views are used exclusively for search helps.
A conventional database view selects data from the database using an inner join.
For a help view however, data is selected using a left outer join.
Eg-> Suppose table SCARR (Airline master table) has AA – American airlines
    AB – Air Berlin
AC- Air Canada as three entries.
Table SPFLI (Flight schedule) has entries corresponding only to airlines AA (American airlines) and AB (Air Berlin).
Now if a database view were to be used as a selection method for a search help for airlines, we would only get AA and AB as possible entries because the database view implements an inner join…….If however, we were to use a help view as the selection method here, we would get AA,AB and AC as possible entries because a help view would implement a left outer join.
Restrictions for Maintenance and Help Views
There are some restrictions for selecting the secondary tables of a maintenance view or help view. The secondary tables have to be in an N:1 dependency to the primary table or directly preceding secondary table. This ensures that there is at most one dependent record in each of the secondary tables for a data record in the primary table.
    Append Views
Append views are used for enhancements of database views of the SAP standard.
With an append view, fields of the base tables of the view can be included in the view without modifications. This is analogous to enhancing a table with an append structure.
An append view is assigned to exactly one database view. More than one append view can be created for a database view.
The append technique described can only be used for database views. With an append view, only new fields from the base tables contained in the view can be inserted in the view. You cannot insert new tables in the view or modify the join conditions or selection conditions of the view.

  • Broken help viewer...

My help viewer dosent show anything... it pops up and nothing, just a blank help viewer... How do I fix this?

I'm having the same frustrating problem with Help Viewer on my brand new G5. I never did find com.apple.helpui in the preferences folder in the first place.
Trashing com.apple.helpui.plist and com.apple.helpviewer.plist from preferences and the com.apple. helpui folder from caches, and then unselecting iTunes helper from startup items, then restarting sometimes does make the initial helpviewer screen pop up, and sometimes even the index link and the searchbox is responsive. But any links after that don't seem to do anything.
When I check caches, com.apple.helpui is there, and in preferences I'll see com.apple.helpviewer.plist, but com.apple.help.plist and com.apple.helpui.plist are missing.
Disconnecting from the internet does not seem to make any difference.
I tried using Pacifist to re-install all help-related files I could find (com.apple.helpviewer.plist, helpUI.framwork and Help Viewer.app), but again no luck, and the two files mentioned above are still missing.
    Aaaaarrrggghhh! Any ideas?
    Hi Nathan,
Yes, Mac Help is too sensitive to interruptions or
    being too impatient.
Usual fix to this common problem is:
Try first (quit Help) deleting this folder:
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui
If Help still doesn't work, try then deleting those
    files:
    Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist
    Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.help.plist
    (and
    Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpui.plist
    for those who use Panther)

  • Diff bt Help view and Maintanence view

    hi gem's
i need the diff bt Help view and Maintanence view with example...............

    Hi
The followings are different types of views:
    - Database View (SE11)
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
    - Help View ( SE54)
Help views are used to output additional information when the online help system is called.
When the F4 button is pressed for a screen field, a check is first made on whether a matchcode is defined for this field. If this is not the case, the help view is displayed in which the check table of the field is the primary table. Thus, for each table no more than one help view can be created, that is, a table can only be primary table in at most one help view.

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/cf/21ecf9446011d189700000e8322d00/frameset.htm
Difference between "Help View" and "Search Help"
    - Projection View
Projection views are used to suppress or mask certain fields in a table (projection), thus minimizing the number of interfaces. This means that only the data that is actually required is exchanged when the database is accessed.
A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.
    - Maintenance View ( SE54 )
Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.

    Customer Number:

    Order Detail:
Line number | Order No | Order description | Order StatusWhy don't you do this?
    1) Build a dashboard prompt for Customer Number. and save to a PV.
    2) Build a report with all the columns for customer and order (in Criteria View) with a filter for the PV to capture the dashboard prompt.
    3) Build a pivot table with Customer Number and Customer Name in the Rows section. Put the Customer Address in the Measures section and change the Aggregation Rule to Max.
This will serve as the summary table showing only the information of the customer selected.
    2) Build Pivot Table:2 with the Order details.
    3) In the Compound Layout, put Pivot table one on the top and Pivot Table:2 below it.
When a customer is selected, you will have the customer data with the order details under it for that customer only.

  • Why are iTunes, View, Window, and Help menu items disabled?

I am frequently encountering an issue in iTunes 10.5 (141) where all the menu items in the iTunes, View, Window, and Help menus are disabled (greyed out). Why is this happening and can it be stopped?
I've seen this issue on different Mac OS X 10.7.2 machines. It seems to occur during playlist manipulation, where I'm making new playlists, adding items to them and editing them and the items. In the worst cases, I'm forced to quit and restart iTunes, although I have to quit by using the context menu option in the Dock as the Quit option is disabled in the application.
I'd appreciate any advice on workarounds for this that don't involve quitting and restarting iTunes.

I'm also having the same issue.  It was happening with 10.5.1 and now still with 10.5.2.  I'm using a 2008 iMac running 10.6.8.  I do not use iTunes Match.  This seems to happen for no apparent reason i/o/w, I can't determine a pattern as to when it happens, but it occurs about once in every 10 times that iTunes is open and it seems to happen after it's been open for a while, but again, no particular pattern.
Sometimes, all the menu items are grayed out, and other times, 70% of the menu items are grayed out.  I can still use the other functionality in iTunes, but must must Quit from the dock (it quits gracefully and no Force Quit is necessary).  Relaunching restores eveything to normal for about a week.
I work with technical diagnostic issues and can usually pinpoint a problem, isolate an issue, or determine a pattern, but this one has me stumped. I thought 10.5.2 might fix it, but no.  Maybe 10.5.3?

  • Help with query rewrite and materialized views

    Hello everybody,
I'm currently learning how to use Oracle (10G Enterprise) and in particular, Materialized Views.
I seem to have a problem making the optimizer use a materialized view. I have already set the OPTIMIZER_MODE, QUERY_REWRITE_ENABLED and QUERY_REWRITE_INTEGRITY as needed.
I need to create a materialized view for the following query:
    Q1:
    SELECT PS_SUPPKEY, PS_PARTKEY, PS_SUPPCOST
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER E, PART WHERE PS_PARTKEY=P_PARTKEY and (lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_a\%'' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_u\%'')
    and PS_SUPPCOST =
    (SELECT min( PS_SUPPCOST)
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER I
    WHERE E.PS_PARTKEY=I.PS_PARTKEY)'
I created it using the following code:
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW mv_q1
    ENABLE QUERY REWRITE
    AS SELECT PS_SUPPKEY, PS_PARTKEY, PS_SUPPCOST
FROM PARTSUPPLIER E JOIN PART ON (PS_PARTKEY=P_PARTKEY)
    WHERE lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE '_o_a%' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE '_o_u%'
    and PS_SUPPCOST=
    (SELECT min( PS_SUPPCOST)
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER I
    WHERE E.PS_PARTKEY=I.PS_PARTKEY);
I have created the statistics using:
    execute dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('frandres',' mv_q1');
    execute dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('frandres','PARTSUPPLIER');
    execute dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('frandres','PART');
Both partsupplier and part are tables and not views.
When executing Q1, the plan does not use the materialized view. Furthermore, when using explain rewrite:
    DECLARE
    qrytxt VARCHAR2(3000) := 'SELECT PS_SUPPKEY, PS_PARTKEY, PS_SUPPCOST
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER E, PART WHERE PS_PARTKEY=P_PARTKEY and (lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_a\%'' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_u\%'')
    and PS_SUPPCOST =
    (SELECT min( PS_SUPPCOST)
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER I
    WHERE E.PS_PARTKEY=I.PS_PARTKEY)';
    BEGIN
    dbms_mview.EXPLAIN_REWRITE
    (qrytxt,'MV_Q1','MV_Q1');
    END;
    I get the following message:
    MESSAGE
    QSM-01150: query did not rewrite
QSM-01263: query rewrite not possible when query references a dictionary table o
    r view
QSM-01219: no suitable materialized view found to rewrite this query
What I can't understand is why it says I am referencing the dictionary or a view?
If I remove the (lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_a\%'' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_u\%'') condition to the query (using the same materialized view), I get the following message from EXPLAIN_REWRITE:
    MESSAGE
    QSM-01150: query did not rewrite
QSM-01219: no suitable materialized view found to rewrite this query
    Which is reasonable.
I don't know if the like condition is messing up my materialized view. Can anyone please help?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Bingo!
The 10.2.0.3 patch set is supposed to fix this ( [List of bugs fixed (MVs)|http://www.dbatools.net/doc/bug10203.html#MVIEW] )
    In particular:
5052568      Query rewrite does not work for SQL with LIKE clause.
Thank you very much for your message!
The downside is that I'm only using Oracle for educational purposes and consequently have no Metalink id, so I can't install the patch. Thanks a lot though!

  • Help Viewer is unresponsive and hogs CPU

There seems to be a problem with the Help Viewer application. During normal computer use when I try to open Help Viewer the application window will appear without any contents i.e, the window appears but does not have any contents from a help library. I can select a library from the Library menu at the top of the screen but it takes a very long time for the contents of the help library I have selected to load in the window. When I select a link in the window or enter text and press "return" key the application will not respond.
A side-effect of trying to run Help Viewer like this is that the application hogs the CPU, this usually results in me having to "Force Quit" the application in order to get my computer back to a usable state.

<b>What is the Different Types and Usage of Views
The followings are different types of views:</b>
    - <b>Database View   (SE11)</b>
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
    - <b>Help View    ( SE54)</b>
Help views are used to output additional information when the online help system is called.
When the F4 button is pressed for a screen field, a check is first made on whether a matchcode is defined for this field. If this is not the case, the help view is displayed in which the check table of the field is the primary table. Thus, for each table no more than one help view can be created, that is, a table can only be primary table in at most one help view.
    -<b> Projection View  (SE11)</b>
Projection views are used to suppress or mask certain fields in a table (projection), thus minimizing the number of interfaces. This means that only the data that is actually required is exchanged when the database is accessed.
A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.
    <b>- Maintenance View   ( SE54 )</b>
Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.
