Making a PDF Form secure for emailing

I have created an enrollment form with LiveCyle.  The employer will send the application to a new employee for them to fill out and they would like it emailed back to them.  I tried the submit button but that doesn't work because while the information they input is received in a .xml file the electronic signature does not transfer which is required.  Can I set it up encrypted so that only the information that is input is encrypted?  I am VERY new to creating forms and using LiveCycle.  Thank you!

The way I think you are trying it in Reader won't give you want you need. If you want to hide the data in the XML email submission (from email submit button), you need the newer capabilities in Designer 10.x to encrypt the submission. The XML contents will look like this after it is encrypted:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

In the Designer version you have (8.2), you only have the capability to sign the data or the entire form, which will not hide its values in the XML file that gets sent.

  • LiveCycle: making whole PDF forms attach to email

    If I create a form in LiveCycle is there a way to make it attach to an e-mail the same way it does when you add the Submit button in Adobe Acrobat Pro?
    When I put a Submit button on the document in LiveCycle it will only send the data as a .xml file, which is not what I want. I want the user to be able to hit submit and have the whole form with the data in it emailed to me: like it does in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Is this possible or do I have to design the whole form in Adobe Acrobat Pro to make this happen?

    This was discussed recently here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5133066#5133066
    In short, you should use a regular button and configure it to submit the entire PDF.

  • PDF Form javascript for making readonly field by using button

    Please let me know the PDF Form JavaScript for making selected fields(Text field,Drop down list,..) as read-only by using Button.

    Do you want your button to be made read only?
    One starts with Acrobat JS Reference.
    // make all fields in a form read only;
    var oField; // variable for field being processed;
    // loop through the form fields;
    for (var i = 0; i < this.numFields; i++) {
    // process each field name;
    oField = this.getField(this.getNthFieldName(i)).readonly = true;

  • PDF Form Javascript for getting User LoginName

    Please let me know PDF Form JavaScript for showing User Login Name (login id) in the Text Field (text1), when using Button (button1).

    As noted there has to be a special folder level script installed on each user's system. This script can be written to access individual properties of the identity object or only a specific property. One can also create a function to access the identity object or even create new properties.

    Hey louiseg45826294,
    Thank you for posting on Adobe forums.
    Could you please let me know what Adobe Writer program you are talking about. Is it Adobe Acrobat or Reader?
    Could you please share the screenshot of the exact error message that appears.
    Are the PDF forms saved on your computer's local drive?
    Hope to hear from you.

  • How to: Secure pdf form that is emailed and later uploaded

    We have a pdf form that will be posted on our website.  Local college/university faculty will link to the form on their websites or just give students the link to our page.  Students will fill the form and it will be emailed to a faculty member from their specific school.  The faculty member then needs to review the form and select candidates to present for an internship.  At that point, they need to upload the form back to our server.
    This form will contain sensitive information and therefore needs to be secure during the filling, emailing, and uploading processes.  The faculty member receiving it needs to be able to access it as does the person on our end that will do the final reviewing after it is uploaded back to us.
    I have no idea how to even start.  I've created interactive forms but have never embedded one in an website.  The closest I've come is a recently created web application that filled a pdf form in the code-behind and then emailed it, but that didn't require any security.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Yeah I kinda figured that... Really too bad. Seems lke it should be possible somehow. Anyway, do you all have any suggestions about the best way to combine a static form that is really just text fields and such (that comments and markup tools can be used in) with another page that is sections of narrative that would need to be able to flow?
    Or better yet, a way to draw lines on to a form without using the comment and markup function?
    I like your idea about connecting two forms - but I need to keep the final product as simple as possible. Once the user fills it out, they would be to be able to submit it and it show up as one file, even if that is just a flat file. I don't expect you all to tell me how to do this, but it would be nice to know its possible before I commit to the project and research. Thanks in advance.

  • Secure pdf form sent by email

    I created a self-signed digital ID for both signature end data encryption.
    Then I created a pdf form by using livecycle and put it on our website, and after users fill it in, they will click submit by email to submit the data.
    I tried to create a self-signed digital ID.- that also does data encryption. Then I did a test to fill the form, send by email. I suppose it has encrypted the attached PDF form, but I can open it just like regular form without encryption. How can I know if it is encrypted or not?
    Thanks

    This is my exact concern. I want to know that return email with xml data files are encrypted for confidentiality. Does anyone know how this is done?

  • PDF Form Security

    We have created a pdf form which our web server uses to collect ticket information from our ticketing software and populate the corresponding fields on the pdf form.  The form is then attached to an email and sent to the ticket purchaser so they can print their eticket at home, and it includes a barcode which then gets scanned at the entrance of the performance venue. (i.e. Eticket or Print At Home)
    However, we have just discovered that the ticket element fields can be edited by the end user when they receive it.  They cannot save the file, but they can print the form with the changes they make. We are concerned that users may try to change their seats or performance time.  I have tried to lock the form with a password, but then that prevents the webserver from importing the data into the pdf form from the ticketing software.
    Any ideas how to allow the server to fill in the fields with information, but then lock the pdf form for editing when it is sent to the end user/purchaser?

    There really isn't any actual secure way of doing this with Acrobat.
    You really can't even keep them from saving the PDF. In fact, by nature, it is already saved to their hard drive elsewise they wouldn't be able to view it.
    I would suggest looking in to a Digital Rights Management solution. That is as close to secure as you are going to get but it's very expensive.

  • Sending PDF form directly to email

    Is it possible to send filled PDF form directly from Acrobat Pro or Reader to requested email by clicking the SEND button? Or does it always go via senders email application?
    What should be done to get it going directly?

    Is it possible to send filled PDF form directly from Acrobat Pro or Reader to requested email by clicking the SEND button? Or does it always go via senders email application?
    Answer: To bypass client-side email software the form needs to submit to a server side script such as PHP or ASP.net.
    What should be done to get it going directly?
    Answer: You will need an SMTP account, a web server and server-side programming knowledge. The script would need take the inbound submission stream and pass it to the outbound SMTP message, and return a FDF response message or redirect to a URL. If you are using ASP.net, you can use iTextSharp or FDFToolkit.net to parse the submission, and inject the values directly into the message TO, CC, BCC, subject and body.

  • Maths (simple sum) based form security for preventing spam

    I'm looking at possibly implementing a math/arithmetic type of spam prevention solution (within a few forms on our site) and have been led to believe the solution is a rather complex one that requires knowledge of php to write.
     However, I believe I've found a ready-made solution that simply requires the user to insert suggested bits of code on your form/page and it should work.
    Before I start investing time in it, could anybody with some knowledge of these php anti-spam solutions confirm for me whether the following solution is likely to work, and is it as simple as it's suggested in the article? This solution can be found on the following page: http://www.lateralcode.com/basic-math-security/
    Also, could that math security code work well in conjunction with the 'honeypot' code (that I'm already trying out) or is it likely to create a problem with the two clashing? Would you recommend using them together? Thanks.

    I don't know why you would need to go to the lengths of that article to be honest creating this function and that function. In my opinion is really rather overkill.
    You can set this up really rather simply - Heres a form with randomly generated numbers:
    <?php session_start();?>
    <?php
    $_SESSION[firstNo] = rand(1,10);
    $_SESSION[secondNo] = rand(1,10);
    ?>
    <!DOCTYPE HTML>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
    <title>Website Form</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form id="mailForm" method="post" action="validate.php">
    <p>
    <label for="name">Name</label><br>
    <input type="text" id="name" name="name">
    </p>
    <p>
    <label for="email">Email Address</label><br>
    <input type="text" id="email" name="email">
    </p>
    <p>
    <label for="address">Address</label><br>
    <input type="text" id="address" name="address">
    </p>
    <p>
    <label for="comments">Comments</label><br>
    <textarea id="comments" name="comments"></textarea>
    </p>
    <p>
    <label for="number"><?php echo $_SESSION[firstNo]." + ".$_SESSION[secondNo]." ="; ?></label><br>
    <input name="number" type="text">
    </p>
    <p>
    <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="submit">
    </p>
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    Heres the validate php file that will check that the number entered on the form is correct and if it is will send the post. If it isn't the script will stop running. Just change $to = "[email protected] to your email address
    <?php session_start();?>
    <?php
    $correctNo = $_SESSION[firstNo] + $_SESSION[secondNo];
    // get name
    $name = trim($_POST['name']);
    // get email address
    $email = trim($_POST['email']);
    // get address
    $address = trim($_POST['address']);
    // get comments
    $comments = stripslashes(trim($_POST['comments']));
    $to = "[email protected]";
    $subject   = "Comments from website";
    $headers  = "From: $email\r\n";
    $headers .= "Reply-To: $email\r\n";
    $message = "Name: $name\n\n";
    $message .= "Email Address: $email\n\n";
    $message .= "Address: $address\n\n";
    $message .= "Comments: $comments\n\n";
    if($_POST['number'] == $correctNo) {
    mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
    else {
    exit;
    ?>
    As for the honeypot in conjunction with the maths solution, yes you can leave that in as it will do no harm

  • How to make a pdf (form) accessible for reader in Adobe Acrobat x pro?

    Hi guys, i have bit of a problem here as i am new to the Acrobat pro X
    Using Acrobat pro 9 i always could save a LiveCycle pdf form with permission to fill and save as a reader user. now i have upgraded to cs6 and i have no clue how to do that anymore. The half of the options are gone and i can't access the older Acrobat pro anymore.
    Does anyone know how to save a pdf form using Acrobat X for adobe reader users giving permission to read and save my pdf files?

    For Acrobat X go to File-> Save as->Reader Extended PDF
    This will embed the reader extended rights in PDF.

  • How to get a PDF form message for a license?

    I am attempting to configure a SPF-transaction PDF form for /SAPSLL/LCLICE02 (Letter of Credit transaction).
    I have defined the Technical Medium for Messages (PPF) of Licenses and the Condition/Output Parameters for Communication of Licenses.  The Action Definition is set up as an External Communication with a PDF-based form and Object-Specific Variable Replacement.  I have tried various formats, including /sapsll/form_proc, with no success.
    When I switch to the communication tab in /sapsll/lclice02, the program crashes in the middle of printer determination with a move-cast error.  It is clearly reacting to the PDF as a CUHD data type when it needs an LCLIC type.  What configuration am I missing?  Where can I set this?

    For Acrobat X go to File-> Save as->Reader Extended PDF
    This will embed the reader extended rights in PDF.
