Making a form field that's 0.0825% of another

I right click on the form field, hit the Calculate tab, and select the "Simplified field notation" radio button. In that I enter the following:
this.getField('Tax').value = this.getField('Subtotal').value * .0825;
But that doesn't work. I try this, too, figuring that maybe it automatically adds the this.getField('Tax').value part, itself:
this.getField('Subtotal').value * .0825;
But no such luck. The tax field never changes - it's always "1".
Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or what I should be doing? Thanks!

A few more problems. Subtotal is the sum Total 1, Total 2, Total 3, etc (via the "Value is the ... of the following fields" option). So I change "Total 1" to 10 and Subtotal is updated. Tax, however, is not and still says 0. So I change "Total 1" to 100 and now, in Tax, I see what I should have been seeing for 10.
In other words, Subtotal * 0.0825 isn't giving me the value for the current subtotal - it's giving me the value for the last subtotal.
Any ideas as to why?

It's our internal applicant tracking systems (resume database). It works fine in IE and all previous verisons of FF but in FF 7 a bubble icon pops up stating that "Please fill out this field".
The field is not required but states "Require all of these words" if you to run a search based on those parameters.

There is no key because that is an important dialog. Why would you want it to go away?

I can see why that would be frustrating! Have you tried selecting Stayed Signed In underneath the Adobe ID and Password boxes when you try to log in?
What did you use to create the PDF form? If you used FormsCentral, form data is saved to your online FormsCentral account. If you have Acrobat, you can export form data as described here: Adobe Acrobat X Pro * Manage form data files

Acrobat form field that allows Reader user to browse and insert a picture into a predefined area

Is there a way to do insert a form field into an AcroForm that allow Reader users to browse and insert a picture into that form field?
I know that LiveCycle can do this, but I need to do this using an AcroForm. Or maybe there's a third-party plug-in that can be used in an AcroForm to do this?

Since this isn't backwards compatible with Reader, you'll probably want to add additional code to test what version is being used and alert the user if it's pre-11. Anyone use acrobat 9 to set form fields that auto center?

I am trying to set form fields for a form and am having trouble. The input needs to go all the way to the left when done but spaced evenly ovver a set area. This is confusing I know/ I have attached (2) samples. # 1 is the way I want to be able to fill the form. And # 2 is the form I am trying to set up. Any help would be amazing.

How to make form field that will highlight text

I have a calendar with several lines of text in each days box (yoga classes with class name and time). I need to create an interactive pdf which I can send to my teachers so they can highlight their availability to teach. I would like for them to be able to click on class times and have those times become highlighted. They could then save this form and send back to me. Please help... seems like it should be fairly easy but I've messed around for two days trying to make it happen with no luck!!

The problem is that form fields don't have an opacity setting, so they're
not very suitable for highlighting text.
Your options are to use a form field (like a button) with a transparent
fill color and a colored border, and then have the border become
transparent when clicked, or back to the color when clicked again, or you
could use a combination of an annotation and a button field. The button
will show/hide the annotation when clicked. The latter will look nicer but
is more complicated to implement.

To get the Database date in a select statement use the SYSDATE pseudo in a select statement.

Duplicating form fields from one PDF document to another

Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to select and duplicate all acrobat form fields from one PDF document into a new PDF document. I know I can do so one field at a time but would like to know if there is a way to do so in a wholesale fashion.
Our PDF documents are created in-house each year and are nearly the same as the previous year's document containing 99% of the same form fields in the same locations. These forms contain a lot of form fields, anywhere from 50 to 100 fields.
Rather than start from scratch each year defining the same fields that were present in the previous year's document, I am looking for a way to copy the form fields from an existing PDF document (last year's PDF in our case) and copy the form fields into a new PDF document (that does not yet have any form fields defined) and hopefully maintain all the field attributes and positions from the previous years document.

The PDF template we need to copy the form fields "to" doesn't start out having any form fields. It is the fields that we need copied from a previous year's PDF template.

The "new" PDF template is a complete "paper" form with updated legal text and calendar year referrences but NO form fields. In our IS group, we then take these forms, add form fields to them and are then able to populate them with database-resident user data. We serve them up to the user in their browser pre-populated with their application data.
So again, our need is to find a way to copy form fields from "last year's" PDF template and copy just the form fields to an fresh "new year's" PDF template that contains no form fields to begin with. What we begin with is just a PDF representation of a paper student loan application.

A form field that expands to another page with inputted text

I am currently designing forms with Adobe Acrobat Pro. I would like the end user to be able to type into a field and when that field is full for it to 'flow' onto another page in much the same way as typing in Word. The reason is that if you just use a scrolling text box, when you print the document you don't see all the hidden text.
I don't think this is possible in Acrobat and wondered if it was in Live Cycle.
Can anyone help?

How do i override a form field that is part of a calculation?

I have a form that has several calculations. One field in particularlar calculates a minimum down payment based on the total price. How can i get that field to accept either the calculated amount or be over ridden with a greater amount for the down payment?

Are you creating this form?
If so then you will have to create a custom calculation script.

Adding up Form Fields that are drop down menus

I have the following form with a radio button, pull down
menus and a text field. I would like to have a total amount due at

It is a lot to take on board, but start off small, firstly by at least styling your current table layouts with CSS and then moving onto using Divs for layout. It is nto as easy as some people say it is to move over from table layouts and sometimes you wonder whether it's worth it, especially when you may find yourself facing various browser bugs, but if you remember to code for Firefox first and then adjust for IE, you'll be set :-)

How to set a form field that automatically saves as email subject title

I am creating a form in acrobat 9 and want the submit to email button to automatically use the information from one of the text fields as the subject title of the email. So when the client submits the form at the end the PO number they have used will automatically be the email subject. Is there any way to do this? I have found an example created using javascript but I am very much a novice with this so I don't know where to start with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Making a form field required when another field is selected

I have a contact form with the usual fields required (name, address, city, etc.). I'm adding a Country pull-down list to the form, which will default to the US being selected. Since a "State" field is not relevant for anyone filling out the form from another country, I'd like to make the State field required only if the country selected is United States, and not required for any other country. Is there a way to do this?

What you need is to be able to create a required textfield when the first textfield shows USA and destroy the required field when another country is selected.

How do you create PDF Form Fields that will expand to contain their content?

I use Acrobat XI and so far as I know LiveCycle Manager taken away.
1. Is there a way one can do it directly in Acrobat?
2. Or is there a simple Javascript i can use?
