Making a PDF of sheet music darker

Hello.I downloaded a PDF file from a website that contained Latin sheet music.The sheet music file pages are light.How can I make them darker before I print them?I have a Mac Pro with an operating system of Snow Leopard.I am using a HP Photosmart Premium C309A series printer to print the sheets from.Thank you.

Maybe try either Preview or Image Tricks (a 2nd party graphics editing program. Choose "colours" under Tools
and there should be exposure, brightness, sharpness, etc, etc

How does the iPad 2 rate as a sheet music display?

Hi, I am a pianist, and I am looking for something that removes the worry of Sheet music falling off the stand in a rehearsal or concert. I'm considering getting an iPad 2 to address this. I know there are a number of apps out there such as forScore, which allow you to read PDFs of sheet music, but I have no idea how effective they are. I have a friend who was in the same situation as me. He used an original iPad to display his music, but complained that it was nowhere near responsive enough with page turning to work effectively. Is there anyone reading this who is currently using an iPad 2 to read sheet music? If so, which app do you use, is it effective and would you recommend it? Many thanks.

I'm not a concert muscian. However, I've used my iPad for piano music. It worked fine for me. I believe the app I used is called Etude. However, I don't recall if you can import your own music into that program or not.
The other issue I can see is that the iPad is, compared to sheet music, rather heavy. It's fine on the music stand of a piano. It would probably be okay on one of the music stands I used to use when I played in an orchestra (they were black metal). I think, though, that it wouldn't be trustworthy on a folding music stand. If sheet music falls to the floor, you just pick it up. If an iPad falls down, it might break.

Is there a way to export what you record as sheet music?

Maybe this is something simple I just haven't figured out yet. I recently recorded a melody in GarageBand. I'm wondering, is there any way to view the notes of what I recorded in the form sheet music? I would like to have the song translated into sheet music, so I can't print it out on a single page PDF or Word Document.

I am still in the return window but i really do not want to return my mac as i know it has the ability to do what i want, my problem is just finding the software that will work as i know there has been a lot of complications with OS X Mountain Lion with softwares that caim to be compatible but then later turn out not to be.
I have been a windows user for years and this is really my first mac but apart from the hole software issue i find the mac 10x better than any windows computer i have ever used. For example i bought a HP laptop 4 weeks ago and has nothing but problems. At first the fans stopped working and making weird noises and then it began switching off when ever it felt like it and freezing like mad when i was trying to access the smallest program. I have found that now a days you dont get what you pay for with Windows especially since Windows 8 was released. Also Laptops such as HP now are just crammed with cheap parts, they dont take pride in their systems like they once used to unlike Apple. I know i will get more than a year or 2 out my mac (hopefully a lot more) but with windows systems it just seems to break all the time costing more money on extending warrantys. Also i like mac because i dont need to send it away if i ever get a problem, i can just take it into the apple shop half a mile down the road and they will fix it in store. Where as with windows i am waiting 2 weeks+ to just hear back from them.

CRM 7 PDF Fact sheet question.

My understanding is that the PDF uses a smartform to create the PDF and there is config behind which identify the AB's to be used. However, am I right it saying that the PDF config can only use the AB's that are defined for standard Online Fact Sheet?.
So, if we have particular AB's that the PDF Fact needs to use but should not be displayed within the online fact sheet then we'll have to create them within the view, hide them so that they do not display when the Online Fact Sheet is displayed, but add these AB's into the configuration table for the PDF fact sheet, and of course modify the Samartscipt so that it knows what to do witrh this extra data for the new AB's.
Have I missed anything, or have I not got the right grasp on this?.

It is slightly different when making modifications to the PDF view because with the standard online Fact sheet you can easily add new fields using the UI config tools, and then just adjust the code to populate these fields, should they be new ones.
However, you don't have this option with the PDF fact sheet, so there's a difference straight away. My problem is that I need to add new AB's and new fields in both existing AB's and new AB's for both the PDF and online Fact Sheet, although I'm concentrating on the PDF fact sheet first. There seems to be a good many articles on adding new fields, which to be honest is childs play when using the UI configurator, but very few articles on the subject of adding new AB's and fields and then having them populated via ERP, which is no easy task, and is about 99% of what I need to achieve.
So, to start with, has anyone come across a easy guide to adding new AB's and fields for the PDF fact sheet, and possibly an easy method to populate it. I have found a WIKI guide, written by someone within SAP (I believe) but their HTML code in the example is not generated correctly so they have manually entered it, which seems like a bit of cheat to me, as it should work.

Looking for help to print up sheet music of the songs and chords

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I just got a new imac a few months ago. I am writing songs for garage band and would like to print them up with the chords, so basically home made sheet music. I am new to Macs and usually try this with a Microsoft word document but it moves the chords around so that they are out of sync with the lyrics. There must be a professional program or template I can use to do this either on a Mac or a pc. I would appreciate any help.

I did a quick google and found some Windows-based programs you could buy to do that, but nothing for the Mac.
However, you ought to be able to do it in word (I do when I have to print chords w/ lyrics to play with a group). You just have to fiddle with the space bar and tab to line up the chord changes with the lyrics.
It might be easier if you use a fixed-width font like Courier.

How can I create a PDF contact sheet of photos in finder

I'm trying to create an automator workflow/action (or service) that will allow me to select a set of photos in the finder and then create a PDF contact sheet that will include the Photo filename. I know that I can select photos and open in preview, but these do not include the filename with the photo in the saved PDF.
I'm a newbie with Automator, but i gave it a try myself.
In the Automator PDF Library, there is an action called "New PDF contact sheet", however I can't seem to be able to get it to work. I dragged that action to the workflow and then added "Get Selected Finder Items" before that.
It appears to run it--an "application"/window appears titled "MakePDF" and it appears to run through the selected photos. However, at the end (after it asks for the file name to save it with), it says that "The action “New PDF Contact Sheet” encountered an error--check the actions properties and try running the workflow again".
What am I leaving out of the workflow?

There is a bug in the *New PDF Contact Sheet* action in that it is looking for the Leopard version of a file that moved and changed in Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopard has a newer version of a support application MakePDF.app in the */System/Library/Image Capture/Automatic Tasks* folder, but as mentioned the *New PDF Contact Sheet* action seems to still require the older version of the application, which in Leopard is located in the */System/Library/Image Capture/Tools* folder. If you have access to a Leopard installation, you can copy the MakePDF.app from Leopard and place it into the same location in Snow Leopard (/System/Library/Image Capture/Tools) - this will get the action working again.

Is there a way to tie to iPads together so that when you turn a page with a tap on one, both iPads turn a page. I am using the ipad to replace piano sheet music. The challenge is that ordinary sheet music is on both a left and right page.

We are trying to use an ipad to replace ordinary paper sheet music on a piano. When truning ordinary paper pages, it is sometimes hard to grasp one page, turn it quickly and get it to stay turned. The idea with using an ipad is that a tap turns the page, it stays turned. However,,,,,ordinary sheet music is on both left and right pages. With one turn you get 2 new pages. The ipad, being smaller results in only one page and therefore twice as many page turn taps; more taps equals less hands on the piano. If we could tie 2 ipads together and get them both to turn the page simultaneously it would be nice. We are trying to get used to using the ipad. We are using ForScore app to get sheet music into the ipad; we could load one with odd pages and one with even pages. Maybe this is getting too complicated.

No way to control one device from the other. But, according to ForScore, you should be able to display two sheets side by side in landscape mode (2-up view)? Not sure if that helps as it must make the actual print smaller to do so.

Get error message when trying to print from Sheet Music Plus

I have Windows 8, Have installed Adobe Air and flashplayer, but when I try to do digital print from Sheet Music Plus I get error message: The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.

Wow, that's the first time I think I've ever seen that solution! Very happy you were able to get this solved. I'm not sure what would cause this to fail, maybe some sort of permission issue with the desktop folder? If you have a chance, would you mind emailing me ([email protected]) the following log file? I'd love to take a look and see if we caught anything with our error reporting.

Sorting sheet music by song number

I have sheet music in individual scanned files. I can sort them by name, date modified, file size and file type. Except for the file name, I want to manually/individually change the items in any of the above columns so I can enter the song number and be able to search by song name or song number. Thanks, Pat

Sorry but I can’t help with your specific question. But I’ve put some songs onto my iPad and would like to flip from page to page. However, many of my songs are on three pages and it’s take time to change from page to page via “Documents”.
Do you know how I can flip from page to page by touching the iPad screen?

Hello MacBook Pro Musicians- I cannot read sheet music from the ipad. It is too small. I want to connect a large monitor, hopefully wirelessly to my 13 inch macbook pro. what would I need to connect ? Any suggestions on how to keep monitor from falling?

Hello Macbook Pro Musicians--I cannot read sheet music from my 13" macbook or from an IPad. The print is too small for these aging eyes! So I need to get a large monitor to attach to the Macbook. I want the monitor to be connected wirelessly or using a blue tooth. This will eliminate alot of potential mishaps
when playing out. Also I am having a time figuring out how I am going to safely keep the monitor on somekind of music stand without falling!!! Can anyone help me with this?

As you can see in my profile section, my MBP is older by 5 years, 2GB RAM and with regards to question 1 (Q1), has no problems with having all those programs open at the same time with the possible exception of Photoshop since I use Gimp instead. With twice the RAM and much overall much better specs, Photoshop shouldn't be an issue. But you listed some other activities that might need that additional RAM. But the advise most give is to not get it from Apple but from a third party.
Q5 - I always get Apple Care. Only had to use it once but it paid for itself that one time.
Sorry, can't help you much with the questions you really want answered since I won't have a new MBP until (hopefully) next week but for Q4, I believe it depends on the peripheral. My current monitors are too old to allow them to be hooked up in a chain. Supposedly, if the monitors do have the ports, you could via the MBP Thunderbolt port. The speeds are also dependent upon the peripheral. If the external hard drive is using a USB 2 port, you are limited by that speed (480 Mb/s). If it has a Thunderbolt port, then from what I understand, we, my friend, are in for some great times because I believe your RAM will have the ability to access data as fast as it can take it at 10Gb/s (and if will need those kinds of speeds, the 8GB of RAM may be the way to go). The Thunderbolt demos on YouTube where they are accessing four video files from a Raid drive, then sending them back out via Final Cut Pro to a monitor are amazing. I'll probably never push this machine to anywhere near it's limits but I can't wait to see what others do.

Making a PDF with "Outline" and Bookmarks Using Pages

Hi, I'm using Pages 1 and I have tried making a PDF with outline breaks but I failed. I thought using paragraph styles for my document would work but when I exported my document to PDF, all I got was a PDF that only has the thumbnails view but not the outline view. Also, when I exported my document that has bookmarks to PDF, all the bookmarks don't work anymore. How can I make a PDF document using Pages with all the bookmarks and the organization just like other PDFs that I encounter? Thanks

welcome to the Pages Discussions. If I remember correct, in Pages 1.x there is no way to export text links to PDF. An outline view creation doesn't exist.
If you want to have links in PDF (of the TOC, too), then you should upgrade to iWork'06. But outline view doesn't exist here like it doesn't in version 1.x.

Thanks CtDave, for the further info. Unfortunately, those suggestions are not working, which is strange.
....Until last week, I used to make multi-page PDFs straight from Photoshop: File > Automate > Make PDF. One simply choses the files, orders them, and creates a PDF. (Resolution doesn't matter; 300 DPI is no problem.) However, my new Photoshop CS5 does not have the option in Automate.
What I've done, seeing as Acrobat is letting me down, is use Bridge (new to me) to create the PDF. It worked without a problem, but seems like more work than the old PS method. I will download a newer version of Acrobat to see if that makes any difference.
.....Also, thanks Test Screen Name: I agree with you that jpeg is irrelevant, and that one can make a PDF from Photoshop (Print > Save As - pdf). But that only works for SINGLE PAGE pdf, not multiple pages as far as I can tell.

Problem opening a sheet music file on Script Editor

I have sone sheet music files but when I try to open them I get an error message saying that the dictionary of the extension or application is not scriptable and then I get another message saying that the Script Editor cannot open files in the Script Editor Document format. I have no idea what that means. I think they're MUS files, if that helps at all. Thanks.

The filename extension .mus is usually a Finale Music Score, created by one of the Finale Music family of applications. You can find out more about Finale using the link in this post.
