Making a virtualized version of Excel Add-in the default Excel to open?

Hi
Office 2013 installed locally, application sequenced that has an Excel addin. When I launch Excel from the normal shortcut it does not see the Excel addin.
I created a shortcut to Excel as part of the sequencing process. So on the client machine I have a shortcut that says.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\EXCEL.EXE"  /appvve:9AA35C13-A844-49A1-B33C-CE9A22D2749B_CC2FA9B9-34F8-44FE-8F29-FC5605102AF6
Then the addin is seen.
Is it the normal way to have a separate Excel icon for this? I encountered the problem that if a user opens up the local Excel on the machine, they cannot launch the App-V shortcut above. They have to click the APP-V one first.
Is there a way to make the APP-V version default for opening Excel? How do others do it?
Kind regards,
Peter

If Excel should always be opened inside the App-V environment, you can use the 'RunVirtual' key in the registry.

talk about that.
Note that (for now) the App-V package has to be published globally.

  • How to make Excel, Word, Powerpoint the Default programs?

    Hey guys,
Just got my new MBP, and I need to know how to make Excel, Word, Powerpoint the default programs when opening one of their files? Currently, the trial version of Iwork opens the programs which drives me crazy.....
So, for example, for an Excel file, I want Excel to open it, NOT Numbers......etc....
    Thanks In advance.
    JW

Select a file of that type in the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu, change the Open With entry for it to the desired application, click on Change All, and confirm the action.

  • Making an application the default program to open certain files

    Hello,
I have a stupid question that has been bugging me for a long time.
I have installed parallels to use windows and when i used its office excel, it prompted me if I want to open the files with window's excel; which I did. Then now everytime I open an excel file on my mac HD, it starts parallels to launch its excel to open. I tried the option of open with "other" and select my mac's excel but this only applies on the particular file. I uninstalled parallels to avoid this problem and it still tries to locate parallel's excel which no longer exists.
So I have everytime to select the file and use the open with option which is very unpractical.
This applies for any other application so is there an effective way to change the "default" application that opens certain files? There must be a way to do that!!!!
    Please help.

    Hi Carol,
    Do the following:
    1. Click once on any Excel file.
    2. From the menubar select File->Get Info
    3. In the "Open with" section click on the drop down menu and select the Microsoft Excel, ensuring it's the Apple Mac version that's located in your Applications folder. If it's not listed, select "other" and then navigate to the application.
    4. Click on the "Change All" button and confirm.
That's it. Everytime you double click on that file type, it will open in the Application of your choice.

  • How do I change the default program to open Pages docs to the old (4.3) version instead of the new one (5.0)?

How do I change the default program to open Pages docs to the old (4.3) version instead of the new one (5.0)? When I do what Apple said and go to a Pages file in finder and select "get info" then select "Pages 4.3" and "change all" it just defaults to the new one even though I'd selected the old one. Do I need to completely uninstall the new version of Pages or is there another work around because the new version of Pages comes dreadfully short of the features I need that are included in the old one?

HOWEVER, if you modified a document in 5.0, 4.3 can't open it. You'll have to use Time Machine to replace the modified version with an earlier version that was last modified in 4.3.
    Actually there is a workaround.
If you open the file in Pages 5, it can then be exported on Pages 0.9 format to another folder. I had to do this as the document was only in iCloud and couldn't be recoverd by Time Machine.
    Worked for me!

  • TDM Excel Add-In for Microsoft Excel will not install: Installation Summary No software will be installed or removed.

    Hello,
My7 computer is running Windows 7, I have the Base installation of LabVIEW, and have Microsoft Office 2007 installed.
I have downloaded the Add-In for Microsoft Excel from:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2944
unzipped it successfully (66 files created)
searched for messages and updates  (No notifications.)
and I get a screen reading:
    Start Installation
Review the following summary before continuing.
    Installation Summary
No software will be installed or removed.
The "Next" button is grayed out, leaving "Save File" "<<Back" and "Cancel"
Does anyone have a suggestion why I am unable to go any further?
    Thank you,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Are you sure it hasn't been installed before? Under Control Panel...Programs and Features...National Instruments Software...do a "Change/Remove" and look down the list for "NI TDM Excel Add-In verX.XX". If found, uninstall and re-run the installer for the newest version.
    This might help as well.

  • How to set the default Excel cell format when opening XML to XLS using an existing stylesheet?

    Hi,
I have an XML file, which I'm opening with the Excel application. The stylesheet I use is horizontal.xsl.
The problem arised when the XML has data in the format "1/4" or "1/16", which is translated in the Excel as date (like "01/04/2007").
I think I have to set the default cell type to "Text" instead of "General". Does anyone know how it can be done?

Is this the same question as idoZo, if so jigg has already answered it. If not then you should post your own query not hijack someone elses giving a clear and concise question, "how to set it??" doesn't help you or other in the forum to provide you with a solution.
Is this relevant to TestStand? If it is then help by providing which version you are using and what software you are using with it. If not then post your question in the correct board.

  • Making Logic NOT be the default app fpr opening AIFFs

Hi Guys, been wandering this for a while - since starting using L7 Logic has been the default app that launches when i open an AIFF....Same now with L8.. I Can't ever remember choosing this behaviour & its a bit of a pain when i just wanna preview an audio file quickly outside of logic & either need to sit there for 2 minutes while the app launches or have to right click, then slide down to 'open with quicktime' every file (i'd prefer quicktime as a quick & easy app for this)
I have scanned every preference box I could see in both logic & quicktime (& searched via spotlight) but can't find an answer, anyone know of one?

Hi. There is no way I know of doing what you want to do.No overall setting I am aware of that is. The above things are on a per-instance situation. Not a global setting. But they do "change" the setting per-instance once set in the get info window.Which obviously doesn't apply to something newly created. It would be nice to know how to do what you want. Anybody know?? I don't//JON

  • Making iWork the default apps for opening Microsoft Office documents

Is there a way to make Pages, Numbers and Keynote the default apps for opening Microsoft Office documents, such that if I double-click a Word document it launches Pages and opens, etc.? I know I can do it by double-clicking the Office document and dragging it to the appropriate iWork app in the dock, but it would be nice to have it happen by default. That way I can put Office in my rearview mirror!

Fantastic - worked exactly as advertized. Thank you both!! Office is now a distant memory (except when I have to save in MS formats to send files to the unfortunate masses).

  • Help with making photoshop the default program to open pictures.

I subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud and use Photoshop the most. I of course want all my pictures to have Photoshop as the default application to open them but I can't get it to work.  When I go to "open with" to change to photoshop it doesn't automatically show up as one of my options so I go to "browse" and find it under program files, adobe, Photoshop cc but when I click on it and accept it won't keep it.  It keeps going back to a different program.  I can't change to default to acrobat or other programs, just not Photoshop.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you.

  • Excel Add-in connections not refreshed

I am using Essbase 9.3.1.4. I have created a new planning application and set up the security / provisioning in shared services and syncronized to EAS. The security for the user works correctly in the planning application but when we try to connect via the Excel Add-in, the new planning application does not appear on list of available applications/database in the connection box. It does list existing planning applications available to the user, but not the new one. Does anyone know in v9.3.1.4 what file the Essbase add-in connection box is reading to present the available application/databases to the user for selection? For some reason it seems this file is either not being updated or it is ready an old version of the file. We have the same issue when using SmartView ad-hoc, any non-admin userid cannot access this new application. SmartView Planning does work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

A quick fix would be to create a shortcut to ESSEXCLN.XLL in the Excel startup folder (varies by install, usually c:\program files\microsoft office\office\xlstart\)Jeff McAhren<br>Dallas, TX
