Make part of text in TextField Bold

Hello,
How do I make a part of a text in a TextField bold or italic?
Notice that I dont want to make the whole text bold. just parts of it.

you can use CustomItem
in the paint(Graphics,in,int) method, use drawString() method with differents text and fonts...

its urgent..
i have an expression in my ssrs report like
=iif(passorder=1 and zoneorder<>4,
iif(field!xxxx.value=3,field!xxxx.value & "is having perecntage of" & field!percentage.value, field!percentage.value)
now,its having row and column grouping..so, in preview i get 8 rows output
so..i cant take place holders
i need to make bold only the field!percentage.value and field!xxxx.value ...
this static text is having perecntage of should be in normal font only
if used iif(field!percenatge.value="xx",bold,normal) in font weight but not achieved..
can any on please help to me if there is any bold() function that to use in customcode..so that i can use in expression

According to your description, you have a long string in a textbox which concatenate values of two fields and static text. Now you want to set bold style for values of two fields, but still keep the default style for the static text. Right?
In Reporting Service, we can set style for text in a textbox, this style will be effective on whole textbox. However, we can create placeholders in textbox. So in this scenario, we suggest put those parts of text into different placeholders inside of a textbox.
We can set style for each placeholder. Also, we can use expression in Value to set condition for displaying data. We tested your case with some sample data in our local environment. Here are steps and screenshots for your reference:
1. Create a table in the report, double click on textbox, right click and select Create Placeholder. Select field in Value (If we want to set condition, put expression in it). Go to Font, select Bold.
2. Repeat step1 to create other two placeholder. For the placeholder with static text, unselect Bold.
3. Save and preview. In our sample report, we set the condition for displaying data (display null string when DocId = 3). It looks like below:

I want to make part of a List Item bold or emphasized

in preparing String values for inclusion in a List Object, I want to make part of the String Bold so it reflects the Search String that populated it. i.e.
SEARCH: Col
returns: Cold water freshness.
The Strings are no problem, but formatting the List so that it displays the HTML formatting is.

How to make part of text as bold or differnt color in text edit-webdynpro abap.
If we can make it bold then it is ok....or else atleast we have make it into some other color of part of text.
Note:
I tried with class char utilities and able to solve the issues like new line and carriage return....but could
not make this bold or different color.
Also when I use formatedtextview, I can able to solve this bold issue but I cannot solve this newline or carriage return issue...?
Can any one help on this ?

You have to use the FormattedText UI elements for such a thing. That is their purpose.

What kind of problem did you have with the Formatted Text? Line breaks? Did you try using the br tag?

RichEditableText that contains readonly parts of text in Flex 4.1

Hi!
Is there a way to make parts of text readonly in a RichEditableText ?
What I actualy want is to be able to append words that would act as a char, meaning the user won't be able to modify the word and if he tries to delete it , the whole word will be deleted.
I've tried to search for the 'editable' properties on the elements from a TextFlow or on a TextLayoutFormat but there's no such thing ....
The other solution I thought would be to save the position for the readonly words, and on each text change update positions and check if the editing affects any readonly word. The problem is that I fear this solution would add a semnificant delay on editing .
Can you please point me to a solution?

Just in case someone else is interested in this behanior, I've choose to implement this useing InlineGraphicElements. I've added the readonly text inside a Sprite useing a TextField and then added the Sprite as source for a new InlineGraphicElement. This asured the wanted functionality but I had problems with makeing the graphic text look like the one in the RichEditableText because I was useing embeded fonts as CFF that did not work for the Textfield.

Default font of TitledBorder makes all text inside it bold.

I try to set a border with a title - the format of which will be default, and size and color will be defined by me.
I use the following:
Border myBorder = BorderFactory.createTitledBorder(
BorderFactory.createLineBorder(Color.black), "My Title",TitledBorder.CENTER, TitledBorder.DEFAULT_POSITION,new Font("null",Font.PLAIN,40),Color.black);
mainPanel.setBorder(myBorder);
After that, all the text in mainPanel(including JButtons and JLabels) changes(becomes bold).
What can I do to prevent this? How can I make my border text not change all the other text?

I would suggest extending the TitledBorder and overriding the getTitledFont method to return a font that is not bold.

Indesign CS5 with PNG file exporting as a PDF file but the text is random bold

Hello,
I am looking for help to teach me how to solve this problem.
I use Indesign CS5 to make a proposal. I set the page marker and sub title in the master page.
Of course, there are including dozens of pages and some pictures here.
And one of these page, I place a PNG file and type some text.
When I export this file as a PDF file, one page, which is including PNG file, the text becomes random bold.
Therefore, I have used PSD file to cover the PNG file. But finally getting the same problem.
So does anyone can help me how to solve this problem?

This sounds like a known issue with transparency on the page. When transparency is introduced ID uses a differnt method, apparently, of rendering text on that page and it appears bolder on screen and can print that way on low resolution devices like desktop printers. It usually is not a problem on press output.
The only way to mainatian consistency would be to introduce transparency on all pages, perhaps by adding a transparent object to your master page.

Text prints as bold when it's not bold :(

I'm using Windows 7 and InDesign CS6. When I print PDF documents from files that have been created in InDesign some lines of the text print out bold when they are not bold and they also look a little fuzzy. I am creating the PDf using the "[High Quality Print]" option. I have tried changing several settings on the printer but nothing makes a difference. The problem doesn't occur when I print in black and white nor does it occur on PDF's I create from word or other applications. Can someone please help? Thanks Mel

Try updating the driver to a newer version for your printer.
And if you can get a Postscript Driver for your printer.
I had a similar issue last year and installing a postscript driver fixed the issue for me.

Text suddently appears bold after image insertion

After inserting an image (file type does not seem to matter - jpg, psd, etc.), the text on the same page as the placed image suddenly appears bold, though when highlighted and checked still reads as "regular" under the control panel. When a PDF is generated, the text still looks bold.
This seems to happen randomly in the same document - sometimes it happens, sometimes not.
This document will not be printed but will be posted as a PDF online, so the appearence of the text is important. How can I place an image and reverse the text looking bold?

This is somewhat of an old post, but I don't see that the issue was ever resolved. I just had this happen to me on 3 non-consecutive pages of a 40-page doct. I tried both moving the images to a new layer, and adding a transparent layer, neither of which worked.
But as for the suggestion of printing to PDF rather than exporting, that's not an option for me right now, since I need to have my TOC interactive in the PDF. Although the doct may be printed on paper at some point, it is part of a set of training manuals that will be mostly viewed on-screen.
How incredibly frustrating! If anyone learns anything more about this, I would appreciate very much if it gets posted here.

Smartform - text not printed bold

Hey guys, hope anyone can shed some light on this.
We have invoices with a smartstyle attached, using font Verdana.
Some texts are marked as bold in the smartforms.
Now, my problem:
When printing from any environment (DEV, PRD) using one of the printers configured in SAP, text marked as bold is not printed in bold.
When printing the same invoice using LOCL, and sending it to the exact same printer from windows, text marked as bold is printed in bold.
So I guess it's not the form, it's not the style, it's not even the printer: just the printer settings in SAP.
In many ways, it is very similar to the issue addressed in this thread:
[Printer Setting|Printer Setting] , except that when previewing the text doesn't show as bold.
My question is two-fold:
- How likely is it that this issue is related to the printer configuration (and thus, basis config)?
- If yes to the above, how do I verify this? I need something solid, since the SAP basis guys aren't very cooperative and keep pointing out that it's either the smartform or the smartstyle - without researching themselves

I think its the issue of the basis people,they need to make the settings. We had a similar problem here,we had to change the printer settings in SPAD,affter the basis peole had made the settings for us, for taking printout in hindi.

Did you do a font check in Font Book?
Be aware that a default encoding of UTF-16 as shows in your screenshot may lead to problems.<br />
The default is Western (ISO-8859-1) and you should change the default encoding to that setting unless you have changed that deliberately to UTF-16 for specific web pages, but even in that case it is better to make the change via View > Character Encoding or set Auto-Detect to Universal or UTF-16.

Peut - on faire ceci ? J'ai vu que l'on peut utiliser une richTextBox mais je n'arrive pas à charger l'activeX pemettant d'intégrer ce control.

I'm not exactly sure that I have corretly understood your question, but it seems to me that you want to have part of the text in a textbox with different attributes (color or boldness or so). This in not possible with regular textbox control, which holds only one set of attributes valid for the whole control.
I am afraid the richtextbox is the only valid control for such a matter.

I have low-vision and need this on as many as possible or all text running on my computer.
Less important: The "Speech" contextual menu is not available right-clicking text in Google Chrome. I could sure use it there too.

If you want it turned on permanently open Universal Access preferences, click on the Seeing tab, turn on VoiceOver. Click on the VoiceOver Application button for more configuration options.
There's also a shortcut option for TTS in the Speech preferences.

How to display the text as a Bold in the Text Element of a Smart Form

I created one Smart Form.
In that i created the Text element.
I provide some data also in that.
It is coming as a MS WORD.
I executed my smart form.
Customer Number: &WA_KNA1-KUNNR&
it display the data of the particular customer.
But i need to display the Customer Number as BOLD or else Increase the Size.
For this also I created one SMARTSTYLE.
In that I created the Paragraph and Character Formats also.
Now i assignee that SMARTSTYLE in the Output Option Tab of the Text Element also.
But i unable to get the CUSTOMER NUMBER in Bold.
In MS WORD we have BOLD button.
I selected the Text and Press the BOLD button. At that time it is Highlighted.
Whenever i press the SAVE Button.
Then it is not saved with BOLD.
It is coming in Normal Format.
In the ECC 6.0. I am unable to get the Text as a BOLD.
This text Element is like a MS WORD.
Can you please tell me how to display the Data with BOLD. please tell me. I am unable to get that one.

Hi,
Check where u have given BOLD. In character Format or in Paragraph format.
In SMART FORM,
1. Change to OLD EDITOR if u are confused with the new one.
        (This can be done by clicking the button left to new editor ).
2. If it is PARAGRAPH FORMAT,
           Give the name of paragraph format in the editor.
            P1         &WA_KNA1-KUNNR&
    If it is CHARACTER FORMAT,
                         <C1> &WA_KNA1-KUNNR&
