Making a new group out of addresses received as copies

Dear All - Here's a tricky one...I have a colleague who has sent me mail, and has copied this mail to dozens of others. I want to be able to make a contact group for all these people in address book, but don't know how (short of entering them all in, one by one, but life's a bit short for that).
So: How do I do that?
Thanks!
Ben

jobetim,
You could look into eMail Ripper, http://www.itechprofessionals.com/software/email-ripper.html If this is the only time you need to use it you might be able to get away with using the Demo.
Hope that helps,

  • Making A New Paragraph Out of an Existing One

Say I'm trying to make a new paragraph and I space a group of words to another line so that I can start a new paragraph with those groups of words and sentences...the problem I'm having is that once I space all those words to the next line to make a new paragraph, they won't space out from the left margin, I have to hit my TAB button to indent for a new paragraph which I don't prefer...I'd rather just space the words 5 spaces but I can't do that because the text won't space out from the left margin.. I hope you understand what I'm saying...it's another annoying thing about Pages that's really bothering me...

    Hello
    You wrote:

    Thank you
+I consider it a basic wordprocessing technique. It works on my 1899 L.C. Smith typewriter too.+
It works perfectly in Pages too.
Simply, the default indent value is zero.
This is why I passed a screenshot showing you how to set the indent value.

I want to remove the promodesc and the sum(t.salesamt) and add Promotion1,Promotion2,Promotion3 as three new columns and their respective sum(t.salesamt) as their data value.
I am thinking about using three separate case statements to achieve this...
sum( case when promocode='p12' then t.salesamt end) Promotion 1
Please let me know if there is any other optimal way to achieve this.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
What you want is called a Pivot.  Using CASE expressions (like you described) is one common way to do pivots.  If you're using Oracle 11.1 (or higher) then you'd probably want to use the SELECT ... PIVOT feature instead.  See the SQL Language manual
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/statements_10002.htm#sthref6809
    and the forum FAQ
    https://forums.oracle.com/message/9362005
    for details and examples.
If you get stuck, post your best attempt, along with CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for a little sample data, and the results you want from that data (if different from what you've already posted).
Always say which version of Oracle you're using (for example, 11.2.0.2.0).

I have created a group in my address book, but when I try to use it to send mail, only a comma shows up. How can I send mail using my new group? I have an IMac with OSLion.

I will agree with you on this one. Version 31 and all the fixes so far are a mess. Since I have been here answering questions for a little more than a year now I have learned to wait to upgrade until all the dust settles. I see no end to the dust storm version 31 has caused. I am still on version 24.6 and plan on staying there for the duration. At least until the developers comes to their senses and put out a working product.

    Hi  SDGNOM,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to export  list to Excel with all columns in your SharePoint.
For the SharePoint RPC protocol method, SharePoint export to excel will take the list id as well as the view id. So we cannot export list to Excel with all the columns without having to depend on the fields
    chosen in the default view.
    Reference:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms478653.aspx
For a workaround, you can achieve your demand via PowerShell. Here is a  template you can refer to:
    Param(
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
    [string]$webUrl,
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
    [string]$outPath
    $web = Get-SPWeb $webUrl
    write-host ("Path: " + $outPath)
    foreach($list in $web.Lists)
    $exportlist = $null
    $exportlist = @()
    $list.Items | foreach {
    $hash = $null
    $hash = @{}
    foreach($fld in $_.Fields ){
    Try {
    $hash.add($fld.Title, $_[$fld.Title])
    Catch [System.Management.Automation.MethodInvocationException]
    # Eating an error caused by duplicate column names.
    Finally
    #"End"
    write-host ("Exported: " + $_.Title)
    $obj = New-Object PSObject -Property $hash #@{
    $exportlist += $obj
    $expath = $outPath + '\' + $list.Title + '.csv'
    $exportlist | Export-Csv -path $expath #$oPath

  • Send list of addresses from received email into new group?

I got an email addressed to me and about 30 other people (all in the To: line). None of these people is in my address book. Is there some way to create a new group with all their addresses without first adding each one of them one-by-one into my address book? I know I can click on each name and add them with a couple of clicks, but I'd like to know if there is a faster way.

Thanks for the suggestion; I'll give the scripts a try. Normally I'm wary of scripts for core OSX apps (Safari, Mail, iTunes, etc.) because they can be a source of problems when a point update from Apple comes along. These seem fairly benign, though.

  • Why do I not receive iCloud e-mails when there is a specific group of "To:" addresses in the body of an e-mail

I noticed this when I started my iCloud e-mail account a few months ago. I am not receiving iCloud e-mails when there is a specific group of "To:" addresses in the body of an e-mail. I can receive the e-mail on my outlook & local cable providor e-mail accounts with all of the addresses listed. If I strip out the "To:" addresses and send it from my local cable providor e-mail account to my iCloud e-mail account than I will receive the e-mail in my iCloud account (minus all of the "To:" addresses that are in the body of the e-mail. This has caused me to miss a lot of e-mails.
Following is one of the e-mail that I can send from my cable providor account and not receive it in iCloud. If I strip out all of the "To:" addresses I will receive it in iCloud. I have a case open with Apple but it is not going anywhere. This occurs from multiple sending internet service providors (ISP's) so I think it's an Apple iCloud e-mail processing issue.

I've been having a very similar problem to what ziemsen describes, for about a week now. The Mail app has stopped delivering new messages to the Inbox, even though I can view the newly incoming messages on the server via Webmail. I am able to send email through Mail with this email account, and as for the other email accounts that I have on Mail (which are also hosted by the same server), I am able to both receive and send email with no problem.
None of the mail settings have been changed, so how this happened all of a sudden is very puzzling. I have checked Account Info on the problem account - Mail recognizes that there are messages that are on the server yet to be downloaded, but it won't download them.
I've checked what other users have suggested here in the Discussions Forum, and tried: 1) deleting the problem Mail account from Mail and re-adding it; 2) creating a new machine User account and setting up Mail with that User; 3) setting up Mail on another machine; 4) archiving and re-installing OS, and even 5) wiping the HD entirely and reinstalling the OS. None of these have worked.
Ernie, your suggestion of deleting the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded file sounded like the solution to the problem, so I just tried it - but to no avail. Mail delivers messages that are on the server to my Inbox up until the same point that it always stops at, and there are almost 1000 new messages since then.
I am pretty lost at this point - I have no idea what else I can possibly do to resolve this problem. The strange thing is, when I tested my email accounts on Microsoft Entourage and Mozilla Thunderbird, they don't have this problem - both deliver all of my incoming mail. I may have no choice but to switch to one or the other at this point, but I'm attached to Mail and would really like to continue using it if I can. Any advice would be much much appreciated.

  • How to add individual email addresses to a new group?

My Address Book contains more than one email address for some of my contacts. When I add such a contact to a new group, I would like to specify which email address to use; but I can't find a way to do that. The message goes out to all of the contact's email addresses.
I could, of course, create separate cards for each of a contact's email addresses, but that solution would be worse than the problem I'm trying to solve. Any suggestions?

Select the group, then *Edit > Edit Distribution List...*. Select the email address you want to use for each member of the group.

  • In address book how do I move all cards from my 'last import' smart group into a new group?

In Address Book, how do I move all cards from my 'last import' smart group into a new group that I will create? So far I am not being allowed to Edit Smart Group!

You’re going to have a very big problem and very soon. These missing pics are the beginning of trouble.
the total size of all my folders on my 60gb internal drive is 46.5 gb, yet only 1.9 gb is available,
OS X needs about 10 gigs of free space on the hard drive for normal OS operations such as virtual memory and temporary files. Without this space the machine slows down as the OS hunts for free space, files become fragmented and applications begin to crash. The risk of data corruption increases exponentially.
You must, as a matter of urgency, make space on the drive. I cannot stress this enough.
You may be able to recover the pics from your camera card using an app such as MediaRecover

  • In Address Book, how do you create a new group under "On my Mac", not under "iCloud"?

In Address Book there are groups under "On my Mac" and groups under "iCloud".  When I do File -> "Create new group", the new group always goes under "iCloud".  How can I make a new group to go under "On my Mac".  I also tried dragging the new group from the iCloud area to the "On my Mac" area, but that doesn't do it.  Address Book is version 6.1.3.  Thanks for your help.

Maybe look in the Preferences > Accounts & disable the iCloud account? That should force it to create a local group then re-enable the iCloud account. I would use the 'File > Export… Addressbook archive' to make a backup before you begin, but it should be fine.
I'm not sure 10.6.8 supported iCloud natively, so perhaps that is why it is being wierd?

I would contact Apple directly and have them work with to get the iPod shipped to a new/different address.

  • Why are none of the groups in my Address Book showing up the address book tool in the new message window in Mail? Actually how do I get the two to match?

I seem to have lost the groups from my Address Book in the address book tool in Mail. When I try to address a new email, all my contacts are grouped under all and the other groups found in my Address Book application are missing. Is there a way to get the groups to show up in the address book within Mail?

When you make changes in AB, quit Mail for the changes to be added to Mail's database file. Reopen Mail and try it.

  • New 2008 R2 DHCP server will not hand out IP addresses

    We've recently migrated our Domain Controllers to 2008 R2, Virtual Machines. (DC3 & DC4).
DC2 is an older 2003 box, 32 bit, set for retirement.  All former roles have been moved to DC3 & DC4, including FMSO roles, and the server (DC2) has been demoted.  The only service that remains on DC2 is DHCP.
I've used NETSH to export / import the DHCP info to DC4.  All reservations have transferred ( Printers) and the scope shows "active" on DC4 and authorized, and running, but whenever I shut DHCP down on DC2, DC4 doesn't start handing out
    IP addresses to clients.
Even after rebooting a client multiple times, running ipconfig /release & /renew, it never finds the new DHCP server, nor does the server show any client information in the address leases. (other than reserves)
We have a Cisco ASDM deployed, but DHCP and DNS are both disabled on this device, so I'm not sure IP Helper would be an issue here.
Since both my new DC's are 2008R2, do I need to elevate active directory up to 2008 function before DHCP will work?

    Hi,
Is the issue resolved? As suggested by
Wyatt Miller, you can check if it was caused by IP helper.
In addition, is the new server authorized?
Here is a migration guide for you:

    Hello Corinne Craven,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
You can update the name on your Apple ID here:
    Appleid.apple.com
If you suspect unauthorized access to your apple ID I would normally recommend resetting your password, but you have already done this.
Here is some information about 2 step verification which is another level of security for your account.
