Making a RPC Call with Complex Server-Side
Hey, I'm currently trying to write a distributed program using a simple web service call. I've tried to set up Axis RPC by following a tutorial and got it working, but the problem is I end up calling a JWS file on the server and at that point I'm not sure how I can tap into the rest of my server code to do complex server-side work.
Basically I want the ability to call other Java classes I write, but for some reason I can't figure out how to make them show up as valid classes to the JWS file. Throwing the files in the same directory under Tomcat doesn't do anything, and I haven't managed to do it with a JAR files either. Are there any tricks to getting JSW files to refer to regular Java classes, or am I using the wrong technologies altogether?
Thanks in advance,
Graeme
I didn't personally develop the back end, but basically think a lot of classes including inheritance and all that, there are database calls (I think JDBC and Hibernate), and overall just a fair bit of code.
If I make other Java classes part of the same project, the jws file can't seem to find them. If I put a CallServer.jws and OtherClass.java in the same directory, writing OtherClass object = new OtherClass(); gives a compile error. But maybe I'm misinterpreting what you mean by "make them part of your web service project".

Making a VoIP call with the Cisco 837 ADSL router
I would greatly appreciate if could please provide some technical assistance to my questions below:
Is it possible to make a VoIP call between two 837 ADSL Cisco routers over a 1Mbps ADSL broadband connection?
If so, can I configure this VoIP connection using either a PPPoE or ATM WAN link?
Is it possible to make a VoIP call using a Cisco 837 Router while simultaneously surfing the Internet? In other words do I need two public IP addresses i.e. one for accessing the internet and one for making the VoIP call or is one static IP address obtained from my ISP sufficent.
It is possible to configure QoS parameters (e.g. RSVP, Voice precedence, Voice codec selection) on this 837 router using PPoE or can it only be done using an ATM WAN interface?
Does the Cisco 837 router support both the H.323 and SIP communication protocols? Do I need to purchase a certain IOS operating system version for VoIP calling?
Does the VoIP dial peers need to be configured with both a POTS and VoIP phone numbers or is only one number required?
Do I need to obtain a special VoIP number from my VoIP service provider? or can I use existing POTS numbers or made up numbers within the dial peers as this situation involves making a private VoIP call between two branch offices using 837 ADSL routers and not via a VoIP service provider.
Finally, can I use POTS ordinary telephones with the Cisco 837 for making VoIP calls or do I strictly need to purchase VoIP phones?
My apologies for the number of questions asked here but I currently need to know the technical ability of the Cisco ADSL 837 as I am thinking of employing these routers in my company organisation.
I await your feedback in due course.
Thanks,
Martin HealyHi,

What are the cool things that I can i do with java (server side) knowledge?
My boss is about to send me to class for Java (Server Side) Programming. I am a novice programmer who knows only COBOL and C.
What can i do with that class?Well you can do anything a cgi can do and then some.Just do a search on servlets or cgi and that will give you a good idea of what can be done
Here is a couple of links for ya

and here is a cgi one http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/
well this hosud give you and idea what you can do with server side programs -
Nokia 1110i:Making non-emergency calls with keypad...
I can make calls with Nokia 1110i with its keypad locked.

Message Edited by michaels on 28-Apr-2008 03:20 PMId just like to add that ive had my N80 for 3 weeks now, and 3rd day of using it, my N80 did the same thing, made ghost calls.
It must have used about a minute or 2s worth of calls.
I was actually on a stage doing a mobile disco, getting up and down off the stage, when i noticed id received a message from a friend, but also the log had said i called them also.
The phone was set to locked, ie press the power button, and enter your sec code to unlock phone before it can be used.
How it had done it i dont know, but maybe it was because id recieved a message, it decided to call that person.
it did it at least on 2 occassions while the phone was in my pocket, although it hasnt done it since.
I also dont use a leather or plastic case of any kind.
Im using firmware for n80 on H3g uk.

so in my case, very strange. I could have understood it if the slidy lock was just enabled, but the full lock was on, when my ghost call happened. -
Unable to establish AV call with Lync server 2013 from internal to external remote users
Hi,
Instant messaging is working fine
When trying to video call from the internal Lan to an remote external user Video call connects for 10 seconds and then drops.
This also happens between federated sites when we initiate the call
Internal to internal video call works
External to external video works
Please see logs below, can anyone advise on this issue or point me in the direction
The logs show trying to make a video call from user on the same domain, one user on the internal network and the other user is external

Remember that Edge may use somewhat unique ports for AV if you, or the federation target, used a single IP address. If you haven't, see if you have that unique port open on the firewall. If you used a single IP address, ensure that the federation target

Cannot be heard when making a phone call with yosemite
Hi,
Since upgrading to Yosemite i have tried to make numberous phone calls from my Mac Mini (Late 2012) but the other party cannot hear me.
I have enabled the settings required and am logged into the same account on my iPhone 5 and Mac, i have also plugged a USB headset in and changed the input settings to the headset but still nothing. i can hear the other party but not be heard.
Have i missed something obvious?
ThanksWe want you to have a great working device, amandabr. Are you able to hear callers clearly? Do you have a case on the phone or anything near the bottom mic that may be interfering with the sound? Double check to make sure the bottom mic is also clear of pocket lint/other debris that can effect the quality of the sound.

Updating form with server-side scripts
Hi
For security reasons, we want to do a web service call with only server side scripts. That way we have full control over the access to the wsdl and no problems with the security.
However, if I try to run the scripts on server-side I get no update of the data in the form... so what to do to solve that problem? Anybody with experience from that?To make a small update I've been messing around with various different things to be able to achieve the goal. One of the initial problems was that the Designer actually manages to create two different SOAP addresses, one of them is the correct and secure way and the other one is direct to the data source, which would be an unsecure and blocked route. That changed things a bit when I realized that.
But still, the problem remains. If I run the script Client-Side, it works but is not an acceptable solution. If I run it Server-Side, it can't read the data and doesn't recognize the call to SOAP.connect()...
Does anybody have any experience in webb service connection with server side scripts? -
SQLNCLI11 - Recordset with Server Side cursor and Property PreserveOnCommit = TRUE
I am migrating an OLEDB application from Microsoft Access to SQL. I am using the SQL Native Client in my connection string
"Provider=SQLNCLI11;Server=%s;Database=%s;Trusted_Connection=yes;"
The application uses the following call to open a table in the database
m_pRecordset->Open((LPCTSTR)m_strQuery, _variant_t((IDispatch*)mpdb, TRUE), adCursorType, adLockOptimistic, options);
where m_strQuery is the table name, adCursorType is adOpenKeyset or adOpenDynamic (I've tried both), options is adCmdTable or adCmdTableDirect (I've tried both)
mpdb is a _ConnectionPtr. Cursor location can be either adUseClient or adUseServer.
If I set Cursor location to adUseClient, the PreserveOnCommit Property of the Recordset is true; if I set Cursor location to adUseServer the PreserveOnCommit property of the Recordset is false. I cannot set this property after the recordset
is open
Is there a way to Open the recorfdset with a server side cursor and PreserveOnCommit TRUE?
Howard P. WeissThanks, Dan, that has been very insightful. We will try to move our legacy VBA data access layer to client-side cursors (first for SQLs with CTEs, then for all SQLs, if everything works out well).
Regarding deprecation: What is the currently recommended way to access SQL Server from VBA projects? I did a bit of research and it appears that all methods I can think of are deprecated in one way or another:
DAO with ODBCDirect: Support has been dropped with Access 2007.
DAO via JET: Using JET SQL syntax instead of T-SQL? Not seriously. Anyway, it's considered obsolete by Microsoft.
ADO with the SQLOLEDB provider: Deprecated.
ADO with the SQL Server Native OLEDB provider: Won't be supported after SQL Sever 2012.
ADO with the Microsoft OLE DB provider for ODBC: Not supported: "SQL Server Native Client is not supported from the Microsoft OLE DB provider for ODBC (MSDASQL)."
What did I miss?
Best regards

Problem with server side cookie
Hi, I have a problem with a server side cookie. I'm trying to store a cookie trough the cl_bsp_server_side_cookie=>set_server_cookie method in the OnInitialitation event handler of a bsp (my bsp application is non mvc) and then to retrieve this cookie trough the cl_bsp_server_side_cookie=>get_server_cookie method in the OnInputProcessing event handler of the same bsp. In this cookie i'm storing a internal table but i'm not getting it when i invoke the get_server_cookie method.
This is the source code that i'm implementing:
OnInitialitation:
wa_comunnication_data-mobile = wa-mobile.
wa_comunnication_data-telefono = wa-tel_number.
wa_comunnication_data-email = wa-email.
APPEND wa_comunnication_data to comunnication_data.
cl_bsp_server_side_cookie=>set_server_cookie(
EXPORTING
name = 'cook_comunnication_data'
application_namespace = 'NONE'
application_name = 'NONE'
username = 'NONE'
session_id = runtime->session_id
data_value = comunnication_data
data_name = 'comunnication_data'
expiry_time_rel = 720 ).
OnInputProcessing:
cl_bsp_server_side_cookie=>get_server_cookie(
EXPORTING
name = 'cook_comunnication_data'
application_namespace = 'NONE'
application_name = 'NONE'
username = 'NONE'
session_id = runtime->session_id
data_name = 'comunnication_data'
CHANGING
data_value = comunnication_data ).
READ TABLE comunnication_data INDEX 1 INTO wa_comunnication_data.
regards, marcel.Why do you need to use cookies in the same BSP Application?
Try to use below:
username = sy-uname
application_name = runtime->application_name
application_namespace = runtime->application_namespace

How to use server-side classes in a web service proxy client ?
Greetings,
I'm using WebLogic 10.3 with Workshop 10.3 on Windows. I generate a Web Service client in Workshop. There are two options in the New->Others->Web Service category: ClientGen Web Service Client and Web Service Client. I've chosen the second one as it's a JAX-WS Web Service and I think that the first one (ClientGen Web Service is to be used with JAX-RPC Web Services. The proxy is generated but, since the Web Service is using POJOs as parameters, a new version of these POJOs is also generated. For example, my Web Service has an operation like: public OrderStatus putOrder (Order), where OrderStatus and Order are application scoped POJOs. The proxy generation process generates a _PortType class which is supposed to be used by the calling client. This class defines an operation public OrderStatus putOrder(Order), but the OrderStatus and Order classes aren't the original ones but the generated ones. The issue is that these generated classes aren't completely equivalent to the original ones, for examples all lists become arrays, the constructors are different, etc. This is extrememly annouying. Is there any option to say to the proxy generation process to keep with the server-side classes ?
many thanks in advance for any help.
NicolasThe only solution to this problem seems to be using dynamic proxies. But it doesn't work neither as the following code:
Service service = Service.create(new URL("http://localhost:7001/OrderServiceProject/OrderService?WSDL"),
new QName("http://www.simplex_software.fr/demo/services", "OrderService"));
OrderService orderService = service.getPort(new QName("http://www.simplex_software.fr/demo/services", "OrderServicePort"), OrderService.class);
raises the following exception:

As a matter of fact, fr.simplex_software.demo.services.OrderService is not an interface but, nevertheless, it's a SEI and it was generated as it is by the IDE Web Service wizard. Big, big confusion ! Of course, this sample works perfectly with Metro, in NetBeans using Glassfish. -
Server Side Caching of pdf files
Hi all,
I've run into a rather odd problem that I can't find a way around. I've created some URL iViews to display some html files and some pdf files. I've adjusted the Load parameters for these iviews to the following:
Allow Client-Side caching: Yes
Cache Level: Shared
Cache Validity Period: 12 hrs
Fetch Mode: Server-Side
I've found that the html URL iViews work fine like this, but the pdf URL iViews do not. The pdf ones seem to just hang.
I've noticed that if I change the Fetch Mode to client-side for the pdf files, the iview then begins to work. However, I don't believe that this is the way that I want to configure my URL iviews. I believe that I want them all to be server-side cached.
I've followed the instructions on 'setting up system properties for proxy server' (System Administration -> System Configuration -> Service Configuration -> Applications -> com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice -> Services -> Proxy). After making these configuration changes, I've stopped/restarted portal services. The problem still occurs.
Does anyone have any idea as to what may be causing this problem and how do I fix it?
Thanks!

GraybarHello.
I have the same problem. When I tried open a pdf file with fecth = server-side, I waitting for 500 seconds... But if I tried open with Fetcf = clien-side I only wait 2 seconds.
Did you found the solution?
Thanks.

Making Web Service calls from a Form in the WorkSpace
I am getting conflicting information about this, so I hope someone here could clarify it. TIA.
This is what I want to do:
after a form is displayed/launched in the WorkSpace,
when the user Tabs out of a field (Exit event) on the form,
I want to make a Web Service call from the form,
get the result from the WebService,
and use the Result to populate another field on the form.
I know for certain that this works if I Reader-Extend the form,
and I set the JavaScript at the Exit event (to execute WebService call)
as "Run At Client".
The question is:
can I make the WebService calls without Reader-Extending the form???
I have been told that, yes you can,
but *only if* you let the JavaScript "Run At Server".
I tried that, but it caused the Reader to crash.
Some other people told me,
no you can not,
even if you "Run At Server", the form still needs to be Reader-Extended,
when using it in the WorkSpace environment.
So, what is the truth? can someon tell me?
Can I make WebServers calls from the Server-side at all?
Do I really need to Reader-Extend the form even if calling it from server side?
What exactly is it SUPPOSED to work?
thanksyes, thank you both. I got the fix from Adobe Tech Support last week. It's working.
The fix I got included a rather complex looking "Submit Service" though. Makes me wonder how a regular user would know that he needs to write such a Submit Service?? and even if he knows that he needs a special Submit Service, would he know how to write it??? I found no documentation for this type of things either.
Shouldn't this solution be published somewhere in Adobe's website? Dev Lab perhaps? -
Server side package or emrbace Apex and use its capability
This may not be a suitable question for this forum but I can only try.
My experience with APEX is primarily doing everything in the APEX “front end” and only calling PL/SQL packages in the database when absolutely necessary.
A colleague insists on putting everything in a PL/SQL package in the database and putting calls in APEX to functions & Packages.
One example I can quote is we had a conditional tab which could only be viewed if you had an entry in a table.
I did the SQL code for the tab in the conditions section in apex. My colleague then reworked my code to call a PL/SQL package and placed the code I had written on the server.
Another example was a demo of lazy load on an input field he loved it but then when he realised it could not be done via a call to a server side package dismissed the lazy load idea as not relevant even though it would make our users life easier.
I am soon to have a battle royal over which is the best approach. Any comments.First of all: All PL/SQL Logic you enter, either in APEX or in packages is always executed on the server. Your browser doesn't understand PL/SQL very well...
Putting PL/SQL logic in packages - instead of in APEX regions - has some advantages though (not extensive list):
- You can easily unit test package procedures/functions.
- You can reuse the package procedures/functions in the same app or in other apps as well.
- PL/SQL code in packages is compiled in APEX it's dynamic and has to be parsed, so creates some overhead.
- When you make changes to your codebase or columns you can spot that in your PL/SQL packages (they might get invalid). You won't notice that in your APEX regions until you (or end user) run the page and encounter an error.
So, yes, putting logic in packages has advantages. But on the other hand, a statement like "if we can't do it in a package, we don't do it all" might be a little to restrictive...
Just my 2 cents -
hi,
i'm making a rmi call to a server on a ipv6 enabled machine.
when i use the host name, it works fine.
but when i use the ip address, it throws me a timeout exception

Turning off server side stack trace in error message for weblogic81
Hi,
I am seeing server side stack trace in getMessage() method which is being stuffed

Hi there,
In order to manage my own exceptions in some EJB, i have developped some
classes
extending Exception.
Now i would like to display proper messages to the final user, based
on the messages
defined in my exception classes.
Using standard try/catch, i can easily get reference to the exception
that can
occur during EJB execution.
The problem is that my message (myException.getMessage) is followed by
the extra
long message generated by the Server and starting with "Start server
side stack
trace:".
For exemple :
com.xx.ejb.DamageHistoryException: Can't find the price for this object
(objId=7569,
sizeCode=LI, colorCode=2)
Start server side stack trace:
com.xx.ejb.DamageHistoryException: Can't find the price for this object
(objId=7569,
sizeCode=LI, colorCode=2)
at com.xx.ObjectAccess.getObjectPrice(Unknown Source)
at com.xx.ejb.ObjectBusinessService.getObjectPrice(Unknown Source)
<....>
about 20 lines here !!

Any idea about how to avoid the extra message ??
Thanx in advance
