Make keyboard appear on iOS app launch
I've made an app in xcode for the iPad and would like the keyboard to appear automatically on launch. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks!
Did you assign a delegate for the text field?
If you don't understand this, please review the Apple iOS documentation for UITextField.
It's all explained in there.
Come back here when you figure it out (or if you get stumped).
The important thing is to try on your own.
Trying things out and failing is the best way to learn Objective-C and the iOS API.

Skype Credit & Contacts not Appearing in iOS App, when they are on Desktop.
Hi, I am having the same issue that many people have raised, but there appear to be not suggestions as to what shoudl be done. I have an MS Accoount which is used to sign into Skype. Destop is signed in and shows credit. iOS shows credit £0.00. Desktop has about 20 contacts. iOS has 1. I have uninstalled & re-installed the iOS app. I think it may possibly relate to the Skype Account vs. Microsoft Account, but this is unlikley. When I try and try and reset the Skype Account Password to the same as the Microsoft Account Password it won't let me so I presume these are in fact the same thing. Anyway Skype/Microsoft will no longer allow me to change passwords since I've exceeded the number allowed within 24 hours. Any advice will be greatfully recieved. Peter PS. Now Skype App (OSX Desktop), with Micrsoft Account, will not let me sign in, but I am able to use the Account (to update this Message). OK. At last. There were two accounts, a Microsoft Account and a Sype Account. They were completely seperate, and thus the problem. At some point I must have used the same password for both. Hoever can I make a few suggestions.... 1) If you copy & past the code for password re-set be careful not to get leading/training spaces because these appear to be significant. 2) The message when you enter an incorrect Password is the Skype is not recognising the User Name AND the Password. Surely it's the combination that is incorrect? 3) Please do not use Skype to market Microsoft Accounts. Case Closed.
i should mention i already tried deleting the -v22 file.

IOS App Launch (Default) Images
Hello,
Just tried to push to Apple and recieved the following error:
iPhone 5 Optimization Requirement - Your binary is not optimized for iPhone 5. New iPhone apps and app updates submitted targeting iOS 6 and above must support the 4-inch display on iPhone 5 and must include a launch image with the -568h size modifier immediately following the <basename> portion of the launch image's filename. Launch images must be PNG files and located at the top-level of your bundle, or provided within each .lproj folder if you localize your launch images. Learn more about iPhone 5 support and app launch images by reviewing the iOS Human Interface Guidelines and iOS App Programming Guide.
I am working in Flash Builder 4.6.
The Launch image included & checked in the package contents. I am using Flex 4.6.0 with AIR 3.7 with the Starling/Feathers/Flox framework.
Default-586h@2x resolution: 640x1136
Default@2x resolution: 640x960
iPad_Default resolution: 1024x768
I feel like I must be missing something. Any suggestions?
Thank you,

Photos not appearing in ios apps
In apps on iOS 8.3 when I want to select a photo from my library I only have accessible a limited number of folders of pictures. In the Facebook app I only have the Camera Roll available, and in Instagram there is only Camera Roll and a number of Faces, all my other photos are not listed anywhere. I believe this happened after I updated the Photos app on my mac to version 1.0 (209.52.0), but it's difficult to say.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks!I noticed this behavior this morning. Tumblr, Instagram, Flickr, and others only see a few recent photos.

On my new iPhone, at the Apps store, I tried to make a purchase, the popup screen shows my Apple ID and asks for my password, but no keyboard appears so that I can enter the password. How do I get the keyboard to appear??
On your iPad, delete the existing account then sign back in with the new ID and password.

My father in law has a brand new iPhone 5s using iOS 8.1.1 - under settings, general, keyboard, all keyboards... There is no option for 'predictive'. Has anyone else had this? And if so, how can we make it appear? Many thanks!
What langauge is he using? Is it one of the supported languages?
See here: https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#quickType-keyboard-predictive-in put -
Why dont you take ios 7 and take out a feature so the ipod 4 can have enough space to take it I suggest when you touch your screen and the keyboard appears and make the old way.
We're all users like yourself, if you would like to leave feedback to Apple go to Contact Us at the bottom of this page then go to Feedback and leave your concern. iOS 7 requires 512MB of RAM. Only the iPod 5 has 512MB RAM. The iPod 4 only has 256MB RAM. Hope this helps, Good luck.

I am trying to install an app, I'm asked to enter my password, but my keyboard won't pop up, only the option to paste, but when I choose paste, nothing fills in (which makes sense as I have not copied anything). How can I make my keyboard appear?
Are you tapping on the field you want to enter data into? That opens the soft keyboard. If you touch the field and hold it, the paste option will appear.

Make Flash Builder "Magazine" App. Appear in iOS 5 Newsstand?
I know that the Digital Publishing Suite/Service (DPS) can create a "magazine" app that will appear in the iOS 5 Newsstand. I'm evaluating creating my own "magazine" app. using Flash Builder or Flash Pro. Any clues on how to do so? I can understand if this isn't supported, since publishers using the DPS is in Adobe's economic interest. However it would be cool if I could somehow use the "app. descriptor" file to configure an iOS app. exported from the Flash development to appear in the Newsstand.
Thanks for any thoughts/opinions/answers!
TedHere's the solution:
The problem did not exist on an installation of Flash Builder on a spare MacBookPro.
On my main computer (the one with the Flash Builder issue) I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Builder 4.5 (then updated to 4.5.1). Creating an iOS Mobile Application now creates the correct code.
I have no idea why it was creating dodgy code.
The only difference with the new Flash Builder install is that SourceMate 3.0 is not installed yet. Perhaps something had gone wrong in the Adobe Updater when going from 4.5 to 4.5.1, who know...all speculation...anyhow it works now! -
Just upgraded and now a keyboard is appearing on an app and I don't want it
Just upgraded and now a keyboard is appearing on an app and I don't want it
If the keyboard isn't supposed to show in the app then it's possible that the developers need to make a change for iOS 8.
You could try closing the app via the iPad's taskbar and see if that makes any difference.
If not then you could try deleting the app and redownloading it and see if that fixes it - though if you've made in-app purchases within it you may want to check if they are re-downloadable. -
Pictures look like they transfer via iTunes app window - but don't appear on iOS device
My pictures look like they transferred to iPad (the new) or iPhone (4) in iTunes (on the App page). I can see the files in the little app file share/transfer window, but the pictures do not show up in the iPhoto App on either iOS device.
Tried deleting the ios iphoto folder mentioned in a different post - did not help.
Deleted all pictures from the app window, and then synched, then tried putting in half as many (mostly because I didn't want to wait for a whole bunch to transfer like the first time ... still showing up in app window, still taking a long time to synch and saying that it is loading, and app percentage of disk space grows accordingly on device (in itunes monitor window). Go to iPhoto on device .... Only pictures are the ones taken by that device.
Photos in the sunflower still work like always, just can't use the cool iPhoto on any of my pictures not taken by the ipad or iphone!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!This is happening on both the new iPad and iPhone 4.
I wrote under time pressure yesterday, here is more complete history.
purchased iPhoto app on the New iPad, then plugged in, launched iTunes, went to App tab, went to File Sharing - selected iPhoto, Clicked Add... button, selected photos/iphoto ... used daisyA to select all and clicked open.
All photo names appeared in the iPhoto Documents box. Then clicked Sync button (3 hours later) Sync complete - all photos listed in iPhoto Documents box in iTunes. Memory indicator shows application consumption of memory has grown appropriately for having added all those photos.
eject and disconnect iPad .... no photos appear in iTunes except for those taken by the device. Did same procedure on iPhone 4 .... same result. I can group, edit, view, and tinker with the photos taken by the device (ie iPhoto working as it should), however I can't see any of the photos from my long time iPhoto library not taken on this device that the iTunes file share window on the app tab says are there (and app memory usage also indicates are probably there).
Turned off both devices and then re-started -- no help
Soft reset both devices (dimple & power key, hold till restart happens) - even though the power down / power up should do at least the same thing. No help
Deleted iPod Photo Cache in iPhoto app (home/pictures/right click iphoto show package contents ... )
Synched again - no help
Deleted all pictures listed on app tab in file share window for iPhoto iOS app.
Synched - indicator for amount of memory used by apps decreases appropriately
Still can see and use photos taken by device and no others
Powered down then re- started device again.
Plugged in and open iTunes, use file share window on app tab to add just a dozen pictures this time (instead of all). Then sync - Still cannot see the pictures in the iPhoto app on the device .... file share window on app tab of iTunes says they are there. Indicator for memory useage says they are there - progress bar during sync says they are being added, I just cant see them in the iPhoto iOS app when I click on the Photos selector in the iOS iPhoto app.
Photos are on the iPad and synching with the ipad from iphoto into the sunflower app that comes with the devices. Just won't go into iPhoto! -
I have an app that has been on the App Store for months that has been running just fine for almost everyone.
However, I was contacted many months ago by a single user that had been using our app for months without any issues, but all of a sudden they started having a problem with our app "crashing on launch everytime". Making the app completely non-functional.
Even rebooting their device didn't help the issue. The only thing that fixed this issue for them was to delete the app from their device and then reinstall it. Then the app started working again properly. As our app tracks useful data for the user, deleting the app also deleted all their saved data that was stored in a SQLite DB by the app, which was less than ideal.
More recently I had another person contact me about the same issue and then it started happening on one of my own devices, which is really starting to scare me that the problem could be much more widespread that I initially thought. I created a new debug build and tried to debug the issue on my own device, but upon running the debug build the problem mysteriously went away and now the app launches again with no issues.
Initially I thought that the app's SQLite DB might be getting corrupted somehow (as one of the individuals indicated that they had run out of storage space on their device when the problem happened). As we access the DB a few times during the launch sequence I thought that a corrupt DB file might be causing the crash. However, after running a debug build on the device that was having the fail to launch issue the problem suddenly mysteriously fixed itself, the app was able to access the DB and all the data in it without issues.
After checking for Crash Reports in iTunes Connect, there is now a new "Timeout on Launch 0% of submitted timeouts" entry that wasn't there before. Along with a new “Resident Private Memory Size" entry that lists "Average = 0.0B and Maximum 0.0B".
I also had one crash log that I’ve included below. The crash log seems to indicate that the app is failing to resume in time and I believe that the iOS is thus killing the app before it has a chance to start. As iOS thinks it is taking too long to start up. Although iOS seems to be killing my app after only 0.590 seconds according to the crash file. Also on my own device the app would shut down and dump me back to the home screen within 3 seconds of the app icon being tapped on. The splash screen flashes up briefly and then the app goes away. As the app barely has time to display the default splash screen, I doubt it is even getting a chance to run any actual code before getting shut down.
I’m a bit stumped as to why the app would work fine for months and then all of a sudden the iOS would start to decide killing it on launch. If indeed that is what is happening. I’m not all that great a reading/understanding this crash logs. Also why reinstalling the same version of the app would make the problem go away completely. Unless the DB access is getting way too slow for some reason and causing a timeout.
Any help/ideas that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I made some changes to the launch sequence in my app to make it more robust in the hopes that it would address the issue. However, after checking the iTunes Connect crash reports I did eventually receive a new crash report with those changes that looks almost identicle to the old one I had, so the problem still remains present and remains a mystery. -

AIR 3.9 as3 IOS app stuck on launch / loading / splash screen
When deploying an app to ipad2 ios7/iphone4 ios6/iphone5 ios7 the app doesnt get past the loading/splash screen.
Ive tried debugging on the device via usb but doesnt even hit the first breakpoint on the firtst line of code. Also deployed via testflight with the same result ie stuck on the loading screen.
I released the app in December but the app freezes on the loading screen from the app store!!?? Ive no idea how this passed apple testing etc and it previosly worked. ..Has anyone got any advice on how to debug this or does anyone know what could be the problem?
Ive now created a VERY simple app for testing, this includes all icons etc and just displays some text in a text box. This also freezes on the loading screen.
Im using Flashbuilder 4.7 with air 3.9
Ive updated compiler arg with -swf-version=22
application descriptor updated with - <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/3.9">

It might have something to do with the new way iOS7 shows the last active screen of an app as a screenshot and optionally replaces it with the running app, if the app had been killed in the background. That way, it seems that more apps are running concurrently than the device supports. There's often a flicker showing the real app behind the splash screen WHEN I minimize a stuck splash screen.
