Query Regarding Fetching of Maintenance View
Hi Experts
I have one query regarding fetching of Maintenance View.
My Maintenance View is consisting of only one table.
so i am unable to fetch the data using inner join.i also found
one FM VIEW_GET_DATA which fetches entire table with out
any condition it may lead to performance issue. kindly suggest
how do i fetch the data from such Maintenance View.
Thanks
Nishita GHi,
You can Direct Use the DML operations on the Underlying Database Table.( example 'SELECT' Statement and use 'WHERE' Condition for required output ).

Select query in materialized view with two dblinks
Hi All,
We have oracle 10g On windows.
We are trying to create materialized view. Scenario is we have base table on other database and we are creating mview on different database.
Basa database have two schema's and i am selecting records from that two schema's using two private db links.
But when i am tryin gto create mview its not getting created. After 15 hrs. its still showing creation command and not finished.
Query is :-

If the former, you ideally want the local Oracle db to send the join to the remote database, and for the remote database to drive the join between those 2 tables. There is a hint (<i>driving_site</i>) that can be used - or the join query can be defined on the remote database as a view, and the local materialised view can then use that remote view.
If you have 2 different db links and joining across these - usually a bad idea to perform distributed database joins. There are lots of limitations as to how the tables can be joined. Worse case, full table scans of both remote tables, pulling all the rows from the 2 remote database tables to the local database, and joining these on the local database.
I have seen some severe performance issues in the past as a result of distributed joins. I'll rather use 2 materialised views for pulling both distributed tables's data locally, and then do the join on local data (using indexes, partition pruning, etc)Hi Billy,
My scenario is i have two database database A and database B. Database A is having two schema's SCOTT AND HR. SCOTT schema have select privileges on HR schema.
DB LINK is between Database B to Database A. name is db.link.B.A.oracle.com.
What if i priovide while creating materialized view, the schema name before the table name in database B for this particuler table so it will pick up the table from that schema using same DB LINK(db.link.B.A.oracle.com.) that i am using to fetch records from SCOTT schema.
Above schnario is like two base schema's and one db link using two schema. -

2008 - 4 ..............................................................30......... 40
2009 - 1 .............................................................................5
Any ideas will be appreaciated.
Thank you!I think the first thing you need to do is look up "pivot query" in this newsgroup. And how complicated your query gets to be will depend on your database version (11 natively supports pivot queries). You have a variable number of columns in your result set (depending on how many quarters you have in your data.
I think once you get the columns sorted out, working out the numbers to put in each column will be relatively easy.

Selection condition in maintenance view
I have one table with data related to 5 systems.
MSF, RET, SER, BOB, SAV, LED.
I need t o create views with related data for each system. But system BOB contains data related to MSF and RET, So instead of creating view for that i have to add MSF related data to MSF view and RET related data to RET view from BOB system. These all are from one table only. Can you please suggest me the selection condition for that in maintenance view.

Querying data from the maintenance view.
Hi Experts,
Well, i need the STEXT field value from the maintanance view V_T591A created for the standard table T591A.
Table T591A has the field Subtype but doesn't have the field Stext, which consists the description of the subtype. The Stext field is there in the maintenance view V_T591A.
So, if i want to query the respective description of the specific subtype, how do i get the values from the maintenance view?
Please advice.
Thanks in anticipation to all!
Cheers,
Sundar.Atish,
It is not possible that way! U cannot Query directly from MV as a DB table.
Anyways, i managed to find the answer.
Thanks though.

Select query to read data from a view
Hi friends,
We have been using a query to read data from a custom view which used to work perfectly. Now the program sits at that select query forever. We are able to extract same data from se16. Not sure what could be the problem.
Thanks in advance.Dev
Have a look at the Table Index for the tables involved in the View... I think there is some change in the Indexes.. (Add / Remove / Change)
Thanks

Select query written on view giving dump
Hi All,
I have written the following query on COAS view in my code:
SELECT aufnr bukrs INTO TABLE gt_aufnr
FROM coas
WHERE
aufnr IN r_aufrm AND
auart IN s_auart AND
autyp = c_autyp_01 AND
kokrs = c_kokrs_mbca.
When records in range r_aufrm are too many like 6000 or so it gives me a run time error on this query - DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL. Error description says size of select query is large.
Question : Is this bug coming because I am using the view. If i select the records on table AUFK (only table on which the view is created), will it rectify the problem?? I am asking this because it's in production and I cant make any change and test then and there.
Note: the range r_aufrm contains two types of records for AUFNR - 1. with sign GE and others with sign LE. So I cannot use for all entries. If I still can, please tell me how?
Thanks a looot!
Waiting for the response,
NavitaThanks All!!
I think, this range limit has caused the problem. Range limit is 999 records.
Just one question I have. At runtime when I check the number of entries in r_aufrm in the query, I get 6000 entries. So, does it allow 6000 records to enter the range variable even if it has a limit of 999. Is it the case that, in select query only it will throw a dump if records in range exceed 999??
SELECT aufnr bukrs INTO TABLE gt_aufnr
FROM coas
WHERE
aufnr IN r_aufrm AND
auart IN s_auart AND
autyp = c_autyp_01 AND
kokrs = c_kokrs_mbca.
Please clear my doubt.
Thanks a lot for ur help!!!!

(view hint or Query writing method) using views in Select Query
Need Assistance,
Hi all,
My database having many views. while i am joining the views in a select query increase the cost of the querys due to the complex joins in the conditions.
While checking the select query with views individualy taking less cost.
Does any hint or query writing method is availabe to avoid the merging of the execution plan of the views?
I have browsed many related to the mentioned issues, couldn't found any thing that helps me.
Please help me on this issue,it will be very much helpfull for me.
Thanks,
SenthurPlease read the two threads linked to in the FAQ: {message:id=9360003} and post the relevant details they request, so that people can help you better with your issue.
We cannot help if you just say "my query is slow what do I do to fix it" as we cannot see your queries, your data, or any other information we would need to help. If the answer was that simple, it would be built into oracle so that the optimiser would fix it for you. -
How to assign maintenance view to a selection screen field in a program.
Hi Experts,
I have created a custom table. Now, I have a program where there is a selection screen field for example "Load". After entering a value in the selection screen, and press enter, the user must be redirected to the maintenance view of the custom table to modify the specifed record.
Can anyone help me on how to do that?
Thanks a lot for ur precious help.
Regards,
AkshHi,
What is the need to search for a program.
Use transaction SM30 or SE16 to create or maintain entries in the table.
e.g. if the Maintenance view is created on table A, then Goto transaction SM30 or SE16 and give the table name as A and proceed. This will automatically take u to the maintenance view on tha table A.

Select statement on maintenance view.
Hello Friends,
I have a quick question. I have a maintenance view, and I want to do a select statement on this view in an ABAP program, but seems like the view is not filled with data when running the program.
How do I get the view to be populated at runtime in the ABAP program? the work area and the internal table is TYPE of the view..
Here's the code:
select * into wa
from view
where bukrs = P_BUKRS
vtweg in S_CHNL.
append wa to it.
endselect.
best regards BHello B,
Just to inform you: "You can select data only from Database Views".
You can design a work-around for this, by taking look @ the Join tables. May i know form which View you want to get the data?

Limiting Query View selections for Web reports
In web reports, users currently have Query View Selection but they want to be able to just see views that they have created and not all others.
How can this be done?
Does creating views in web and in BEX pull different auth objects or is it same? - Which objects are check in WEB views? Bex views use s_rs_comp with the QVW componenet.. but the trace does not show any log like this.Hi,
User specific protection of queries are controlled by authorization object S_RS_COMP1.
Authorization RSZOWNER = "$USER" allows the user access to activities in all the components he is an owner of.

Hi,
I am facing this weird issue. Any help would be appriciated.
I have view with the following definition:
CREATE VIEW [marketing].[OpenedMails]
AS
SELECT
ID_EmailAddress,
ID_Date_Opened,
ID_Contact,
ID_MailSendJobs,
COUNT(ID_OpenedMails) AS OpenCount,
CASE
WHEN ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY CAST(ID_EmailAddress AS VARCHAR(10)) + ' ' + CAST(ID_MailSendJobs AS VARCHAR(10)) ORDER BY ID_Date_Opened) = 1 THEN 1
ELSE 0
END
AS UniqueOpenCount
FROM
dbo.Fact_OpenedMails
where ID_Contact = 382340
GROUP BY ID_EmailAddress, ID_Date_Opened, ID_Contact, ID_MailSendJobs;
order by ID_MailSendJobs
When I run the the select statement in the view definition I get combination of both 1 and 0 for the 'UniqueOpenCount' column.
But when I run the select from the view itself using the following query:
SELECT [ID_EmailAddress]
,[ID_Date_Opened]
,[ID_Contact]
,[ID_MailSendJobs]
,[OpenCount]
,[UniqueOpenCount]
FROM [marketing].[OpenedMails]
I get equal amount of rows but only 0 values for the 'UniqueOpenCount' column which seems to be very weird to me. Why is this happening ? Can anyone help regarding how to solve this ??
Result from the select inside view definition:
Result from the select query directly from the view:
Thanks in advance.
Vivek KamathPlease post DDL, so that people do not have to guess what the keys, constraints, Declarative Referential Integrity, data types, etc. in your schema are. Learn how to follow ISO-11179 data element naming conventions and formatting rules. You failed. Temporal
data should use ISO-8601 formats – you failed again. Code should be in Standard SQL AS much AS possible and not local dialect.
This is minimal polite behavior on SQL forums.
Things like “ID_Date_Opened” are wrong. The affixes “id” and “date” are called attribute properties in ISO-11179 and data modeling. Since a date is a unit of measurement on a temporal scale, it cannot be an identifier by definition. My guess is this would be
“open_date” if it were done right. And the only display format in ANSI/ISO Standard SQL is ISO-8601 (yyyy-mm-dd)
An email address of -1?? Email addresses are VARCHAR(256), not numeric. There is no reason to cast them AS string!
Your vague “mail_send_jobs” is plural, but columns hold scalars and cannot be plural by definition. The partition cause can hold a list of columns:
WHEN ROW_NUMBER()
OVER (PARTITION BY email_address, mail_send_job
ORDER BY open_date)
= 1
THEN 1 ELSE 0 END
This still makes no sense, but the syntax is better. You do not understand how ROW_NUMBER() works.
Would you like to try again with proper Netiquette?
