Make a sine wave

Is there an easy way to make a sine wave, or maybe better
yet, a sawtooth form on the stage? It needs to be precisely
symmetric.
I want to represent energy in an illustration, like gamma
radiation. Thanks.

make a table with two columns:
Column A contains time (or angle)
Column B contains the sin functions that uses the value in the same row of column A
like:
Make the first row a header.
A2=ROW()*PI()/30
B2=SIN(A2)
select A2 and B2, then fill down by grabbing (click and hold) the little circle at the bottom right of the selection then drag dow as needed.
now select columns A and B, then select the Scatter Chart from the Chart men u in the tool bar.

  • How do I make a sine wave in illustrator?

    Hi,
    I started a thread earlier this evening but I think that I accidentally flagged it as "solved" or something like that (I'm new to this forum). So I'm trying this again. I want to know if there's a way of creating a sine wave in illustrator. I've managed to create a cosine wave by using the zig zag effect on a line and choosing "smooth". But I can't seem to find a good way to make a sine wave.
    This is the difference for anyone wondering:
    I want a sine wave just like the picture above.
    Thanks for the help!
    ekmanch

    ekmanch,
    As I (mis)understand it, to create a single full sine wave, you may:
    1) Create a horizontal line 2.5 times the length of the desired full sine wave (or you may adapt the length later);
    2) Effect>Distort & Transform>Zig Zag with 4 Ridges per segment and Smmoths Points and the desired height as the Size (or you may adapt later);
    3) Object>Expand Appearance;
    4) Object>Path>Add Anchor Points;
    5) With the Scissors Tool cut where the sine wave starts and ends;
    6) Ungroup if needed and delete the end bits (and adapt the length/height if needed).

  • How to view different sine waves in an array and make an fft of these and display it in one graph

    How can i cannect the output of my mathscript in the Spectral Measurements VI SIgnal Input. I'm having a problem since the output of the mathscript file "D" is DBL 2D. I dont know how to convert this data type in order to be connected to the signal input of the Spectral Measurements VI. I also want that the waveform graph connected to output of the Spectral Measurements VI, will display the FFT of the three sine waves in one graph.

  • Simultaneous analog output 1k sine wave and data acquisition

    Although many topics of simultaneous analog output and input can be found in NI Developer Zone, I have not found a case similar to my project. I'm trying to generate a 1kHz sine wave by using the analog output of NI DAQPad-6070E, and acquire one channel input signal simultaneously. I found most of the examples can not work properly above 100Hz. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    I have sucessfully solve the problem when I observed the increase of
    scan backlog number. Simply increase the buffer size of AI/AO and you
    can make the 1kHz sine wave output and data acquired properly.

  • Sine wave on startup

    I searched for this all over and can only find references to start up sounds like 5 beeps or breaking glass.
    A couple of times I have started up my PowerBook G4 to have it make a single mid-ranged sine wave sound for a second or so. Then it waits for a few seconds and makes the normal startup sound. Everything seems to be running fine, except that hard drive access has become pretty slow. I tried running repair disk and it did nothing. What does the sine wave sound signify? Like I said this has only happened a couple of times, and is the only unusual error I've gotten.
    Thank you,

    all kinds of noises could be made by failing drives also.

  • My Sine Wave File sounds different in Logic than iTunes

    I am working on creating musical compositions with embedded sine wave patterns (which I am generating in a foriegn application). These sine waves are designed to entrain the brain to different frequencies to facilitate in stimulating meditative states of consciousness in the listener.
    Unfortunately, when I import my sine wave audio file (in .wav format) Logic changes it and the rhythm is frequency is twice as fast! When I play the file in iTunes it sounds just the way I generated it, but when I import it into Logic through the audio bin or simply drag and drop onto the arrange window, it sounds different and cannot work for the precise control I require for my compositions.
    Does any one have any idea why this is happening or what I can do to import my audio file without changing it?
    Thank you so much for any ideas/assistance,
    Devlin Dewitt Donnelly

    Hi DD Smooth,
    you should check sample rate settings on your original audio files and make them match the sample rate settings on your logic project prior to importing them. Sounds like you are generating 48khz .wav files in your foreign app and Logic must be set to 44.1khz by default. Or the other way around

  • PXI-board only returns perfect sine wave

    Hi, everyone!
    This is a strange one:
    Im peforming synchronized sampling from two boards; one is a PCI-6224 in my computer and the other a PXI-6229 located in our PXI-system. Being a rookie when it comes to labview, I was quite proud of myself for managing this all by myself. However, when i looked closer at a 10 sec test-record I noticed something peculiar. Although none of the 32 (differential) channels had inputs during the recording, the PXI-board returned 16 perfect 1 Hz sine waves with exactly the same amplitude as the measurement range. Attaching a signal to the terminal block didn't alter this. The PCI-board returns only weak 50 Hz (power network) noise, as expected. What is going on ??
    I'm using a PXI-1031 chassis together with a PXI-8184 controller connected to the PC with a network cable. I trigger the pxi-board by sending the PC-clock through a PFI-port and a physichal wire.
    regards, Einar

    As I said, I haven't used LabVIEW 8 all that much. It's a bit tricky: you'll have to make a new Project, add the PXI as a new Target, and the add the VI you're trying to run underneath the new target. The last time I was playing with this I also had to open some ports in the Windows XP firewall.
    If this is all a bit much for you, you might have a PXI controller that is configured to dual-boot both LabVIEW RT and Windows XP. If you reboot the controller in Windows XP mode, you can then access the PXI-6229 in the same way you currently access the PCI-6224... provided you don't mind copying the VIs over and hooking up a mouse, monitor, and keyboard to the PXI.
    Switching from LV RT to Windows XP is most easily done by selecting the appropriate option in the PXI's BIOS. Check your PXI controller's manual for details.

    I am trying to generate a 50kHz sine wave output on the DAQ card and then simultaneously recieve. I am using a PCI-Mio 16E-4 series board to do this. Has anyone done anything similar. I can generate a 50k wave no problem, and recieve one, but I can not get these vis to run together? Any suggestiosn

    Jrod, yes you should be able to do this, actually there are quite a few example programs come with LabVIEW that handles simultaneous analog input and output, I check the specs of the board you use, the board should be able to handle the sampling/generation rate, but make sure for 50KHz sine wave, you would sample at least twice as fast, preferably ten times the generation rate, then this puts the sampling of the board to thew limit.
    The program you can try is attached here, good luck with the application,

    Hello,
    I'm Sean Ahn using NI 7856R, USB FPGA with LabVIEW 2014.

    I am a bit lost...
    We make the acquisition of voltage (sine wave, 3Hz) which I simulated by a waveform generation in my VI. We want to convert this analog signal to a TTL and output it with a multifunction DAQ (6230).
    I only used Analog to Digital.vi and DAQmx write.vi and I can't get it to work... I get a TTL which is not 3Hz and only If I input a frequency like 3.07 and not 3.00 !!
    Did I forget something ?

    In your vi, you don't have DAQmx Timing setup.  I don't know what the default value is.  But the timing determines how fast the DAQ will output values.  If not set correctly, you may see slight change in the output frequency.  Another thing is that the timing is based on a master clock, like 50MHz.  The clock gets divided down until it gets near the desired setting.  So it may not be able to achieve 3KHz exactly.  If you are getting 3.07KHz, this may be why.  I don't know if there is anything you can do about it.  Try using the timing vi and setting different sample rates.

  • Help Creating a Sine Wave in Numbers '09?

    Hi,
    I'm having trouble graphing some data in Numbers, having been used to Excel for most of my life. What I've basically got to do is graph a sine wave representing the annual variation described in the graph (it compares CO2 concentration measured at a chain of islands to time in years). I've figured out easily how to graph the data on a polynomial treadline curve, but now I've got this to do.
    The instructions say to make a new column in column D and enter in the equation 1.435x-2501.1, which is derived from the linear fit treadline equation I had calculated earlier. After that I am to copy it down to match the number of cells in column A (626), which I did, so now every cell in D down to 626 contains that equation above. Then, I enter 1 in cell E1 and 1/12 in order to arbitrarily guess at the sine wave amplitude and period, respectively, and finally I then select cell D1 and put in this equation:
    =1.435*A2-2501.1+($E$1*SIN(A2/$F$1))
    After that I grab cell D2, drag it down to select all the cells in column D, and add it to the graph by (I think) dragging it onto the graph, as Numbers says to do. What I'm uncertain of is where to go from here. Here are the instructions:
    'To plot the model values on the chart, double click or right click on the chart and select "Select Data" and click on Add under Series. Name the series "Model" and select data in column A for the X values and data in column D for the Y values. Rename Series 1 "Raw Data" and click OK."
    That's all stuff you can do in Excel... I don't know how to do it in Numbers. When I drag D into the graph, it works fine, but when I go to add in column A for X and D for Y in Inspector it won't let me type anything. How do I complete this sine wave?
    Thank you very much in advance for reading through this and helping me.

    I'm not sure of the reason for this step.
    1.435x-2501.1
    Entered into D2, with the x value in A2 is expressed as:
    =1.435*A-2501.1
    which is part of the formula below.
    I'm assuming "1/12" goes in F1.
    I've also assumed row 1 is a Header row, and have entered your formula into the first data row (D2)
    Your formula is now:
    (1.435 times the value A) - 2501.1 + 1 * (Sin( the value in A divided by 0.833...))
    or
    (1.435 times the value A) - 2501.1 + 1 * (Sin( the value in A multiplied by 12))
    You haven't given any specifics regarding the raw data, so I've arbitrarily set it to a positive linear slope by making A =ROW()-1.
    These may be instructions for Excel. Using Numbers, a simpler way to place thie data into an X-y Scatter plot is this:
    Set the data up to occupy the full columns A and D, not including the Header row mentioned above.
    Select Column A: Click on any cell to make the table active show the row and column Reference tabs.
    Click on column A's reference tab.
    Command-clickon column D's reference tab to add it to the selection.
    Click the Chart button in the tools and choose the Scatter chart icon from the menu.
    If I've read this correctly, your formula imposes a sine wave onto the set of data.
    Here are the results. The expanded chart at the right shows the approximately the area bounded by the light blue rectangle at the upper end of the plot in the larger chart.

  • How can I output successive sine wave sequences?

    I'm using Labview 8.2.1 and I'd like to output sequences of sine voltage waves to a motor, each sequence being associated with n number of cycles at a given frequency and magnitude. For instance, three 0.5V sine cycles at 1Hz followed by three 0.2V sine cycles at 10Hz - no waiting time in-between and all data saved to a given folder. I've been using the 'Cont Gen Voltage Wfm-Ext Clk.vi' within the example library. I added to that a stacked structure thinking that I could copy-paste the first sine sequence to the next frame - changing only the frequency+magnitude values of the sine wave - but I couldn't get the second sequence to execute. I tried out other options with different timed structures but it was not successful either. My block diagram for now looks like this:
    What fundamental steps/elements am I missing?
    Thanks for your help,
    Thibault.

    Instead of using frames let’s try something a little bit simpler. First your generation is set to continuous so it will never go to the next frame until the first task is done.
    You have two options to solve this problem:
    1.       You build the waveform the way you want it, and then you start the generation with the whole waveform load into the card. Just need to make sure this will limit the size of your waveform to as much memory you have on your card.  Advantage about this approach is there will not be time gaps between one signal and the other one
    2.       The other option is to start the generation with one waveform stop it and start it over with different specification. Basically what this is what you are trying to do, but you need to change your generation to: “N samples”. One thing to consider about this approach is that your signal will have a gap every time your task is started and stopped.
    Let me know if it helps
    Two point to remember, this is a question that can be answer more correctly in DAQmx discussion forums not, labview and next time if you can reduce the picture width to less than 500 pixels.

    64 Channel Programmatic v2.vi ‏22 KB

    Hi Zhuming,
    The VI above only provides waveform information for a single channel. In order to output data across all 64 channels in the task, we can make use of a For Loop to build an array of waveform information for each channel. In the example below, I've made use of an Auto-Indexing For Loop in order to build up a waveform output array of 64 elements. I've wired this to an NI-DAQmx Analog 1D Wfm Write VI; the 1D array's elements represents each channel in the group of selected channels for generation.
    An important thing to note is that the NI 9264 16 channel analogue output modules have a maximum sample rate of 25 kS/s/ch. This means that each channel is capable of writing 25kS/s simultaneously.
    To reliably generate a signal, we generally need to have it comprised of around 5 to 10 points of data. This allows us to represent the signal to a good degree of accuracy. For example, if I wanted to reliably output a 1Hz Sine Wave, I would need to break the 1Hz wave into ten separate points and then output them at a rate of 10Hz. In terms of the NI 9264, the maximum frequency content (Two points of information) that can be generated is 25kHz/2 = 12.5kHz wave. The maximum clear wave frequency that we could produce with the 9264 (A wave built up of ten points) is 2.5kHz simultaneously across each channel. This is all to do with Nyquist's Theorem. This should explain why the frequency appeared to drop.
    Out of interest, how are you measuring these output frequencies?
    Kind Regards,

    Hi there,
    I have created a simple programe using the 5640R card, and i am attaching the programe to this question. Using a "sine generation" function/block i am generating a sine wave and outputting to one of the o/p ports and then i am connecting that o/p port to one of the i/p ports using a cable. Then i am plotting what ever i have recieved through the i/p port (this has to be same as what is generated using "sine generator" ). The graph shows that i am not receiving aything from the i/p port, but when i plot the o/p of the "sine generator", i see that the sine generator is generating the sine wave. Please refer to the attached figure and please tell me what mistake i have made in this simple programe.
    Thanks,

    Hi sandeep
    This small segment of code will not work on the NI PCI-5640R.  This module does not support running the FPGA Vis directly.  A Host VI must be run that calls to the FPGA Vis.
    I suggest that you look at the ni5640R Analog Input and Output example that is installed by the NI PCI-5640R software.

    PS: Make sure that you are using the NI PCI-5640R software version 1.1.
