Making a VoIP call with the Cisco 837 ADSL router

I would greatly appreciate if could please provide some technical assistance to my questions below:
Is it possible to make a VoIP call between two 837 ADSL Cisco routers over a 1Mbps ADSL broadband connection?
If so, can I configure this VoIP connection using either a PPPoE or ATM WAN link?
Is it possible to make a VoIP call using a Cisco 837 Router while simultaneously surfing the Internet? In other words do I need two public IP addresses i.e. one for accessing the internet and one for making the VoIP call or is one static IP address obtained from my ISP sufficent.
It is possible to configure QoS parameters (e.g. RSVP, Voice precedence, Voice codec selection) on this 837 router using PPoE or can it only be done using an ATM WAN interface?
Does the Cisco 837 router support both the H.323 and SIP communication protocols? Do I need to purchase a certain IOS operating system version for VoIP calling?
Does the VoIP dial peers need to be configured with both a POTS and VoIP phone numbers or is only one number required?
Do I need to obtain a special VoIP number from my VoIP service provider? or can I use existing POTS numbers or made up numbers within the dial peers as this situation involves making a private VoIP call between two branch offices using 837 ADSL routers and not via a VoIP service provider.
Finally, can I use POTS ordinary telephones with the Cisco 837 for making VoIP calls or do I strictly need to purchase VoIP phones?
My apologies for the number of questions asked here but I currently need to know the technical ability of the Cisco ADSL 837 as I am thinking of employing these routers in my company organisation.
I await your feedback in due course.
Thanks,
Martin Healy

  • Guest account with the Cisco connect e2000 router

When switching to the guest account  it does not ask me for a password or is this password for computers not on the normal connecting

When you try to connect to the Guest Network, it will display you as a Unsecured Wireless Network and it will not ask you for the password. But once connected to the Guest Network and when you open Internet Explorer and try to go online wirelessly that time it will prompt you for the Password. Input the right password then you will be able to go Online wirelessly.

  • How do I make a hands free call with the iphone 4s?

How do I make a hands free call with the iphone 4s?  I have a bluetooth car device and when I try to talk through it (as I did with my old phone) to call someone it does not work.  so far only hte last person called is redialed.

That is a carrier-based service. So first you have to make sure your service contract includes that feature.
It usually also includes Call Hold. So you call the first party, put them on hold, call the second, then reactivate the first. But only if your carrier allows you to.

  • An error when trying to connect with the Cisco AnyConnect.

    Good day!
I connect from Windows 7 (also from Ubuntu) with the Cisco AnyConnect client 3.0 (and with Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 3.1) and  get error a “The VPN client was unable to successfully verify the IP  forwarding table modifications. A VPN connection will not be  established.   No changes had been made to the  configuration  of my  asa5520 running 8.4(2) (ASDM 6.4(5)).
I have license  (AnyConnect Premium Perpetual) supports 2  vpn connections.
I read about this problem on different forums and cisco.com:
disabled unused adapters, check install software (Adobe photoshop and Bonjour are not installed on my system).
I made new configuration AnyConnect  in ASDM. But the problem remains the same...
Please, help me find the way to solution in this situation!

I have seen that error before but it usually clears up on its own.  I have a working theory though so perhaps this might help you.  I noticed that once you connect, 2 files are created in C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client.  I think that folder is different if using v3.x instead of 2.5.  Anyway, the files are routechangesv4.bin and routechangesv6.bin.  Try deleting each and then rebooting.  Try connecting again after that.
My theory is that those files are not clearing up after disconnecting.  I think they are supposed to go away after disconnecting but I noticed in some cases that they don't.

  • Is it possible to purchase replacement Flash Card that came with the Cisco 1811 Router?

I am in desperate need of a replacement Flash card that came included with the Cisco 1811 Router. I purchased the router used and it was working perfectly. I worked my way through all the information provided at cisco.com and had it pretty much configured the way I wanted it. Until the flash card got destroyed. A little embarassed to go into details how it was destroyed, let's just say my Grandson gave it a bath.
It would be great if I could just purchase a replacement somehow with the IOS and SDM on it without purchasing a Cisco Service Agreement, etc. I purchased the router just to further my "Self Education". I have pretty much conquered all the aspects of the Cisco routers, etc. more or less developed for the Home Office user and moved on to bigger and better things. Since I was able to find a Cisco 1811 in good working condition very inexpensively I decided to go for it.
Help from anyone would sure be appreciated.

  • Why can't I record calls with the iPhone?

    Hi,
Why can't I record calls with the iPhone? Every other mobile can! That's quite pitty ...!

Nonsense. There are many places where you are not allowed to take photos or video but those functions are included. Apple assumes no responsibility for them. Apple would not be responsible for managing the recordings on the phone either. It's most likely because Apple is located in California and in THAT particular state, both parties have to be informed of the recording. Most states do not require that. If Apple were located in another state (e.g. Alaska) there would be no restriction.
All the apps that record calls store those recordings in their servers and charge you a fee. It would be preferable to have the calls stored only on the phone so no one else could access them. The iPhone has the technological capability; we have just been restricted from having this functionality without paying a 3rd party.

  • Can't Access WVC200 with the Cisco Video Monitoring System

I have contacted the help desk but nothing is forthcoming.
I need help to configure a WVC200 to with the Cisco video monitoring system. In the camera configuration there is no drop down item for a Linksys wvc200 camera only the WVC210 camera. Thus access is not possible. With my other camera WVC 210 there is no problem. Who can help?
Also the Cisco video monitoring system cannot reduce in size (drag smwller) but only full screen or nothing.. how can I move the monitor to my other video screen.
    Mike

    Steven
I know it is not a bug and that WVC 200 is not supported anymore but I find that a lame excuse. I only bought this 18 months ago and now Cisco does not support this. If it had been 5 years ago then I could accept.
Why you can't add a wvc200 template in the Cisco video monitoring systemn I just do not know.
Even the latest WVC200 fireware is only released this year.

How do I answer calls with the KITKAT update?  I hit the flashing button but it's still ringing?  Where are the Answer settings?

Aha!  Thank you!!!  That was not obvious. Sometimes I don't get the green and red icons.  So it's slide it to the right for answering and slide to the left for voice mail.

  • Could Cisco 1701 ADSL Router supports WIC-1ENET Card.

    Hi,
I need advise as to if a Cisco 1701 ADSL router could support WIC-1ENET Card.
My 1701 Router has WIC 0 as ADSL and WIC 1 as ISDN, could the ADSL card be replaced by a WIC-1ENET. I noticed ,that the cards seems to be rivet onto the back of the Router and not connected with SCREWS as other routers would posses.
Could someone advised as to how i can have this router supports 2 Ethernet NICs or what could be your recommendations?
    Thank you,
    Cisco End User.

    Hello,
the WIC-1ENET is supported on the 1701, but, AFAIK, only in slot 0.
It does not support 2 WIC-1ENET cards, only the 1720, 1750, and 1751 do, with a specific IOS release, check out this info from CCO:
WIC-1ENET- Support for two Ethernet WICs
The Ethernet WIC (WIC-1ENET) provides the capability to deploy additional Ethernet port(s) in a Cisco 1700 series routers. The initial release of the WIC-1ENET supported only one WIC-1ENET card in a 1700 router. The new IOS 12.2(2)XJ release offers the option of deploying up to two WIC-1ENET adapters in a Cisco 1720, 1750, or 1751 router. A total of three Ethernet ports can be configured. A typical application that requires three Ethernet ports involves using the built-in 10/100 Fast Ethernet port for LAN segment. One of the WIC-1ENET port could be used for high-speed broadband DSL or cable modem connection. The second WIC-1ENET port could be used for a DMZ (demilitarized zone) environment for deploying public Web servers or FTP servers. Hardware modification is not necessary to use the capability of IOS 12.2(2)XJ. The new IOS software is compatible with WIC-1ENET adapters already installed in 1700 series routers.

  • Making a call with the iphone headphones

I know that you can answer calls through your headphones that came with the iphone but is it possible to make a call through it using the microphone and saying a command to call someone?

What I meant was while Im listening to my ipod on my iphone, is it possible to use the button on the headset and make a voice call from my headphones? I know I can do voice calling from the phone itself but I was wondering if you could do it through your headphones like push the button and say call whoever in the microphone and it would do it.
