Make iweb hyperlinks open in new window?

i have tried massreplaceit, using rowan cottage's how-to...this didn't work...and i REALLY want my hyperlinks to open in a new window-does any have any suggestions on how they made this work?

I could be mistaken because my HTMl is at the newbie stage but I think the target="_blank" needs to look like the following except that I left off the opening and closing anchor tags that must be included:
a href="http://www.apple.com" target="_blank">apple
apple
It is placed after the website address ...apple.com" target="_blank"... not before.

  • IWeb - hyperlink open in new window?

    Hi there,
    Is it possible to make a hyperlink open into a new browser window when building pages in iWeb?
    Thanks, mz

    To add to varkgirls' reply, you can replace the nav bar links with a text link with the following format:
    Page
    Since all of the page html files for a give site are in the same folder the path is very simple. Just put in a text box place holder for each page directly under the navigation bar. Then turn off the nav bar in the Inspector pane and the text links will slide up to the top of the page.
    After publishing, each of the page html files and replace the text place holder with the code above. Each page will open in a new window.
    Do you Twango?

  • External Hyperlinks open in new window.

    When someone in my iWeb site clicks an external Hyperlink they automatically leave my site. How can I make Hyperlinks open a new window so my site is not effected?

  • How do I make hyperlinks open in new window?

    Hi, I'm using Acrobat X Pro.  I have a pdf uploaded to a website, and within that pdf are two hyperlinks to other websites.  Currently, if I click on the links, they open in the same window.  How do I make the hyperlinks open in a new window by default? In Acrobat X Pro, I tried editing the hyperlinks by right-clicking them and selecting properties, but I don't see an option to specify how the link should open.  Is this option available for web links?

    I think the best you can do is use the app.launchURL JavaScript method and specify that you want to open in a new window:
    // Script for link action
    app.launchURL({cURL: "http://www.example.com", bNewFrame: true});
    For this method's documentation, see: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.150.html

  • Make your links open in new windows

    And before I forget... This was another thing I remembered during my internet outage...
    If anyone knows where the JavaScript is stored or generated for the pages, technically you could insert a small script in there that would allow you to then specify URLs for your hyperlinks that generate new windows.
    This is one way to write the script:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function open_window(url) {
    window.open(url,'toolbar=yes,location=yes,directories=yes,status=yes,menubar=yes ,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=800,height=600');
    // End -->
    </script>
    As long as that script is either in the JavaScript file for your page(s), then you can use the following as a way to specify a URL for a hyperlink that pops-up in its own window:
    javascript:open_window('http://www.website.com/');
    Hopefully someone else has found where the JS files are generated or stored because if we can alter THAT information, then we have a far greater arena of functionality that we could open.

    iWeb generate a JS file for an associated HTML file and put it in the page_files folder (e.g Welcome.html has Welcome.js in Welcome_files folder).
    The JS files can be pretty ugly as they are, so editing or adding something else to them is a last resort (as I did in the Photos.js files for slideshow).
    The alternative is add another JS file, but that requires editing the HTML file (adding the script tag inside head tag).
    In the end we almost have to edit the HTML no matter what.
    <!--<br>function open_window(url) ....
    BTW, that is pretty much how slideshow pop open a window. But there is no way to insert javascript functions with iWeb's Inspector.

              btnObj.frame = CGRectMake(40, 40, 70, 50);

  • Hyperlinks - Open in New Window?

    Probably answered somewhere previously, but is there any way to drop in proper code in the hyperlinks to make them open the target link in a new window on the published site instead of opening within the same window, thus user leaves your site?
    Thanks.

    That's not possible WITHIN iWeb, but if you edit the html files of your site after you Publish, you can add a target="_blank" into each of your links so that they'll open in a new window. Also, if you change that page and re-publish, you'll have to be sure to make those changes again.

  • How do i make a button open a new window...

    Hi,
    I'm making some very basic login software and i want the program to open up a new window when the "Login" button is pressed and then display a message saying whether the login was successful or not.
    Any help would be appreciated but i would love some code to help me see how to do it and help me on my way.
    Cheers.

    what do you exactly need, the "how to create and display a frame"? I bet your program already has a frame, so I suspect you know how to do that. Well, just do it again.
    Note: if its just a plain message you wish to display to the user, the easiest way will be by using javax.swing.JOptionPane, look for the showXxxx methods.
    If the question was more "how do I know when my button get pressed", take a look at that other question: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=57&thread=156406

    how can i make my hyperlinks open in a new window or tab?

  • Word hyperlinks converted to PDF-open in new window???

    I currently use Word 2007 to build indexes with hyperlinks and convert to PDF using Adobe Professional 9. I know how to set my Adobe preferences so that hyperlinks open in a new window, but I want to set this on the document level for each index I create. I also know how to set each link within the final pdf to open in a new window (if I go through each and every link preference).  I must create the hyperlinks in Word as there are many instances that my indexes change prior to distribution of the discs and I don't like having to duplicate, triplicate, etc. my linking process in Adobe as some of my indexes contain 300+ links. I only know of JavaScript but not enough to use with confidence...  I want the hyperlinks to open in new windows (as that has always been my instructions to the end user) without the end user having to fumble around with their systems and settings. It has just been brought to my attention that my discs do not have that function set. Meaning, that what I view and test on my system is not the same as the end user. The hyperlinks open in the same window (dang it!!). I did see a JavaScript solution but keep getting an error (on line 2). Here is the JavaScript I found in the forum: app.openInPlace = false;   //Opens cross-document links in separate windows.
    So, I have muliple questions...
    Is this sript the best way to accomplish the document level open in a new window function?
    Is this script written correctly? (I did cut and paste this script within the brackets)
    If I use the JavaScript and save, does that save in the Adobe application system or just on the document level?  And then how do I delete if it doesn't work properly?
    What other functions can you suggest I try?
    Any suggestions would be helpful!

    Where did you place that script, exactly?
    It should work, there's probably just an error in how you added the text of the script. Try removing the comment so that there's only one line of code:
    app.openInPlace = true;
    Note that this changes the user preference, which is generally frowned upon, so you should endeavor to set it back to what it was in the first place when the document is closed. This would involve storing the value of this property when the document opens, change it if necessary, and restore it when the document closes. It also won't work for those users who have JavaScript disabled.
    Unfortunately, link annotations are difficult to alter in an automated way given what's available in Acrobat. It would be possible with an Acrobat plug-in to make document-wide changes to all of the links, but I'm not aware of any that do this. You might want to search around.

  • When I try to follow a hyperlink, Firefox opens a new window that stays blank.; also I can't download a hyperlinked file.

    I recently bought a laptop that is equipped with Windows 7. I needed new drivers for my Canon printer and was able to locate the new software on their website. When I tried to activate the hyperlink, Firefox opened a new window with the proper address in the "window". however the window stayed blenk. Similar actions with IE yielded desired results.
    I got the same "dead end" when I tried to download a form from Mozilla; again IE worked fine.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Opening a file from a hyperlink in a new window

    I know than you can hyperlink to a new webpage by checking the "open in new window" box when creating the hyperlink. But I have made a hyperlink linking to an mp3 file. When you click on it, I would like a brand new window to open so my website doesn't go away. But the option is no longer available for links to files. Any advice?
    Stefan

    The size of the popup window is given in the code from Step 3.1 (the one that opens the popup) this code where width width and height of the window that pops up is decided and that's where you have to change the width and height parameters by typing in the number of pixels (now width 300 height 200) increase height and diminish width, you have to play around a bit...
    The flash player window says TEXT because that's the title of that page in iWeb, search for the title field in the page you embedded the flashplayer to and change it.
    I'm glad you tried

  • When I open a new window in FFox7, how can I make it automatically appear exactly on top of the previous window -- not resized, not shifted, but directly on top?

    I used to set Firefox to full screen; but my new monitor is too big to do that. So I sized the Firefox window to the size I want, and I carefully centered it (using a tape measure to get it as close to dead center as possible).
    But everytime I open a new window, it appears shifted slightly to the right (I think that's called cascading, but I'm not sure). While some might like this feature, I prefer it open exactly on top of the previous window; and it's a pain to have to shift the new window manually every time I open one.
    How do I set Firefox to open new windows right on top of the parent window (and the same size), covering it up completely?
    Thanks,
    Dafydd abHugh

    Well, then isn't there some way to induce Firefox to give Windows parameters that make it open the fershlugginer window in the *same* position, instead of an offset position?
